A moisture wicking bib assembly for wearing on a person for inhibiting rash or skin breakdown includes a bib that is worn on an person to cover a torso of the person. The bib has a first layer is comprised of a moisture wicking material to draw moisture inwardly therein. The bib has a second layer is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to absorb moisture is wicked by the first layer. The bib has a third layer is comprised of a fluid impermeable material. An adhesive layer is coupled to the bib to adhere to the person's torso.

The disclosure and prior art relates to bib devices and more particularly pertains to a new bib device for wearing on a person for inhibiting rash and skin breakdown.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a bib that is worn on a person to cover a torso of the person. The bib has a first layer is comprised of a moisture wicking material to draw moisture inwardly therein. The bib has a second layer is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to absorb moisture is wicked by the first layer. The bib has a third layer is comprised of a fluid impermeable material. An adhesive layer is coupled to the bib to adhere to the person's torso.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new bib device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the moisture wicking bib assembly 10 generally comprises a bib 12 that is worn on a person 13 to cover a torso 15 of the person 13. The bib 12 has a first layer 14 that is comprised of a moisture wicking material to draw moisture inwardly therein. The moisture wicking material may include, but not be limited to, synthetic fibers such as polyester or nylon, an organic fiber such as wool or the like, or any other hydrophobic material. The bib 12 has a second layer 16 that is comprised of a fluid absorbent material to absorb moisture wicked by the first layer 14. The fluid absorbing material may include, but not be limited to, a superabsorbent polymer or other type of fluid absorbing material. The bib 12 has a third layer 18 that is comprised of a fluid impermeable material to inhibit being penetrated by moisture has been absorbed by the second layer 16. The fluid impermeable material may include, but not be limited to, plastic, rubber or any other deformable material that resists being penetrated by fluids.

The first layer 14 has a front surface 20 and a back surface 22, and the front surface 20 is exposed when the bib 12 is worn on the person 13 to contact food, liquids and bodily secretions spilled by the person 13. The person wearing the bib 12 may be a disabled person that does not have control over saliva the may drool from the person's mouth. The second layer 16 has a forward surface 24 and a rearward surface 26. The forward surface 24 is bonded to the back surface 22 of the first layer 14 such that the second layer 16 is in fluid communication with the first layer 14. The third layer 18 has a frontmost surface 28 and a rearmost surface 30, and the frontmost surface 28 is bonded to the rearward surface 26 of the second layer 16. The third layer 18 is positioned adjacent to the person's torso 15 when the bib 12 is worn to keep the person's torso 15 dry.

The bib 12 has a lower edge 32 and an upper edge 34, and the upper edge 34 has a concavely arcuate portion 36 with respect to the lower edge 32. The upper edge 34 defines a neck space 38 between a pair of horns 40 each extending upwardly from the bib 12. Moreover, the neck space 38 accommodates a neck 42 of the person 13.

Additionally, each of the horns 40 can be wrapped around the neck 42 of the person 13 for retaining the bib 12 on the person's torso 15.

An adhesive layer 44 is provided and the adhesive layer 44 is coupled to the bib 12 to adhere to the person's torso 15. The adhesive layer 44 has a front side 46 and a back side 48, and the front side 46 of the adhesive layer 44 is bonded to the rearmost surface 30 of the third layer 18 of the bib 12. In this way the back side 48 of the adhesive layer 44 can adhere to the person's torso 15. The adhesive layer 44 may comprise a hypo-allergenic, single use adhesive that is approved for use on human skin or that can adhere to clothing.

A pocket 50 may be provided and the pocket may be coupled to the bib 12. The pocket 50 may have an opening 52 that is directed upwardly when the bib 12 is worn on the person 13. In this way the opening 52 may capture dropped food particles that result from feeding the person 13. The pocket 50 may be positioned on the front surface 20 of the first layer 14 and the pocket 50 may extends laterally across a full width of the first layer 14. The opening 52 may be horizontally oriented on the first layer 14 and the opening 52 may be spaced downwardly from the neck space 38 in the bib 12.

In an alternative embodiment 54 as is most clearly shown in FIG. 4, a pouch 56 is positioned on the front surface 20 of the first layer 14. The pouch 56 has an opening 58 that is aligned with a bounding edge 60 of the neck space 38. A pad 62 is insertable into the pouch 56 and the pad 62 is comprised of a moisture wicking material to wick moisture from spilled drink, food or bodily secretions therein. A pair mating members 64 is provided and each of the mating members 64 is positioned on a respective one of the horns 40. The mating members 64 are matable to each other for retaining the horns 40 in a closed loop around the person's neck 42.

In an alternative embodiment 66 as shown in FIG. 5, a kerchief 68 is provided that has a top edge 70, a front surface 72 and a back surface 74. The top edge 70 has an opening 76 extending between the front surface 72 and back surface 74 to define a pouch 78 between the front surface 72 and that back surface 74. The kerchief 68 is wearable around the neck 42 of the person 13 such that the pouch 78 is positioned on the person's torso 15 beneath the person's mouth. Continuing in the alternative embodiment 66 as shown in FIG. 5, a pad 80 is insertable into the pouch 78. The pad 80 is comprised of a moisture wicking material to wick moisture from spilled drink, food or bodily secretions therein.

In an alternative embodiment 82 as shown in FIG. 6, a vest 84 is provided and the vest 84 is comprised of a moisture wicking material to wick moisture from spilled drink or food. The vest 84 is wearable on a person 13 when moisture could contact the person's skin. The vest 84 has a first lateral side 86 and a second lateral side 88. A first mating member 90 is coupled to the first lateral side 86 of the vest 84. The first mating member 90 is positionable in an open position for vertically splitting the first lateral side 86. The first mating member 90 is positionable in a closed position for closing the first lateral side 86. A second mating member 92 is coupled to the second lateral side 88 of the vest 84. The second mating member 92 is positionable in an open position for vertically splitting the second lateral side 88. Additionally, the second mating member 92 is positionable in a closed position for closing the second lateral side 88.

In use, the bib 12 is positioned on the person's torso 15 thereby facilitating the adhesive layer 44 to adhere to clothing the person 13 is wearing. The first layer 14 of the bib 12 wicks moisture from bodily fluids, such as saliva, into the second layer 16 for absorption. The third layer 18 of the bib 12 inhibits the absorbed moisture from contacting the person 13's clothing. The bib 12 is removed from the person 13 once the bib 12 becomes soiled or fully soaked with moisture and the bib 12 is disposed of in a garbage receptacle or the like.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A moisture wicking bib assembly being configured to be worn on a person for absorbing moisture and containing dropped food, said assembly comprising:

a bib being worn on an person wherein said bib is configured to cover a torso of the person, said bib having a first layer being comprised of a moisture wicking material wherein said first layer is configured to draw moisture inwardly therein, said bib having a second layer being comprised of a fluid absorbent material wherein said middle layer is configured to absorb moisture being wicked by said first layer, said bib having a third layer being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said third layer is configured to inhibit being penetrated by moisture having been absorbed by said second layer; and
an adhesive layer being coupled to said bib wherein said adhesive layer is configured to adhere to the person's torso.

2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said first layer has a front surface and a back surface, said front surface being exposed when said bib is worn on the person wherein said first layer is configured to contact food and liquids spilled by the person.

3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said second layer has a forward surface and a rearward surface, said forward surface being bonded to said back surface of said first layer such that said second layer is in fluid communication with said first layer.

4. The assembly according to claim 3, wherein said third layer has a frontmost surface and a rearmost surface, said frontmost surface being bonded to said rearward surface of said second layer, said third layer being positioned adjacent to the person's torso when said bib is worn wherein said third layer is configured to keep the person's torso dry.

5. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said bib has a lower edge and an upper edge, said upper edge having a concavely arcuate portion with respect to said lower edge to define a neck space between a pair of horns each extending upwardly from said bib wherein said neck space is configured to accommodate a neck of the person, wherein each of said horns is configured to be wrapped around the neck of the person for retaining said bib on the person's torso.

6. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein said adhesive layer has a front side and a back side, said front side of said adhesive layer being bonded to said rearmost surface of said third layer of said bib wherein said back side of said adhesive layer is configured to adhere to the person's torso.

7. A moisture wicking bib assembly being configured to be worn on an person for absorbing moisture and containing dropped food, said assembly comprising:

a bib being worn on an person wherein said bib is configured to cover a torso of the person, said bib having a first layer being comprised of a moisture wicking material wherein said first layer is configured to draw moisture inwardly therein, said bib having a second layer being comprised of a fluid absorbent material wherein said middle layer is configured to absorb moisture being wicked by said first layer, said bib having a third layer being comprised of a fluid impermeable material wherein said third layer is configured to inhibit being penetrated by moisture having been absorbed by said second layer, said first layer having a front surface and a back surface, said front surface being exposed when said bib is worn on the person wherein said first layer is configured to contact fluids from the person, said second layer having a forward surface and a rearward surface, said forward surface being bonded to said back surface of said first layer such that said second layer is in fluid communication with said first layer, said third layer having a frontmost surface and a rearmost surface, said frontmost surface being bonded to said rearward surface of said second layer, said third layer being positioned adjacent to the person's torso when said bib is worn wherein said third layer is configured to keep the person's torso dry, said bib having a lower edge and an upper edge, said upper edge having a concavely arcuate portion with respect to said lower edge to define a neck space between a pair of horns each extending upwardly from said bib wherein said neck space is configured to accommodate a neck of the person, wherein each of said horns is configured to be wrapped around the neck of the person for retaining said bib on the person's torso; and
an adhesive layer being coupled to said bib wherein said adhesive layer is configured to adhere to the person's torso, said adhesive layer having a front side and a back side, said front side of said adhesive layer being bonded to said rearmost surface of said third layer of said bib wherein said back side of said adhesive layer is configured to adhere to the person's torso.

8. The assembly according to claim 7, further comprising a pocket being coupled to said bib, said pocket having an opening being directed upwardly when said bib is worn on the person wherein said opening is configured to capture dropped food particles, said pocket being positioned on said front surface of said first layer having said pocket extending laterally across a full width of said first layer, said opening being horizontally oriented on said first layer, said opening being spaced downwardly from said neck space in the bib.

9. The assembly according to claim 7, further comprising a pouch being positioned on said front surface of said first layer, said pouch having an opening being aligned with a bounding edge of said neck space.

10. The assembly according to claim 9, further comprising a pad being insertable into said pouch, said pad being comprised of a moisture wicking material wherein said pad is configured to wick moisture from spilled drink or food therein.

11. The assembly according to claim 7, further comprising a kerchief having a top edge, a front surface and a back surface, said top edge having an opening extending between said front and back surfaces to define a pouch between said front and back surfaces, said kerchief being wearable around the neck of the person wherein said pouch is configured to be positioned on the person's torso beneath the person's mouth.

12. The assembly according to claim 11, further comprising a pad being insertable into said pouch, said pad being comprised of a moisture wicking material wherein said pad is configured to wick moisture from spilled drink or food therein.

13. The assembly according to claim 7, further comprising a vest being comprised of a moisture wicking material wherein said vest is configured to wick moisture from spilled drink or food, said vest being wearable on an person wherein said vest is configured to have fluids spilled thereon, said vest having a first lateral side and a second lateral side.

14. The assembly according to claim 13, further comprising a first mating member being coupled to said first lateral side of said vest, said first mating member being positionable in an open position for vertically splitting said first lateral side, said first mating member being positionable in a closed position for closing said first lateral side.

15. The assembly according to claim 14, further comprising a second mating member being coupled to said second lateral side of said vest, said second mating member being positionable in an open position for vertically splitting said second lateral side, said second mating member being positionable in a closed position for closing said second lateral side.
