Face Shield

Abstract

A face shield, facemask or virus protection system may comprise a transparent shield attached to head pad or foam piece with a fastening system attached to the shield. The fastener system may comprise any type of retention system and may include a Velcro or hook and loop system or an elastic strap system such as a strap with a male buckle and strap with a female buckle. Disclosed embodiments may protect a user from airborne contaminates such as COVID 19 and other viruses. The face shield system is economical to manufacture and assemble.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

(1) Field of the Invention

The invention generally relates to personal protection systems. More particularly, the invention relates to the construction, assembly and use of a face shield, suitable for protection from air borne pathogens, such as COVID 19 and similar viruses and/or disease.

(2) Description of the Related Art

General face shields or face masks are known in the related art, but are unduly complex to assemble and expensive. With the new worldwide trend of pandemics or even plagues, there is a serious shortfall in the art for easy to assemble and economically feasible face shields. Thus, there is an urgent need in the art for the presently disclosed embodiments.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention overcomes shortfalls in the related art by presenting an unobvious and unique combination, configuration and use of relatively simple components that are economically feasible to produce and assemble. The presently disclosed embodiments include a face shield, face mask or helmet that may comprise a transparent protective barrier, having connection voids; a head pad or absorption foam piece and fasteners, wherein the fasteners may comprise a Velcro or hook and loop system, elastic fabric and/or a buckle system. The disclosed embodiments overcome shortfalls in the art by providing a light weight system that will fasten well to a user's head, and won't move so as to not require readjustment during use.

The disclosed embodiments may be single use or multi-use.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

The following detailed description is directed to certain specific embodiments of the invention. However, the invention can be embodied in a multitude of different ways as defined and covered by the claims and their equivalents. In this description, reference is made to the drawings wherein like parts are designated with like numerals throughout.

Unless otherwise noted in this specification or in the claims, all of the terms used in the specification and the claims will have the meanings normally ascribed to these terms by workers in the art.

Referring to FIG. 1, a disclosed face shield 100 or facemask is worn by a person or end user 500.

Referring to FIG. 2, disclosed components are shown in an unassembled state. Such components may include a shield 200 or other transparent barrier which may define a plurality of fastener voids 230, the voids defined by the shield and the voids sometimes used to retain fasteners or a fastener system. A fastener system may comprise any type of retention system and may include a Velcro or hook and loop system or an elastic strap system such as a strap with a male buckle 420 and strap with a female buckle 450. A disclosed system may also comprise a head to shield pad 300 or foam piece which may provide padding and perspiration abortion for an end user.

Referring to FIG. 3, a disclosed embodiment 100 is shown in an assembled state. The buckles are shown unattached. A foam piece is shown in attachment to the face shield.

Referring to FIG. 4, a face shield 300 is shown in attachment to a foam piece 300 and a retention system. The ends of a fastening system are shown to be engaged with voids of the face shield.

Referring to FIG. 5, a strap with a male buckle 435 is shown as well as a strap with a female buckle 450.

Referring to FIG. 6, a disclosed foam piece is shown 300. A foam piece or a head to shield pad may be formed or bent to have a curvature to match the inside curvature of a face shield.

Referring to FIG. 7, a face shield 200 is shown as defining a plurality of fastener voids 230.

Referring to FIG. 8, a disclosed attachment system is shown which may comprise strap sections 410 in attachment to a male buckle 435 or female buckle 455.

Referring to FIG. 9, a foam piece 300 is shown having two ends 350 or distal ends and a body or longitudinal section having a concave side 320 and convex side 340.

The disclosed embodiments overcome shortfalls in the art by sometimes being comprised of four simple parts and comprising simplicity, ease of manufacturing, comporting with manufacture and use in both sterile and non-sterile settings and comporting with the needs of both single use and multiple uses.

• • a) a curved and transparent shield (200) the shield defining a plurality of fastener voids (230);

2. The system of 1 wherein the head to shield pad comprises two distal ends (350) a longitudinal concaved side (320) and longitudinal convex side (340).

3. The system of 1 wherein the fastener system comprises a strap with a male buckle (430) and a strap with a female buckle (450).

Claims

1. A virus protection system (100), the system comprising:

a) a curved and transparent shield (200) the shield defining a plurality of fastener voids (230);

b) the fastener voids in attachment to a fastener system (400);

c) a head to shield pad (300) attached to an inside wall of the shield.

2. The system of claim 1 wherein the head to shield pad comprises two distal ends (350) a longitudinal concaved side (320) and longitudinal convex side (340).

3. The system of claim 1 wherein the fastener system comprises a strap with a male buckle (430) and a strap with a female buckle (450).
