QUICK RELEASE DEVICE FOR HEADREST OF OFFICE CHAIR

A device for connecting a headrest to a back is disclosed. The device includes a headrest assembly and a fixing seat. The headrest assembly includes a headrest, a support and an adjusting seat. The headrest is pivotedly connected to the support. The support is slidably connected to the adjusting seat. An inner base of the adjusting seat has two rails. Each rail is extended with an inserting wing. Tops of the rails are formed with a blocker. A wall is formed between the rails. The fixing seat has a connecting side facing the adjusting seat. The connecting side has a recess with a closed bottom edge. Two opposite edges of the recess is formed with troughs for receiving the inserting wings. A flexible arm is formed between the two troughs. The flexible arm is stopped by the wall.

TECHNICAL FIELD

The invention relates to chairs, particularly to headrests of office chairs.

RELATED ART

Some office chairs are provided with a headrest for more comfortable sitting. However, different users' bodies are various, headrests should be adjustable to satisfy various requirements. On the other hand, to shrink packing volume of a chair, a headrest and a back are usually disassembled to be packed. That is, a user needs to assemble such a headrest to a back. Conventional headrests are fastened by screws. Proper tools are needed. For some users, this is not easy. It is an issue to be solved.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An object of the invention is to provide a quick release device for a headrest of an office chair, which can rapidly and firmly assemble or disassemble a headrest to a back.

To accomplish the above object, the invention provides a device for connecting a headrest to a back. The device includes a headrest assembly and a fixing seat. The headrest assembly includes a headrest, a support and an adjusting seat. The headrest is pivotedly connected to the support. The support is slidably connected to the adjusting seat. An inner base of the adjusting seat has two rails. Each rail is extended with an inserting wing. Tops of the rails are formed with a blocker. A wall is formed between the rails. The fixing seat has a connecting side facing the adjusting seat. The connecting side has a recess with a closed bottom edge. Two opposite edges of the recess is formed with troughs for receiving the inserting wings. A flexible arm is formed between the two troughs. The flexible arm is stopped by the wall.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The quick release device for a headrest of office chair of the invention includes a headrest assembly 10 and a fixing seat 20. The headrest assembly 10 includes a headrest 11, a support 12 and an adjusting seat 13. The headrest 11 is pivotedly connected to the support 12. The support 12 is slidably connected to the adjusting seat 13. An inner base 131 of the adjusting seat 13 is formed with two parallel vertical rails 1310. Each of the two rails 1310 is outward extended with an inserting wing 1311. Tops of the two rails 1310 are formed with a horizontal blocker 1312 at a top side of the inner base 131. A width of the blocker 1312 is greater than an overall width of the two rails 1310. A middle of the blocker 1312 is formed with a notch 1313. A wall 1314 with a trapezoidal cross-section is formed between the two rails 1310. A top side of the wall 1314 is a flat surface 1315 which is flush with those of the rails 1310.

The fixing seat 20 has a connecting side 21 facing the adjusting seat 13. The connecting side has a recess 22 with a closed bottom edge. Each of two opposite edges of the recess 22 is formed with a trough 23 for slidably receiving the inserting wings 1311 of the two rails 1310. The fixing seat 20 is formed with two fixing holes 24 for being fixed onto a chairback 30. In this embodiment, the fixing holes 24 are located at junctions between the recess 22 and two side bars 25. The fixing hole 24 is formed with a step 241. A flexible arm 26 which downward aslant protrudes toward the adjusting seat 13 is formed between the two fixing holes 24. Two lateral sides and a bottom side of the flexible arm 26 are formed with a U-shaped slot 261 for providing flexibility to the flexible arm 26. The back of the flexible arm 26 is formed with an indent 262 to shrink thickness of the flexible arm 26. The flexible arm 26 can be stopped by the wall 1314 to form positioning.

When the adjusting seat 13 is assembled with the fixing seat 20 through the inner base 131, the inserting wings 1311 are separately inserted into the troughs 23 of the fixing seat 20. The closed bottom edge of the recess 22 and the blocker 1312 of the inner base 131 form a bottom stopper and a top stopper, respectively.

Please refer to FIG. 5, which shows the inner base 131 and the fixing seat 20 in a status of the flexible arm 26 being not stopped by the wall 1314. When the inner base 131 is being pressed down, the wall 1314 will press the flexible arm 26 to make it retracted and the wall 1314 will pass the flexible arm 26. When the wall 1314 has passed the flexible arm 26, the flexible arm 26 will restore to be stopped by the wall 1314 as shown in FIG. 6. When disassembling, a rod can be inserted into the notch 1313 to press the flexible arm 26 to release the holding status.

It is noted that the fixing seat 20 is mounted on a chairback 30 in advance, all a user needs to do for fixing the headrest assembly 10 is to insert the adjusting seat 13 into the fixing seat 20. This requires no tools, so it can be rapid and convenient.

It will be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the above embodiment has been described by way of example only and not in any limitative sense, and that various alterations and modifications are possible without departure from the scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.

Claims

1. A quick release device for an office chair, comprising:

a headrest assembly, comprising a headrest, a support and an adjusting seat, wherein the headrest is pivotedly connected to the support, the support is slidably connected to the adjusting seat, an inner base of the adjusting seat is formed with two parallel vertical rails, each of the two rails is outward extended with an inserting wing, tops of the two rails are formed with a horizontal blocker at a top side of the inner base, a width of the blocker is greater than an overall width of the two rails, a middle of the blocker is formed with a notch, a wall with a trapezoidal cross-section is formed between the two rails; and
a fixing seat, having a connecting side facing the adjusting seat, the connecting side having a recess with a closed bottom edge, each of two opposite edges of the recess being formed with a trough for receiving the inserting wings of the two rails, a flexible arm which aslant protrudes toward the adjusting seat being formed between the two troughs, and the flexible arm being stopped by the wall.

2. The quick release device of claim 1, wherein the fixing seat is formed with two fixing holes for being fixed onto a chairback.

3. The quick release device of claim 2, wherein the fixing holes are located at junctions between the recess and two side bars of the recess.

4. The quick release device of claim 1, wherein a back of the flexible arm is formed with an indent.

5. The quick release device of claim 1, wherein a top side of the wall is a flat surface which is flush with those of the rails, and the flexible arm is pressed by the wall when the wall is being slid to pass the flexible arm.

6. The quick release device of claim 1, wherein a periphery of the flexible arm is formed with a U-shaped slot.
