Resistance Running System

The Resistance Running System may include at least one glove worn on the user's hand with an anchor point on the palm of the glove. This anchor point connects to an elastic band with connecting links on both ends. The opposite end of the elastic band connects to at least one strap worn around a user's leg. The strap is tightened and fixed by the use of a buckle with use of a simple hook and loop fastener. An anchor point on the strap allows at least one end of the elastic band to connect to the strap worn on the user's leg.

1. CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED DOCUMENTS

The present application claims priority to provisional patent application No. 62/735,698 filed on Sep. 24, 2018. Disclosure of which are incorporated herein at least by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to an exercise system, more particularly an elastic band connecting the palm of a glove to a strap on the user's leg that can be used when running.

Discussion of the State of the Art

Traditionally, athletes use dumbbells, cables and other gym equipment to strengthen their upper bodies. These methods of upper body strength training are usually practiced in slow and controlled motions to reduce risk of injury. However, in order for athletes to run faster, they must train their upper bodies to not only be strong but to move as quickly as possible.

The upper body arm swinging motion creates drive and momentum, propelling the athlete forward. However, traditional methods of upper body strength training are not always safe to be practiced at top speeds, especially while running. Elastic bands could offer a safe amount of resistance for training proper upper body speed while running.

U.S. Pat. No. 5,263,916A uses a elastic band to connect a wrist strap to a foot attachment strap. A device like such uses a wrist strap that creates an uncomfortable amount of friction on the user's wrists. The aforementioned patent does not create the ideal angles of resistance to properly train athletes upper body running form.

U.S. Pat. No. 9,925,404B1 uses an elastic band connecting a handle to the side of a user's leg using an apparatus with at least one strap. The use of a handle does not allow the runner to run with an open and relaxed hand, which is proper form. Therefore, a new method for training upper body speed is needed that solves the problems mentioned above.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present disclosure relates to a resistance running system as described herein. In one embodiment of the invention a resistance running system is provided, comprising of at least one glove configured to be worn on the user's hand with an anchor point on the palm of the glove, an elastic band with connecting links on at least one or both ends configured to connect to the palm of the glove and at least one strap configured to be worn around a user's leg. The strap is to be tightened and fixed by the use of a buckle. An anchor point on the strap allows at least one end of the connecting links of the elastic band to connect to the strap worn on the user's leg. The glove's anchor point is fixed in the palm of the glove and connects an elastic band to a strap on the user's leg.

In another aspect of the invention, a method of using a resistance running system is provided by placing at least one strap around the user's leg and wearing at least one glove with the anchor point in the palm of the user's hand and moving the elastic band from a relaxed position to the extended position while running or exercising.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

With reference to FIGS. 1-2, the present invention provides a resistance running system designated by the numeral 100. In the drawings FIGS. 1-2, not all reference numbers are included in each drawing for the sake of clarity. The resistance running system 100 may be used while exercising, running and training the upper body. The invention is described in enabling detail by the following examples, which may represent more than one embodiment of the present invention.

Referring further to FIGS. 1-2, the resistance running system 100 may include at least one glove 101 to be worn on the user's hands as seen in FIG. 2. The resistance running system 100 may further include an anchor point 102 connected to the palm of each glove 101. It will be appreciated that the anchor point 102 and glove 101 design may vary.

Generally, the anchor point 102 on the glove 101 will only require a simple ring attached to the glove 101. This example of an anchor point 102 allows the elastic band 104 to be connected to the glove 101 by use of a simple connecting link 103.

The connecting link 103 generally will require a simple locking mechanism to ensure the elastic band 104 stays connected to the glove 101 when in use. It will be appreciated that the connecting link's 103 locking mechanism design may vary.

In this example of a resistance running system 100, the glove 101 and elastic band 104 attach to a strap 107 worn around the user's leg as seen in FIG. 2. The strap 107 also will require a similar anchor point v2. 105 as the glove's 101 anchor point 102 in order to connect the opposite side of the elastic band 104 to the strap 107. It will be appreciated that the strap 107 and anchor point v2. 105 design may vary.

In this embodiment of a strap 107, it could require a buckle 106 to tighten and attach the strap 107 to the user's leg as seen in FIG. 2. This example of strap 107 which includes the buckle 106 and anchor point v2. 105 may vary in design.

Optionally, at least one strap 107 is adjustable and at least one strap 107 comprises a fastener such as a hook and loop fastener. At least one strap 107 may be for example comprised of fabric.

Having now described the invention in accordance with the requirements of the patent statutes, those skilled in the art will understand how to make changes and modifications to the disclosed embodiments to meet their specific requirements or conditions. Changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention. In addition, the steps of any method described herein may be performed in any suitable order and steps may be performed simultaneously if needed.

Term of degree such as “generally as used herein mean a reasonable amount of deviation of the modified term such that the end result is not significantly changed. For example, these terms can be construed as including a deviation of at least ±5% of the modified term if this deviation would not negate the meaning of the word it modifies.

Claims

1. A resistance running system comprising:

a) at least one glove configured to be worn on the user's hand with an anchor point attached to the palm of the glove.
b) an elastic band with connecting links on at least one or both ends configured to connect to the palm of the glove.
c) at least one strap configured to be worn around a user's leg; tightened and fixed by the use of a buckle and simple hook and loop fastener.
d) an anchor point on the strap that allows at least one end of the connecting links on the elastic band to connect to the strap worn on the users leg.

2. The resistance running system of claim 1, wherein the glove anchor point is fixed in the palm of the glove.

3. The resistance running system of claim 1, wherein the glove connects an elastic band to a strap on the user's leg.

4. A method of using a resistance running system by a user:

a) providing the resistance running system of claim 1;
b) placing at least one strap around the user's leg;
c) wearing at least on glove with the anchor point in the palm of the user's hand; and
d) moving the resistance running system from a relaxed position to the extended position when running or exercising.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the at least one strap is located adjacent to the user's knee.
