Adjustable Hanging Ironing Board Caddy
An adjustable ironing board caddy. The device includes a container having a planar base and a plurality of sidewalls extending upwardly therefrom, wherein the sidewalls terminate along an open upper end of the base, thereby defining an enclosure with an interior volume. The interior volume includes a plurality of dividing walls for defining a plurality of compartments within the container. An adjustable strap is affixed to an exterior side of the container. The strap includes a fastener thereon, such as a hook and loop fastener that can secure the strap about an ironing board. When secured to an ironing board, the container is positioned such that its contents are organized and easily accessible. The ironing board caddy can further enable a user to easily transport contents that are safely stored therein, thereby providing convenience and safety to a user.
This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62/680,861 filed on Jun. 5, 2018. The above identified patent application is herein incorporated by reference in its entirety to provide continuity of disclosure.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to ironing board caddy devices. More specifically, the present invention provides a planar base having a plurality of sidewalls extending orthogonally therefrom and defining an enclosure with an interior volume having an adjustable strap affixed to an exterior side thereof. The interior volume of the enclosure includes a plurality of dividing walls for defining a plurality of storage compartments within the housing of the device.
After ironing a piece of clothing or garment, many people often store the iron on top of the ironing board for the iron to cool down. This can be dangerous, as the iron may topple over or a person may inadvertently contact the hot surface of the iron and suffer from a burn or other injury. Even if the iron does not injure the user, the iron may fall onto a floor surface and cause damage to the flooring which can be very expensive to repair or replace. Further, many individuals use various ironing products, such as starch spray, a water bottle, and other items that can be difficult to store while using the iron. This can present additional safety hazards associated with limited mobility of the user due to the clutter. Accordingly, a device that is configured to provide storage of an iron and ironing accessories, thereby providing safety and convenience to a user thereof, is desired.
Devices have been disclosed in the known art that relate to ironing board caddy devices. These include devices that have been patented and published in patent application publications. These devices generally relate to ironing caddies configured to removably secure to ironing boards. Other devices include a caddy assembly that may be coupled to the ironing board as well as an ironing board caddy made of a wire form construction configured to removably attach to a board such that accessories are kept within reach. These devices, however, fail to disclose an ironing board caddy including an adjustable strap for removably securing the device to the ironing board.
In light of the devices disclosed in the known art, it is submitted that the present invention substantially diverges in design elements from the known art and consequently it is clear that there is a need in the art for an improvement to existing ironing board caddy devices. In this regard, the instant invention substantially fulfills these needs.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn view of the foregoing disadvantages inherent in the known types of ironing board caddy devices now present in the known art, the present invention provides a removably attachable and adjustable ironing board caddy wherein the same can be utilized for providing convenience for the user when the iron is in use or not in use by providing storage for the iron and the ironing accessories stored and readily available in one place.
It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new and improved adjustable hanging ironing board caddy that has all the advantages of the known art and none of the disadvantages. The present invention comprises a housing having a planar base and sidewalls extending orthogonally therefrom forming an enclosure having an interior volume wherein an adjustable strap is affixed to an exterior surface of the sidewalls at opposing points.
It is another object of the present invention to provide an adjustable hanging ironing board caddy wherein a plurality of dividers within the interior volume of the housing form multiple compartments for stowing clothes irons and ironing accessories, one such compartment being of a triangular dimension adapted to receive the iron itself.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable hanging ironing board caddy wherein the adjustable strap is configured of two segments affixed to opposing points on the sidewall which are removably securable to each other and selectively adjustable via a clip fastener.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide an adjustable hanging ironing board caddy wherein the adjustable strap is made of a flexible planar construction and may be removably affixed to an ironing board as well as being slung over a shoulder for transport and removably affixed to a hook or around a pole for storage.
Other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
Although the characteristic features of this invention will be particularly pointed out in the claims, the invention itself and manner in which it may be made and used may be better understood after a review of the following description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings wherein like numeral annotations are provided throughout.
Reference is made herein to the attached drawings. Like reference numerals are used throughout the drawings to depict like or similar elements of the adjustable ironing board caddy. For the purposes of presenting a brief and clear description of the present invention, the preferred embodiment will be discussed as used for removably securing to an ironing board for convenient storage of iron when iron is in use and for convenient storage of ironing accessories when iron is not in use. The figures are intended for representative purposes only and should not be considered to be limiting in any respect.

The adjustable strap 15 comprises an elongated strip of fabric material affixed at opposing points of the sidewall 13. In the illustrated embodiment, sewn connections affix the adjustable strap 15 at opposing points of the sidewall 13. Other embodiments of the adjustable hanging ironing board caddy 11 may use other fastening methods such as removably affixable button snaps. The adjustable strap 15 is made of a flexible and planar construction whereas to allow the strap to contour around a surface and lay flat against it. The adjustable strap 15 is bisected into separate segments removably affixable to each other via a fastener 18. In the illustrated embodiment, a buckle fastener 18 connects the two segments of the adjustable strap 15. The buckle fastener 18 also allows the user to selectively adjust the length of the adjustable strap 15 to a preferred length.
