VERSATILE AND INTERCHANGEABLE WRIST-BAND BASED PLATFORM ARTICLE

A wrist-based platform article to facilitate accessibility to various items during certain types of activities is disclosed. Such an article includes a base removable wristband that secures for attachment of various platforms through magnets, snaps, and other like means. Such a platform may be of a bowl, a flat surface, or like three-dimensional structure. Such a platform may retain different materials for such access including pastes, liquids, plastic objects, metallic objects, and the like, and may retain certain objects through the underlying attachment means (such as a magnet for metallic objects). Such objects may be placed within a bowl, on a flat surface, or even temporarily connected with such a flat surface. In essence, the platform allows the user a free hand while retaining fluids, objects, etc., on demand without spilling, disengaging, or otherwise dropping such needed materials.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/764,105, filed on Jul. 19, 2018. The entirety of the provisional application is herein incorporated by reference.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The disclosure relates to a wrist-based platform article to facilitate accessibility to various items during certain types of activities. Such an article includes a base removable wristband that secures for attachment of various platforms through magnets, snaps, and other like means. Such a platform may be of a bowl, a flat surface, or like three-dimensional structure. Such a platform may retain different materials for such access including pastes, liquids, plastic objects, metallic objects, and the like, and may retain certain objects through the underlying attachment means (such as a magnet for metallic objects). Such objects may be placed within a bowl, on a flat surface, or even temporarily connected with such a flat surface. In essence, the platform allows the user a free hand while retaining fluids, objects, etc., on demand without spilling, disengaging, or otherwise dropping such needed materials.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Individuals have long undertaken activities that required the utilization of both hands simultaneously, from typical actions as hair salon treatments to sewing to carpentry and many things in-between. The need for retaining materials within arm's reach during such activities may allow for more ergonomic and comfortable movements, particularly to avoid the repetitive actions back and forth between locations. For instance, in a hair salon, the hair salon professional typically utilizes treatments (dyes, softening agents, and the like) as well as different types of scissors, hair pins, hair clips, and the like. Generally, such a person has a client sitting in a chair with a station beneath a mirror where s/he stores such materials and implements for utilization during a hair service. Thus, a treatment paste (hair relaxer, for example) is typically provided within a container that is placed on the station and the salon professional will utilize a brush implement to access a certain amount while keeping a hold on a discrete portion of the client's tresses. The salon professional then has to keep the tress in place by hand while reaching with the brush to obtain a certain amount of the relaxer for application to the held tress. This exercise is then repeated until the salon professional has completed her/his activity for the client's benefit. Such an action, however, relies upon the salon professional reaching with a brush into a distant container that may (or may not) be held securely on the table for such an action to commence. The salon professional could thus easily spill the container on the station, could spill the relaxer (which is highly basic; a dye could spill in a like manner to stain the floor, the chair, and/or a person's clothing), could stumble as s/he moves in such repetitive motions, and/or could suffer from injuries due to such repetitions over a long period of time of standing, stepping, reaching, and twisting, as needed to complete multiple treatments over a day, let alone many days. There is nothing provided today within the beauty industry that allows for a simplified manner of hair treatments activities of this type. At best, there is possibly noted a receptacle within a station that retains a fluid material container for such a purpose. Unfortunately, such a receptacle does not provide any improvements in terms of ergonomic movements as the salon professional still must undertake actions that require movement to and from the chair and client, all while retaining a hold of a target tress at the same time. Furthermore, the usual means of retaining hair pins and clips are either on the same type of station or pinned to the dresser's own clothing (or even the client's smock). There is a need to facilitate access in the same manner as for fluid materials, as noted above, with nothing of consequence provided within such the beauty industry as of today.

As it concerns carpentry concerns, for instance, there have been provided magnetic wristbands that allow for direct placement onto a cylindrical band that are not provided on a flat surface, but a curved type that is not totally reliable and as accessible as a flat type would be. Sewing aficionados may have pin cushions devices that are provided around a wrist, but not in terms of a bowl or flat surface that magnetically retains such implements in place while the user has to move her or his hands/arms in different ways during such an activity. IN other words, in any of these actions, the ability to retain and facilitate access to such materials and implements while moving one's hands simultaneously and in various directions and for myriad activities, shows a need to supply such articles for such beneficial reasons. Again, to date, there is lacking anything that accords such a versatile system and device for such a purpose within the different industries at issue today.

Advantages and Brief Summary of the Invention

A distinct advantage of the versatile removable and interchangeable platform article and system described herein is the simultaneous capability of manually maneuvering and retaining materials for utilization while separately manually operating a different implement. Another advantage thereof is the facilitation of not only allowing for reduced movement and/or mobility in association with separate activities, but also the ability to easily remove a platform for materials manipulation and handling in such a scenario with a different platform for utilization of different materials within the same or different activity. Yet another advantage is the interchangeability of platforms with a singular base wrist-band that may be removed on demand itself. Still another advantage is the ability to provide different platforms on such a wrist-band base for manipulation and retention of multiple different types of materials simultaneously.

Accordingly, the disclosure encompasses an interchangeable-on-demand article for retaining multiple and different materials on a user's wrist, said article comprising i) a wristband that is removable from a user's wrist or forearm and comprises connection means for detachable attachment with a platform for retention of materials; and ii) at least one platform for retention of materials comprising a connection means complementary to said connection means of said wristband for secure and reliable attachment thereto; wherein said platform may be removed from said wristband and replaced by a different platform without having to remove said wristband from said user's wrist or forearm. The utilization of such an article for the availability of such materials for the user while undertaking an activity with both hands requiring said materials is encompassed herein as well. Such a platform may be of any type for materials retention purpose including, without limitation, a bowl, a plate, a flat surface, a thin flat surface (for, for instance, the capability of attaching pins and/or clips with contact to the top and bottom surfaces thereof simultaneously), a cup, and the like. The connection means for such a platform to detachably attach to said wristband may be of any type that reliably and securely connects such components together such that the user can manipulate her/his arm (wrist) as needed while undertaking any such activity. Thus, without limitation, such a connection may be a magnet (with one on the wristband surface and another on the connection surface/side of the platform), a pressure application (such as inserting through flexible surroundings a male end of the platform into a female cavity, or vice-versa, of the wristband and removing through pulling therefrom), a threaded screw-type junction of the two components, slide insertion with a pressure application (having a side-configured recess within the wristband and a complementary shaped plug on the platform), and the like.

The materials for retention within and/or on such a platform may be myriad from fluids, pastes, glues, cleaners, coloring agents, and other types of liquids that may be of necessity for a user to keep close while undertaking an activity including the utilization thereof with the other hand, carpentry items (screws, nails, pins, etc.), hair tress securing articles (hairpins, hair clips, and the like), and other like small items. The liquids can be easily retained within a bowl platform and, if further needed, such a bowl may be configured to permit a user to effectively utilize a brush for application on a different surface (a person's hair, a wall, a floor, paper, etc.) and further to allow for effective contact to remove excess fluids prior to removal out of and away from such a bowl. Thus, for example, a lip may be employed and engineered within the bowl platform to accord such a possible extended surface therefrom to run the fluid-containing and manipulating brush thereover for such a purpose. The carpentry items, hair tress securing items, and other small items, may be retained through the utilization of a bowl, a flat surface, a thin flat surface (as opposed to a thicker type plate), with any of such platforms provided in any type of geometric shape. The utilization of a magnet may be of particular usefulness with certain items that are themselves metal materials. Thus, nails, screws, pins, clips, and the like, may be more easily retained through the inclusion of magnets within the platform (whether a bowl or plate), such as interspersed within the upper surface thereof, to allow for the needed secure and reliable retention thereof during a carpentry, hair care treatment, or other activity. However, alternatively, it has been found that the actual magnet that may be utilized to connect with the wristband (in such a magnet-based article) can provide sufficient retention power for such metallic materials under certain circumstances. If a pressure application, screw-type application, or slot-insertion application is utilized, however, at least one embedded magnet may be needed to aid with such metal materials retention purposes. The above-noted thin flat plate is intended to denote a low-height platform that is sufficiently thin to allow for materials such as hair pins and clips to easily attach thereto for retention purposes through placing such a pin (having a top and a bottom portion with a middle curved portion connecting the two) attach with both surfaces contacting the top and bottom surface of such a platform simultaneously. The same situation would be in place for a clip device as well. In other words, such a platform allows for the user to retain such pins and clips for removal by the other hand during such an activity (and thus allows for the user to remain in place to accomplish such an action without having to move to another surface to obtain such materials).

The platforms noted herein may also comprise at least two different types of retention components connected to such a base wristband for access purposes. Thus, for example, the detachable attachment platform may include a portion with a bowl (lipped or otherwise) and a flat plate with magnets embedded therein simultaneously (the bowl may set upon a portion of the flat plate, for instance). Other variations of different platforms may include a regular bowl, a lipped bowl, and a thin flat plate together, just two different bowls, two different plates, and the like.

If a bowl (or lipped bowl) is utilized, such may further be supplied with a liner or, alternatively, may have a pre-dosed and -supplied container that can be introduced therein prior to undertaking of such an activity. As one non-limiting example, a hair relaxer may be supplied within a pre-packaged flexible container that may be of complementary shape to the lipped bowl itself. Thus, when needed, the user may simply insert such a flexible container therein, pierce or open as needed, and then introduce a brush as the relaxer-filled lipped bowl is present on her/his wrist, remove excess through moving contact with the lip portion, and then apply to a client's hair on demand until such an activity is completed or another supply of the relaxer is required. This permits the user to easily dispose of the flexible container (and thus any residual relaxer) thereafter and reuse, after cleaning and, if necessary, disinfecting, the lipped bowl platform. Such a possible exercise thus allows the user, here, as an example, a hair salon professional, the ability to retain such a relaxer safely and securely on her/his wrist while remaining at her/his station (chair) and manipulating, as needed, a client's tresses while simultaneously applying/brushing such a relaxer as needed on selected tresses. This avoids the need for the user to continuously move from such a chair to a station with the relaxer thereon and thus more deftly and reliably access such a paste (basic chemical, which may be hazardous if spilled) within her/his reach.

Such a capability (ease of reach, etc.) is thus a benefit of the disclosed article (and method of utilization thereof) as it concerns a user and her/his needs for facilitated access to materials. Other liquids, including, again, without limitation, hair dyes, hair colorants (and other like hair treatments), glues and pastes for surface applications, even ingredients for recipes in the kitchen, may be of utility with such a system. A hair salon professional (or even just a person in her/his own home) may need such an article to retain pins, clips, etc., during an activity (hair treatments, sewing activities, and the like. The same is true for nails, screws, pins, etc., for carpentry purposes, in that such a user may need such materials within her/his reach while tending to a project. In this manner, the disclosed article provides an interchangeable article as needed for a user to access any type of material while undertaking such a hands-on activity.

The wristband itself may be provided as any type of flexible structure that accords a reliable and secure placement around a user's wrist or forearm. Thus, such a wristband component may be already provided in round form (such as a metallic flexible watchband-type) or as a detachable structure that can be introduced around a user's wrist or forearm and subsequently connected in some manner to secure such in a desired location thereon. A connection means including, without limitation, complementary snaps between two opposing ends thereof, magnets in a like disposition, belt loop format, and hook-and-loop fabric fasteners, may be employed for such a purpose. The wristband itself may be of any flexible material, including plastics (polyolefin, polyacrylic, PEN, rubber, silicone rubber, silicone, polystyrene, polycarbonate, and the like) with a middle portion thereof that includes the necessary complementary connection means to allow for platform detachable attachment thereto. Thus, a recess with threads for a screw-type connection, a recess for a magnet, an extension with magnet thereon, a side-opened slot connection, a recess with a flexible component there-above for introduction and pressure application means purposes, and the like.

The platform(s) of this disclosure, as alluded to above, may be myriad in their configuration as well as structure and constituent components. The necessary component is, again, the complementary connection means to the same within the wristband. Thus, the platform should have a bottom surface that includes one of a screw, a magnet, an extension for sliding within a side slot, and/or an extension for pressure application within a recess. Such a platform may be provided as a metal, wooden, plastic, glass, even nonwoven fabric surface, if desired, as long as such a platform exhibits sufficient stability and resiliency to retain targeted materials (liquids, pastes, metal nails, clothes, pins, sewing needles, again, the list is basically endless) while secured to the wristband base and around a user's wrist or forearm during an activity utilizing both hands (or any equivalent thereto). Such a platform may be of any type noted above, whether a plate, a bowl, a cup, etc., for such a purpose, as well. More than one such platform may be provided on a wristband at any one time, again, as noted above, wherein such multiple materials retention components may be supplied together for such a purpose, or a base plate, for instance, may include a recess or other connection means itself with a different platform (such as, for example, a bowl) that may be utilized with the wristband alone or separately with the flat platform on demand. Such a platform may include multiple bowls, as well, to allow, for example, a hair salon professional multiple fluid treatments within reach simultaneously (such as multiple dyes, again, as a non-limiting example, for a multi-coloring treatment at one sitting). Additionally, such a platform may be provided as a maneuverable/twistable structure on the wrist-band base in order to allow the user facilitated reach to portions thereof (such as, with such a multiple bowl arrangement, better reach capabilities on demand). The base wrist-band thus may be, again, a magnet that allows for rotation of the platform at issue, or a twistable snap, etc., for such a beneficial activity. In any event, again, as noted previously, such a platform may be provided as a rigid plastic, a flexible plastic, or any other material as noted above, to allow for such access by the user on demand. A flexible lipped bowl is potentially preferred for certain fluid-based activities (hairstyling, for instance) while a resilient and sturdy plastic is potentially preferred for a flat plate (thin, or about 10-50 mils thickness, or thick, from 51-150 mils thickness, as examples of the differences thereof) to allow for clipping or placement of metal materials thereon or therearound (and thus resiliency and stability to retain such materials during utilization thereof).

The platforms and wristbands may be provided, as well, in any type of color scheme and/or design, without limitation.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS

Reference now should be made to the drawings, presented as non-limiting possible embodiments in accordance with the descriptions provided above. The ordinarily skilled artisan would fully understand the breadth and scope intended herein in relation to the following potentially preferred types.

It will be understood that, although the terms first, second, third, etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element from another element. Thus, a first element discussed below could be termed a second element without departing from the teachings of the present disclosure.

The terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only and is not intended to be limiting. As used herein, the singular forms “a”, “an”, and “the” are intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. It will be further understood that the terms “comprises” and/or “comprising” or “includes” and/or “including” when used in this specification, specify the presence of stated features, regions, integers, steps, operations, elements, and/or components, but do not preclude the presence or addition of one or more other features, regions, integers, steps, operations, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.

FIG. 1 depicts an aerial view of one potential embodiment of a wristband within this disclosure. Such a wristband includes a base 10 with two opposing ends 14, 16 having complementary connection means thereon (here, magnets that allow for detachable attachment around a user's wrist or forearm (such as in FIG. 10). Additionally, on the top side thereof is present a connection means 12 (here, a magnet that extends upward from the base 10) for complementary connection to a platform (as in FIG. 4, for example). FIG. 2 shows the connected wristband 10 with end magnets 14, 16, attached to form the shape to surround a user's wrist or forearm (again, such as in FIG. 10). The connection means magnet 12 is thus available on the top side thereof for platform connection purposes.

FIGS. 3-8 show different types of possible platforms as embodiments within this disclosure. FIGS. 3 and 3A show side and aerial views, respectively, of a lipped bowl 18 for, as an example, the retention of fluid, paste, and like materials therein during a user's activity. The lip 19 allows for a brush, as one example, to be movably contacted thereby to remove excess fluid, paste, etc., easily during utilization thereof, ostensibly facilitating a single-hand utilization, access, and application of such a fluid, paste, etc., as needed. The bowl 18 includes a flat underside 22 with a connection means (here, to complement the wristband of FIG. 2, an extended magnet 20; of course, as noted herein and above, such a connection means may be of any type that reliably secures the platform to the base and is not limited to a magnet system). FIG. 3A shows an aerial view of the bowl 18 with the magnet 20 shown as it is present on the underside thereof (22 of FIG. 3). FIG. 4 thus shows the connection between the lipped bowl 18 and the wristband 10 at the connecting magnets 12, 20.

FIG. 5 shows a flat plate surface with FIG. 5A showing an aerial view thereof. Such a plate is of a thickness of from 51-150 mils to provide a thicker structure for retention purposes on the surface thereof. The plate 24 includes its own underside base 25 and an extended magnet 26. Embedded magnets (not illustrated) may be employed for extra retention power of metal materials if desired. FIG. 5B depicts the formed wristband 10 with flat plate 24 connected thereto via such magnets 12, 26, as above. FIGS. 6 and 6A depict a thin plate (less than 51 mils, preferably about 10-20 mils in thickness) 28 for the ability to easily introduce hair pins and lips therearound (contacting both the top and bottom surfaces simultaneously and easily removed by a user with one hand as a result). The plate 28 includes, as above, an underside base 29 with an extended magnet 30 that complements the magnet 12 of the wristband (10 of FIG. 2). FIG. 7 provides a round plate 32 with a magnet 34 as another possibly embodiment. FIGS. 8 and 8A depict side and aerial views, respectively, of a cup (or simple bowl, for that matter) 36 with an underside base 37 and connection means magnet 38. In these structures, then, the platforms may be interchangeable on demand by a user as it concerns the wristband base (10 of FIG. 2), to allow for significant versatility thereof for different activities on demand.

FIG. 9 shows a perspective view of the base system 100 of the wristband 10 applied around a user's wrist (or forearm) 102 with the extended magnet (12 (again, as a representation of one possible connection means from the different types described herein) available for such platform detachable attachment purposes. FIGS. 10 and 10A show the connection then of the lipped bowl 18 of FIG. 3A to the wristband 10 and applied around a user's wrist (or forearm) 102, thus allowing the user the ability to utilize such a platform within an activity with access in such a manner.

FIG. 11 shows an exploded view of a lipped bowl 18 as in FIG. 3A that includes a flexible container 112 (or liner) including a hairdressing paste 114 (relaxer, for example) that many be placed within the bowl 18 (which, again, may be attached to a wristband as in FIG. 4 and on the user's wrist or forearm as in FIG. 10). The user may then utilize a brush 116 to access the paste 114 and also the lip 19 to remove excess paste to prevent unwanted spillage. Such a bowl may be utilized for any other types of fluids, liquids, glues, dyes, cleaners, colorants, etc., as noted above, as well.

FIG. 12 shows a flat thick plate 24 with embedded magnets therein and the ability to retain metal materials (nails 118, screws 120, and pins 122, as examples) thereon while such may be attached to a wristband (10 of FIG. 2) and placed around a user's wrist or forearm (as in FIG. 10, again) for carpentry, sewing, and like hands-on activities. FIG. 13 shows a thin plate (as in FIGS. 6 and 6A) 28 with a hair pin 124 attached thereto for facilitated access and removal. The same may be utilized with a wristband, etc., as noted above, for any such activity (hair clips, clothes pins, paper clips, bulldog clips, etc., may be employed as well).

FIGS. 14 and 15 show multiple platforms on a single structure within the disclosure's scope and metes and bounds, as embodiments. In FIG. 14, a bowl 136, with a lip 137 and a paste 137 is integrated within a flat plate 130 having embedded magnets 134, an underside base 132, and an extended magnet 131 as a connection means with the wristband base (10 of FIG. 2). FIG. 15 shows a thin plate 140 with a lipped bowl 146 and a paste therein 148 with a hair pin 144 attached as well. An underside base 141 includes, as above, an extended magnet 142 for connection with a wristband base (10 of FIG. 2). In this manner, and with any other type of combination of platforms described and delineated herein, a user may utilize multiple structures at once for increased versatility and interchangeability as needed for different activities.

Thus, an interchangeable, versatile system and article for materials retention on demand for various activities of a single user is provided as described above. Such an article is worn on a user's wrist or forearm and allows for free movement range with simultaneous access to materials for a activity utilizing a user's hands for such a purpose. Such an article, method, and system thus permits the user facilitated access without requiring undesirable movement and/or manipulation, thus improving the ergonomic issues associated with such an activity and more efficiently and effectively allowing such a user a means to accomplish different activities without resorting to cumbersome and/or taxing actions. Such an article thus improves not only ergonomic concerns, but safety through a cleaner and more reliable manner of undertaking certain activities, as well. Although specific embodiments of the invention have been disclosed, those having ordinary skill in the art will understand that changes can be made to the specific embodiments without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. The scope of the invention is not to be restricted, therefore, to the specific embodiments, and it is intended that the description herein cover any and all such applications, modifications, and embodiments within the scope of the present invention.

Claims

1. An interchangeable-on-demand article for retaining multiple and different materials on a user's wrist, said article comprising:

i) a wristband that is removable from a user's wrist or forearm and comprises connection means for detachable attachment with a platform for retention of materials; and
ii) at least one platform for retention of materials comprising a connection means complementary to said connection means of said wristband for secure and reliable attachment thereto;
wherein said platform may be removed from said wristband and replaced by a different platform without having to remove said wristband from said user's wrist or forearm.

2. The article of claim 1 wherein said platform is of any type for materials retention purposes selected from the group of a bowl, a plate, a cup, and any combination thereof.

3. The article of claim 1 where said connection means for such a platform to detachably attach to said wristband may be of any type that reliably and securely connects such components together such that the user can manipulate her/his wrist and/or forearm as needed while undertaking an activity.

4. The article of claim 3 wherein said connection means is selected from a magnet, a pressure application, a threaded screw-type junction, a slide insertion with a pressure application, and any combination thereof.
