STRINGED JEWELRY

Abstract

A stringed-jewelry piece includes a bezel substantially surrounding an interior space, and string wires, crisscrossing each other, extend between different locations on the bezel and span over the interior space, imparting to the jewelry a string art appearance. Preferably, the string wire holding posts are located on the bezel and each of the string wires has at least one end thereof connected to one of the posts and the other wire end being fixed to another post located across it.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention is generally directed to jewelry and, more particularly, to jewelry that provides a new and exciting look, which imparts to the jewelry a stringed or wired appearance and a unique, signature look.

The jewelry field dates back to the dawn of civilization and jewelry designers are never at rest, always thinking and searching for new ideas to bring to the marketplace new and exciting appearances and technologies that will catch the eyes and interests of jewelry wearers, particularly discerning women.

The present inventor has conceived and developed various embodiments and jewelry presentations that are referred to below generally by the terminology stringed-jewelry.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide jewelry of a new and exciting appearance.

It is a further object of the present invention to provide jewelry of the aforementioned type which is simple and inexpensive to implement and which provides a dramatically different look in jewelry, as compared to prior art jewelry.

The foregoing and other objects of the invention are realized in the form of various jewelry pieces, the common theme of which is that they utilize a basic jewelry bezel that surrounds an interior space, with the bezel itself having an overall shapes, for example, a heart shape, a pear shape, a round shape, an oval shape, a marquise shape and the like.

Principally, the unique appearance of the jewelry of the present invention derives from its inclusion of strings or wires crisscrossing the bezel, in various formats and appearances. More specifically, the invention comprises a stringed-jewelry piece, including: a bezel substantially surrounding an interior space; and a plurality of string wires crisscrossing each other and extending between different locations on the bezel and spanning over the interior space. Preferably, the bezel further comprises a plurality of posts located on the bezel and wherein each of the string wires has at least one end thereof connected to one of the posts. In some embodiments the string wires extends between two of the posts and over the interior space of the bezel. Preferably, the bezel has a recognizable shape, for example, one of: heart-shaped, pear-shaped and round-shaped.

In other embodiments, the stringed-jewelry includes at least one eyelet for attaching to the stringed-jewelry piece a mounting hardware, for example, a chain or a stud for pierced ears, or to be worn as a pendant.

In other embodiments, an ornament, e.g. a diamond or a metallic adornment is mounted in the interior space, either below or above the crisscrossing string wires. Preferably, the string wires extend between the ornament and the posts of the bezel. The ornament, e.g. the diamond, may be mounted to dangle below the string wires. The ornament and the string wires can be made of any desired material, metallic or non-metallic, e.g. plastic.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

With reference to the drawings, FIG. 1 is a perspective of a first embodiment of the stringed-jewelry of the present invention. In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the stringed-jewelry piece 10 has an overall heart-shaped, which is imparted to it by the heart-shaped bezel 12, which surrounds an interior heart-shaped space 13 and which is further decorated by scallops 14 extending from a bottom surface of the bezel 12. The jewelry piece 10 has left and right eyelets 16a, 16b that enable attaching to the jewelry piece 10 to a chain or other mounting hardware that allows the jewelry piece 10 to be worn hanging around the wearer's neck, e.g. a chain, or pinned to clothing, or as an earring, etc.

The overall novel look and appearance of the jewelry piece 10 derives from the crisscrossing wires or strings 20 that extend between posts 22, which are regularly spaced around the bezel 12 creating a unique look of crisscrossing wires or stings that lends to the jewelry piece its unique signature look and appearance. The posts 22 can be slit at the top to impart to them the look and appearance of a screw head, if desired. The posts are typically formed by casting or otherwise, so that they extend upward from the upper surface 18 of the bezel 12.

The jewelry piece 10 can also be worn by attaching to it ear posts (not shown) so that they can constitute earrings or they can include mounting hardware that allows them to be attached to bracelets or to serve as pendants that are attached to clothing and in many other ways that jewelry pieces can be attached to a wearer's body or to a wearer's clothing.

FIG. 2 is a side view of FIG. 1 showing the screw-shaped posts 22 and the scallops 14 and showing that the bezel 12 has a body thickness that is indicated by reference numeral 12a.

FIG. 3 shows the rear view of FIG. 1, revealing that the strings or wires 20 crisscross each other in various directions, the depicted embodiments being understood not to be limited to the precise arrangement shown, so that the actual jewelry can come in various different crisscrossing arrangements to obtain different looks and appearances. The wires themselves can be made of gold, silver, stainless steel or any metallic material, and indeed may be made of synthetic material, for example, plastic materials.

FIG. 4 shows another embodiment of the present invention which in all principal aspects and considerations is identical to the embodiment of FIG. 1, the variation being that the stringed-jewelry piece 30 has a bezel 31 that is pear-shaped. In FIG. 5, the stringed-jewelry piece 40 has a bezel 41 that is circular in shape. The scallops 44 thereof are also indicated, as are the scallops 34 in FIG. 4.

Turning to FIG. 6, the present inventor provides a modification to FIG. 1 with an additional ornament in the form of a center mounted jewelry stone 56 that has its own setting with post heads 52, so that the depicted stringed-jewelry piece 50 provides a modified look wherein the wires or strings 53 extend between the posts 52 located on the main bezel 51 to and fro the setting 55 of the center stone 56. In this embodiment is also depicted the right and left sections 56a, 56b of a chain that are attached to the eyelets shown in this figure and also shown in the prior embodiments.

In the stringed-jewelry piece 60 depicted in FIG. 7, a dangling stone 64 has a setting that is connected to the upper edge of the heart-shaped bezel and can dangle or swing left and right by being mounted behind the strings in the backside of the jewelry piece 60. The right and left chain sections 66a, 66b are also depicted.

In FIG. 8, a slightly modified version of the embodiment of FIG. 7 shows the center stone tipped to the left side and also shows an additional eyelet 75 to which other jewelry chains or hanging ornaments can be attached including by having a removable clasp 76 that supports a chain 77. This is in addition to the chain sections 76a, 76b that are part of this stringed-jewelry piece 70.

In the further variation of the present invention, in the stringed-jewelry piece 80 of FIG. 9, a metallic or other type of ornament is attached at the upper tip 84 of the heart-shaped bezel and is depicted as an ornament 86 that is visible from the front and through the strings or wires of this embodiment.

FIG. 10 is similar to FIG. 9, but the ornament 94 is attached by spokes 95a, 95b and 95c as shown, providing a different look for this stringed-jewelry piece 90.

Although the present invention has been described in relation to particular embodiments thereof, many other variations and modifications and other uses will become apparent to those skilled in the art. It is preferred, therefore, that the present invention be limited not by the specific disclosure herein, but only by the appended claims.

2. A stringed-jewelry piece, comprising:

a bezel substantially surrounding an interior space; and

a plurality of string wires crisscrossing each other and extending between different locations on the bezel and spanning over the interior space,

wherein the bezel further comprises a plurality of posts located only on the bezel and projecting therefrom and wherein each of the string wires has at least one end thereof connected to one of the posts and wherein each of the string wires extends between two of the posts, extending over the interior space of the bezel and wherein the posts are screw-shaped.

4. The stringed-jewelry piece of claim 2, wherein the bezel is one of:

heart-shaped, pear-shaped and round-shaped.

5. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 2, including at least one eyelet for attaching to the stringed-jewelry piece a mounting hardware.

6. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 5, wherein the mounting hardware comprises a chain.

7. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 5, wherein the mounting wire comprises an earring stud.

8. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 2, including an ornament mounted in the interior space, either below or above the crisscrossing string wires.

9. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 8, wherein the ornament comprises a jewel in a setting.

10. The stringed-jewelry piece of claim 9, wherein at least one of the string wires extends between the setting of the jewel and a respective one of the posts of the bezel.

11. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 10, wherein the jewel is a diamond.

12. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 8, wherein the ornament is mounted to the bezel in a manner allowing the ornament to dangle from the bezel.

13. The stringed jewelry piece of claim 8, wherein the ornament is made of one of metallic and synthetic materials.
