In accordance with the purpose(s) of the disclosure, as embodied and broadly described herein, the disclosure, in one aspect, relates to a multipurpose bag comprising a bag body, a bag dividing insert, and a slidable drawer component. In various aspects, the the bag body comprises two endwalls, two sidewalls, a base, and a top opening. The two sidewalls of the bag body are constructed from a flexible material. The slidable drawer component comprises a drawer base, a drawer first endwall, a drawer second endwall, a drawer first sidewall, and a drawer second sidewall. The bag body is constructed such that at least one endwall has a drawer opening through which the slidable drawer component can be pulled to expose the drawer interior. CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This Application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/708,847, filed on Dec. 26, 2017, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present disclosure relates generally to a multipurpose bag, and in particular to a multipurpose bag having an internal grid component separating the multipurpose bag into an upper section and a lower section comprising a drawer component.

BACKGROUND

Bags for carrying tools, small supplies, materials, and other items are useful for workers and others to carry needed required items from home to work, from one work site to another work site, or during travel from one location to another. Although tool carriers have historically been made of metal, wood or other rigid materials, more recently, tool carriers fabricated from durable fabrics and textiles have become popular. Although conventional tool carriers of the prior art are useful in some instances, there are still numerous deficiencies and the potential for more useful tool carriers and tool carrier features. For example, it is desirable to carry often items of varying size, from items that are large and bulky to small items such as screws, nails, and other relatively small items. In conventional bags, the small items frequently are found in the bottom of the bag where it is difficult to locate them and necessary to remove many, if not all, of the larger, bulkier items in the bag. These needs and other needs are satisfied by the present disclosure.

SUMMARY

In accordance with the purpose(s) of the disclosure, as embodied and broadly described herein, the disclosure, in one aspect, relates to a multipurpose bag comprising a bag body, a bag dividing insert, and a slidable drawer component. In various aspects, the the bag body comprises two endwalls, two sidewalls, a base, and a top opening. In an aspect, the slidable drawer component comprises a drawer base, a drawer first endwall, a drawer second endwall, a drawer first sidewall, and a drawer second sidewall. The bag body is constructed such that at least one endwall has a drawer opening through which the slidable drawer component can be pulled to expose the drawer interior. The bag dividing insert is placed above the slidable drawer component. In some aspects, the bag dividing insert is placed to provide a gap between the top edges of the slidable drawer component and the lower face of the bag dividing insert such that the slidable drawer component is not contact with the bag dividing insert. In some instances, a lower surface of the drawer bottom is in contact with a upper surface of the bag base when closed.

Furthermore, the individual features of the dependent claims, as well as all optional and preferred features and modifications of the described embodiments are combinable and interchangeable with one another.

It is to be understood that such a range format is used for convenience and brevity, and thus, should be interpreted in a flexible manner to include not only the numerical values explicitly recited as the limits of the range, but also to include all the individual numerical values or sub-ranges encompassed within that range as if each numerical value and sub-range is explicitly recited. That is, it is understood that amounts, sizes, formulations, parameters, and other quantities and characteristics are not and need not be exact, but may be approximate and/or larger or smaller, as desired, reflecting tolerances, conversion factors, rounding off, measurement error and the like, and other factors known to those of skill in the art such that equivalent results or effects are obtained. As used herein, the terms “optional” or “optionally” means that the subsequently described event or circumstance can or cannot occur, and that the description includes instances where said event or circumstance occurs and instances where it does not.

Throughout the description, the use of like character references in different views and contexts make reference to the same item. The drawings are shown with component or item dimensions of relative size, but not necessarily exact dimensional relationship. That is, components or items may vary in size and be considered within the scope of the present disclosure.

The present disclosure pertains to a multipurpose bag having a multipurpose bag body enclosing an accessible interior volume. The multipurpose bag body is formed from a bag base with a multipurpose bag a first endwall, a second endwall, a first sidewall, and a second sidewall. The disclosed multipurpose bag further comprises an insert component that divides the upper volume of the multipurpose bag from a lower volume, with a slidable drawer component situated when fully closed within the lower volume. The upper volume is accessible via flexible open that can be fixed in a closed position using a fastener, e.g., a zipper. The slidable drawer component, when fully closed, can be maintained in a closed position by means of a fastener, such as a zipper, hook-and-loop fastening system (e.g., Velcro), snaps, strap and buckle, and the like.

In various aspects, disclosed herein is a multipurpose bag comprising a bag body, a bag dividing insert, and a slidable drawer component; wherein the bag body comprises a bag base, a bag first endwall, a bag second endwall, a bag first sidewall, and a bag second sidewall; wherein the bag first endwall comprises a slidable door opening; wherein the slidable drawer component comprises a drawer base, a drawer first endwall, a drawer second endwall, a drawer first sidewall, and a drawer second sidewall.

In some aspects, the bag first sidewall and/or the bag second sidewall comprise a flexible material that allows these portions to flex and change shape as pressure is applied to a surface, e.g., comprise leather, a flexible fabric, or combinations thereof. The flexible fabric of a sidewall can be a fabric comprising a polyamide, a polyester, a polyurethane, or combinations thereof. In some instances, the sidewall can comprise a polyamide that is ballistic nylon.

In some aspects, the bag first endwall, the bag second endwall, the bag first sidewall, and/or the bag second sidewall comprise a flexible material that allows these portions to flex and change shape as pressure is applied to a surface, e.g., comprise leather, a flexible fabric, or combinations thereof. The flexible fabric of a sidewall or endwall can be a fabric comprising a polyamide, a polyester, a polyurethane, or combinations thereof. In some instances, the sidewall or endwall can comprise a polyamide that is ballistic nylon.

In some instances the bag base is flexible. However, in other instances it may be desirable for the bag base to be rigid or semi-rigid. Various materials for the base are discussed in further detail herein below.

Referring now to FIG. 1A, a perspective view of a disclosed multipurpose bag 1000 comprising a bag body 100 and a slidable drawer component 110 is shown. The multipurpose 1000 bag comprises a bag body 100 formed from a bag base 15 (not visible in this perspective view), a bag first endwall 40, a bag second endwall 41, a bag first sidewall 30, and a bag second sidewall 31. Thus, the bag base 15 (not visible in this perspective view), the bag first endwall 40, the bag second endwall 41, the bag first sidewall 30, and the bag second sidewall 31 segregate an interior volume of the bag body from the outside of the bag. The bag sidewalls are flexible and move or rotate to provide an opening to the interior volume of the bag.

The bag base 15 is associated with outer edges, which are each depicted in FIG. 1B, i.e., a first base edge 90, a second base edge 91, a third base edge 92 (also visible in FIG. 1A as shown), and a fourth base edge 93. The bag body 100 can further comprise one or more flexible handles. In a particular aspect, as shown, the bag body 100 can comprise a first bag handle 9 and a second bag handle 10. In various aspects, the bag first handle and the bag second handle can be flexible. In a further aspect, the bag first handle and the bag second handle are flexible, and comprise an inner flexible cord wrapped in a flexible material, leather, or combinations thereof. In a still further aspect, the bag first handle and the bag second handle comprise a flexible inner cord, e.g., a rubber or elastic cord, wrapped in a flexible material, leather, or combinations thereof.

The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag dividing insert is rigid. Alternatively, the bag first handle and the bag second handle can be rigid, e.g., molded from a rigid polymer or formed from a metal such as stainless steel or aluminum.

The bag body 100 can further comprise a bag closable mechanism 50, e.g., a zipper or hook-and-loop mechanism (e.g., Velcro), attached to the upper edges of the bag first endwall 40, the bag second endwall 41, the bag first sidewall 30, and the bag second sidewall 31 as shown in the figure. The bag body 100 can further comprise one or more pocket components attached to an exterior surface of a bag sidewall. As shown in, in a particular aspect, the bag body 100 comprises two pocket components attached to the bag first sidewall.

As shown, the slidable drawer component 110 of the multipurpose bag is formed from a drawer base 60, a drawer first endwall 16, a drawer second endwall 17 (not visible in this perspective view), a drawer first sidewall 20, and a drawer second sidewall 21. The slidable drawer component 110 can comprise a closure component 71 that is engageable with a mating closure component 70 suitably located on the first bag endwall 40. The closure components 71 and 70 can be any suitable engaging closure system such as, but not limited to, a hook-and-loop system (e.g., Velcro), a snap system, or two cords that can be tied together. The drawer first endwall is associated with an upper edge 80 that is lower than the bottom edge 81 of the bag first endwall drawer opening 45 (the drawer opening is not visible in this perspective drawing, but is depicted in FIGS. 1B, 1C and 1D). Thus, the drawer base 60, the drawer first endwall 16, the drawer second endwall 17, the drawer first sidewall 20, and the drawer second sidewall 21 segregate an interior volume of the slidable drawer component from the outside of the drawer. The bag sidewalls can be flexible or rigid.

Referring now to FIG. 1B, the perspective view of FIG. 1A is shown certain interior features indicated with dashed lines. In particular, as shown, the multipurpose bag 1000 comprises a bag body 100 formed from a bag base 15, a bag first endwall 40, a bag second endwall 41, a bag first sidewall 30, and a bag second sidewall 31. The bag base 15 is associated with outer edges, which are each depicted in FIG. 1B, i.e., a first base edge 90, a second base edge 91, a third base edge 92, and a fourth base edge 93. The bag body 100 can further comprise one or more flexible handles. In a particular aspect, as shown, the bag body 100 can comprise a first bag handle 9 and a second bag handle 10. The bag body 100 can further comprise a closable mechanism 50, e.g., a zipper or hook-and-loop mechanism (e.g., Velcro), attached to the upper edges of the bag first endwall 40, the bag second endwall 41, the bag first sidewall 30, and the bag second sidewall 31 as shown in the figure. The bag body 100 can further comprise one or more pocket components attached to an exterior surface of a bag sidewall. As shown in, in a particular aspect, the bag body 100 comprises two pocket components attached to the bag first sidewall. As shown, the slidable drawer component 110 of the multipurpose bag is formed from a drawer base 60, a drawer first endwall 16, a drawer second endwall 17, a drawer first sidewall 20, and a drawer second sidewall 21. The slidable drawer component 110 can comprise a closure component 71 that is engageable with a mating closure component 70 suitably located on the first bag endwall 40. The closure components 71 and 70 can be any suitable engaging closure system such as, but not limited to, a hook-and-loop system (e.g., Velcro), a snap system, or two cords that can be tied together. The drawer first endwall is associated with a drawer endwall upper edge 80 that is lower than the drawer opening top edge 81 of the bag drawer opening 45, i.e., a small gap can exist between drawer endwall upper edge 80 and the drawer opening top edge 81.

Referring now to FIGS. 1C and 1D, plan end views are shown of the bag first endwall 40 with the bag drawer opening 45 shown located therein. The plan end views show the bag body in an closed position (FIG. 1C) with the bag closable mechanism 50 engaged and a open position (FIG. 1D) with the bag closable mechanism 50 disengaged.

Referring now to FIG. 2, a cross-sectional perspective view of a disclosed multipurpose bag is shown with a top opening, a sidewall and an endwall with a drawer opening and an slidable drawer component partially opened. Importantly, FIG. 2 shows a portion of a dividing insert 3 placed within the interior volume of the bag. Although the dividing insert 3 is shown in FIG. 2 as grid with cross-members and openings, in other instances, the dividing insert 3 can be solid. Although the dividing insert 3 can be flexible, in other instances the dividing insert 3 is semi-rigid or rigid. In some instances, the dividing insert 3 is rigid and comprises the rigid material comprises aluminum, galvanized steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, one or more rigid polymers, or combinations thereof.

As depicted in FIG. 2, the dividing insert 3 subdivides the overall interior volume of the bag body into an upper region, positioned above the dividing insert 3, and a lower region, positioned below the dividing insert 3, into which the slidable drawer component fits into. In some aspects, the can be removable and attach in place via a suitable plurality of dividing insert securing components. The dividing insert securing components can comprise straps that attach via a hook-and-loop system (e.g., Velcro) or a snap mechanism. In other aspects, the dividing insert 3 is permanently fixed in place via an adhesive, straps fixed around the dividing insert 3 and permanently secured (e.g., sewn or use of an adhesive), or sewn in place with flaps secured around the dividing insert 3.

Referring now to FIG. 3A, a perspective view of a disclosed multipurpose bag is shown with a top opening, a sidewall and an endwall with a drawer opening and a slidable drawer component removed from the bag body. The double-headed arrow shows the alignment of the slidable drawer component through the drawer opening. The figure shows dimensional indicators for a bag body length dimension, a bag body width dimension, and a bag body drawer opening height dimension, which are designated a, c, and e, respectively in the figure. The figure shows dimensional indicators for a slidable drawer length dimension, a slidable drawer width dimension, and a slidable drawer drawer opening height dimension, which are designated b, d, and f, respectively in the figure. Thus, it is understood that in order to allow the drawer to slide through the drawer opening and fit within the bag body that dimensions a, c, and e are somewhat larger than dimensions b, d, and f. In some instances, the dimensions a, c, and e are about 1/128 to about ⅛ of inch greater than the dimensions b, d, and f. It is understood that any dimension difference within and inclusive of about 1/128 to about ⅛ are disclosed herein.

Refererring now to FIG. 3B, an alternative slidable drawer component is shown with a plurality of compartments dividing the interior space of the slidable drawer component 110. This is in contrast to the interior space shown for the slidable drawer component 110 in FIG. 3A, which is depicted as a single continuous drawer volume without further sub-division. In FIG. 3B, the plurality of compartments is shown as three similarly sized compartments. Other configurations are possible without departing from the present disclosure, e.g., the interior space of the slidable drawer component 110 can comprise from 2 to 64 individual compartments. In some aspects, the interior space of the slidable drawer component 110 can comprise 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, any combination of the foregoing number of compartments, or any range of compartment number comprising any two values in the foregoing list.

Referring now to FIG. 4, a perspective view of a disclosed multipurpose bag with a top opening, a sidewall and an endwall with a drawer opening and a slidable drawer component partially opened is shown. The multipurpose bag 1000 comprising a bag first handle 9, bag second handle 10, bag base 15, bag first sidewall 30, bag second sidewall 31, bag first endwall 40, bag second endwall 41, can be fabricated from a suitable material as fabric, e.g. nylon or canvas; plastic; leather; or combinations thereof, e.g. plastic reinforced fabric. Similarly, the slidable drawer component 110 comprising a drawer first endwall 16, drawer second endwall 17, drawer first sidewall 20, drawer second sidewall 21, and drawer base 60 can be fabricated from a suitable material as fabric, e.g. nylon or canvas; plastic; leather; or combinations thereof, e.g. plastic reinforced fabric. In some aspects, the materials used in construction of the multipurpose bag and slidable drawer component can be fabricated from the same materials or different materials.

In some aspects, the slidable drawer component 110 comprising a drawer first endwall 16, drawer second endwall 17, drawer first sidewall 20, drawer second sidewall 21, and drawer base 60 can be fabricated from any suitable rigid or semi-rigid material, including, but not limited to, one or more polymers, e.g. a rigid thermoplastic or thermoset polymer such as a polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyesters and the like; metal, e.g. steel, galvanized steel, tin and the like; particle board; stiffened fabric materials, wooden planks or sheets; and combinations thereof, e.g. particle board disposed between polypropylene sheets. In some instances, the rigid material comprises one or more rods that are parallel to one another; or wherein the rigidi material comprises a plurality of rods arranged as two sets of parallel rods perpendicular to one another. If the rigid material of the bag base comprises one or more rods, these may be held in place between two sheets of fabric and sewn in place. In some aspects, it may be useful to have the rigid material of the bag base comprise a magnetic material, including, but not limited to, a rare earth magnetic material.

In some aspects, the multipurpose bag dividing insert 3 can be fabricated from any suitable rigid or semi-rigid material, including, but not limited to, one or more polymers, e.g. a rigid thermoplastic or thermoset polymer such as a polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), polyesters and the like; metal, e.g. steel, galvanized steel, tin and the like; particle board; stiffened fabric materials, wooden planks or sheets; and combinations thereof, e.g. particle board disposed between polypropylene sheets.

While specific elements and steps are discussed in connection to one another, it is understood that any element and/or steps provided herein is contemplated as being combinable with any other elements and/or steps regardless of explicit provision of the same while still being within the scope provided herein.

It will be understood that certain features and subcombinations are of utility and may be employed without reference to other features and subcombinations. This is contemplated by and is within the scope of the claims.

Since many possible aspects may be made without departing from the scope thereof, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings and detailed description is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Claims

1. A multipurpose bag comprising:

a bag body, a bag dividing insert, and a slidable drawer component;
wherein the bag body comprises a bag base, a bag first endwall, a bag second endwall, a bag first sidewall, and a bag second sidewall;
wherein the bag first endwall comprises a slidable door opening;
wherein the slidable drawer component comprises a drawer base, a drawer first endwall, a drawer second endwall, a drawer first sidewall, and a drawer second sidewall.

2. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag first endwall, the bag second endwall, the bag first sidewall, and the bag second sidewall comprise leather, a flexible fabric, or combinations thereof.

3. The multipurpose bag of claim 2, wherein the flexible fabric comprises a polyamide, a polyester, a polyurethane, or combinations thereof.

4. The multipurpose bag of claim 3, wherein the polyamide is a ballistic nylon.

5. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the multipurpose bag further comprises a bag first handle and a bag second handle.

6. The multipurpose bag of claim 5, wherein the bag first handle and the bag second handle are flexible.

7. The multipurpose bag of claim 6, wherein the bag first handle and the bag second handle comprise an inner flexible cord wrapped in a flexible material, leather, or combinations thereof.

8. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag dividing insert is rigid.

9. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag dividing insert is essentially solid and without openings.

10. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag dividing insert comprises a grid of openings.

11. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag dividing insert comprises a rigid material.

12. The multipurpose bag of claim 11, wherein the rigid material comprises aluminum, galvanized steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, one or more polymers, or combinations thereof.

13. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the bag base comprises a rigid material.

14. The multipurpose bag of claim 13, wherein the rigid material comprises aluminum, galvanized steel, stainless steel, brass, copper, one or more polymers, or combinations thereof.

15. The multipurpose bag of claim 14, wherein the rigid material is a sheet of rigid material.

16. The multipurpose bag of claim 14, wherein the rigid material comprises one or more rods that are parallel to one another; or wherein the rigidi material comprises a plurality of rods arranged as two sets of parallel rods perpendicular to one another.

17. The multipurpose bag of claim 14, wherein the rigid material formed as a rigid mesh.

18. The multipurpose bag of claim 13, wherein the rigid material comprises a magnetic material.

19. The multipurpose bag of claim 18, wherein the magnetic material comprises a rare earth magnetic material.

20. The multipurpose bag of claim 1, wherein the slidable drawer is divided into an array of compartments.
