CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the priority benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/591,269 filed Nov. 28, 2017 for “Workout Towel,” hereby incorporated by reference in its entirety as though fully set forth herein.

BACKGROUND

People often carry a towel when they exercise so that they can dry off their forehead from sweat. They may also have a so-called “hoodie” or other sweatshirt with a hood that they can put on after working out when they leave the gym, especially in colder climates or during winter months to stay warm. This requires that they remember to bring both the towel and hoodie whenever they go to the gym.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

A workout towel is disclosed herein which can be used as a towel during a workout, and also be worn as a hood. In an example, the workout towel includes a body portion that serves as a towel (e.g., during a workout). The body portion has magnets, buttons, or other fasteners on two corners that can be fastened around the user's neck so that the user can wear the towel around their neck and avoid misplacing it during a workout. The body also has a cord through one side. The user may wear the workout towel as a hood by raising the body portion over his or her head, and then pulling the cord around their chin.

Before continuing, it is noted that as used herein, the terms “includes” and “including” mean, but is not limited to, “includes” or “including” and “includes at least” or “including at least.” The term “based on” means “based on” and “based at least in part on.”

FIG. 1 shows an example workout towel and hood combination. The workout towel and hood combination 10 is shown as it may include a body 12. A cord 14 may be provided through one edge of the body 12. Fasteners 16 may be provided on two corners of the body portion 12. In an example, the workout towel 10 serves as both a towel and a hood.

The workout towel and hood combination 10 may be particularly desired for workouts at the gym towels, as it can be placed on the exercise machine or tied around the user's neck with a snap on with magnet so that the towel does not fall on the ground. The towel can also tie up over the user's head like a hoodie after a workout, to be work, e.g., to go in or out of the gym in cold weather with the user's head covered.

In an example, the body 12 is about 31.5 inches by about 18 inches (length and width). Two buttons are provided on the lower part of the towel that are about an inch in from the corner. The cord is about 43.5 inches long and provided along the top edge of the body 12. Of course, it is noted that the workout towel and hood combination 10 is not limited to any particular sizes. Any suitable sizes may be provided, as will be well understood by those having ordinary skill in the art after becoming familiar with the teachings herein.

The body 12 may be any suitable material. In an example, the body 12 is absorbent and washable. The body 12 may also be any size and/or shape. In an example, the body is shown to be substantially rectangular. However, other shapes are also contemplated, including but not limited to, square, other polygon, circular, curved, etc.

In an example, the cord 14 is provided in a hem sewn along the one edge of the body 12. The cord may be free to slide all the way in and out of the hem. Or the cord 14 may be attached (e.g., sewn) so that it cannot be pulled all the way out. More than one cord (not shown) may be provided. More than one hem (e.g., on one or more edges of the body 12) can also be provided. The cord 14 may also be otherwise provided on the body and is not limited to be provided in a hem (e.g., within loops, sewn directly to the body, etc.).

In an example, the fasteners 16 are magnets that can connect together. However, any suitable fasteners 16 may be provided, including but not limited to hook-and-loop (e.g., VELCRO®), button/button hole, etc.

FIG. 2 shows the example workout towel and hood combination of FIG. 1, with a corner folded over to show an example fastener. FIG. 3 is a close-up view of a corner of the example workout towel and hood combination of FIG. 1. FIG. 4 is a close-up view of the corner of the example workout towel and hood combination of FIG. 3, showing the corner folded over to view the fastener.

In an example, the workout towel and hood combination 10 includes the body 12, the fastener(s) 16 on the body 12 for connecting two substantially opposite portions of the body 12 together around a person's neck, and the cord(s) 14. The body 12 is configured to be worn down around the person's neck as a workout towel. The body is also configured to be worn up over the person's head as a hood. The cord 14 may be fastened around the person's face (e.g., the chin) when worn as a hood.

In an example, the workout towel and hood combination 10 includes a retainer 18 for the cord to keep the cord with the body. The retainer 18 for the cord 14 can be a hem along a first edge of the body 12. The hem may be sewn by folding over the first edge of the body 12, or provided separately (e.g., attached to the body 12.

The first edge of the body 12 having the hem is opposite a second edge of the body 12 having the fasteners 16. The fasteners 16 connect a first corner of the body 12 to a second corner of the body 12. Of course, the fasteners 16 may be provided to connect other portions of the body 12 and/or to attach other items to the body 12.

In an example, a first end of the cord 14 is provided at a third corner of the body 12, and a second end of the cord 14 is provided at a fourth corner of the body 12. The cord 14 may slide within the hem 18 and/or be at least partially sewn onto the body 12 (e.g., to prevent losing the cord 14.

Before continuing, it should be noted that the examples described above are provided for purposes of illustration, and are not intended to be limiting. Other devices and/or device configurations may be utilized to carry out the operations described herein.

FIG. 5a is a front view of the example workout towel and hood combination as it may be worn around a person's neck as a workout towel. FIG. 5b is a back view of the example workout towel and hood combination as it may be worn around a person's neck as a workout towel.

In use, the workout towel 10 may be implemented as a towel (e.g., to wipe sweat during a workout). The workout towel 10 may be wrapped around a user's neck and connected by the fasteners 16. This may help keep the towel available during a workout and/or help keep it from being misplaced.

FIG. 6a is a front view of the example workout towel and hood combination as it may be worn as a hood. FIG. 6b is a back view of the example workout towel and hood combination as it may be worn as a hood. In an example, the body portion of the towel can be raised over the head of the user. In this example, the user would grasp the lower edge when it is buttoned around their neck (e.g., as in FIGS. 5a and 5b), the edge having the hem for the cord, and raise the body over their head and around their face to form the hood. Then the cord can be pulled around and tightened about the user's chin to be worn as a hood.

FIG. 6c is a front view of the example workout towel and hood combination as it may be worn in a different configuration as a hood. In this example, the user would grasp the upper edge (e.g., the edge opposite the hem for the cord) and just pull it straight up over their head to form the hood.

The operations described herein are provided to illustrate example implementations. It is noted that the operations are not limited to the ordering shown. Still other operations may also be implemented.

It is noted that the examples shown and described are provided for purposes of illustration and are not intended to be limiting. Still other examples are also contemplated.
