DART HAVING A LATCHED STABILIZER FOR BLOWGUN

Abstract

A dart for a blowgun is provided with a hollow main shaft; a head releasably secured to a front end of the hollow main shaft; and a stabilizer formed with a rear portion of the hollow main shaft and including a plurality of flexible latches and a plurality of gaps each disposed between two adjacent flexible latches. The latches may expand or contract to be in a minimum friction contact with an inner wall of a blowgun in a launching operation.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention

The invention relates to darts and more particularly to a dart for a blowgun, the dart having a latched stabilizer at a rear end.

2. Description of Related Art

A conventional dart is shown in FIG. 1 and includes a main shaft A and a rigid rear B having a cone B2 and a hollow B1 in the cone B2.

However, the conventional dart has the following drawbacks. The rear B is rigid. Thus, the dart may be stuck in a blowgun (not shown) if the diameter of the conic rear B is substantially equal to an inner diameter of the blowgun in which the blowgun is used to launch the dart by using the force created by a user's forced exhalation to pneumatically propel the trajectory (i.e., dart). Alternatively, the dart may be uncontrollable if own if the diameter of the conic rear B is much less than the inner diameter of the blowgun.

Thus, the need for improvement still exists.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is therefore one object of the invention to provide a dart for a blowgun comprising a hollow main shaft; a head releasably secured to a front end of the hollow main shaft; and a stabilizer formed with a rear portion of the hollow main shaft and including a plurality of flexible latches and a plurality of gaps each disposed between two adjacent flexible latches.

The above and other objects, features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, a dart for a blowgun in accordance with a first preferred embodiment of the invention comprises the following components as discussed in detail below.

A main shaft 20 includes a hollow 21. A head 10 is releasably secured to a front end of the main shaft 20. A stabilizer 30 at a rear portion of the main shaft 20 is integrally formed with the main shaft 20. The stabilizer 30 includes four flexible latches 32 and four triangular gaps 31 each between two adjacent flexible latches 32.

Referring to FIG. 4, a stabilizer 30 of a dart for a blowgun in accordance with a second preferred embodiment of the invention is shown. The stabilizer 30 includes six flexible latches 32 and six triangular gaps 31 each between two adjacent flexible latches 32.

Referring to FIG. 5, the dart is placed inside a blowgun 40. In a launching operation, in response to producing an air current by blowing the blowgun 40, the dart may quickly pass through the blowgun 40 with the stabilizer 30 (i.e., the flexible latches 32) being in friction contact with an inner wall 41 of the blowgun 40 by either expanding or contracting. It is envisaged by the invention that the trajectory of the dart is controllable.

While the invention has been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the invention can be practiced with modifications within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. A dart for a blowgun, comprising:

a hollow main shaft;

a head releasably secured to a front end of the hollow main shaft; and

a stabilizer formed with a rear portion of the hollow main shaft and including a plurality of flexible latches and a plurality of gaps each disposed between two adjacent flexible latches.

2. The dart for a blowgun of claim 1, wherein the hollow main shaft has a predetermined length.

3. The dart for a blowgun of claim 1, wherein the number of the flexible latches is more than three, and the number of the gaps is more than three.
