Ring Toss Game Assembly

A ring toss game assembly includes a pair of goals that each has a plurality of branches thereon such that each of the goals has a tree-like shape. Each of the goals is urgeable to penetrate a support surface having the goals spaced a pre-determined distance apart from each other and being vertically oriented. A plurality of first rings, second rings and third rings is distributed evenly among players. Each of the first rings, second rings and third rings is tossed toward a respective goal during game play. Each of the first rings, the second rings and the third rings scores a respective minimum number of point, a medium number of points and a maximum number of points when the first rings, second rings or third rings lands on a branch of the goal.

The disclosure relates to ring toss games and more particularly pertains to a new ring toss game for playing a game of ring toss on any type of support surface.

The prior art relates to ring toss games. The prior art discloses a panel with a plurality of vertical pegs for playing ring toss. The prior art discloses a game including a tree-like goal and an elastic member that is tossed at the tree-like goal. Additionally, the prior art discloses a disk toss game involving a panel with a plurality of recessed targets for receiving a tossed disk. The prior art discloses an electronic ring toss game including an electronic score keeper and a single, vertical peg. The prior art discloses a tree-like goal for playing ring toss that includes baskets for receiving a plurality of balls.

Additionally, the prior art discloses a tree like goal that includes a plurality of buckets for throwing balls therein.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pair of goals that each has a plurality of branches thereon such that each of the goals has a tree-like shape. Each of the goals is urgeable to penetrate a support surface having the goals spaced a pre-determined distance apart from each other and being vertically oriented. A plurality of first rings, second rings and third rings is distributed evenly among players. Each of the first rings, second rings and third rings is tossed toward a respective goal during game play. Each of the first rings, the second rings and the third rings scores a respective minimum number of point, a medium number of points and a maximum number of points when the first rings, second rings or third rings lands on a branch of the goal.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

 DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new ring toss device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the ring toss game assembly 10 generally comprises a pair of goals 12 that each has a plurality of branches 14 thereon such that each of the goals 12 has a tree-like shape. Each of the goals 12 is urgeable to penetrate a support surface 16 having the goals 12 being spaced a pre-determined distance apart from each other and being vertically oriented. In this way the pair of goals 12 defines a playing field. Additionally, the support surface 16 may be ground or other penetrable surface.

Each of the goals 12 comprises a rod 18 that has a bottom end 20, a top end 22 and an outer surface 24 extending therebetween. The bottom end 20 has a first well 26 extending toward the top end 22 and the outer surface 24 has a plurality of second wells 28 each extending inwardly therein. The second wells 28 are positioned between the bottom end 20 and the top end 22, and the second wells 28 are positioned on opposite sides of the rod 18 from each other. Each of the goals 12 includes a point 30 that has a first end 32 and a second end 34, and the point 30 tapers to a point at the first end 32. The second end 34 releasably engages the first well 26 for piercing the support surface 16 and subsequently vertically orienting the rod 18 on the support surface 16.

Each of the goals 12 includes a pair of arms 36 that each has a primary end 38 and a secondary end 40. Additionally, each of the arms 36 is curved between the primary end 38 and the secondary end 40. The primary end 38 of each of the arms 36 releasably engages a respective one of the second wells 28 such that each of the arms 36 curves upwardly from the rod 18. The secondary end 40 of each of the arms 36 is aligned proximally with the top end 22 of the rod 18 when the arms 36 are coupled to the rod 18. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 2, the primary end of each arm 36 may include an engagement 41 for engaging the respective second well 28.

A pair of stands 42 is provided and each of the stands 42 is positionable on a support surface 16 that the goals 12 cannot penetrate, such as concrete, wood or other similar type of flooring. Each of the goals 12 is insertable into a respective one of the stands 42 for retaining the goals 12 in a vertical orientation when the goals 12 cannot penetrate the support surface 16. Each of the stands 42 comprises a collar 44 which has an opening 46 extending therethrough. Each of the stands 42 includes a plurality of legs 48 that is each coupled to and extends downwardly from the collar 44. The legs 48 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed around the opening 46, and the legs 48 splay outwardly from the collar 44. The legs 48 support the collar 44 on a horizontal plane that is spaced upwardly from the support surface 16. Moreover, the rod 18 of a respective one of the goals 12 is insertable through the opening 46 thereby facilitating the collar 44 to restrain the rod 18 in a vertical orientation.

A plurality of first rings 50 is provided and the first rings 50 are distributed evenly among players at the beginning of game play. Each of the first rings 50 is tossed toward a respective goal 12 during game play. Moreover, each of the first rings 50 scores a minimum number of points for the player when the first rings 50 lands on any of the branches 14 on the respective goal 12.

A plurality of second rings 52 is provided and second rings 52 are distributed evenly among players. Each of the second rings 52 is tossed toward a respective goal 12 during game play. Additionally, each of the second rings 52 scores a medium number of points for the player when the second rings 52 lands on any of the branches 14 on the respective goal 12. Each of the second rings 52 has a diameter that is less than the diameter of the first rings 50.

A plurality of third rings 54 is provided and the third rings 54 are distributed evenly among players. Each of the third rings 54 is tossed toward a respective goal 12 during game play. Each of the third rings 54 scores a maximum number of points for the player when the third rings 54 lands on any of the branches 14 on the respective goal 12. Additionally, each of the third rings 54 has a diameter that is less than the diameter of the second rings 52. Each of the first rings 50 may have an inside diameter of approximately 2 5/16 inches, each of the second rings 52 may have an inside diameter of approximate 3 7/16 inches and each of the third rings 54 may have an inside diameter of approximately 4 9/16 inches.

In use, the goals 12 are placed on the support surface 16 and are spaced apart from each other a preferred distance that can easily be covered by throwing one of the first rings 50, second rings 52 or third rings 54. The goals 12 can be placed with or without the arms 36 being attached to the rod 18. Each player takes a turn throwing either a first ring 50, a second ring 52 or a third ring 54, based upon the level of difficulty the player chooses. Points are scored when the player is able to toss the first ring 50, the second ring 52 or the third ring 54 onto one of the branches 14 of the respective goal 12. In this way the player accumulates points until a pre-determined number of points are scored to win the game.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A ring toss game assembly being configured to be played on a variety of support surfaces, said assembly comprising:

a pair of goals, each of said goals having a plurality of branches thereon such that each of said goals has a tree-like shape, each of said goals being urgeable to penetrate a support surface having said goals being spaced a pre-determined distance apart from each other and being vertically oriented;
a pair of stands, each of said stands being positionable on a support surface, each of said goals being insertable into a respective one of said stands for retaining said goals in a vertical orientation when said goals cannot penetrate the support surface; and
a plurality of first rings, said plurality of first rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said first rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said first rings scoring a minimum number of points for the player when said first rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal;
a plurality of second rings, said plurality of second rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said second rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said second rings scoring a medium number of points for the player when said second rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal, each of said second rings having a diameter being less than the diameter of said first rings; and
a plurality of third rings, said plurality of third rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said third rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said third rings scoring a maximum number of points for the player when said third rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal, each of said third rings having a diameter being less than the diameter of said second rings.

2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein each of said goals comprises a rod having a bottom end, a top end and an outer surface extending therebetween, said bottom end having a first well extending toward said top end, said outer surface having a plurality of second wells each extending inwardly therein, said second wells being positioned between said bottom end and said top end, said second wells being positioned on opposite sides of said rod from each other.

3. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of said goals includes a point having a first end and a second end, said point tapering to a point at said first end, said second end releasably engaging said first well wherein said first end of said point is configured to pierce a support surface for vertically orienting said rod on the support surface.

4. The assembly according to claim 3, wherein each of said goals includes a pair of arms, each of said arms having a primary end and a secondary end, each of said arms being curved between said primary end and said secondary end, said primary end of each of said arms releasably engaging a respective one of said second wells such that each of said arms curves upwardly from said rod, said secondary end of each of said arms being aligned proximally with said top end of said rod when said arms are coupled to said rod.

5. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein each of said stands comprises a collar having an opening extending therethrough.

The assembly according to claim 5, wherein each of said stands comprises a plurality of legs, each of said legs being coupled to and extending downwardly from said collar, said legs being spaced apart from each other and being distributed around said opening, said legs splaying outwardly from said collar, said legs supporting said collar on a horizontal plane being spaced upwardly from the support surface.

7. The assembly according to claim 6, wherein said rod of a respective one of said goals is insertable through said opening thereby facilitating said collar to restrain said rod in a vertical orientation.

8. A ring toss game assembly being configured to be played on a variety of support surfaces, said assembly comprising:

a pair of goals, each of said goals having a plurality of branches thereon such that each of said goals has a tree-like shape, each of said goals being urgeable to penetrate a support surface having said goals being spaced a pre-determined distance apart from each other and being vertically oriented, each of said goals comprising: a rod having a bottom end, a top end and an outer surface extending therebetween, said bottom end having a first well extending toward said top end, said outer surface having a plurality of second wells each extending inwardly therein, said second wells being positioned between said bottom end and said top end, said second wells being positioned on opposite sides of said rod from each other; a point having a first end and a second end, said point tapering to a point at said first end, said second end releasably engaging said first well wherein said first end of said point is configured to pierce a support surface for vertically orienting said rod on the support surface; and a pair of arms, each of said arms having a primary end and a secondary end, each of said arms being curved between said primary end and said secondary end, said primary end of each of said arms releasably engaging a respective one of said second wells such that each of said arms curves upwardly from said rod, said secondary end of each of said arms being aligned proximally with said top end of said rod when said arms are coupled to said rod;
a pair of stands, each of said stands being positionable on a support surface, each of said goals being insertable into a respective one of said stands for retaining said goals in a vertical orientation when said goals cannot penetrate the support surface, each of said stands comprising:
a collar having an opening extending therethrough; and a plurality of legs, each of said legs being coupled to and extending downwardly from said collar, said legs being spaced apart from each other and being distributed around said opening, said legs splaying outwardly from said collar, said legs supporting said collar on a horizontal plane being spaced upwardly from the support surface, said rod of a respective one of said goals being insertable through said opening thereby facilitating said collar to restrain said rod in a vertical orientation; and
a plurality of first rings, said plurality of first rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said first rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said first rings scoring a minimum number of points for the player when said first rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal;
a plurality of second rings, said plurality of second rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said second rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said second rings scoring a medium number of points for the player when said second rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal, each of said second rings having a diameter being less than the diameter of said first rings; and
a plurality of third rings, said plurality of third rings being distributed evenly among players, each of said third rings being tossed toward a respective goal during game play, each of said third rings scoring a maximum number of points for the player when said third rings land on any of said branches on said respective goal, each of said third rings having a diameter being less than the diameter of said second rings.
