HEATING AND COOLING CEILING FAN
A cooling and heating ceiling fan to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time, the fan including: two or more blades designed to create air currents when rotated; a motor that is operably connected to rotate the blades; a fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is controllable by the fan blade switch; a heat-producing unit that is operably connected above the blades to produce hot air; a heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the heat-producing unit is controllable by the heating switch; and a connection stem that is operably connected to the blades, motor, and heat-producing unit to hold the blade, the motor, and the heat-producing unit together, wherein the connection stem is attachable to a ceiling.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe following includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention(s). It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art, or material, to the presently described or claimed inventions, or that any publication or document that is specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
1. Field of the InventionThe present invention relates generally to the field of ceiling fan devices and more specifically relates to a heating and cooling ceiling fan structured and arranged to be suitably used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time.
2. Description of the Related ArtA ceiling fan is a mechanical fan, usually electrically powered, suspended from the ceiling of a room, that uses hub-mounted rotating paddles to circulate air. Ceiling fans typically rotate more slowly than other types of circulating fans, such as electric desk fans. They cool people effectively by introducing slow movement into the otherwise still, hot air of a room. Fans never actually cool air, unlike air-conditioning equipment, they in fact heat the air due to the waste heat from the motor and friction but use significantly less power (cooling air is thermodynamically expensive). Conversely, a ceiling fan can also be used to reduce the stratification of warm air in a room by forcing it down to affect both occupants' sensations and thermostat readings, thereby improving climate control energy efficiency. One problem with ceiling fans in most climates is that they are only useful during the warm part of the year. During the winter months they simply gather dust and take up visual ceiling space.
Various attempts have been made to solve problems found in ceiling fan device art. Among these are found in: U.S. Pat. No. 5,668,920 to Kosta L. Pelonis; U.S. Pat. No. 6,751,406 to Kenneth H. Reiker; U.S. Pat. No. 6,631,243 to Kenneth H. Reiker; U.S. Pat. No. 6,477,321 to Kenneth H. Reiker; and U.S. Pat. No. 6,438,322 to Kenneth H. Reiker. This prior art is representative of ceiling fans that may be used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time via a switch.
Ideally, a heating and cooling ceiling fan should be user-friendly and safe in-use and yet would operate reliably and be manufactured at a modest expense. Thus, a need exists for a heating and cooling ceiling fan structured and arranged to be suitably used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time and to avoid the above-mentioned problems.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known ceiling fan device art, the present invention provides a novel Heating and Cooling Ceiling Fan. The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail is to provide a heating and cooling ceiling fan structured and arranged to be suitably used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time.
A heating and cooling ceiling fan to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time, the fan comprising: two or more blades designed to create air currents when rotated; a motor that is operably connected to rotate the blades; a first fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is controllable by the fan blade switch; a heat-producing unit that is operably connected above the blades to produce hot air; a first heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the first heat-producing unit is controllable by the heating switch, and wherein the first heating switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan; an electric lighting unit that is operably connected below the blades to produce light; a first lighting switch that is operably connected to turn the lighting unit on and off, wherein the first lighting unit is controllable by the lighting switch, and wherein the first lighting switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan; a connection stem that is operably connected to the blades, motor, and heat-producing unit to hold the blade, the motor, the heat-producing unit, and the electric lighting unit together, wherein the connection stem is attachable to a ceiling; a second lighting switch that is operably connected to turn the lighting unit on and off, wherein the second lighting unit is also controllable by the second lighting switch, and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring; a second heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the second heat-producing unit is also controllable by the heating switch, and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring; and a second fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is also controllable by the fan blade switch and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
The present invention holds significant improvements and serves as a Heating and Cooling Ceiling Fan. For purposes of summarizing the invention, certain aspects, advantages, and novel features of the invention have been described herein. The figures which accompany the written portion of this specification illustrate embodiments and method(s) of use for the present invention, a Heating and Cooling Ceiling Fan, constructed and operative according to the teachings of the present invention.
The various embodiments of the present invention will hereinafter be described in conjunction with the appended drawings, wherein like designations denote like element.
DETAILED DESCRIPTIONAs discussed above, embodiments of the present invention relate to a ceiling fan device and more particularly to a Heating and Cooling Fan structured and arranged to be suitably used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time
Generally speaking, the Heating and Cooling Fan comprises a specially designed ceiling fan that may be used to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time, where the heating or cooling option is controlled via a switch. The present invention includes heat coils or a heating device that can blow hot air. Further the present invention includes a thermostat that will shut off the fan if it gets too hot. The present invention includes a cooling unit attached as well.

Wherein fan 100 further comprises: electric lighting unit 550 that is operably connected below blades 110 to produce light; and first lighting switch that is operably connected to turn lighting unit 550 on and off, wherein lighting unit 550 is controllable by first lighting switch. Connection stem 340 is also operably connected to electric lighting unit 550 to connect electric lighting unit 550 to blades 110, motor 120, and heat-producing unit 300. Wherein lighting switch 550 is pullable cord 324 or chain 500 operably connected to dangle below ceiling fan 100. Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientist, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application.
Claims
1. A cooling and heating ceiling fan to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time, the fan comprising:
- (a) two or more blades designed to create air currents when rotated;
- (b) a motor that is operably connected to rotate the blades;
- (c) a fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is controllable by the fan blade switch;
- (d) a heat-producing unit that is operably connected above the blades to produce hot air;
- (e) a heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the heat-producing unit is controllable by the heating switch; and
- (f) a connection stem that is operably connected to the blades, motor, and heat-producing unit to hold the blade, the motor, and the heat-producing unit together, wherein the connection stem is attachable to a ceiling.
2. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the fan comprises four blades.
3. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the fan comprises five blades.
4. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the heat-producing unit further comprises heating coils.
5. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the fan further comprises:
- (g) an electric lighting unit that is operably connected below the blades to produce light; and
- (h) a first lighting switch that is operably connected to turn the lighting unit on and off, wherein the lighting unit is controllable by the first lighting switch, and
- wherein the connection stem is also operably connected to the electric lighting unit to connect the electric lighting unit to the blades, the motor, and the heat-producing unit.
6. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 5, wherein the lighting switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan.
7. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the heating switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan.
8. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the fan blade switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan.
9. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 5, wherein the lighting switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
10. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the heating switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
11. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the fan blade switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
12. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the ceiling fan further comprises:
- (i) a second fan blade switch that is operably connected to the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is controllable by the fan blade switch, and wherein the second fan blade switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
13. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 1, wherein the ceiling fan further comprises:
- (i) a second heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the heating unit is also controllable by the second heating switch, and wherein the second heating switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
14. A cooling and heating ceiling fan to cool a person off in the summer time and warm a person up in the winter time, the fan comprising:
- (a) two or more blades designed to create air currents when rotated;
- (b) a motor that is operably connected to rotate the blades;
- (c) a first fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is controllable by the fan blade switch;
- (d) a heat-producing unit that is operably connected above the blades to produce hot air;
- (e) a first heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the first heat-producing unit is controllable by the heating switch, and wherein the first heating switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan;
- (f) an electric lighting unit that is operably connected below the blades to produce light;
- (g) a first lighting switch that is operably connected to turn the lighting unit on and off, wherein the first lighting unit is controllable by the lighting switch, and wherein the first lighting switch is a pullable cord or chain operably connected to dangle below the ceiling fan;
- (h) a connection stem that is operably connected to the blades, motor, and heat-producing unit to hold the blade, the motor, the heat-producing unit, and the electric lighting unit together, wherein the connection stem is attachable to a ceiling;
- (i) a second lighting switch that is operably connected to turn the lighting unit on and off, wherein the second lighting unit is also controllable by the second lighting switch, and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring;
- (j) a second heating switch that is operably connected to turn the heat-producing unit on and off, wherein the second heat-producing unit is also controllable by the heating switch, and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring; and
- (k) a second fan blade switch that is operably connected to turn the blade rotation on and off, wherein the motor is also controllable by the fan blade switch and wherein the second light switch is a wall switch operably connected to the ceiling fan by hardwiring.
15. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 14, wherein the fan comprises four blades.
16. The cooling and heating ceiling fan according to claim 14, wherein the fan comprises five blades.
