Description
BACKGROUND Field of the Disclosure

The present disclosure relates to desalination and climate control system relying on humidification and dehumidification processes combined with vapor-compression cycle processes.

Description of the Related Art

The “background” description provided herein is for the purpose of generally presenting the context of the disclosure. Work of the presently named inventors, to the extent it is described in this background section, as well as aspects of the description which may not otherwise qualify as prior art at the time of filing, are neither expressly or impliedly admitted as prior art against the present invention.

Producing water suitable for human consumption, agriculture, and/or irrigation from inconsumable water, e.g. saltwater, and/or highly mineralized water, in hot, dry and/or arid regions is essential.

To this end, conventional desalination processes that extract inconsumable water and remove minerals, e.g. salt, from the inconsumable water to provide fresh water that is proper for human consumption have been proposed and used. These conventional desalination processes may rely on multi-stage state transformation cycles, e.g. vapor compression cycles, and distillation cycles, and/or ion exchange/membrane processes, e.g. electro dialysis reversal, reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, membrane distillation, and/or forward osmosis.

Although these conventional desalination processes have been widely used, they present important drawbacks. Notably, these conventional desalination processes can be energy demanding making them unsuitable for remote areas and/or are regions where temperatures are high and an important part of the energy is allocated to provide comfortable interior climate control, e.g. air-conditioning systems.

Thus, a desalination and climate control system that overcomes the above mention limitation of efficiency is desired.

The foregoing “Background” description is for the purpose of generally presenting the context of the disclosure. Work of the inventors, to the extent it is described in this background section, as well as aspects of the description which may not otherwise qualify as prior art at the time of filing, are neither expressly or impliedly admitted as prior art against the present invention.
