TELESCOPIC DOCK SYSTEM

The invention relates to a telescopic dock system, said system comprising: dock surface; at least two posts; a knob; at least one telescopic spindles; and at least one railing. The dock system with telescopic spindles which can be used to stow down the railing by turning a knob is disclosed. The system can allow a person to protect kids, pets from falling in the water. The system is a convenient way to improve safety without restricting fun on the docks.

Description
(1) FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally relates to the field of telescopic dock system. The invention, particularly relates to a telescopic handrails for docks to protect pets and children and even a person from falling in the water by turning a knob and unlocking the rail to telescopic down.

(2) BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Whether one have home or business on water, dock railings allows more user safe access to the water and give persons a solid surface to hold onto out on the dock. Safety handrails provide an economical way to protect kids, pets from falling in the water. Safety rails can also use to protect people from walking off the end of the dock.

Most sliding panel handrails are installed and disengaged using a friction mounting mechanism, which typically incorporates spring biased telescoping rods or pistons with engagement feet that exert outward pressure to frictionally engage one or both sides of the access way. Such friction mounted handrails are removed by compressing the biasing spring to retract the rods or pistons, either manually or through a lever mechanism.

A number of different types of systems for dock railing systems are available in the prior art. For example, the following patents are provided for their supportive teachings and are all incorporated by reference: JP2001107530A discloses telescopic handrail body has one side an attachment/removal function with advancing pin built into its body. The one end of the telescopic handrail body has a longitudinally extending attaching/removing guide groove on the one side and has on the other side a telescoping preventing piece. However, the application of handrails for docks is not mentioned in the disclosed prior art.

Another prior art document, CN204507191U discloses the dock boarding ladder and both sides of ladder frame are equipped with telescopic handrails. The utility model provides a pier ladder of going on board belongs to boats and ships technical field. However, the idea of turning a knob to unlock the rail to telescope down is not disclosed.

Yet another prior art document, JP2007023736A discloses movable handrail structure which can be used by turning handrail member and provided to the wall surface of building and it can turn by making its one end a pivot by retracting the turning handrail member in a vertical stance.

Yet another prior art document, U.S. Pat. No. 5,906,068A discloses adjustable child safety gate which has two barrier panels in a parallel, overlapping arrangement that can be relatively adjusted to different combined widths to fit in different access ways. The gate is frictionally secured or closed by extendable and retractable engagement feet adapted to forcibly engage the access way side wall.

Yet another prior art document, JP2009275383A discloses a movable handrail on the site of a building to aid the walking movement such as the elderly or walking disabilities. The movable handrail which enables a rotary handrail bar to be stably kept in an approximately horizontal attitude under normal conditions.

Yet another non-patent literature prior art document discloses the telescopic handrails to provide a safe environment for people to board in a variety of sea states (see: http://www.seamagine.com/private-submarine-advantages.html).

In view of the above, there is a need in the art for a safety of child or pet to have handrail that more conveniently and reliably excludes passage of pets and small children through restricted access ways.

There remains a constant need in society for a continuous flow of new and innovative novelty systems for the docks. It is in this context, that the subject invention is useful, not only to provide cheap but also easy to operate/use.

In the view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of systems for docks now present in the prior art, the present invention provides an improved telescopic dock system. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved telescopic systems for docks which has all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

(3) SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In the view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of dock systems now present in the prior art, the present invention provides a telescopic dock system. As such, the general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new and improved telescopic dock system which has all the advantages of the prior art and none of the disadvantages.

An object of the invention is to provide a telescopic dock system, the system comprising: a dock surface; at least two Posts; a knob; at least one telescopic spindle; and at least one railing.

It is another object of the present invention to provide the railing sits 36 inch above the dock surface.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the railing includes a slot for the pins to lock the railing with the posts.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the posts has height in the range of 30 to 40 inches.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the system which is used to protect pets, kids and persons from falling in the water.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the system unlocks the railing from the posts to put down the telescopic spindles by turning the knob.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the system is in the stow position and enables to load and unload boats.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide the post is bolted every six feet on the dock surface.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, the method comprises the following steps:

(a) Providing at least two pin slots to a railing to lock the railing with at least two posts;
(b) Unlocking the railing from the posts by turning a knob; and
(c) Sliding the railing to telescopic spindles down to the dock surface.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, wherein said railing sits 36 inch above said dock surface.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, wherein said railing includes a slot for the pins to lock said railing with said posts.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, wherein said posts have height in the range of 30 to 40 inches.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, wherein said system which is used to protect pets, kids and persons from falling in the water.

Yet another object of the present invention to provide a method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, wherein said post is bolted every six feet on said dock surface.

In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.

These together with other objects of the invention, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the invention, are pointed out with particularity in the disclosure. For a better understanding of the invention, its operating advantages and the specific objects attained by its uses, reference should be had to the accompanying drawings and descriptive matter in which there are illustrated preferred embodiments of the invention.

(5) DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In the following detailed description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings which form a part hereof, and in which is shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the invention may be practiced. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention, and it is to be understood that the embodiments may be combined, or that other embodiments may be utilized and that structural and logical changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the present invention. The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense, and the scope of the present invention is defined by the appended claims and their equivalents.

There is much need of security handrails at the docks to restrict movements of pets and children through access ways leading to restricted areas of the docks. Children and pets security handrails must function as an impassible barrier to exclude passage of pets or children through the access way, but it is also necessary to provide for removal of the barrier to permit passage by an attending adult. Accordingly, a number of handrail designs have been developed that allow for barrier removal, for example by collapsing the handrail, pivoting the handrail out of the access way, or removing the handrail entirely from the access way.

In addition to providing a removable handrail that permits adult access, it is also desirable to provide a handrail that is adaptable for installation in a variety of differently dimensioned access ways, and which may also be transferred from one access way to another to accommodate daily movements of the child and attending adult.

A telescopic handrail is a single bar or pipe includes telescopic spindles supported on a stairway or docks that allow you to protect your pets, children and even yourself from falling in the water by turning a knob. While in the stow position you are now able to load and unload boats as well. The design is simple mechanical structure.

The invention facilitates telescopic handrails for docks. Often times we are worried about that child running to the end of the dock before you can get down there. Maybe you want to relax with your dog on the pier but cannot due to the worry of them jumping in. You cannot put a barrier up without blocking all the fun of having a dock on the water. The telescopic dock system turn a knob and have railings telescope up protecting your children, pets, even yourself from falling in, just as your railings at home keep you from falling off the porch.

Reference will now be made in detail to the exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. Before describing the detailed embodiments that are in accordance with the present disclosure, it should be observed that the embodiment reside primarily in combinations arrangement of the system according to an embodiment herein and as exemplified in FIG. 1.

In the following description, for the purpose of explanation, numerous specific details are set forth in order to provide a thorough understanding of the arrangement of the system according to an embodiment herein. It will be apparent, however, to one skilled in the art, that the present embodiment can be practiced without these specific details. In other instances, structures are shown in block diagram form only in order to avoid obscuring the present invention.

FIG. 1 depicts one embodiment of the “Telescopic Dock System” 100 with a lower 100A and upper view 100B of the system 100. The system 100 is used to protect pets, kids and persons from falling in the water. The system 100 comprising a dock surface 1, at least two posts 2 and 7, a knob 4, at least one telescopic spindle 3 and a railing 5. The railing 5 sits 36 inch above the dock surface 1 and includes a slot for pins 6 to lock it with the posts 2, 7. The system 100 can unlock the railing 5 from the posts 2, 7 to the telescopic spindles 3 down by turning the knob 4. The posts 2, 7 are bolted every six feet on the dock surface 1 and the total height is 38 inch or no taller than 40 inch.

In another embodiment of the invention the system 100 comprise two railings for example, top railing and bottom railing. The top and bottom railing sits 36 inch and 4 inch respectively above the dock surface 1 and includes a slot for top and bottom pins 6 to lock them with the posts 2, 7. The ends of the railings 5 slide up and down the groove until the pins 6 lock whether in the up or down direction. Both the top and bottom railings have knobs 4 (much like a doorknob) that when turned activates the gears and pulls the pins 6 towards the center, unlocking the railings 5 (much like how a tailgate unlocks). The bottom rail has a knob 4 so you are able to stow the rail flat on the dock surface 1. The telescopic spindles 3 will be eight 4 inch sections that telescope up and down when the top rail is unlocked.

It is contemplated that these variations, modifications, additions and improvements fall within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A telescopic dock system, said system comprising:

a dock surface;
at least two posts;
a knob;
at least one telescopic spindles; and
at least one railing.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein said railing sits 36 inch above said dock surface.

3. The system according to claim 2, wherein said railing includes a slot for the pins to lock said railing with said posts.

4. The system according to claim 1, wherein said posts have height in the range of 30 to 40 inches.

5. The system according to claim 1, wherein said system which is used to protect pets, kids and persons from falling in the water.

6. The system according to claim 1, wherein said system unlocks said railing from said posts to said telescopic spindles down by turning said knob.

7. The system according to claim 1, wherein said system is in the stow position and enables to load and unload boats.

8. The system according to claim 1, wherein said post is bolted every six feet on said dock surface.

9. A method to protect human being or animal from falling in the water by using a telescopic dock system, said method comprises the following steps:

(a) Providing at least two pin slots to a railing to lock said railing with at least two posts;
(b) Unlocking said railing from said posts by turning a knob; and
(c) Sliding said railing to telescopic spindles down to a dock surface.

10. The method according to claim 9, wherein said railing sits 36 inch above said dock surface.

11. The method according to claim 9, wherein said railing includes a slot for the pins to lock said railing with said posts.

12. The method according to claim 9, wherein said posts have height in the range of 30 to 40 inches.

13. The method according to claim 9, wherein said system which is used to protect pets, kids and persons from falling in the water.

14. The method according to claim 9, wherein said post is bolted every six feet on said dock surface.
