Grip Regulating Sports Glove Assembly
A grip regulating sports glove assembly for enforcing a proper grip to a shaft of a swinging device includes a glove and a block. The glove is selectively positionable over a hand of a user. The block is engaged to a palmar face glove so that the block extends substantially across metacarpophalangeal joints of the hand. The block is substantially wedge shaped and tapers from a first side to a second side. The first side is positioned proximate to fingers of the glove and abuts the shaft of the swinging device, such as a bat, a club, racket, and the like, that is gripped in the hand. The block forces proper gripping of the shaft in the hand.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the InventionThe disclosure relates to sports gloves and more particularly pertains to a new sports glove for enforcing a proper grip to a shaft of a swinging device.
(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98The prior art relates to sports gloves. Prior art sports gloves that are intended to train or enforce a grip may comprise a glove with a support coupled thereto.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a glove that is configured to be positionable over a hand of a user. The glove has a block engaged to a palmar face thereof. The block extends substantially across metacarpophalangeal joints of the hand when the hand is positioned in the glove. The block is substantially wedge shaped so that the block tapers from a first side to a second side. The first side is positioned proximate to fingers of the glove. The first side is configured to abut a shaft of a swinging device, such as a bat, a club, racket, and the like, that is gripped in the hand. The block is configured to force proper gripping of the shaft in the hand.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
The present invention anticipates the block 14 being integral to the glove 12. The present invention also anticipates the block 14 being removably couplable to the glove 12 so that the block 12 can be selectively angled relative to opposing sides 30 of the glove 12.
The block 14 is substantially rigid and may comprise hardened rubber, or other substantially rigid material, such as, but not limited to, rigid silicone, rigid elastomer, cork, and the like. The block 14 is rounded proximate to the first side 18 to define a first section 22 and a second section 24 of the block 14. The first section 22 is substantially cylindrically shaped, and the second section 24 is substantially triangular rod shaped, as shown in
A fastener 26 is engaged to the glove 12 proximate to an opening 28 in the glove 12 and is configured to removably engage the glove 12 to tighten the opening 28 around a wrist of the user. The fastener 26 may be hook and loop type, as shown in
In another embodiment, the glove 12 is one of a pair of gloves 12. Each glove 12 is configured to be positioned over a respective hand of the user so that both hands have a glove 12 positioned thereupon. The blocks 14 of the pair of gloves 12 are substantially parallel to and substantially opposingly positioned relative to the shaft of the swinging device when the shaft is gripped in the hands of the user. Thus positioned, the blocks 14 are configured to force proper gripping of the shaft in the hands of the user, as shown in
In use, the glove 12 is donned by the user and tightened around the wrist using the fastener 26. When grasping the shaft of the swinging device, such as the bat in
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the elements is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
