Novel Bag With Detachable and Replaceable Face

Abstract

The subject invention comprises a novel method and style of completely detaching a side or face of bags including purses, cases, luggage and other related items, to grant the user unhindered access to the main section of the bag. This invention employs the use of a detachable zipper to completely detach a side or face of a bag exposing the inside of the main part or body of the bag. This function of being able to completely detach a side or face of a bag, from the main part of the bag, allows the user to be able to change the design, style color scheme and general function of the bag by replacing the detached side or face with another compatible one that has a different design or color. This invention overcomes the short comings of traditional bags.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of Invention

The subject invention relates to an improvement on traditional bags including purses, cases, luggage and other directly related items.

Related Art

Everyone owns a bag of some kind. Bags are useful for carrying, storing, and for the safe keeping of items. This said, traditional bags do not allow for the user to completely remove one side of the bag to have complete access to the inside of the bag.

Bags that have a flop over component, when opened, as in the case of a suitcase or carry-on, the flop usually occupies additional space beside the body of the bag especially when the flop is hard and cannot be folded.

Some bags have a detachable component, where one or more parts of the bag can be fully detached or removed to serve separate functions. However, presently, there is no bag that allows the user to be able to completely detach one side of the bag to expose the inside of the bag and replace the detached side with another of its kind to change the style, design, color scheme and function of the said bag.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION AND ADVANTAGES

The subject invention comprises a novel method and style of completely detaching a side or face of bags including purses, cases, luggage and other related items, to grant the user unhindered access to the main section of the bag. This invention employs the use of a detachable zipper to completely detach a side or face of a bag exposing the inside of the main part or body of the bag. This function of being able to completely detach a side or face of a bag, from the main part of the bag, allows the user to be able to change the design, style color scheme and general function of the bag by replacing the detached side or face with another compatible one that has a different design or color. This invention overcomes the short comings of traditional bags.

FIG. 11 shows the main part of a different type of bag after one side has been removed.

FIG. 12 is similar to FIG. 8. The difference is that in FIG. 12, the main body and compatible detachable face is shown in a completely different type of bag.

FIG. 13 shows one detachable side that corresponds with the main part shown in FIG. 11.

FIG. 14 shows a complete bag after the detachable side as displayed in FIG. 13 has been attached to the main part of the bag as displayed in FIG. 11.

FIG. 15 shows a detachable side similar to that of the one displayed in FIG. 13, but with a different frontal design.

FIG. 16 shows a complete bag after the detachable side as displayed in FIG. 15 has been attached to the main part of the bag displayed in FIG. 11.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

Terminology used herein is solely for the purpose of describing the various embodiments only, and are by no means intended to be limiting of the invention.

The terms “a,” “an” and “the” are intended to encompass both plural and singular forms, unless otherwise indicated based on the context.

As it relates to the figures herein, like numeral indicate like parts.

This subject invention may be made or created with any material suitable for making bags including purses, cases, luggage and other related items.

This invention may also be used to enhance pockets, by enabling the detachment of one side of a pocket to have access to the target or storage area of the pocket and change the design.

FIG. 1 is a basic representation of how the subject invention works. As shown, 3 depicts a complete bag which consists of 2 which represents the main part of the bag, which herein may also be referred to as the body and 1 which is a detachable side, which herein may be referred to as the face.

The equation represented in FIG. 1 shows that when 1 is detached from 3, only the body 2 is left, which is the main part of the bag. It also shows that if another compatible face 1 is attached to 2, the combination then forms another version of 3, a complete bag with a different design.

FIG. 2 shows the detachable zipper 6 when both the body and the face are attached to make a complete bag. The detachable zipper which is similar to, but not limited to those often used in down jackets and coats consists of two halves. One half 5 is attached to the body of the bag and the other 4 is attached to the face of the bag. FIG. 2 also shows insertion pin 9.

Referring now to FIG. 3. An example of the body 2 is shown with half of the detachable zipper 5, which is affixed to the body from connection starting point 7 to 8 the connection ending point of the zipper on the body. 7 and 8 are close together so the face when attached to the body forms a complete and secure unit 3.

Herein this embodiment, the connection starting point and ending point, 7 and 8, together have been positioned on the left sides of both body 2 and detachable face 1; however, as long as the starting connection point 7 and the ending connection point 8 are placed close together, the pair may be positioned compatibly on body 2 and face 1 at alternative points along the perimeter of 2 and 1 to accomplish the goal of attachment, a complete bag 3.

As stated earlier, the subject invention requires the adjoining of components 1 and 2 as shown in FIG. 1. FIG. 4 shows a compatible face 1. It also shows half of the detachable zipper, 4, which is affixed to a compatible face 1. This half of the detachable zipper starts at connection starting point 7 and is affixed to the edge of the face continuing to connection ending point 8.

FIG. 5 shows a complete bag after both halves of the detachable zipper have been zipped together to make 6.

FIG. 6 shows a compatible face 1 in a different frontal design from the one in FIG. 4.

FIG. 7 shows a complete bag after the compatible face 1 has been attached to the body 2.

FIG. 8 shows the two components of a complete bag, 2 and 1 before they are attached.

FIG. 9 shows a close up view of both halves of the detachable zipper 5 and 4. It also displays the point at which the connection between both halves of the detachable zipper 4 and 5 should be made. To connect 4 and 5, the insertion pin 9 at the connecting starting point 7 of detachable zipper half 4 must be slid between the narrow opening 12 in the zipper slider 11.

FIG. 10 shows a close up view of both halves of the detachable zipper 5 and 4. To attach both the body 2 and the face 1 to make a complete bag, the zipper slider 11 must be pulled the full distance around the bag to connection ending point 8, using the zipper pull 13.

The subject invention can appear and be useful in various bags, purses, cases, luggage and other related items. FIGS. 11 to 16 shows the invention in a different style bag from what was previously presented.

FIG. 11 shows an example of the body 2 with half of the detachable zipper 5 which is affixed to the body from connection starting point 7 to 8 the connection ending point of the zipper on the body 2. 7 and 8 are close together so the face when attached to the body forms a complete and secure unit 3.

FIG. 12 shows the two components of a complete bag, 2 and 1, before they are attached.

As stated earlier, the subject invention requires the adjoining of components 1 and 2. FIG. 13 shows a compatible face 1. It also shows the second half of the zipper 4, which is affixed to compatible face 1. This half of the detachable zipper starts at connection starting point 7 and is affixed to the edge of the face continuing to connection ending point 8.

FIG. 14 shows a complete bag after both the body 2 and face 1 displayed in FIG. 12 has been attached. Both halves of the detachable zipper 5 and 4 have been zipped together to create a complete detachable zipper 6.

FIG. 15 shows a compatible face 1 in a different frontal design from the one presented in FIG. 13.

FIG. 16 shows a complete bag after the compatible face 1 shown in FIG. 15 has been attached to the body 2 shown in FIG. 11.

Claims

1. A bag with a detachable face that can be interchanged or replaced with another of its kind to change the bag's function, design, style and color scheme.

2. A bag with a face that can be completely detached, giving full exposure to the main compartment of the bag. The detachment of the face gives the user access to the inside of the main compartment of the bag without interference.
