RAKE AND SCOOP
A rake and scoop includes a body having an upper surface, a lower surface, a front edge, and a rear end. The upper surface includes a concave shape from the front edge to the rear end. A plurality of drain openings are defined through the upper surface and lower surface of the body. A plurality of fingers are protruding from the front edge defining a plurality of grooves therebetween.
This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/677,516, filed May 29, 2018, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to retrieving items from sand and, more particularly, to a scoop that retrieves items from the sand and grooms the sand.
Sand scoops are typically used for retrieving items such as metal valuables, shells, waste, trash, and the like from sand. Sand scoops typically include drain holes to allow sand to pour out of the sand scoops and separate the sand from the items. Current sand scoops do not groom the sand.
As can be seen, there is a need for a scoop that retrieves items from sand and grooms the sand.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn one aspect of the present invention, a rake and scoop comprises: a body comprising an upper surface, a lower surface, a front edge, and a rear end, wherein the upper surface comprises a concave shape from the front edge to the rear end, a plurality of drain openings are defined through the upper surface and lower surface of the body, and a plurality of fingers are protruding from the front edge defining a plurality of grooves therebetween.
These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
Referring to
The body 10 of the present invention may include a bowl shape. The body 10 may be made of plastic, nylon, aluminum, and the like. The front edge of the body 10 may be substantially wider than the rear end 16. For example, side edges may taper and curve from the front edge to the rear end 16. The plurality of finger 12 may be rounded protrusions. The plurality of fingers 12 may be evenly spaced apart and may extend in the same direction as the front edge of the body 10.
The present invention may further include an elongated pole 20 coupled to the rear end 16 of the body 10. In certain embodiments, the rear end 16 of the body 10 includes a female threaded connector 18 and the elongated poll 20 includes a male threaded connector 22 coupled to the female threaded connector 18. Therefore, the elongated body may be releasably attachable to the elongated pole 20. In certain embodiments, the elongated poll 20 is a telescoping pole that extends in length.
The present invention may be used to scoop items out of the sand or water. If used to scoop items out of the sand, a user may scoop the item, the plurality of fingers 12 may simultaneously groom the sand, and the plurality of drain openings 14 may drain the sand. The user may rotate the body 10 while scooping the item from the sand to capture the item. Due to the shape of the present invention, items may be scooped at a 45 degree to a 90 degree angle relative to the user.
As illustrated in
It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
