CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of priority of U.S. provisional application No. 62/725,506, filed Aug. 31, 2018, the contents of which are herein incorporated by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to compression apparel and, more particularly, to compressional apparel with accessory pockets.

Activewear leggings and shorts are a very popular clothing choice. Carrying self-defense tools is also something that many people like to do. However, current activewear does not support the ability to carry self-defense tools. To carry self-defense tools, people must also wear a holster, belt, or carry a backpack of some sort. These items can be bulky, uncomfortable, and restrict fast access to self-defense tools. Pockets in current activewear do not have any special features to make self-defense tools safe to carry while still being fast to access, comfortable, and fashionable.

As can be seen, there is a need for compressional apparel with improved accessory pockets for carrying firearms and other tools or items.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

In one aspect of the present invention, a garment comprises: a waist band comprising a lower rim, an upper rim opposite the lower rim, an outer surface, and an inner surface opposite the outer surface; a pair of leg sleeves extending downward from the lower rim of the waist band, wherein the waist band and the pair of leg sleeves are made of an elastic material; a first panel comprising a first side, a second side, and a bottom stitched to the waist band, wherein at least a portion of a top of the first panel is separated from the waist band and defines an opening leading into an outer pocket defined in between the first panel and the waist band; and a second panel comprising a first side and a second side stitched to the first panel, wherein at least a portion of a top of the second panel is separated from the first panel and defines a top opening leading into an inner pocket defined in between the second panel and the first panel.

In another aspect of the present invention, a garment comprises: a waist band comprising a lower rim, an upper rim opposite the lower rim, an outer surface, and an inner surface opposite the outer surface, wherein the waist band comprises an inner pocket and an outer pocket that overlap one another, wherein the inner pocket defines a conical shape; and a pair of leg sleeves extending downward from the lower rim of the waist band, wherein the waist band and the pair of leg sleeves are made of an elastic material.

In another aspect of the present invention, a method of concealing a firearm in a garment comprising steps of: wearing a garment, the garment comprising: a waist band comprising an inner pocket and an outer pocket overlapping one another; and a pair of leg sleeves extending downward from the waist band, wherein the waist band and the pair of leg sleeves are made of an elastic material; placing a firearm into the inner pocket; and placing a card into the outer pocket so that the card covers a trigger guard of the firearm.

These and other features, aspects and advantages of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the following drawings, description and claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.

The present invention includes activewear leggings, pants or shorts with specially designed pockets to hold self-defense tools and essentials. The present invention allows individuals to wear activewear leggings and shorts that can securely hold a firearm, mace, knife, taser, or other self-defense item. The pockets are shaped in a unique manner to securely hold the tools even during physical activity such as running. A double pocket system enables one pocket to securely hold a firearm while a second pocket holds a credit card or other solid material item directly in front of the trigger to guard it from being touched from the outer surface of the leggings. Different shaped pockets are used for different self-defense tools. The design also hides the visibility of the tools from the public while providing easy access for the user. Specially designed fabric is used against the body of the user to increase the user's comfort while holding the self-defense tools.

Unlike other leggings which have pockets in the waistband, the present invention has a pocket within a pocket by utilizing an additional strip of material on the back side of the waistband, The dual pockets provide a secure way to hold a self-defense tool in which the firearm and other items could be stored in the waistband pocket. Should the holster pocket be used to store a firearm, the double pocket feature also allows for a solid trigger guard to be inserted in the other waistband pocket which protects a person from unintentionally pressing the firearm/self-defense devise's trigger while in pocket.

Referring to FIGS. 1 through 6, the present invention includes a garment, such as pants or shorts. The garment includes a waist band 10 and a pair of leg sleeves 22. The waist band 10 includes an upper rim, a lower rim, an outer surface, and an inner surface. The pair of leg sleeves 22 include an outer surface, an inner surface, an upper rim, and a lower rim. The upper rim of the pair of leg sleeves 22 are coupled to and extend downward from the waist band 10. The pair of leg sleeves 10 are tubular sleeves sized to fit around legs of a user 24. The garment further includes a front portion to cover a crotch of the user 24 and a rear portion to cover a buttock of the user 24. The garment is made of an elastic material, such as woven elastane fibers so that the garment is skintight.

The waist band 10 of the present invention includes an inner pocket 20 and an outer pocket 14 that overlap one another. The outer pocket 14 may be defined by a first panel 12 and the inner pocket 20 may be defined by a second panel 16. The first panel 12 and the second panel 16 may also be made of the elastic material. The first panel 12 includes a first side, a second side, and a bottom stitched to the waist band 10. At least a portion of a top of the first panel 12 is separated from the waist band 10 and defines an opening leading into the outer pocket 14 defined in between the first panel 12 and the waist band 10. The second panel 16 includes a first side and a second side stitched to the first panel. At least a portion of a top of the second panel 16 is separated from the first panel 12 and defines a top opening leading into an inner pocket 20 defined in between the second panel 16 and the first panel 12.

The inner pocket 20 may be shaped and sized to receive a firearm 26, such as a pistol. In such embodiments, at least a portion of a bottom of the second panel 16 is separated from the first panel 12 and defines a bottom opening leading out of the inner pocket 20. Therefore, the barrel of the firearm 26 may protrude below the inner pocket 20. In certain embodiments, the top opening of the inner pocket 20 is larger than the bottom opening of the inner pocket 20 so that the firearm is securely disposed within the inner pocket 20. For example, stitching 18 of the second panel 16 to the first panel 12 is angled towards one another to define a conical shaped pocket or a wedge shape, which prevents the firearm 26 from sliding down a user's leg. In certain embodiments, the stitching 18 may be through the first panel 12, the second panel 16, and the waist band 10. In such embodiments, the outer pocket 14 also includes a conical shaped pocket or a wedge shape.

The outer pocket 14 is used to store other items. The outer pocket 14 may be used to store a flat rigid piece that covers the trigger guard, preventing an accidental discharge of the firearm 26. For example, the flat rigid piece may be a card 28. The outer pocket 14 may be stitched on the bottom to prevent the items from sliding out.

A method of using the present invention may include the following. The user puts the athletic pants, leggings, cropped leggings, shorts, jeggings, sweatpants, etc. on, then safely places the self-defense tool in the inner pocket to the stomach between the second panel and the back wall of the outer pocket, then places a solid trigger guard (such as a piece of light metal or plastic like a credit card) in the outer pocket in between the first panel and the waistband. Alternatively, either pockets may be used for any other personal carry essentials (cash, lip gloss, credit card, IDs, flashlight, business cards, etc.).

It should be understood, of course, that the foregoing relates to exemplary embodiments of the invention and that modifications may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as set forth in the following claims.
