Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The invention herein provides a device for using an article for smoking. More particularly, the device can fit articles of smoking of various sizes in diameter.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It has often been said that mankind's introduction to fire is the most important event of his existence on Earth. When mankind discovered myriad ways by which to create and later to control fire, he moved from being mere animal and became master of the Earth itself.

The day that mankind to harness fire is the same day that mankind began his long, winding path from ranging the free earth in search of his food to the domestication of animals and farming, thereby leading to fixed civilizations. When man established permanent or semi-permanent residence by useful bodies of water, he then applied his voluminous knowledge of plant life and its attributes to fire by smoking.

The pipe and all of its analogous structures are thousands of years old. Over the course of time, any of a number of devices for smoking were developed. In modern times, devices for various smoking articles are legion.

Cigarette manufacturers mass produce the modern cigarettes. Such cigarettes are configured to burn in a manner in which the diameters thereof change little or not all as they burn. In the past when smokers rolled their own cigarettes, there was no uniformity of diameter and no way to prevent diameter changes in a cigarette so rolled.

Tobacco is not the only substance of choice that modern smokers choose. Marijuana, either for recreational or medical use, is also widely used particularly by people who roll their own non-tobacco based cigarettes. As such, these items are created in varying diameter and when smoked vary further in diameter. Given such variance, it would be helpful and useful to extend and/or maintain the life of such cigarettes.

What is needed therefore is a way to maintain and/or advance the life of a rolled cigarette. This is especially true for non-tobacco filled cigarettes that vary in diameter from inception and change in diameter during use. The embodiments discussed and closed herein provide usable solutions to this problem.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the invention provides a device for using an article for smoking. It comprises a fitting member having a smoking portion and a grasping portion positioned oppositely to the grasping portion. It also has a securing member fitted about the fitting member for securing the article for smoking within grasping portion of the fitting member.

The grasping portion is extendable. It may also be flexible. The grasping portion grasps one end of the article for smoking. The grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking of diverse sizes.

In practice, the device's grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 1 mm. In another embodiment herein, the grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 3 mm. In yet another embodiment herein, the grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 5 mm. The grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 7 mm. In another embodiment herein, the grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 10 mm.

In an alternative embodiment herein, the fitting member and the securing member are two detachable, interconnecting parts. Preferably, the fitting member and the securing member form one non-detachable part.

An alternative embodiment for a device herein for using an article for smoking comprises a fitting member having a smoking portion and a grasping portion positioned oppositely to the grasping portion. A securing member fits about said fitting member for securing said article for smoking within grasping portion of said fitting member, said fitting member and said securing member form one non-detachable part.

In one embodiment herein, the grasping portion is extendable. It may also be flexible. In practice, the grasping portion grasps one end of the article for smoking. The grasping portion is constructed to grasp an article for smoking of diverse sizes. The grasping portion can grasp an article for smoking having a diameter ranging from about 1 mm to about 10 mm.

The various embodiments of the device herein may be substantially made of one or more kinds of plastics. Alternatively, the device herein may substantially be made of one or more kinds of metal. Of course, a mixture of both plastics and/or metal is also possible.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

The various exemplary embodiments of the present invention, which will become more apparent as the description proceeds, are described in the following detailed description in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which:

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the device.

FIG. 2 is a planar view of the device of FIG. 1.

FIG. 3 is a planar view of the device of FIG. 1 showing the securing member removed from the fitting member.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

By the term “article for smoking” it is meant a machine rolled or hand-rolled cigarette that holds tobacco or a rolled cigarette containing marijuana.

The invention provides a device for using an article for smoking. FIG. 1 shows smoking device 10. Smoking device 10 comprises two main parts: fitting member 20 and securing member 30. In one embodiment herein, fitting member 20 and securing member 30 are separable. This ability to separate is shown in FIG. 3.

Fitting member 20 comprises grasping portion 26. Grasping portion 26 comprises slits and spaces. Grasping portion 26 may be extendable. It is also preferably flexible. In practice, grasping portion 26 grasps one end of an article for smoking. Grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking of diverse sizes.

In practice, smoking device 10's grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 1 mm. In another embodiment herein, grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 3 mm. In yet another embodiment herein, grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 5 mm. Also, grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 7 mm. In another embodiment herein, grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having at least a diameter of 10 mm.

FIG. 2 shows smoking device 10 in a planar view. As shown, securing member 30 is sheathed upon fitting member 20. Also shown is holding portion 34 on securing member 30. A user (i.e., a smoker) will grasp smoking device 10 about holding portion 34. Securing member 30 fits snugly onto fitting member 20 but is readily removable with normal hand pressure applied.

FIG. 3 provides a planar view of securing member 30 separated from fitting member 20. This is the embodiment in which smoking device 10 comprises two separable portions. Fitting member 20 is shown having three distinct sections: Smoking member 22, middle portion 24 and grasping portion 26.

Smoking portion 22 is the part of smoking device 10 contoured for receipt of a user's lips. It is the portion at which a user draws air through smoking device 10 to smoke. It is curved to fully receive a user's lips while for smoking. Grasping portion 26 is the portion responsible for receiving a cigarette (tobacco), a rolled cigarette for either tobacco or marijuana, or a smaller sized cigar.

Grasping portion 26 comprises two main features: slits 27 and spaces 28. Slits 27 are designed to be flexible, having the ability to move inwardly and outwardly. Spaces 28 enable a greater freedom of motion of slits 27 thereby enabling items for smoking of various diameters to be fit within grasping portion 26. To be clear, the diameter of grasping portion 26 is expandable due to the flexibility of slits 27 operating in concert with spaces 28.

In one embodiment herein, grasping portion 26 is extendable. It may also be flexible. In practice, grasping portion 26 grasps one end of the article for smoking. grasping portion 26 is constructed to grasp an article for smoking of diverse sizes and to enclose about them, holding an article for smoking firmly in place. Grasping portion 26 can grasp an article for smoking having a diameter ranging from about 1 mm to about 10 mm.

The various embodiments of the device herein may be substantially made of one or more kinds of plastics. Alternatively, the device herein may substantially be made of one or more kinds of metal. Of course, a mixture of both plastics and/or metal is also possible.

This written description uses examples to disclose the invention, including the best mode, and also to enable any person skilled in the art to make and use the invention. The patentable scope of the invention is defined by the claims, and may include other examples that occur to those skilled in the art. Such other examples are intended to be within the scope of the claims if they have structural elements that do not differ from the literal language of the claims, or if they include equivalent structural elements with insubstantial differences from the literal language of the claims.
