Purse with Concealable Compartments

The purse with concealable compartments is an apparatus that houses a variety of items. A first compartment and a second compartment are defined as the apparatus includes an outer layer, a folding edge, at least one flap, at least one elongated fastener, and a plurality of fasteners. The first compartment houses a variety of items such as money, cards, and so on, which are readily viewable. The second compartment houses preferably concealed items such as feminine products. The folding edge laterally traverses across the outer layer such that the outer layer surrounds the variety of items. The at least one flap is hingedly connected with the outer layer thereby concealing the preferably concealed items with the plurality of fasteners. The at least one elongated fastener secures the items within the apparatus as the at least one elongated fastener is perimetrically connected across an inner surface of the outer layer.

Description

The current application claims a priority to the U.S. Provisional Patent application Ser. No. 62/629,368 filed on Feb. 12, 2018.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a purse. More specifically, the present invention is a purse with concealable compartments that effectively conceals feminine hygiene products in an organized manner, allowing the present invention to be used like a purse.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Handbags are a very common and necessary accessory for many women. Types of handbags include cross-body bags, satchels, shoulder bags, totes, and bucket bags. Wallets and wristlets and other similar cases are some of the items that are typically placed into the handbags for a secure transportation of needed and/or valued items. Such needed items other than money or makeup are feminine hygiene products. A common problem encountered by women is the containment and removal of feminine products without the products being visible to persons nearby.

The present invention is a purse that effectively conceals and contains feminine hygiene products. Such feminine products include feminine deodorant spray, feminine wipes, pantyliners, tampons, pads, and hand sanitizer. Feminine products are concealed within the present invention with flaps, which also delineate a hidden compartment from an easily accessible and viewable compartment of the present invention. This easily accessible and viewable compartment of the present invention is preferably utilized as a purse.

 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

The present invention is a purse with concealable compartments that allows a user to conceal items, specifically feminine products, while utilizing the remainder of the purse for a variety of other transportable items such as paper money, credit cards, coins, and so on. The present invention serves as a stylistic accent to the outfit of a user while providing a secure and organized containment of desired items. In order for the present invention to serve as a purse while effectively concealing feminine products, the present invention comprises an outer layer 1, a folding edge 8, at least one flap 9, at least one elongated fastener 14, and a plurality of fasteners 21, seen in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, and FIG. 4. The outer layer 1 protects and contains both viewable items and preferably concealed items. The outer layer 1 preferably comprises a durable material with a more rigid construction in order to define an overall structure for the present invention. The outer layer 1 also houses the at least one flap 9 and the plurality of fasteners 21. The folding edge 8 allows the outer layer 1 to open and close in order for a user to access both the viewable and preferably concealed items. The folding edge 8 also defines a compact structure for the present invention. The at least one flap 9 houses and separates the preferably concealed items from direct view within the present invention. The at least one flap 9 also defines a first compartment from a second compartment with the at least one elongated fastener 14 and the plurality of fasteners 21. The first compartment houses the viewable items, and the second compartment comprises the preferably concealed items. The at least one elongated fastener 14 opens and closes the outer layer 1 about the folding edge 8. The at least one elongated fastener 14 is preferably a zipper. The plurality of fasteners 21 attaches and detaches the at least one flap 9 with the outer layer 1. The plurality of fasteners 21 is preferably a set of magnets. However, the plurality of fasteners 21 may also be a set of velcro straps and a variety of other fasteners that allow the at least one fastener to be easily attached and detached from the outer layer 1. The at least one flap 9 and the at least one elongated fastener 14 define the first compartment. The at least one flap 9, the outer layer 1, and the plurality of fastener define the second compartment.

The overall arrangement of the aforementioned components allows the user to easily house and access items within the first compartment and the second compartment. The outer layer 1 houses a variety of items as the folding edge 8 laterally traverses across the outer layer 1, allowing the outer layer 1 to surround the variety of items. Seen in FIG. 1, an inner surface 2 of the outer layer 1 is positioned opposite an outer surface 3 of the outer layer 1 about the outer layer 1. The inner surface 2 presses against the preferably concealed items, and the outer surface 3 comes into contact with surfaces and items of the surrounding environment. The at least one elongated fastener 14 is perimetrically connected across the inner surface 2 in order to secure the viewable items within the first compartment, and consequently the concealable items within the second compartment. A first portion 4 of the outer layer 1 is positioned opposite a second portion 5 of the outer layer 1 about the folding edge 8, also seen in FIG. 1. Moreover, the first portion 4 and the second portion 5 each are defined by the at least one elongated fastener 14 and the folding edge 8. The first compartment and the second compartment are separated as the at least one flap 9 traverses along and across the inner surface 2 and is positioned within the at least one elongated fastener 14. This arrangement also completely conceals the preferably concealed items within the second compartment. The preferably concealed items are housed within the second compartment as a fixed edge 10 of the at least one flap 9 is positioned opposite a free edge 11 of that at least one flap 9. Moreover, the fixed edge 10 of the at least one flap 9 is hingedly connected across the inner surface 2, and the free edge 11 is removably connected with the inner surface 2 with the plurality of fasteners 21. The viewable items are housed within the first compartment as the first portion 4 is removably connected with the second portion 5 with the at least one elongated fastener 14.

In order for the at least one elongated fastener 14 to open and close the first compartment, the at least one elongated fastener 14 comprises a first interlocking portion 15 and a second interlocking portion 16, seen in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 5. The first interlocking portion 15 is perimetrically fixed with the first portion 4, and the second interlocking portion 16 is perimetrically fixed with the second portion 5. The folding edge 8 is positioned between the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16 thereby enclosing around the entirety of the first compartment. The at least one elongated fastener 14 secures the items within the present invention as the first interlocking portion 15 is engaged with the second interlocking portion 16. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16 are zipper tracks that are connected and disconnected with a zipper handle.

Furthermore, in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the at least one elongated fastener 14 comprises a first pull tab 17, a second pull tab 18, a first end 19, and a second end 20, also seen in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 5. The first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 allows a user to manually open and close only a portion of the first compartment. The first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 are preferably each a zipper handle. The first end 19 and the second end 20 stop the first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 from slipping past the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16. The first end 19 is terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16. Similarly, the second end 20 is terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16, opposite the first end 19. More specifically, the folding edge is positioned in between the first end 19 and the second end 20. In order for the first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 to connect and disconnect the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16 with each other, the first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 are slidably engaged with both the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16, wherein the first pull tab 17 and the second pull tab 18 open and close the outer layer 1 with the first interlocking portion 15 and the second interlocking portion 16.

The second compartment is further divided in the preferred embodiment of the present invention as the at least one flap 9 comprises a first flap 12 and a second flap 13, seen in FIG. 3, FIG. 4, and FIG. 5. The first flap 12 is connected adjacent the first portion 4 of the outer layer 1, and the second flap 13 is connected adjacent the second portion 5 of the outer layer 1. This arrangement enhances the organization of the present invention. Moreover, the user may access specific preferably concealed items while minimizing the exposure of the remaining preferably concealed items. In the preferred configuration of the first flap 12 and the second flap 13, the free edge 11 of the first flap 12 is positioned adjacent the folding edge 8. Similarly, the free edge 11 of the second flap 13 is positioned adjacent the folding edge 8.

The present invention compartmentalizes the viewable items within the first compartment as the present invention further comprises a pocket 22 and a key holder 25, seen in FIG. 2 and FIG. 3. The pocket 22 preferably houses coins. However, the pocket 22 may house a variety of similar small items as well. The present invention further comprises a supplementary elongated fastener 24 so that the pocket 22 may be open and closed. The pocket 22 is integrated within the at least one flap 9, and a rim 23 of the pocket 22 is removably attached with the at least one flap 9 with the supplementary elongated fastener 24. Similar to the at least one elongated fastener 14, the supplementary elongated fastener 24 is a zipper as well. The key holder 25 preferably retains a key or similar item so that a key does not freely move within the first compartment. The key holder 25 comprises a flexible strap 26 and a key ring 29. The flexible strap 26 allows a user to maneuver the keys outside of the present invention, and the key ring 29 attaches a key or similar item with the flexible strap 26. The flexible strap 26 is positioned adjacent the at least one strap, opposite the inner surface 2 of the outer layer 1. A fixed end 27 of the flexible strap 26 is connected adjacent the fixed end 27 of the at least one flap 9. A free end 28 of the flexible strap 26 is positioned opposite the fixed end 27 of the flexible strap 26, across the flexible strap 26. The key ring 29 is connected to the free end 28 of the flexible strap 26.

In order to keep the preferably concealed items organized within the second compartment, the present invention further comprises at least one first restraint 30 and at least one second restraint 31, seen in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5. The at least one first restraint 30 secures preferably concealed items against the first portion 4 of the outer layer 1, and the at least one second restraint 31 secures preferably concealed items against the second portion 5 of the outer layer 1. The at least one first restraint 30 comprises an elongated band 32, a first end 33, and a second end 34. The elongated band 32 wraps around a preferably concealed item and feminine product. The first end 33 is positioned opposite the second end 34 across the elongated band 32. The first end 33 and the second end 34 are fixed to the inner surface 2 of the outer layer 1. Moreover, the elongated band 32 is positioned within the first portion 4 of the outer layer 1. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the at least one first restraint 30 comprises a couple of bands 35. The couple of bands 35 is distributed across the first portion 4 of the outer layer 1. More specifically, the couple of bands 35 is positioned adjacent each other and oriented parallel to the folding edge 8.

In order to secure preferably concealed items with the second portion 5 of the outer layer 1, the at least one second restraint 31 comprises an elongated band 32, a first end 33, and a second end 34, similar to the at least one first restraint 30. Also seen in FIG. 4 and FIG. 5, the first end 33 is positioned opposite the second end 34 across the elongated band 32. The first end 33 and the second end 34 are fixed to the inner surface 2 of the protective outer layer 1. More specifically, the elongated band 32 is positioned within the second portion 5 of the protective outer layer 1. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the at least one second restraint 31 comprises a first band 36, a second band 37, a third band 38, and a fourth band 39. The first band 36, the second band 37, and the fourth band 39 are distributed across the second portion 5 of the outer layer 1 and are oriented perpendicular with the folding edge 8. The first band 36 and the second band 37 preferably each secure individual item as the first band 36 is positioned adjacent the third band 38, and the second band 37 is positioned adjacent the fourth band 39. The third band 38 and the fourth band 39 preferably together secures an individual item. In order for both the third band 38 and the fourth band 39 to secure an item, the third band 38 is aligned with the fourth band 39. Moreover, a slot 40 is defined with the third band 38 and the fourth band 39.

The present invention is easily held by the user as the present invention preferably comprises a wrist strap 42 and the outer layer 1 comprises a rim 6, seen in FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, and FIG. 4. The rim 6 is perimetrically fixed adjacent the outer layer 1, across an outer edge 7 of the outer layer 1. More specifically, the outer edge 7 traverses across the first portion 4 and the second portion 5 of the outer layer 1. The wrist strap 42 is removably coupled with the rim 6, allowing the user to attach and detach the wrist strap 42 with the outer layer 1. The preferred embodiment of the present invention further comprises an eyelet 41, and the wrist strap 42 comprises a flexible band 43 and a clasp 46. The clasp 46 connects the flexible band 43 with the outer layer 1 through the eyelet 41. The clasp 46 connects with the outer layer 1 as the eyelet 41 is connected with the rim 6. A first end 44 of the flexible band 43 and a second end 45 of the flexible band 43 are positioned opposite each other across the flexible band 43, and the first end 44 and the second end 45 are connected with each other with the clasp 46. The present invention may hang from a wrist as a loop 47 is defined with the flexible band 43 and the clasp 46. If the user wishes not to have the wrist strap 42 hang from the outer layer 1, the clasp 46 is removably coupled with the rim 6 with the eyelet 41. Various embodiments of the present invention may comprise a handle, a body strap, and so on in order for a user to comfortably carry the present invention while enhancing the style of the user

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. A purse with concealable compartments comprises:

an outer layer;
a folding edge;
at least one flap;
at least one elongated fastener;
a plurality of fasteners;
the folding edge laterally traversing across the outer layer;
an inner surface of the outer layer being positioned opposite an outer surface of the outer layer about the outer layer;
the at least one elongated fastener being perimetrically connected across the inner surface;
a first portion of the outer layer being positioned opposite a second portion of the outer layer about the folding edge;
the first portion and the second portion each being defined by the at least one elongated fastener and the folding edge;
the at least one flap traversing along and across the inner surface;
the at least one flap being positioned within the at least one elongated fastener;
a fixed edge of the at least one flap being positioned opposite a free edge of the at least one flap;
the fixed edge of the at least one flap being hingedly connected across the inner surface;
the free edge being removably connected with the inner surface with the plurality of fasteners; and,
the first portion being removably connected with the second portion with the at least one elongated fastener.

2. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the at least one elongated fastener comprises a first interlocking portion and a second interlocking portion;
the first interlocking portion being perimetrically fixed with the first portion;
the second interlocking portion being perimetrically fixed with the second portion;
the folding edge being positioned between the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion; and,
the first interlocking portion being engaged with the second interlocking portion.

3. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 2 comprises:

the at least one elongated fastener comprises a first pull tab, a second pull tab, a first end, and a second end;
the first end being terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion;
the second end being terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion, opposite the first end;
the folding edge being positioned in between the first end and the second end; and,
the first pull tab and the second pull tab being slidably engaged with the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion, wherein the first pull tab and the second pull tab open and close the outer layer with the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion.

4. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the at least one flap comprises a first flap and a second flap;
the first flap is connected adjacent the first portion of the outer layer; and,
the second flap is connected adjacent the second portion of the outer layer.

5. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 4 comprises:

the free edge of the first flap being positioned adjacent the folding edge; and,
the free edge of the second flap being positioned adjacent the folding edge.

6. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a pocket;
a supplementary elongated fastener;
the pocket being integrated within the at least one flap; and,
a rim of the pocket being removably attached with the at least one flap with the supplementary elongated fastener.

7. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a key holder;
the key holder comprises a flexible strap and a key ring;
the flexible strap being positioned adjacent the at least one flap, opposite the inner surface of the outer layer;
a fixed end of the flexible strap being connected adjacent the fixed end of the at least one flap;
a free end of the flexible strap being positioned opposite the fixed end of the flexible strap, across the flexible strap; and,
the key ring being connected to the free end of the flexible strap.

8. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

at least one first restraint;
the at least one first restraint comprises an elongated band, a first end, and a second end;
the first end being positioned opposite the second end across the elongated band;
the first end and the second end being fixed to the inner surface of the outer layer; and,
the elongated band being positioned within the first portion of the outer layer.

9. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 8 comprises:

the at least one first restraint comprises a couple of bands;
the couple of bands being distributed across the first portion of the outer layer; and,
the couple of bands being positioned adjacent each other and oriented parallel to the folding edge.

10. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

at least second restraint;
the at least second elastic restraint comprises an elongated band, a first end, and a second end;
the first end being positioned opposite the second end across the elongated band;
the first end and the second end being fixed to the inner surface of the outer layer; and,
the elongated band being positioned within the second portion of the outer layer.

11. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 10 comprises:

the at least one second restraint comprises a first band, a second band, a third band, and a fourth band;
the first band, the second band, the third band, and the fourth band being distributed across the second portion of the outer layer;
the first band, the second band, the third band, and the fourth band being oriented perpendicular with the folding edge;
the first band being positioned adjacent the third band;
the second band being positioned adjacent the fourth band;
the third band being aligned with the fourth band; and,
a slot being defined with the third band and the fourth band.

12. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a wrist strap;
the outer layer comprises a rim;
the rim being perimetrically fixed adjacent the outer layer, across an outer edge of the outer layer;
the outer edge traversing across the first portion and the second portion of the outer layer; and,
the wrist strap being removably coupled with the rim.

13. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 12 comprises:

an eyelet;
the wrist strap comprises a flexible band and a clasp;
the eyelet being connected with the rim;
a first end of the flexible band and a second end of the flexible band being positioned opposite each other across the flexible band;
the first end and the second end being connected with each other with the clasp;
a loop being defined with the flexible band and the clasp; and,
the clasp being removably coupled with the rim with the eyelet.

14. A purse with concealable compartments comprises:

an outer layer;
a folding edge;
at least one flap;
at least one elongated fastener;
a plurality of fasteners;
the at least one flap comprises a first flap and a second flap;
the folding edge laterally traversing across the outer layer;
an inner surface of the outer layer being positioned opposite an outer surface of the outer layer about the outer layer;
the at least one elongated fastener being perimetrically connected across the inner surface;
a first portion of the outer layer being positioned opposite a second portion of the outer layer about the folding edge;
the first portion and the second portion each being defined by the at least one elongated fastener and the folding edge;
the at least one flap traversing along and across the inner surface;
the at least one flap being positioned within the at least one elongated fastener;
a fixed edge of the at least one flap being positioned opposite a free edge of the at least one flap;
the fixed edge of the at least one flap being hingedly connected across the inner surface;
the free edge being removably connected with the inner surface with the plurality of fasteners;
the first portion being removably connected with the second portion with the at least one elongated fastener;
the first flap is connected adjacent the first portion of the outer layer;
the second flap is connected adjacent the second portion of the outer layer;
the free edge of the first flap being positioned adjacent the folding edge; and,
the free edge of the second flap being positioned adjacent the folding edge.

15. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

the at least one elongated fastener comprises a first interlocking portion and a second interlocking portion, a first pull tab, a second pull tab, a first end, and a second end;
the first interlocking portion being perimetrically fixed with the first portion;
the second interlocking portion being perimetrically fixed with the second portion;
the folding edge being positioned between the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion;
the first interlocking portion being engaged with the second interlocking portion;
the first end being terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion;
the second end being terminally positioned adjacent the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion, opposite the first end;
the folding edge being positioned in between the first end and the second end; and,
the first pull tab and the second pull tab being slidably engaged with the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion, wherein the first pull tab and the second pull tab open and close the outer layer with the first interlocking portion and the second interlocking portion.

16. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

a pocket;
a supplementary elongated fastener;
the pocket being integrated within the at least one flap; and,
a rim of the pocket being removably attached with the at least one flap with the supplementary elongated fastener.

17. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

a key holder;
the key holder comprises a flexible strap and a key ring;
the flexible strap being positioned adjacent the at least one flap, opposite the inner surface of the outer layer;
a fixed end of the flexible strap being connected adjacent the fixed end of the at least one flap;
a free end of the flexible strap being positioned opposite the fixed end of the flexible strap, across the flexible strap; and,
the key ring being connected to the free end of the flexible strap.

18. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

at least one first restraint;
the at least one first restraint comprises an elongated band, a first end, and a second end, and a couple of bands;
the first end being positioned opposite the second end across the elongated band;
the first end and the second end being fixed to the inner surface of the outer layer;
the elongated band being positioned within the first portion of the outer layer;
the couple of bands being distributed across the first portion of the outer layer; and,
the couple of bands being positioned adjacent each other and oriented parallel to the folding edge.

19. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

at least second restraint;
the at least second elastic restraint comprises an elongated band, a first end, a second end, a first band, a second band, a third band, and a fourth band;
the first end being positioned opposite the second end across the elongated band;
the first end and the second end being fixed to the inner surface of the outer layer;
the elongated band being positioned within the second portion of the outer layer;
the first band, the second band, the third band, and the fourth band being distributed across the second portion of the outer layer;
the first band, the second band, the third band, and the fourth band being oriented perpendicular with the folding edge;
the first band being positioned adjacent the third band;
the second band being positioned adjacent the fourth band;
the third band being aligned with the fourth band; and,
a slot being defined with the third band and the fourth band.

20. The purse with concealable compartments as claimed in claim 14 comprises:

a wrist strap;
an eyelet;
the outer layer comprises a rim;
the wrist strap comprises a flexible band and a clasp;
the rim being perimetrically fixed adjacent the outer layer, across an outer edge of the outer layer;
the outer edge traversing across the first portion and the second portion of the outer layer;
the wrist strap being removably coupled with the rim;
the eyelet being connected with the rim;
a first end of the flexible band and a second end of the flexible band being positioned opposite each other across the flexible band;
the first end and the second end being connected with each other with the clasp;
a loop being defined with the flexible band and the clasp; and,
the clasp being removably coupled with the rim with the eyelet.
