Enclosed Safety Pin

The Enclosed Safety Pin is a device that consists of a pin, having a simple spring or bend, which is both embedded in and part of a clamshell enclosure which allows it to be used in a similar fashion to a safety pin while being nearly fully concealed by the enclosure. The enclosure itself can be either a single piece with a living hinge, or two pieces with a pin or other type of hinge, which allows it to clasp around the pin using snaps or magnets.

Description
BACKGROUND

A normal safety pin provides for a covering for only the sharp point of the pin, but it is still possible for the pin to come loose due to the remainder of the pin being exposed, and the small area of the pin that is covered. While there have been some improvements to the original safety pin in the past, there still remains room for further improvement.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THIS INVENTION

This invention provides for full covered protection of a safety pin-type of device, which makes it far more difficult to accidentally open the pin. The cover also allows for a surface for decoration, further enhancing the utility of the pin, and this design aspect is covered by U.S. Pat. D778,206 S.

FIGS. 1-6 show device with living hinge and snap closure):

FIG. 1—Shows the device closed, from the front-top perspective side view

FIG. 2—Shows the device open, displaying the interior, from the same angle as FIG. 1

FIG. 3—Shows the device open from the back, side perspective, displaying the exterior

FIG. 4—Shows the interior of the device open, from straight on

FIG. 5—Shows the open device from the side

FIG. 6—Shows the open device from the opposite side thereof

FIG. 7—Shows another view of the open device with magnetic enclosure and pin hinges

DETAIL DESCRIPTION OF THE ENCLOSED SAFETY PIN

The Enclosed Safety Pin is a device that will consist of a pin that will be integrated into a clamshell type of enclosure. The enclosure will be comprised of a single or multiple pieces that, on the “pin half,” would provide a tab for the pin to fasten into as well as fit together with the other half to nearly completely conceal the pin. The halves will hinge together with either a living hinge design, or if two pieces, by a pin hinge design. The two halves will then fasten together with a snap design or magnetically, or other. There will be an opening on the “pin half” of the enclosure that will allow fabric or other material to pass through in order to be secured by the pin, as a safety pin would hold.

Claims

1. The invention claimed is a device with a pin enclosed by a clamshell style enclosure that:
