Description
THE RELATED ART

The invention is a drum system designed for use in textile finishing operations for the purposes of eliminating the tension of the processed fabric, softening, correction of grains, increasing frictional resistance, and eliminating production dust.

The invention particularly relates to a drum system comprising a plurality of horizontal bars arranged in certain intervals determined according to process requirements and a helical expander wrap surrounding said horizontal bars.

THE PRIOR ART

Up until today, drums used in textile finishing machines generally have circular or elliptical cross-sectioned structures. Circular cross-sectioned systems mostly make use of the continuity of rotational motion and perform the function of expanding the fabric. However, since they do not have strike effect, their area of usage is only limited to expanding the width of the fabric. In the patent with application No. 2008/04495, even though an elliptical sectioned drum is used instead of a circular sectioned one, it is experienced that, since the planar and full surface around the section cannot perform effective beating on the fabrics due to lubricity and the fabric couldn't be beaten adequately; the expected reaction couldn't be obtained. Drums called as beater cylinders and subjecting the fabric only to beating motion are also found. Said systems cannot perform the expanding activities. Also, nowadays, structures that provide volume and touch to the fabric by applying distortion and bulking on the fabric via mechanical and pneumatic mechanisms are also found. However, these mechanisms do not provide an expanding effect on the fabric and causes formation of faults at the folding parts of the processed fabric.

It is also not possible with the prior art methods to ensure teaselling of piles and correcting the pile directions in fabrics that comprise piles. At the same time, the prior art structures are also not useful in terms of strength, and it is not possible to achieve long drum lengths and high operating speeds required for processing wide products.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a drum mechanism developed for eliminating the above said drawbacks and bringing new technical advantages to the relevant technical field.

The main purpose of the invention is to softening the tension of textile products, giving volume by fluffing up, cleaning dusts due to production, and performing the striking operation with high efficiency, which cannot be performed with adequate efficiency in the prior art systems. Instead of the lubricious planar structure found at the section in the prior art, horizontal bars having adjusted intervals between thereof according to process requirements cause extra bending among the bars by giving multiple linear strikes to the fabric, and thus provide a deeper operation on the fabric. In this way, it increases the beating effect on the fabric made by the drum. This extra beating effect generated eliminates the tensions caused by the weaving and knitting process in fabric construction and provides the product with a permanent and superior softness.

Another purpose of the invention is to ensure teaselling of piles and correcting the pile directions in fabrics that comprise piles. The directing effect of the plurality of horizontal linear strikes in pile extension direction or against this direction ensures correcting the directions of the piles and also provides them with a permanently vertical or horizontal position. Moreover, corrected piles provide the weaving or printing patterns on the product with a clearer appearance.

Another purpose of the invention is to meet the demand for the long drum size required in processing of wide products and eliminate the drawbacks occurring due to short drum size. The use of a plurality of horizontal bars instead of a planar structure around the circular or elliptical section allows increasing the drum strength and made it possible to produce longer drums to process wider products. At the same time, it also allows reaching high operating speeds where the old systems are not adequate.

One of the significant advantages of the invention is to increase the frictional resistance of the products when the extra softness, bulking up and weaving or knitting construction improvements are combined.

In order to achieve the above said purposes which would be understood better with the below given detailed description, the invention relates to a drum to be used in textile finishing operations, comprising a body and a helical wrap surrounding the body at certain intervals. Said drum comprises a plurality of bars forming said body and preferably providing an elliptical or polygonal geometry by being arranged at certain intervals determined according to the requirements of the process.

Another preferred embodiment of the invention comprises fixing plates on which said bars of the body are connected.

In another preferred embodiment of the invention, it comprises at least one shaft providing rotational motion by transferring the motion it receives from a drive unit to the body.

For better understanding of the embodiment of the present invention and its advantages with its additional components, it should be evaluated together with below described figures.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

In this detailed description, the novelty according to the invention is only disclosed for better understanding of the subject without forming any limiting effect.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the drum (10) according to the invention. Accordingly, the drum (10) basically comprises a body (11), horizontal bars (112) forming said body (11) and preferably arranged at intervals along an elliptical or polygonal geometry, and a helical expanding wrap (13) surrounding said horizontal bars (112). Along the body (11), fixing plates (111) are found where the horizontal bars (112) are mounted at certain intervals. In order to ensure the drive and rotational motion of the drum (10), shafts (12) are found, which transmits the motion it takes from a drive unit to the drum (10).

The drum (10) performs rotational motion by means of the shafts (12) found at the center and at both sides of the body (11). A plurality of horizontal bars (112) are connected to fixing plates (111) in a way that they can provide an elliptical or polygonal geometry and have a distance between thereof determined according to the requirements of the preferably.

The horizontal bars (112) arranged at intervals so as to form an elliptical or polygonal-formed section can provide multiple horizontal linear strikes on the fabric and can impact deeper on the fabric. At the same time, as a result of the rotation of the drum (10), an increased beating effect is provided onto the fabric by applying extra bending to the fabric among the bars (112). This extra beating effect is obtained more at the bars (112) that are found at the opposing narrow sides of the elliptical geometry structure.

Said expanding wrap (13) surrounds the body (11) from the middle part of the body (11) to both sides in the opposite direction of the rotation. While the horizontal bars (112) apply beating on the fabric, said helical expanding wrap (13) expands the fabric and keeps it open continuously during beating.

The drum (10) according to the invention can be used in tasks such as tension elimination, softening, providing volume by bulking/puffing up, correcting weaving, knitting constructions and pile directions (grains), cleaning dusts caused due to material and production method, and increasing frictional resistance of woven or knitted, plain or piled fabrics, carpets or textile products produced by methods other than weaving or knitting in machines that perform textile finishing, by having the expanding and beating functions together.
