DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXEMPLARY EMBODIMENTS OF DISCLOSUREThe exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure can provide for various configurations of a detachable hood that can be attached to a jacket or other clothing article or worn without being attached. In some exemplary embodiments, the detachable hood can be folded into an attached pouch. Exemplary embodiments of the detachable hood will now be described with reference to the figures. The following description of the various embodiments is merely exemplary in nature and is in no way intended to limit the scope of the disclosure, its application, or uses.
Magnets 120 having a first polarity can be placed on the straps 110 at a distal or bottom end 110b of the straps 110. The magnets 120 can be visible (e.g., sewn or fixed to the straps 110), or can be secured within the distal ends 110b of the straps 110 so that they are not visible. Magnets 130 have a second polarity attracted to the magnets 120 having a first polarity, and each set of magnets 130 can be placed within the side portions 140, 150 at locations that correspond to the magnets 120 in the straps 110. This causes the distal ends 100b of the straps 110 to be held in place by the attraction of the magnets 120 in the straps 110 to the magnets 130 in the side portions 140, 150 of the detachable hood 100.
In use, a user can place the detachable hood 100 on her head. The lower portion 105 of the detachable hood 100 can be placed within or on an inside area of a user's article of clothing (such as but not limited to a jacket, vest, sweatshirt, shirt, etc.). The straps 110 are opened and placed on an outside area of the user's article of clothing, such that the user's article of clothing is placed between the outer portion of the side portions 140, 150 and the straps 110. The magnets 120 of the straps are then placed in proximity to the magnets 130 of the side portions 140, 150, to secure the detachable hood 100 to the user's article of clothing. In some exemplary embodiments, only one magnet in one strap can be provided and in some embodiments, more than two magnets and two straps may be used. For example, in some embodiments, a third strap with a magnet can be added along the bottom portion 105 of the detachable hood 100 behind the user's neck for more security.
In some exemplary embodiments, instead of magnets 130 having a second polarity placed within side portions of the hood, additional straps with magnets 140 having a second polarity can be placed on the inner side portions 140, 150 of the detachable hood 100. The additional straps can be placed along similar locations on both sides of the detachable hood 100, so that the magnets 120 on the straps 110 attract to and are secured to the magnets on the additional straps on the inner sides of the side portions 140, 150 of the detachable hood 100. In this manner, the hood can be “reversible” so that a different design can be provided on an outer portion and an inner portion of the detachable hood 100, and the detachable hood 100 can be worn either way. Bungee straps can be provided along both the inner and outer portions of the detachable hood 100 so that the hood can be cinched when worn either way. Various types of magnets can be used, such as strong and rare earth magnets that attach only to each other but not to jewelry or other articles worn around the neck or face, or “ribbon magnets” that can be made into a retractable cord.
In some exemplary embodiments, a pouch 180 can be provided along a bottom portion 105 of the detachable hood 100. The pouch 180 can have a zippered portion 185 and a hollow portion within the zippered portion 185 that can hold a zip handle. The pouch can be sewn or integrated with the detachable hood 100 along the three borders excluding the zippered portion 185. The detachable hood 100 can be folded and the pouch 180 can be inverted to hold the detachable hood 100 within the pouch 180, and the zip handle 190 can be sealed to enclose the detachable hood within the pouch 180. The pouch 180 can be provided along any portion of the detachable hood 100 and is not restricted to any position or location on the detachable hood 100. Any other sealing mechanism besides a zippered portion 185 can be provided on the pouch, such as a button, clip or other mechanical closing means. In some exemplary embodiments, a fold over version can be provided so that the pouch 180 does not need to be closed using a zipper or other sealing mechanism.
