BATHTUB TRAY

Abstract

A bathtub tray used for feeding s child that is bathing. The bathtub tray is comprised of a tray that has a top and a bottom. The top of the tray defines a wall that surrounds the circumference of the top of the tray. The top of the tray defines a first pit wherein a plate is placed. The top of the tray defines a second pit wherein a cup is placed. The top of the tray defines a third pit wherein a smaller food item is placed. The bottom of tray defines a set of hinges, each hinge is parallel to the other hinge and the hinges are centrally placed along the width of the tray. A pair of u-shaped legs, each u-shaped leg is attached to each hinge. The u-shaped legs are designed to expand outward when placed on the sidewalls of a bathtub.

Description

BACKGROUND

The present invention is directed a bathtub tray that is used to feed a child whom is bathing.

The inventor of the present invention conceived of the bathtub tray while she was feeding her grandchild in the bathtub.

The reason that she was feeding her grandchild in the bathtub was because she had learned, through her own children, that it was easier to feed a child while they where in a tub rather than when they sat in a chair. Tub feeding also allowed her to save time, for she could feed the child while the child bathed.

One of the difficulties of feeding a child while the child is in the tub is that the person feeding the child has to maintain the food item in his or her hands during the feeding. This can be troubling if the child loses his or her balance in the tub while the child is fed.

She addressed the hazard of feeding the child in the bathtub by designing a tray that would have two u-shaped legs that can attach to the sidewalls of the bathtub.

For the foregoing reasons, there is a need for bathtub tray that will allow an adult to feed a child in the bathtub.

SUMMARY

The present invention is a bathtub tray that will allow a child to be fed. The bathtub tray comprises of a tray that has a top and a bottom. The top of the tray defines a wall that surrounds the circumference of the top of the tray. The top of the tray defines a first pit wherein a plate is placed. The top of the tray defines a second pit wherein a cup is placed. The top of the tray defines a third pit wherein a smaller food item is placed. The bottom of tray defines a set of hinges, each hinge is parallel to the other hinge and the hinges are centrally placed along the width of the tray. A pair of u-shaped legs, each u-shaped leg is attached to each hinge. The u-shaped legs are designed to expand outward when placed on the sidewalls of a bathtub.

The tray of the present invention can have a width of at least 18 inches and a length of 12 inches.

An object of the present invention is to provide a bathtub tray that will allow an adult to feed a child while the child bathes.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a bathtub tray that will allow an adult to bathe and feed a child at the same time.

DESCRIPTION

The present invention, referenced in FIGS. 1-4, is directed to a bathtub tray used for feeding a child. The bathtub tray 100 comprises of a tray 10 that has a top 10a and a bottom 10b. The top of the tray 10a defines a wall 11 that surrounds the circumference of the top of the tray 10a. The top of the tray defines a first pit 20 wherein a plate is placed. The top of the tray defines a second pit 16 wherein a cup is placed. The top of the tray defines a third pit wherein a smaller food item is placed. The bottom of tray 10b defines a set of hinges 14, each hinge 14 is parallel to the other hinge 14 and the hinges 14 are centrally placed along the width 10c of the tray 10. A pair of u-shaped legs 12, each u-shaped leg 12 is attached to each hinge 14. The u-shaped legs 12 are designed to expand outward when placed on the sidewalls of a bathtub.

The tray of the present invention can have a width 10c of at least 18 inches and a length 10d of 12 inches.

An advantage of the present invention is that it provides a bathtub tray that allows an adult to feed a child while the child bathes.

Another advantage of the present invention is that it provides a bathtub tray that allows an adult to bathe and feed a child at the same time.

While the inventor's above description contains many specificities, these should not be construed as limitations on the scope, but rather as an exemplification of several preferred embodiments thereof. Many other variations are possible. Accordingly, the scope should be determined not by the embodiments illustrated, but by the appended claims and their legal equivalents.

Claims

1. A bathtub tray that allows a child to be fed while bathing, the bathtub tray comprises:

a tray that has a top and a bottom side and the tray has a length and a width, the top of the tray defines a wall that surrounds the circumference of the top of the tray, and the top of the tray defines a first pit wherein a plate is placed;

a set of hinges are attached to the bottom of the tray, each hinge is parallel to the other hinge and the hinges are centrally placed along the width of the tray; and

a pair of u-shaped legs, each u-shaped leg is attached to each hinge.

2. The bathtub tray that allows a child to be fed while bathing of claim 1, wherein the u-shaped legs are designed to expand outward when placed on a bathtub's sidewalls.

3. The bathtub tray that allows a child to be fed while bathing of claim 2, wherein the top of the tray defines a second pit wherein a cup is placed, and wherein the top of the tray defines a third pit for holding a food item.

4. The bathtub tray that allows a child to be fed while bathing of claim 3, wherein the width of the tray is at least 18 inches and the length of the tray is at least 12 inches.
