Many people wear a cap with the logo of their favorite baseball or basketball team, for example. Additionally, some people collect hats. Indeed, some people own several dozen hats.

However, a common problem with hats is that they can easily be misplaced and are hard to organize. To remedy this problem, various hat holders and stands exist in the prior art. There are hat stands that can accommodate ten or more hats. And then there are other hat holders that hold only a few hats, or even just one. A common problem is that such hat storage devices will sometimes causes a mark or creases on the hat. Also, the typical hat storage device takes up too much space or don't look aesthetically pleasing.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to FIG. 1, an example of a hat 80 being suspended from a hat holder 100 mounted to a wall 20, according to an embodiment, is illustrated. As will be described in greater detail, the hat holder 100 includes mounting means such as an adhesive that allows it to be secured to the wall 20. Although the hat 80 shown herein is a cap, it is to be understood that the hat holder 100 can accommodate holding various different types of hats. Furthermore, although the hat holder 100 is shown attached to a wall 20, it is to be understood that the hat holder 100 may be attached to other surfaces, such as a door, a piece of furniture, a refrigerator, etc. The hat holder 100 can be made as a single piece of molded plastic, for example. Alternatively, the hat holder 100 can be made in more than one part and then assembled. Finally, it is to be appreciated that although the hat holder 100 is designed for holding hats, it can also be used satisfactorily for other items, e.g., headphones.

Referring to FIG. 2, a perspective view of the hat holder 100 is shown, according to an embodiment. The hat holder 100 includes a back plate 105, a curved section 102, and a guard 107. The hat holder 100 can be mounted to the wall 20 or the like using suitable mounting means. In the illustrated example, the mounting means is an adhesive, more particularly, a double-sided adhesive 115 (FIG. 4) affixed to the rear of the back plate 105 (facing the wall). However, the mounting means can instead, or in addition, include another attachment device, e.g., screws, nails, hook. In the shown embodiment, the back plate 105 is divided into five sides, 105A-E. However, the back plate 105 could instead assume a different shape, such as rectangular, square, oval, etc. Notably, the curved section 102 has approximately the same curvature as the inner band of the hat. In this manner, when a hat is placed onto hat holder 100, the inner band rests comfortably on the curved portion 102, and the hat does not receive any creases and indentations. Furthermore, when the hat is mounted on the hat holder 100 (FIG. 1), the insignia of the hat can be easily seen. Moreover, the guard 107 functions to keep the hat on the curved section 107 so that it can be securely held in place. Although the hat holder 100 can be used for personal usage, the hat holder 100 can also be used in a retail environment to display hats for sale. Additionally, the back plate 105 and guard 107 can have various indicia such as a flag, sports team name or logo, business logo, tag line, advertisement, abstract art, etc. Finally, it is to be understood that a plurality of hat holders 100 may be attached to a wall or other surface, and arranged in any suitable manner thereon.

FIGS. 3-4 show front and back sides of the example hat holder 100, respectively.

FIGS. 5-6 illustrate side views of the hat holder 100, respectively.

FIGS. 5-6 illustrate top and bottom views of the hat holder 100, respectively.

Although the foregoing embodiments have been described in some detail for purposes of clarity of understanding, the invention is not limited to the details provided. There are many alternative ways of implementing the invention. The disclosed embodiments are illustrative and not restrictive.
