DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The disclosed invention is a device for the smoking of tobacco, marijuana, and/or herbal materials and for the consumption of liquids, such as, but not limited to water, tea, coffee, and more. The smoking device may have a single piece construction, and may be made of a variety of materials. The smoking device is constructed to include a hollow smoke exchange channel or void between the inside wall and outside wall of the cup. The dual wall construction allows a smoke exchange channel to transfer the smoke from an intake hole for the smoke to the output hole to withdraw the smoke. The smoking device has a reservoir for the holding and burning of the materials to be smoked, and an intake hole at the bottom of this reservoir to allow the burning smoke to be extracted, travel through the channel and then to be taken up at the opposite end at the intake hole by the user. The dual wall construction allows the insulation of hot or cold liquids within the cup area from being affected by the environment and protects the user from burning their hands from holding this hot liquid. The device may be made of different type materials, and may have many configurations, for design and/or aesthetic appeal.

The smoking device has an exchange channel built within the body of the device during manufacture. The manufacturing of the smoking device creates a generally airtight channel to allow the smoke to be withdrawn from the reservoir to the intake hole.

This airtight channel is formed by an inner wall and external wall. The inner wall and external wall form a cup or mug, which is insulated, by the two walls and the airspace contained within. This double wall construction allows the liquid within the cup area to maintain heat or cold, and allows the cup to be handled without discomfort or burning the users handed.

FIG. 1. illustrates one embodiment of the smoking device 10. The smoking device 10 comprises a cup or mug 58. The smoking device 10, has a handle, 14, outer wall 20, inner wall 22, reservoir member 16, an intake hole 18 located in the reservoir 50 of the reservoir member 16 which allows the smoking products (not shown) to be loaded in the reservoir 50, and smoked. The smoking device 10, in one embodiment, may be a baked clay item. The mug 58 may be made with a 3D printer of a ceramic material that either air dries or is baked. In other embodiments, the drinking mug may be made from a high temperature non-toxic plastic. The intake hole is small enough to allow smoke to be drawn into it, but still small enough to generally keep the smoking material from falling into the hole. The smoking device 10 has an internal chamber 24 (shown in FIG. 2) to facilitate the consumption of gases and smoke from the reservoir area 16 into the intake hole 18, through the internal chamber and out the outlet hole 19. The outlet hole 19 may be located in the handle 14. There may be an optional hole 26 in the outer wall 20, which operates as a ‘carburetor’, where the user would place their finger over it while smoking, to control the amount of smoke and air mixture in the internal chamber 24. The smoking device has a bottom 27, and a volume 28 that can hold a hot or cold liquid, or food, such as, but not limited to cereal, nuts, raisins, etc. The reservoir member 16 extends out from outer wall 20 of the mug 58 and away from the volume 28. The reservoir member 16 may be shaped like a shallow cup or saucer. The reservoir member 16 is located on the outer wall 20 and extends away from the outer wall 20 and away from the volume 28. The cup or mug comprises a rim 62.

The smoking device 10 may comprise a removable lid 30, which has a removable top 32. Inside the removable lid 30 is a storage volume 34. A user may store the materials to smoke, matches, lighter, rolling papers and the like in the storage volume 34. The lid 30 may attach to the rim 62 or to the mug 58 adjacent to the rim 62 via an interference fit, or via threaded surfaces (not shown). The lid 30 comprises a bottom 38, and a side wall 40.

FIG. 2 shows a partial sectional view of the smoking device 10 with a cutting plane 54. In this view, the internal chamber 24 is shown bordered by the outer wall 20 (shown in dashed line in the interior of smoking device where cut by the cutting plane 54) and the inner wall 22 (shown by the dot dot dashed line in the interior of smoking device where cut by the cutting plane 54). In this view, it can be seen that the intake hole 18 is in fluid communication with the outlet hole 19 via the internal chamber 24. The optional carburetor 26 is also in fluid communication with the intake hole 18 and outlet hole 19 via the internal chamber 24. The internal chamber 24 is sealed from the ambient atmosphere, except at the intake hole 18, outlet hole 19, and the optional carburetor 26.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the invention. The smoking device 10 comprises a mug or a cup 58. The mug 58 may have a shape, such as an animal, or sports mascot, or any other suitable design. FIG. 3 shows the mug 58 with an elephant shape. The mug 58 may be baked clay, which allows the formation of the internal chamber, not shown, to allow the exchange of gases and smoke from the reservoir 50 in the reservoir member 16 to the intake hole 18 (not visible) through the internal chamber and out the outlet hole 19. The carburetor 26 may be located in the trunk of the elephant. The mug 58 may have four feet 64 to hold the mug 58 on a level surface.

FIG. 4 is a top view of the smoking device 10 from FIG. 3. The smoking device has a handle 14, reservoir member 16, reservoir 50, intake hole 18, and outlet hole 19.

FIG. 5 is a front view of the smoking device 10.

FIG. 6 shows another embodiment of the smoking device 10. In this embodiment, the mug 58 may have a mouthpiece 68 with the outlet hole 19 located at the end of the mouthpiece 68. The mouthpiece 68 may have a generally conical shape, or cylindrical shape, or any other suitable shape. The internal chamber 24 (not visible in this view) will extend into the interior of the mouthpiece 68, and the outlet hole 19 is in fluid communication with the internal chamber 24. The handle 14 may be omitted from this embodiment.

FIG. 7 shows another embodiment of the smoking device 10. In this embodiment, the rim 62 of the mug 58 may have the outlet hole 19 located on it. The outlet hole 19 is in fluid communication with the internal chamber 24. The handle 14 may be omitted from this embodiment.

The disclosed smoking device has many advantages. The disclosed smoking device can be used simultaneously as a drinking device, and a device to smoke various products. The disclosed smoking device is aesthetically pleasing, and may have fun shapes such as animal shapes; sports or college mascots; mythical creatures such as but not limited to unicorns, Pegasus, elves; famous characters, etc. The smoking device does not appear at first glance to be a smoking device, but rather looks like a stylized drinking cup or mug, thus preventing embarrassment to smokers. The smoking device has a lid that allows one to store smoking products, rolling papers, lighter, matches, etc.

It should be noted that the terms “first”, “second”, and “third”, and the like may be used herein to modify elements performing similar and/or analogous functions. These modifiers do not imply a spatial, sequential, or hierarchical order to the modified elements unless specifically stated.

While the disclosure has been described with reference to several embodiments, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that various changes may be made and equivalents may be substituted for elements thereof without departing from the scope of the disclosure. In addition, many modifications may be made to adapt a particular situation or material to the teachings of the disclosure without departing from the essential scope thereof. Therefore, it is intended that the disclosure not be limited to the particular embodiments disclosed as the best mode contemplated for carrying out this disclosure, but that the disclosure will include all embodiments falling within the scope of the appended claims.
