Abstract

A garment shielding device for preventing transfer of a substance from a head of a user to an article of clothing includes a shell that defines an interior space. The shell is flexible and has a bottom that is open. The bottom is configured to insert a head of a user into the interior space so that a perimeter of the bottom is positioned below a neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts a top of the shell. The shell is configured to prevent transfer of a substance, such as makeup, from the head of the user to an article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user.

The disclosure and prior art relate to shielding devices and more particularly pertain to a new shielding device for preventing transfer of a substance from a head of a user to an article of clothing.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a shell that defines an interior space. The shell is flexible and has a bottom that is open. The bottom is configured to insert a head of a user into the interior space so that a perimeter of the bottom is positioned below a neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts a top of the shell. The shell is configured to prevent transfer of a substance, such as makeup, from the head of the user to an article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new shielding device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the garment shielding device 10 generally comprises a shell 12 that defines an interior space 14. The shell 12 is flexible and has a bottom 16 that is open. The bottom 16 is configured to insert a head of a user into the interior space 14 so that a perimeter 18 of the bottom 16 is positioned below a neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts a top 20 of the shell 12. The shell 12 is configured to prevent transfer of a substance, such as makeup, from the head of the user to an article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user.

The device 10 is useful in situations where the user has makeup applied to a face of the user and wishes to change outfits. With the shell 12 positioned over the head of the user, and preferably tucked beneath a neckline of a first article of clothing that is positioned on a torso of the user, the first article of clothing can be removed over the head of the user with the shell 12 being configured to prevent transfer of the makeup to the first article of clothing. By reversing the steps, a second article of clothing may be donned by the user without transfer of the makeup to the second article of clothing.

Another purpose of the device 10 is to keep hair of the user in place while donning or removing an article of clothing over the head of the user. The device 10 thus reduces or eliminates a need to touch up the hair of the user after changing outfits.

The shell 12 comprises fabric so that the shell 12 is flexible. The shell 12 comprises at least one of silk, cotton, wool, linen, rayon, cellulose acetate, polyester, and nylon.

A slit 22 is positioned in the shell 12. The slit 22 is U-shaped and defines an opening 24 and a flap 26 that extends from the shell 12 adjacent to an upper edge 28 of the opening 24. The opening 24 is configured to position a face of the user when the head of the user is inserted through the bottom 16 into the interior space 14. The flap 26 is positioned to selectively close the opening 24.

The opening 24 and the flap 26 widen the scope of potential uses of the device 10. For instance, after removing a first article of clothing and donning a second article of clothing, the flap 26 is configured to be positioned on the top 20 of the shell 12 so that the user can see through the opening 24. This allows the user to evaluate the second article of clothing for suitability prior to removing the shell 12. Additionally, with the flap 26 positioned on the top 20 of the shell 12, the user can perform other tasks, such as applying and touching up makeup through the opening 24, as shown in FIG. 4. The shell 12, being positioned over shoulders of the user, helps to prevent makeup from contacting the article of clothing positioned on the torso of the user while applying and touching up makeup through the opening 24.

In use, the head of the user is inserted through the bottom 16 of the shell 12 into the interior space 14. The perimeter 18 of the bottom 16 is positioned below the neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts the top 20 of the shell 12. The shell 12 prevents transfer of the substance from the head of the user to the article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the elements is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A garment shielding device comprising a shell defining an interior space, the shell being flexible, the shell having a bottom, the bottom being open wherein the bottom is configured for inserting a head of a user into the interior space such that a perimeter of the bottom is positioned below a neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts a top of the shell wherein the shell is configured for preventing transfer of a substance from the head of the user to an article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user.

2. The device of claim 1, further including the shell comprising fabric.

3. The device of claim 2, further including the shell comprising at least one of silk, cotton, wool, linen, rayon, cellulose acetate, polyester, and nylon.

4. The device of claim 1, further including a slit positioned in the shell, the slit being U-shaped such that the slit defines an opening and a flap extending from the shell adjacent to an upper edge of the opening wherein the opening is configured for positioning a face of the user when the head of the user is inserted through the bottom into the interior space and wherein the flap is positioned for selectively closing the opening.

5. A garment shielding device comprising:

a shell defining an interior space, the shell being flexible, the shell having a bottom, the bottom being open wherein the bottom is configured for inserting a head of a user into the interior space such that a perimeter of the bottom is positioned below a neckline of the user when the head of the user abuts a top of the shell wherein the shell is configured for preventing transfer of a substance from the head of the user to an article of clothing as the user selectively dons and removes the article of clothing over the head of the user, the shell comprising fabric, the shell comprising at least one of silk, cotton, wool, linen, rayon, cellulose acetate, polyester, and nylon; and

a slit positioned in the shell, the slit being U-shaped such that the slit defines an opening and a flap extending from the shell adjacent to an upper edge of the opening wherein the opening is configured for positioning a face of the user when the head of the user is inserted through the bottom into the interior space and wherein the flap is positioned for selectively closing the opening.
