COLLAPSIBLE BEDFRAME ASSEMBLY
A collapsible bedframe assembly includes a panel having a size to match a size of a mattress to be positioned on the panel. The panel has a break therein such that a first section and a second section of the panel are defined and are pivotably coupled together. A plurality of supports is pivotally attached to a bottom side of the panel and support the panel upwardly above a floor surface. Each of the supports is positionable in a stored condition folded against the bottom side or in a deployed condition extending downward from the bottom side. A locking member engages each of the supports to retain the supports in the deployed condition. The locking member is elongated and extends between and releasably engages at least two of the supports.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98The disclosure and prior art relates to mattress support devices and more particularly pertains to a new mattress support device that is collapsible to facilitate transportation while also being easy to set up in a very short amount of time to receive a mattress.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a panel that has a top side, a bottom side, a first end, a second end, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge. The top side has a size configured to match a size of a mattress to be positioned on the panel. The panel has a break therein extending from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge such that a first section and a second section of the panel are defined. The first and second sections are pivotably coupled together. A plurality of supports is attached to the bottom side of the panel and is configured to support the panel upwardly above a floor surface. Each of the supports comprises a plate having a bottom edge, an upper edge, a first side edge, a second side edge, a front side and a back side. Each of the upper edges is pivotably coupled to the bottom side such that each of the supports is positionable in a stored condition folded against the bottom side or in a deployed condition extending downward from the bottom side. A locking member engages each of the supports to retain the supports in the deployed condition. The locking member is elongated and extends between and releasably engages at least two of the supports.

There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

A plurality of supports 32 is attached to the bottom side 16 of the panel 12 and the supports 32 are configured to support the panel upwardly above a floor surface. Each of the supports 32 comprises a plate that has a bottom edge 34, an upper edge 36, a first side edge 38, a second side edge 40, a front side 42 and a back side 44. Each of the supports 32 is elongated from the first side edge 38 to the second side edge 40 such that the upper edges 36 have a length equal to at least 85% of a length from the first lateral edge 22 to the second lateral edge 24. The supports 32 each have a height from the bottom edges 34 to associated upper edges 36 of at least 6.0 inches and typically less than 24.0 inches. Each of the bottom edges 34 has a length is less than the length of the upper edges 36. This helps to prevent tripping over or kicking of the supports 32 by a user of the assembly 10. The supports 32 will typically be comprised of the same material as is being used with the panel 12.
Each of the supports 32 is pivotably coupled to the bottom side 16 adjacent to their upper edges 36 such that each of the supports 32 is positionable in a stored condition folded against the bottom side 16 or in a deployed condition extending downward from the bottom side 16. Stops, not shown, may be positioned on the bottom side 16 so that the supports 32 abut the stops when in their deployed such that the supports 32 cannot over-pivot and to provide additional stability for the supports 32. As can be seen in the Figures, elongated troughs 46 may be located in the bottom side 16 adjacent to the upper edges 36 and are positioned for receiving the upper edges 36 such that the upper edges 36 snap into the troughs 46 to impart stability between the supports 32 and the panel 12. The supports 32 are spaced from each other from the first end 18 to the second end 20 of the panel 20. The upper edges 36 each have a longitudinal axis that is orientated perpendicular to the first lateral edge 22. At least two of the supports 32 are attached to the first section 28 and at least two of the supports 32 are attached to the second section 30. The bottom edges 34 may comprise a non-skid, high friction material, such as rubber, to prevent the supports 32 from easily moving across a floor surface.
A locking member 50 engages each of the supports 32 to retain the supports 50 in the deployed condition. The locking member 50 is elongated and extends between and releasably engages at least two of the supports 32. The locking member 50 inhibits the supports 32 from pivoting relative to the panel 12. One example of achieving this comprises the locking member 50 including a pair of elongated members 52. Each of the supports 32 has an opening 54 therein for receiving one of the elongated members 52. The openings 54 each include a narrow portion 56 and a wide portion 55, wherein the narrow portion 56 has a greater height than the wide portion 55, as can be seen in
In use, an elongated member 52 is extended through the opening 54 such that one of the opposed faces 59, 60 is directed toward the bottom side 16 of the panel 12 such that elongated member 52 slides through the narrow 56 and wide 55 portions of the opening 54. The elongated member 52 is then rotated into the narrow portion 56 as the edges forming the narrow portion 56 enter oppositely positioned ones of the notches 61. One of the notches 61 may be used to allow the elongated member 52 to receive a hinge 62 coupling together the first 28 and second 30 sections of the panel 12. The notches 61 may be sized to frictionally engage the supports 32 such that the elongated members 52 are not easily dislodged from the supports 32. The openings 54 are positioned adjacent to the upper edge 36 so that the elongated members 52 abut the bottom side 16 of the panel 12 when the elongated members 52 are engaged with associated ones of the supports 32.

In use, the assembly 10 is used as a conventional bedframe however having exceptional transportation capabilities as it can be folded up into a stored condition wherein the supports 32 are folded down and the panel 12 folded onto itself to retain the supports 32 between the first 26 and second 28 sections. When ready for use, the first 26 and second 28 sections are unfolded and the supports 32 placed into their deployed positions for engagement with the locking member 50. Once the locking member 50 is in place, the mattress 80 is placed on top of the panel 12 and is used as a conventional bed. Further attachments may be provided to further enhance the assembly 10. A headboard mount, not shown, may be attached to the first end 18 of the panel 12 for allowing headboards to be attached to the panel 12. Additional lifestyle features of the assembly 10 may include, for example, LED lighting under the panel, Bluetooth speakers built into the panel 12 which are illuminated when motion is detected adjacent to the panel 12 and sleep tracking motion sensors that are wirelessly connected to a CPU programmed to track sleep patterns.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. Claims
1. A collapsible bed frame assembly comprising:
- a panel having a top side, a bottom side, a first end, a second end, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge, the top side having a size configured to match a size of a mattress to be positioned on the panel, the panel having a break therein extending from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge such that a first section and a second section of the panel are defined, the first and second sections being pivotably coupled together;
- a plurality of supports being attached to the bottom side of the panel and being configured to support the panel upwardly above a floor surface, each of the supports comprising a plate having a bottom edge, an upper edge, a first side edge, a second side edge, a front side and a back side;
- each of the upper edges being pivotably coupled to the bottom side such that each of the supports is positionable in a stored condition folded against the bottom side or in a deployed condition extending downward from the bottom side; and
- a locking member engaging each of the supports to retain the supports in the deployed condition, the locking member being elongated and extending between and releasably engaging at least two of the supports.
2. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 1, wherein the break is equally spaced from the first and second ends.
3. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 1, wherein each of the supports is elongated from the first side edge to the second side edge such that the upper edges have a length equal to at least 85% of a length from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge.
4. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 3, wherein the supports are spaced from each other from the first end to the second end of the panel.
5. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 3, wherein the upper edges each have a longitudinal axis being orientated perpendicular to the first lateral edge.
6. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 5, wherein at least two of the supports are attached to the first section and at least two of the supports are attached to the second section.
7. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 3, wherein each of the bottom edges has a length being less than the length of the upper edges.
8. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 3, wherein the locking member is elongated and extends between and releasably engages at least two of the supports.
9. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 8, wherein the locking member inhibits the supports from pivoting relative to the panel.
10. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 9, wherein the locking member includes a pair of elongated members, each of the supports having an opening therein for receiving one of the elongated members, each of the elongated members extending through at least two of the openings of adjacent ones of the supports.
11. The collapsible bed frame assembly according to claim 10, wherein the openings are positioned adjacent to the upper edge, the elongated members abutting the bottom side of the panel when the elongated members are engaged with associated ones of the supports.
12. A collapsible bed frame assembly comprising:
- a panel having a top side, a bottom side, a first end, a second end, a first lateral edge and a second lateral edge, the top side having a size configured to match a size of a mattress to be positioned on the panel, the panel having a break therein extending from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge such that a first section and a second section of the panel are defined, the first and second sections being pivotably coupled together, the break being equally spaced from the first and second ends;
- a plurality of supports being attached to the bottom side of the panel and being configured to support the panel upwardly above a floor surface, each of the supports comprising a plate having a bottom edge, an upper edge, a first side edge, a second side edge, a front side and a back side, each of the supports being elongated from the first side edge to the second side edge such that the upper edges have a length equal to at least 85% of a length from the first lateral edge to the second lateral edge;
- each of the supports being pivotably coupled to the bottom side adjacent to the upper edges such that each of the supports is positionable in a stored condition folded against the bottom side or in a deployed condition extending downward from the bottom side, the supports being spaced from each other from the first end to the second end of the panel, the upper edges each having a longitudinal axis being orientated perpendicular to the first lateral edge, wherein at least two of the supports are attached to the first section and at least two of the supports are attached to the second section;
- each of the bottom edges having a length being less than the length of the upper edges; and
- a locking member engaging each of the supports to retain the supports in the deployed condition, the locking member being elongated and extending between and releasably engaging at least two of the supports, the locking member inhibiting the supports from pivoting relative to the panel, the locking member including a pair of elongated members, each of the supports having an opening therein for receiving one of the elongated members, each of the elongated members extending through at least two of the openings of adjacent ones of the supports, the openings being positioned adjacent to the upper edge, the elongated members abutting the bottom side of the panel when the elongated members are engaged with associated ones of the supports.
