DIAPER BAG PROVIDING EASY REMOVAL OF ITEMS

Abstract

A diaper bag comprises a first compartment, a zipper located on a side wall of the first compartment, and a second compartment attached to the first compartment. The zipper allows a diaper placed in the first compartment to be removed from the first compartment. The second compartment has an outer layer and an inner layer. The outer layer includes a top edge, a bottom edge and a strip. The strip comprises a strip upper end that is located at the top edge of the outer layer and a strip lower end that is located between the top edge and the bottom edge. The inner layer includes an opening, such as a rubber feedhole. The opening allows an item placed in the second compartment to be pulled out of the second compartment. The opening of the inner layer is accessible through the strip of the outer layer.

BACKGROUND

Technical Field

The present disclosure generally relates to a diaper bag, and specifically to a diaper bag having a design that allows users to use one hand to remove items from it.

Description of Related Art

Various types of diaper bags are currently available. These diaper bags usually have decent sizes and include a fair number of pockets for containing items. However, the currently available diaper bags are generally not specifically designed to allow easy access to items contained in them. Users commonly must use both hands to remove items from these diaper bags. However, it can be difficult for users to make both hands available, especially when users are holding babies or are holding various items for their babies.

SUMMARY

Embodiments relate to a bag that can be used as a diaper bag. The bag can be used to contain items needed for changing diapers. The bag has a design that facilitates users easily accessing the items. For example, a user can remove items from the diaper bag by using one hand since the items (e.g., diapers, wipes, trash bags, etc.) can be in compartments separate from the main compartment allowing the user to quickly access those items without having to dig through the main compartment to find them. The design of the bag also makes it proper for other purposes, such as for business, travel, hiking, etc.

In some embodiments, the bag comprises a primary compartment and a secondary compartment. The primary compartment, or a pocket attached to the primary compartment, has sufficient space to contain a plurality of diapers. The primary compartment is formed by a front layer, a back layer, a bottom layer, and two side walls. Top edges of the front layer, back layer and two side walls form a top opening that facilitates access to the primary compartment. The primary compartment includes a zipper or other closure device located on one of the side walls. The zipper is distant from the top opening and approximately parallel to the bottom layer. The zipper can be unzipped by pulling a slider of the zipper across the side wall in a direction from the back layer to the front layer. A user can use one hand to pull the slider in such a direction, while carrying the bag. When unzipped, the zipper forms an opening on the side wall that provides the user access to the diapers in the primary compartment.

The secondary compartment of the bag is attached to one of the side walls of the primary compartment. The secondary compartment has an inner layer and an outer layer. Each of the inner layer and outer layer have two side edges and a bottom edge. The two side edges and bottom edge are attached onto the side wall of the primary compartment. The inner layer is enclosed between the outer layer and the side wall of the primary compartment. The inner layer forms a pocket with the side wall of the primary compartment for containing items, such as waste bags and wipe tissues. The inner layer has an opening, such as a rubber feedhole. The opening allows the user to pull the items out from the pocket. The opening can be accessed through a strip on the outer layer. In some embodiments, the strip starts from a top edge of the outer layer and ends at a middle point between the top edge of the outer layer and the bottom edge of the outer layer. In one embodiment, a zipper is fixed on the strip and can be unzipped by pulling a slider of the zipper from the top edge towards the bottom edge. The force of gravity makes it easier to pull the slider downward. With this design, a user can unzip the zipper and pull out items in the secondary compartment by using one hand.

The bag may have more than one secondary compartment. For example, the bag can have one secondary compartment for waste bags and another one for wipes. Additionally, there can be pockets or pouches that are detachably associated with the bag.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

In the following description of embodiments, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide more thorough understanding. However, note that the embodiments may be practiced without one or more of these specific details. In other instances, well-known features have not been described in detail to avoid unnecessarily complicating the description. Embodiments are described herein with reference to the figures where like reference numbers indicate identical or functionally similar elements. Also in the figures, the left most digits of each reference number corresponds to the figure in which the reference number is first used.

Embodiments relate to a diaper bag that has a first compartment and a second compartment. The first compartment includes a front layer, a back layer, a bottom layer, two side walls between the front layer and back layer, and a top opening that facilitates access to items contained in the first compartment. A zipper is located on one of the side walls and distant from the top opening. In some embodiments, the zipper has a length in a range from four inches to seven inches. The zipper, when unzipped, allows a diaper placed in the first compartment to be removed from the diaper bag, and when zipped, prevents items in the first compartment from coming out. The second compartment is attached to a side wall of the first compartment. The second compartment includes an outer layer and an inner layer. The inner layer is enclosed between the outer layer and the side wall of the first compartment. The inner layer has an opening that allows a user to pull out items contained in the second compartment. The outer layer has a strip, through which the opening of the inner layer is accessible. In some embodiments, a zipper is fixed on the strip of the outer layer and can be unzipped by using one hand of the user.

FIG. 1 is a prospective view of a diaper bag 100 that includes a zipper 110 on its side for accessing items contained in the diaper bag 100, in accordance with an embodiment. In addition to the zipper 110, the diaper bag 100 also includes a front layer 120, a back layer 130, a bottom layer 140, two side walls 150 and 160, a top closure 170, a belt 180, and a front pocket 190. Some embodiments of the diaper bag 100 can have different components than those described here. Similarly, the functions can be distributed among the components in a different manner than is described here. For example, the diaper bag 100 can include one or more other belts that are of same length or longer than the belt 180.

The front layer 120, back layer 130, bottom layer 140, and two side walls 150 forms a compartment for containing items. The compartment is accessible through the top closure 170 when the top closure 170 is open. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the top closure 170 is a zipper. In other embodiments, the top closure 170 can be a magnetic lock, chains, buttons, or other types of closure mechanisms.

The compartment is also accessible through the zipper 110. The zipper 110 allows an item 115 placed in the diaper bag 100 to be removed from the diaper bag 100. An example of the item 115 is a diaper. In some embodiments, the zipper 110 has a length that is approximately equal to or larger than widths of typical diapers. For example, the length of the zipper 110 is in a range from four inches to seven inches. The zipper 110 is located on the side wall 150. As shown in FIG. 1, the zipper 110 is distant from the top closure 170 and is approximately parallel to the bottom layer 140. In one embodiment, a distance between the zipper 110 and the bottom layer 140 is sufficient to allow a predetermined number of (such as no less than three) diapers to be placed in the diaper bag and accessible through the zipper 110. Also, the distance between the zipper 110 and the top closure 170 is in a range that makes it convenient for a user to reach the zipper 110 while carrying the diaper bag 100 on the user's shoulder.

Design of the zipper 110 allows the user to use one hand to unzip it while carrying the diaper bag 100. As shown in FIG. 1, the zipper 110 includes a first end 113, a second end 115, and a slider 117. The first end 113 is located at or close to an intersection of the side wall 150 and the back layer 130. The second end 175 is located at or close to an intersection of the side wall 160 and the front layer 120. The zipper 110 can be unzipped by moving the slider 117 from the first end 113 to the second end 115. The user, while carrying the diaper bag 110 on his or her shoulder, can use one hand to pull the slider 117 from back to front to access diapers placed in the diaper bag 100.

In some embodiments, the diaper bag 100 includes an inner divider (not shown in FIG. 1) that forms an internal compartment with the bottom layer 140. Items that can be removed from the diaper bag 100 through the zipper 110 are placed in the internal compartment. Also, the diaper bag 100 can include inner pockets that are attached on an inner wall of the diaper bag 100 (such as the inside of the front layer 120 and/or back layer 130). An inner pocket may have an elastic band (such as a rubber band) on its top edge of the inner pocket for forming an opening with the inner wall of the diaper bag 100. An inner pocket can include a thermally insulating layer, for example, for containing items that should be kept at temperatures different from the room temperature. Additionally, in some embodiments, the diaper bag 100 has a design that makes it proper for use as a business bag or a travel bag.

FIG. 2 is a prospective view of a diaper bag 200 that includes a primary compartment 210 and a secondary compartment 210 attached to a side wall 215 of the primary compartment 210, in accordance with an embodiment. Some embodiments of the diaper bag 200 can have different components than those described here. Similarly, the functions can be distributed among the components in a different manner than is described here.

The primary compartment 210 can be an embodiment of the diaper bag 100 described in conjunction with FIG. 1. In some embodiments, the primary compartment 210 includes a zipper that is similar to the zipper 110 in FIG. 1. The zipper can be located on the side wall 215, where the secondary compartment 220 is located. Alternatively, the zipper can be located on a different side wall of the primary compartment 210.

The secondary compartment 220 is used to contain items, such as items used for changing diaper. Examples of the items include waste bags and wipes. The secondary compartment 220 has a design that allows for easy removal of the items from the secondary compartment 220. For example, a user can use one hand to remove the items while carrying the diaper bag 200.

As shown in FIG. 2, the secondary compartment 220 includes an inner layer 230 and an outer layer 240. The inner layer 230 is enclosed between the outer layer 240 and the side wall 215. Items contained in the secondary compartment 220 are placed between the inner layer 230 and the side wall 215.

The inner layer 230 includes an opening 233. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the opening 233 is a rubber feedhole. The opening 233 allows an item 235 placed in the secondary compartment 220 to be pulled out from the secondary compartment 220. The inner layer 230 also includes an elastic band 237 at the top of the inner layer 230. The elastic band 237 restrains the items contained in the secondary compartment 220 from coming out from the secondary compartment 220.

The outer layer 240 has a top edge 250, a bottom edge 260, a strip 270, and two side edges 280 and 290. The strip 270 has a strip upper end 273 and a strip lower end 275. The strip upper end 273 is located at the top edge 250 of the outer layer 240. The strip lower end 275 is located between the top edge 250 and the bottom edge 260 of the outer layer 240. In one embodiment, the strip lower end 275 is at a middle point between the top edge 250 and the bottom edge 260 of the outer layer 240. Also, the strip lower end 275 can be located at a middle point between the two side edges 280 and 290 of the outer layer 240. The strip 270 provides the user access to the opening 233 of the inner layer 230.

In the embodiment of FIG. 2, a zipper 277 is fixed on the strip 270. The zipper 277 is unzipped when its slider is pulled towards the bottom edge 260 and zipped when the slider is pulled towards the top edge 250. The force of gravity makes it easier to pull the slider down compared with pulling the slider up. Thus, it is easy for the user to unzip the zipper 277. After the user unzips the zipper 277, the user gets access to the opening 233 and can remove the item 235 from the secondary compartment 220. When the zipper 277 is closed, the opening 233 and the items placed in the secondary compartment 220 can become invisible so that the diaper bag 220 can have a proper look for usages of other purposes, such as use as a business bag. Also, the user's privacy is protected.

FIG. 2 shows one secondary compartment 220. In other embodiments, a diaper bag can include multiple secondary compartments 220. For example, a diaper bag has one secondary compartments 220 for wasted bags and another one for wipe tissues.

FIG. 3 is a prospective view of a diaper bag 300 that includes a primary compartment 310 and a flap 320 attached to a side wall 315 of the primary compartment 310, in accordance with an embodiment. Some embodiments of the diaper bag 300 can have different components than those described here. Similarly, the functions can be distributed among the components in a different manner than is described here. For example, the diaper bag 300 can also have the secondary compartment 220 described above in conjunction with FIG. 2.

The primary compartment 310 can be an embodiment of the diaper bag 100 in FIG. 1. The flap 320 includes a top edge 323, two side edges 325 and 327, and a bottom edge 329. The bottom edge 329 is fixed on a bottom edge of the side wall 315. The top edge 323 and two side edges 325 and 327 can be bound to the side wall 315 through a zipper 330 that is fixed on both the flap 320 and the side wall 315. The flap also includes two compartments 340 and 350. In some embodiments, the compartment 340 has similar structure and functions as the secondary compartment 220 described in conjunction with FIG. 2. The compartment 350 can be a pocket for containing items. Another compartment 360 is attached onto the side wall 315. The compartment 360 can also be a pocket for containing items. The three compartments 340-360 are accessible when the zipper 330 is unzipped.

FIG. 4 shows an eyeglass holder 410 attached to a side wall 420 of a diaper bag 400, in accordance with an embodiment. The diaper bag 400 can be an embodiment of the diaper bag 100, 200, or 300 described above.

As shown in FIG. 4, the eyeglass holder 410 includes a ring 430 that holds a pair of eyeglasses 440. The ring 430 can be made of leather, polymer, fabric, metal, alloy, other types of materials, or any combination thereof. As shown in FIG. 4, a leg 445 of the eyeglasses 440 passes through the ring so that the eyeglasses 440 is held to the diaper bag 400.

In the embodiment of FIG. 4, the eyeglass holder 410 is attached onto the side wall 420. In other embodiments, the eyeglass holder 410 can be attached onto other parts of the diaper bag 400. Also, the eyeglass holder 410 can be used to hold other types of items, such as cups, pouches, etc.

FIG. 5 illustrates a pouch 500 that can be detachably associated with a diaper bag, in accordance with an embodiment. The diaper bag can be an embodiment of the diaper bag 100, 200, 300 or 400 described above. In some embodiments, the pouch 500 is detachably associated with a primary compartment of the diaper bag. The pouch 500 includes a body 510, a cap 520, a zipper 530, a belt 540, a hook 550, and a ring 560. Some embodiments of the pouch 500 can have different components than those described here. Similarly, the functions can be distributed among the components in a different manner than is described here.

The body 510 is used to contain items. The body 510 is cylinder shaped and can be used to contain bottles, cups, or other types of items that are cylinder shaped. The cap 520 forms a closure of the body 520. A zipper is fixed on a top edge of the body 510 and a bottom edge of the cap 520 so that the body 510 and the cap 520 are connected when the zipper 530 is zipped. In some embodiments, inside walls of the body 510 is covered by a thermally insulating layer 515 and inside walls of the cap 520 is covered by a thermally insulating layer 525. With the thermally insulating layers 515 and 525, the pouch 500 can be used to contain items that need to be kept at a temperature different from the room temperature, such as milk products, ice, etc.

The belt 540 includes two ends. One end of the belt 540 is attached to a side of the cap. The other end of the belt 540 is attached to the hook 550. The hook can be put on the ring 560 in FIG. 5 to form an arc above the cap 520. The arc facilitates a user to carry the pouch 500. The hook 550 can also allow the pouch 500 to be detachably associated with the diaper bag. For example, the hook 500 can be put on the eyeglass holder 410 described in conjunction with FIG. 4.

FIG. 6 is a prospective view of a diaper changing pad 600 that can be folded and placed in a diaper bag, in accordance with an embodiment. As shown in FIG. 6, the diaper changing pad 600 includes a plurality of folding lines 610. The folding lines 610 can be pre-set in the diaper changing pad 600 to facilitate a user to fold the diaper changing pad 600 along the folding lines. The folded diaper changing pad 600 is small enough to fit in the diaper bags 100-400 in FIGS. 1-4, such as the primary compartment 210 of the diaper bag 200 or an inner pocket that has a size sufficient to contain the folded diaper changing pad 600.

The diaper bags 100-400 shown in FIGS. 1-4 are shoulder bags. The designs of the diapers bags 100-400 can also be used in backpacks. FIG. 7 illustrates a diaper bag 700 that is a backpack, in accordance with an embodiment. The diaper bag 700 includes a primary compartment 710, a secondary compartment 720, a zipper 730, and an eyeglass holder 740. The primary compartment 710 can be an embodiment of the primary compartment 210 in FIG. 2. In some embodiments, the primary compartment 710, or a pocket inside the primary compartment 710, has a size sufficient to contain a diaper changing pad, such as the foldable diaper changing pad 600 in FIG. 6. The secondary compartment 720 can be an embodiment of the secondary compartment 220 in FIG. 2. The zipper 730 can be an embodiment of the zipper 110 in FIG. 1. The zipper 730 and the secondary compartment 720 are on different side walls of the diaper bag 700. The eyeglass holder 740 can be an embodiment of the eyeglass holder 410 in FIG. 4. With the eyeglass holder 740, a pouch, like the pouch 500 in FIG. 5, can be detachably associated with the diaper bag 700. Some embodiments of the diaper bag 700 can have different components than those described here. Similarly, the functions can be distributed among the components in a different manner than is described here. For example, the diaper bag 700 can also include a flap that is an embodiment of the flap 320 in FIG. 3.

Therefore, the scope of the invention should be determined by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims

1. A bag comprising:

a first compartment comprising a side wall; and

a second compartment comprising: an outer layer comprising a top edge, a bottom edge, and a strip, wherein: the bottom edge is attached onto the side wall of the first compartment, the top edge forms an opening of the second compartment with the side wall of the first compartment, and the strip comprises a strip upper end located at the top edge and a strip lower end located between the top edge and the bottom edge, and an inner layer comprising an opening configured to allow one or more items placed in the second compartment to be removed from the second compartment, wherein the hole of the inner layer is accessible through the strip of the outer layer.

2. The bag of claim 1, wherein a zipper is fixed on the strip, the zipper configured to be zipped when it is pulled towards the top edge of the second compartment and unzipped when it is pulled towards the bottom edge of the second compartment.

3. The bag of claim 1, wherein the inner layer of the second compartment further comprises two side edges, the two side edges attached onto the side wall of the first compartment, and the strip being at a midpoint between the two side edges.

4. The bag of claim 1, wherein the inner layer of the second compartment is enclosed between the outer layer of the second compartment and the side wall of the first compartment.

5. The bag of claim 1, wherein the inner layer of the second compartment further comprises:

an elastic band on a top edge of the inner layer, the elastic band forming an opening of the second compartment with the side wall of the first compartment.

6. The bag of claim 1, wherein the hole of the inner layer is a rubber feedhole.

7. The bag of claim 1, wherein the one or more items include one of the following: a waste bag and a wipe tissue.

8. The bag of claim 1, wherein the bag is a shoulder bag.

9. The bag of claim 1, wherein the bag is a backpack bag.

10. The bag of claim 1, further comprising one or more pouches that are detachably associated with the first compartment.

11. The bag of claim 10, wherein at least one of the pouches comprises a wall that is thermally insulating and cylinder shaped.

12. The bag of claim 1, further comprising an eyeglass holder attached to the first compartment, the eyeglass holder comprising a leather ring configured for an arm of a pair of eyeglasses to pass through the leather ring.

13. The bag of claim 1, wherein the first compartment has a size sufficient to contain a diaper changing pad.

14. A bag comprising:

a front layer;

a back layer;

a bottom layer;

a top opening configured to facilitate access to one or more items placed in the bag;

a side wall intersecting with the front layer, the back layer, and the bottom layer; and

a zipper located on the side wall between the front layer and back layer and distant from the top opening, wherein the zipper is configured to allow a diaper placed in the bag to be removed from the bag through the zipper.

15. The bag of claim 14, wherein the zipper comprises a first end and a second end, and is configured to be unzipped from the first end to the second end, the first end located at an intersection of the side wall and the back layer, and the second end located at an intersection of the side wall and the front layer.

16. The bag of claim 14, wherein the zipper has a length in a range from four inches to seven inches.

17. The bag of claim 14, wherein a distance from the zipper to the bottom layer of the bag is sufficient to allow a predefined number of diapers to be placed in the bag between the zipper and the bottom layer.

18. The bag of claim 14, further comprising an inner divider that forms an internal compartment with the bottom layer of the bag, wherein the item to be removed from the bag through the zipper is placed in the internal compartment.

19. The bag of claim 14, further comprising one or more pouches that are detachably associated with the first compartment.

20. The bag of claim 14, further comprising an eyeglass holder attached to the first compartment, the eyeglass holder comprising a leather ring configured for an arm of a pair of eyeglasses to pass through the leather ring.
