Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the priority benefit of Korean Patent Application No. 10-2017-0152375 filed on Nov. 15, 2017, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention

Embodiments of the invention relate to a travel carrier and, more particularly, to a travel carrier where an electronic device such as a notebook computer can be easily inserted and taken out.

Description of the Related Art

Generally, a travel carrier encompasses a special-purpose bag designed to accommodate a large amount of traveler's articles and to allow a traveler to walk while carrying or dragging a carrier body on the road.

In order to prevent breakage or damage of accommodated articles due to an impact from an outside, a travel carrier generally has an outer portion formed of a rigid material or has a rigid outer portion covered with a fiber or the like.

However, the conventional travel carrier has a problem that a volume of storage is constant regardless of a volume of articles to be stored, and a customer must have various carriers of various volumes depending on a travel purpose.

Also, the conventional travel carrier has two wheels and has a handle provided on one side of the travel carrier where the wheels are located, and thus, is moved in a tilted state. Although the travel carrier with two wheels may not have problems for a long distance travel, it may be inconvenient to be used as a travel of a short distance or a travel through a relative small space. As a result, carriers with four spinner wheels that can rotate 360 degrees are developed. Carriers using four wheels are able to be carried or dragged with a small force or with less energy because weight is dispersed by four wheels. However, because the handle was located on one side of the travel carrier, the weight of the travel carrier may be not efficiently distributed and the weight may be undesirably concentrated. Thus, it may be unstable to use the carrier.

In addition, in the conventional travel carrier, a traveler should open a main body of the travel carrier to take out an electronic device such as a notebook computer or the like when a traveler passes through a security check zone at an airport or the like. In the process of passing through the security check zone, articles in the travel carrier may be poured to the outside or private articles related to privacy of a traveler may be exposed to the outside.

Further, the traveler should additionally carry a battery for charging power of an electronic device, such as a cellular phone, a notebook computer, or the like.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, embodiments of the invention have been made in view of the above problems, and the invention is to provide a travel carrier being able to be prepared by selecting an accommodating body having a suitable size, among accommodating bodies having various sizes, in consideration of a travel purpose and a volume of articles to be accommodated, and by detachably coupling the selected accommodating body to a frame portion.

Also, embodiments of the invention are also to provide a travel carrier being able to be carried or dragged by a traveler by a handle bar at an upper end of a frame portion capable of maintaining a center of gravity of a carrier main body.

In addition, embodiments of the invention are further to provide a travel carrier being able to allow a traveler to easily take out an electronic device by using an auxiliary housing without opening a carrier main body. A housing entrance of the auxiliary housing is exposed to an outside so that an electronic device can be taken out of and inserted into the auxiliary housing when a handle bar is pulled out of a frame portion, and is covered by the handle bar when the handle bar is inserted into the frame portion.

A travel carrier according to an embodiment of the invention includes: a frame portion formed of a rigid material and vertically arranged in a central portion to form a part of an upper end portion and a part of a lower end portion; and a first accommodating body and a second accommodating body detachably coupled to one side and the other side of the frame portion, respectively, and including at least one wheel at a lower end portion to be in rolling-contact with the ground. At least one of the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body is detachably coupled to the one side or the other side of the frame portion by a zipper.

In this instance, front or rear edges of the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body may be engaged with or disengaged from a front or rear edge of the frame portion by the zipper to have an annular shape or a closed shape.

Further, a handle bar may be disposed at an upper end and a periphery portion of the frame portion to be inserted into and pulled out of the frame portion. The frame portion may have an empty space, and front and rear surfaces of the frame portion may be open to an outside so that the empty space of the frame portion 14 communicates with the outside through the front and rear surfaces. A space formed by the frame portion, the first accommodating body, and the second accommodating body may be totally used in a state that the frame portion, the first accommodating body, and the second accommodating body are connected to each other. Alternatively, spaces of the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body may be individually used to be separated from each other in a state that a covering member covers the front and/or rear surface of the frame portion. The covering member may be detachably coupled to edges of the frame portion.

In addition, the frame portion may include an auxiliary housing to accommodate an electronic device therein.

In this instance, the auxiliary housing may have a housing entrance for receiving the electronic device. The auxiliary housing maybe formed so that the housing entrance is covered when the handle bar is inserted into the frame portion and is exposed when the handle bar is pulled out of the frame portion.

Further, the auxiliary housing may further include a pouch disposed at an inner space of the frame portion. The pouch may be detachably coupled to an upper end of the frame portion where the housing entrance for receiving the electronic device is disposed.

In addition, an upper end of the pouch may be coupled to or separated from the upper end of the frame portion where the housing entrance is disposed by a zipper.

Furthermore, the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body may be made to have various sizes so that various articles of various volumes are stored and may be selectively coupled to the frame portion detachably.

Also, the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body may be made to have different colors and may be selectively coupled to the frame portion detachably.

In addition, the travel carrier may further includes: a battery inserted into and disposed at a side of an upper end of at least one of the first accommodating body and the second accommodating body; and a power charging unit for charging an electronic device, wherein the power charging unit including a battery charging terminal connected to the battery.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a travel carrier according to an embodiment of the invention. FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view showing a state in which a first accommodating body and a second accommodating body of the travel carrier shown in FIG. 1 are separated from each other, and FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view showing an example of an auxiliary housing in a state where a handle bar is pulled out of a main body of the travel carrier shown in FIG. 1. FIG. 4 shows a state when the travel carrier shown in FIG. 1 is used.

Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a travel carrier according to an embodiment of the invention includes a carrier main body 1 including a frame portion 14, a first accommodating body 10A, and a second accommodating body 10B.

In this instance, the frame portion 14 may be formed of a rigid material. The frame portion 14 maybe vertically disposed in a central portion of the carrier main body 1 to form a part of an upper end portion and a part of a lower end portion of the carrier main body 1. The frame portion 14 forms an overall framework of the carrier main body 1, and the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B maybe selectively coupled to a front surface or a rear surface of the frame portion 14.

Referring to FIG. 2, each of the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B may have a separate accommodating space for accommodating articles, and may be selectively coupled to the front surface or the rear surface of the frame portion 14 disposed in the central portion. In addition, the frame portion 14 has an empty space, and the front and rear surfaces of the frame portion 14 are open to an outside so that the empty space of the frame portion 14 communicates with the outside through the front and rear surfaces. A space formed by the frame portion 14, the first accommodating body 10A, and the second accommodating body 10B may be totally used in a state that the frame portion 14, the first accommodating body 10A, and the second accommodating body 10B are connected to each other. Alternatively, spaces of the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B may be individually used to be separated from each other in a state that a covering member 21 covers the front and/or rear surface of the frame portion 14. The covering member 21 may be detachably coupled to edges of the frame portion 14. FIG. 2A shows an embodiment in which the space formed by the frame portion 14, the first accommodating body 10A, and the second accommodating body 10B is used without the covering member 21 in the state that the frame portion 14, the first accommodating body 10A, and the second accommodating body 10B are connected to each other. FIG. 2B shows an embodiment in which the spaces of the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B are individually used by coupling the covering member 21.

In this instance, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B may be detachably coupled to one side (a front surface) or the other side (a rear surface) of the frame portion 14 by a zipper.

For example, a zipper member (not shown) may be provided on each of the front and rear edge portions of the frame portion 14 so that the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B can be coupled by the zipper. Also, a zipper member may be provided on each of edges of the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B to be engaged with or disengaged from the zipper member of the frame portion 14 to have an annular shape or a closed shape to surround all edges.

The first accommodating bodies 10A and the second accommodating bodies 10B having various sizes may be manufactured and provided to a user so that a size of an accommodating space in which articles are accommodated can be varied. In this instance, if the first accommodating bodies 10A or the second accommodating bodies 10B having various sizes, portions of the first accommodating bodies 10A or the second accommodating bodies 10B coupled to the zipper member may have the same or very similar size to each other to be stably connected to the frame portion 14.

In the travel carrier according to the embodiment of the invention, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B are detachably coupled to the frame portion 14. Thus, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B having various sizes can be manufactured for accommodating various articles of various volumes, and the first accommodating body 10A or the second accommodating body 10B having a suitable size can be selected as necessary and be detachably coupled to the frame portion 14.

Therefore, when a traveler buys a travel carrier according to the invention on the market, the traveler may basically buy the frame portion 14 forming an overall framework and may buy the first accommodating bodies 10A and the second accommodating bodies 10B having various sizes. Then, the traveler may select the accommodating body 10A or 10B considering a travel purpose and a volume of articles to be carried for the travel, and may use the travel carrier 10 in a state that the selected accommodating body 10A or 10B is coupled to the frame portion 14.

In this instance, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B having various colors may be manufactured, and may be selected as necessary and be detachably coupled to the frame portion 14. In this instance, a color of the first accommodating body 10A or the second accommodating body 10B may be different from that of the frame portion 14, and may be variously varied so that a user can freely choose a color according to a taste of the user.

Meanwhile, at least one wheel 11 may be provided at lower surfaces of the first and second accommodating bodies 10A and 10B to be in rolling-contact with the ground. However, the wheel 11 is not necessarily provided in the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B. Thus, the wheel 11 may be provided in a lower end of the frame portion 14 when the frame portion 14 is relatively wide.

In this instance, the frame unit 14 may include an auxiliary housing 12 in which an electronic device E is received or accommodated. The auxiliary housing 12 may form an exclusive and separate space for receiving or accommodating the electronic device E.

A handle bar 15 may be disposed at an upper surface of the frame portion 14 to be inserted into and pulled out of the frame portion 14. The handle bar 15 is a gripped member gripped by a user so that the user can drag or pull the carrier main body 1 in a state a plurality of wheels 11 provided at the lower end of the carrier main body 1 are placed on the ground and the handle bar 15 is pulled out of the frame portion 14.

The handle bar 15 may have a cross-section of a “U” or “” shape closed by a handle 16, which is a part gripped by a traveler by hand. Guide bars 17 inserted into both ends of the frame portion 14 may be formed at both ends of the handle 16.

The guide bars 17 are inserted into and fixed to both end portions of the frame portion 14. The guide bars 17 can be pulled out of both ends of the frame portion 14 when a push button (not shown) provided at one side of the handle 16 is operated or pushed. When the guide bars 17 are pulled out of the frame portion 14 to a predetermined distance, the guide bars 17 are hooked to insides of the both ends of the frame portion 14, and thus, the guide bars 17 are prevented from being entirely separated from the frame portion 14.

Assuming that the upper end of the carrier main body 1 is arbitrarily cut in a horizontal direction, the handle bar 15 may be longitudinally disposed at the frame portion 14 in a left-right direction.

More particularly, when the upper end of the carrier main body 1 has a rectangular horizontal section which is an upper surface of a hexahedron, the frame portion 14 may be longitudinally disposed in a front-rear direction, and the handle bar 15 may be longitudinally disposed in a length direction of the frame portion 14. Therefore, the handle bar 15 is installed at the frame portion 14 that maintains a center of gravity of the carrier main body 1. Thus, in a case where the wheels 11 are provided at lower four positions of the carrier main body 1 as an example, the carrier main body 1 can be stably slid in an upright state without falling down back and forth or right and left when a traveler pushes or pulls the handle bar 15 while keeping the carrier main body 1 vertically disposed.

Meanwhile, referring to FIG. 3, a housing entrance (not designated by reference numeral) of the auxiliary housing 12 where the electronic device E is inserted or taken out is covered when the handle bar 15 is inserted into the frame portion 14 and is exposed to an outside when the handle bar 15 is pulled out of the frame portion 14.

When the handle bar 15 is pulled out of the frame portion 14, the housing entrance is exposed to the outside so that the traveler can take out the electronic device E which is stored in the auxiliary housing 12 to the outside or can insert the electronic device E which is disposed at the outside into through the housing entrance and can accommodate it in the auxiliary housing 12.

On the other hand, when the handle bar 15 is inserted into the frame portion 14, the housing entrance is closed or separated from the outside, and the electronic device E accommodated in the auxiliary housing 12 can be protected from the outside.

In the embodiment of the invention, the electronic device E may widely encompass various electronic devices, such as a notebook computer, a laptop, a tablet, and a mobile phone. However, an article that can be accommodated in the auxiliary housing 12 is not limited to the electronic device E in the invention. For example, some users may accommodate a book or the like having a relatively small thickness, instead of the electronic device E such as a notebook computer, in the auxiliary housing 12.

In this instance, the auxiliary housing 12 may have any of various structures or shapes being able to be integral with an internal structure of the frame portion 14 to form an additional accommodating space for receiving the electronic device E. For example, the auxiliary housing 12 maybe formed of an accommodating space of the frame portion formed by a pouch 18, which is formed at a lower end of the handle bar 15 so that the electronic device E is separately stored at the lower end of the handle bar 15. The pouch 18 may be formed of cloth or leather.

More particularly, as shown in FIG. 3, the auxiliary housing 12 may be inserted into and fixed to an inner space of the frame portion 14. The auxiliary housing 12 may further include a pouch 18. The pouch 18 may be detachably coupled to an upper end of the frame portion 14 where a housing entrance is disposed.

An upper end portion 19 of the pouch 18 may be detachably coupled to a zipper coupling portion 13 provided in an upper end of the frame portion 14 by a zipper. The upper portion 19 of the pouch 18 may be detachably coupled to the housing entrance by the zipper operated by the user. In addition, the pouch 18 or at least the upper end portion 19 of the pouch 18 may be formed of a cloth material or a leather material so as to facilitate coupling by the zipper.

Meanwhile, although it is not shown in the drawing, an opening and closing portion may be further provided for opening and closing a portion corresponding to the housing entrance by a zipper when the auxiliary housing 12 is form of the pouch 18.

In addition, the travel carrier according to the embodiment of the invention may include a battery (not shown), which is inserted into one side of an upper end of the first and/or second accommodating body 10A and/or 10B, and a power charging unit 20 for charging the electronic device E. The power charging unit 20 may be formed of a battery charging terminal connected to the battery.

In this instance, the battery may be detachably coupled to a battery-receiving portion formed at the first and/or second accommodating body 10A and/or 10B. Accordingly, the traveler can remove the battery from the battery-receiving portion before sending the travel carrier as a checked baggage or before boarding an airplane, and thus, the travel carrier can be safely transmitted.

Although not shown in the drawings, the battery charging terminal may have a multi-type so as to be connected to various power terminals of various electronic devices E in markets.

As described above, in the travel carrier according to the embodiment of the invention, the power charging unit 20 for charging the electronic device E is provided separately at an outer portion of the first and/or second accommodating body 10A and/or 10B, the traveler who should travel for a long time can immediately charge the electronic device E when the electronic device E is discharged.

Hereinafter, an example where the travel carrier according to the invention is used will be described with reference to the accompanying drawings (particularly, FIGS. 2 and 4).

First, when a traveler prepares for a trip, the traveler selects first and/or second accommodating body 10A and/or 10B having a suitable size in consideration of a travel purpose and a volume of articles to be carried and couples the selected first and/or second accommodating body 10A and/or 10B to a front surface and/or a rear surface of the frame portion 14.

For example, when a traveler tries to travel by plane and intends to carry the travel carrier according to the invention as a carry-on baggage on the plane, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B having sizes suitable to be inserted into a cabin of the plane may be selected and be coupled to the frame portion 14.

On the contrary, when a traveler tries to travel by plane and intends to send the travel carrier according to the invention as a checked baggage, the first accommodating body 10A and the second accommodating body 10B having relatively large sizes may be selected and be coupled to the frame portion 14. Thus, the traveler can prepare for a trip without a burden of reducing the baggage.

Meanwhile, at the time of travel by plane, in a process of carrying the travel carrier according to the invention into a cabin, a traveler pulls a handle 16 of a handle bar 15 out of the frame portion 14, as shown in FIG. 3, when the electronic device E should be inserted into an auxiliary housing 12 or be taken out of the auxiliary housing 12, or should be passed through an airport security.

In this instance, as the handle 16 of the handle bar 15 is pulled out to the outside, a housing entrance of the auxiliary housing 12, which was covered by the handle bar 15, is exposed to the outside. Then, the traveler can take out the electronic device E to the outside of the auxiliary housing 12 or insert the electronic device E into the auxiliary housing 12 through the housing entrance exposed by the handle bar 15.

Meanwhile, when there is concern for a discharge of the electronic device E, the traveler can charge the electronic device E through a battery charging terminal of a power charging unit 20 for charging the electronic device E. Thus, problems of inconvenience in using the electronic device E can be resolved.

In the travel carrier according to the embodiment of the invention, a traveler can select an accommodating body having a suitable size considering a travel purpose and a volume of portable articles, and can couple the selected accommodating body to the frame portion to form a carrier main body. The carrier main body can be stably transported through using a handle bar coupled to the frame portion for maintaining a center of gravity. Also, an electronic device can be easily inserted into and taken out of the travel carrier without opening the accommodating body when it is passed through a security device of an airport or so on, thereby improving convenience. Further, since a handle bar is provided in the frame portion, the handle is disposed at a central portion of the travel carrier, and thus, the travel carrier can be used without discriminating a front side and a rear side of the travel carrier.

In the above, some embodiments of the travel carrier according to the invention are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. However, embodiments of the invention are not necessarily limited by the above-described embodiments, and various modifications and equivalents may be made by those skilled in the art in which the invention is pertained. Therefore, the scope of the invention is defined by the following claims.
