MODULAR HAIR SYSTEM

Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for a modular hair system. An apparatus includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head and at least one hair member configured to be selectively attached to the cap while the cap is worn on the head of the user. The hair member includes a strip member that is configured to be attached to the cap and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip member.

CROSS-REFERENCES TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62/961,683 entitled “MODULAR HAIR SYSTEM” and filed on Jan. 15, 2020, for Diane Shaw Delonde, which is incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD

This invention relates to hair care and more particularly relates to a modular hair system.

BACKGROUND

Conventional sew-in hair products require the hair to be braided, and then a cap is applied, and then faux hair is sewn into the person's hair and the cap, which is cumbersome and time consuming.

SUMMARY

Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for a modular hair system. An apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head and at least one hair member configured to be selectively attached to the cap while the cap is worn on the head of the user. The hair member, in certain embodiments, includes a strip member that is configured to be attached to the cap and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip member.

A system, in one embodiment, for a modular hair system includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head, a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap, and a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user. In one embodiment, the plurality of hair members comprising strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.

A module hair system, in one embodiment, includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head. The cap may be comprised of a flexible elastic and/or stretchable material. In further embodiments, the modular hair system includes a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap, means on an inner surface of the cap for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn, and a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user. In one embodiment, the plurality of hair members include a plurality of strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.

An apparatus, in one embodiment, includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head and at least one hair member configured to be selectively attached to the cap while the cap is worn on the head of the user. The hair member, in certain embodiments, includes a strip member that is configured to be attached to the cap and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip member.

In one embodiment, the cap is comprised of a flexible elastic and/or stretchable material. In certain embodiments, an outer surface of the cap comprises means for attaching the strip member to the cap, the means comprising a half of a hook-and-loop fastener and the strip member comprising a corresponding half of the hook-and-loop fastener.

In one embodiment, an inner surface of the cap comprises means for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn. In some embodiments, the means for grabbing onto the user's head comprises at least one of rubber portions, bobby pins, hair clips, and teeth.

In one embodiment, an outer surface of the cap includes at least one strip that is configured to mate with the strip member for attaching the hair member to the cap. In various embodiments, the at least one strip is selectively coupled to the outer surface of the cap so that the position of the at least one strip on the cap can be changed.

In one embodiment, the plurality of hairs are comprised of synthetic material. In certain embodiments, the plurality of hairs comprise various characteristics selected from the group comprising different textures, colors, lengths, widths, and styles. In some embodiments, the plurality of hairs comprise characteristics for different hair styles selected from the group comprising straight hair, curly hair, dreadlocks, short hair, long hair, and braided hair.

In one embodiment, the strip member has a width within a range of 0.5 inches to 3 inches. In certain embodiments, the strip member has a length within a range of 6 inches to 8 inches. In some embodiments, the plurality of hairs are selectively coupled to the strip member such that different hairs may be attached and removed from the strip member.

A system, in one embodiment, for a modular hair system includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head, a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap, and a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user. In one embodiment, the plurality of hair members comprising strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.

In one embodiment, an inner surface of the cap comprises means for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn, the means for grabbing onto the user's head comprising at least one of rubber portions, bobby pins, hair clips, and teeth.

In one embodiment, the plurality of strips are selectively coupled to the outer surface of the cap so that the position of the plurality of strips on the cap can be changed. In certain embodiments, the plurality of hairs are comprised of synthetic material with various characteristics selected from the group comprising different textures, colors, lengths, widths, and styles.

In one embodiment, the plurality of hairs are selectively coupled to the strip member such that different hairs may be attached and removed from the strip member. In certain embodiments, the plurality of strip members have a width within a range of 0.5 inches to 3 inches and a length within a range of 6 inches to 8 inches.

A module hair system, in one embodiment, includes a cap configured to be worn on a user's head. The cap may be comprised of a flexible elastic and/or stretchable material. In further embodiments, the modular hair system includes a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap, means on an inner surface of the cap for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn, and a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user. In one embodiment, the plurality of hair members include a plurality of strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.

FIG. 1 depicts one embodiment of a modular hair system 100. The modular hair system 100 includes a cap 102 and a hair member 104. The cap 102 may be a soft, flexible, elastic, stretchable, and/or the like hair cap that is intended to be worn on a user's head. The cap 102 is configured to fit on a user's bald head or a user's head that has natural hair, and/or a combination of the foregoing. The cap 102 may be made of flexible and/or elastic or stretchable material such as nylon so that it fits users' heads of various sizes and shapes.

The outer surface of the cap 102, in one embodiment, includes means for attaching a hair member 104 to the outer surface of the cap, e.g., a material comprising one half of a hook-and-loop fastener, e.g., Velcro® material, snaps, clips, and/or the like. The inner surface of the cap 102 may include material for “grabbing” onto the wearer's head and/or hair such as rubber portions, portions with clips such as bobby pins, teeth (e.g., like teeth for a comb), and/or the like. The cap 102 may be colored to match the skin tone of the wearer.

In certain embodiments, the outer surface of the cap 102 includes one or more strips 103, tracks, guides, and/or the like that are coupled, fastened, attached, or the like to the cap 102. In such an embodiment, the cap 102 may comprise a net or mesh material and the strips 103 may comprise one half of a hook-and-loop fastener that matches with the other half that is coupled to the hair member 104. The strips 103 may be located in any configuration around the cap 102 (e.g., vertical, horizontal, diagonal, in a grid, and/or the like) and there may be any number of strips 103 fastened to the cap 102. The strips 103 may also be selectively coupled to the cap 102, e.g., using hook-and-loop fasteners or clips, so that the strips 103 can be added, removed, and positioned on the cap 102 as needed.

In one embodiment, the hair member 104 is embodied as a strip member 105 that a plurality of “hairs” 106 is coupled to. The strip member 105 may comprise the other half of the hook-and-loop fastener that corresponds to the outer surface of the cap 102 so that the strip member 105 is couplable to the out surface of the cap 102. The strip members 105 may have different lengths and widths. For instance, the strip members 105 may be 0.5 inches wide and 6-8 inches long. In certain embodiments, certain strip members 105 may be configured to go around the bottom portion of the cap 102. For instance, such strip members may be 3 inches in width. The hairs 106 may be permanently attached, coupled, or fastened to the strip member 105 by being sewn to the strip member 105, glued to the strip member 105, and/or the like. In other embodiments, the hairs 106 may be selectively attached to the strip member 105 so that different hairs 106 can be attached to the same strip member 105 and allows strip members 105 to be reusable.

The hairs 106 may be faux hair that is made of hair-like material, e.g., human hair or synthetic hair such as nylon, to give the appearance of real hair. The hairs 106 may have different characteristics such as different textures, colors, lengths, widths, styles, and/or the like based on the wearer's desired look. For instance, the hairs 106 may be configured as straight hair, curly hair, dreadlocks, short hair, long hair, braided hair, and/or the like or any combination of the foregoing.

The cap 102 may accommodate a plurality of hair members 104 so that a user can attach multiple different hair members to the cap 102. Furthermore, the hair members 104 can be attached to the cap 102 in a variety of different configurations, positions, locations, and/or the like according to the wearer's desired look. In this manner, a user can dynamically create different hairstyles, wigs, and/or the like by adding and removing different hair members 104 to the cap 102 without using messy glues or sewing natural hair into the faux hair, and/or the like. Both the cap 102 and the hair members 104 may be machine washable.

FIG. 2 is a schematic flow chart diagram illustrating one embodiment of a method 200 for a modular hair system. In one embodiment, the method 200 places 202 a hair cap on a user's head. In a further embodiment, the method 200 attaches 204 at least one hair member to the hair cap, the hair member includes a strip member that is configured to be attached to the hair cap and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip member, and the method 200 ends.

The described embodiments are to be considered in all respects only as illustrative and not restrictive. The scope of the invention is, therefore, indicated by the appended claims rather than by the foregoing description. All changes which come within the meaning and range of equivalency of the claims are to be embraced within their scope.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a cap configured to be worn on a user's head; and
at least one hair member configured to be selectively attached to the cap while the cap is worn on the head of the user, the hair member comprising a strip member that is configured to be attached to the cap and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip member.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the cap is comprised of a flexible elastic and/or stretchable material.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an outer surface of the cap comprises means for attaching the strip member to the cap, the means comprising a half of a hook-and-loop fastener and the strip member comprising a corresponding half of the hook-and-loop fastener.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an inner surface of the cap comprises means for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein the means for grabbing onto the user's head comprises at least one of rubber portions, bobby pins, hair clips, and teeth.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein an outer surface of the cap includes at least one strip that is configured to mate with the strip member for attaching the hair member to the cap.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the at least one strip is selectively coupled to the outer surface of the cap so that the position of the at least one strip on the cap can be changed.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of hairs are comprised of synthetic material.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the plurality of hairs comprise various characteristics selected from the group comprising different textures, colors, lengths, widths, and styles.

10. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the plurality of hairs comprise characteristics for different hair styles selected from the group comprising straight hair, curly hair, dreadlocks, short hair, long hair, and braided hair.

11. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the strip member has a width within a range of 0.5 inches to 3 inches.

12. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the strip member has a length within a range of 6 inches to 8 inches.

13. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the plurality of hairs are selectively coupled to the strip member such that different hairs may be attached and removed from the strip member.

14. A system, comprising:

a cap configured to be worn on a user's head;
a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap; and
a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user, the plurality of hair members comprising strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein an inner surface of the cap comprises means for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn, the means for grabbing onto the user's head comprising at least one of rubber portions, bobby pins, hair clips, and teeth.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of strips are selectively coupled to the outer surface of the cap so that the position of the plurality of strips on the cap can be changed.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of hairs are comprised of synthetic material with various characteristics selected from the group comprising different textures, colors, lengths, widths, and styles.

18. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of hairs are selectively coupled to the strip member such that different hairs may be attached and removed from the strip member.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the plurality of strip members have a width within a range of 0.5 inches to 3 inches and a length within a range of 6 inches to 8 inches.

20. A modular hair system, comprising:

a cap configured to be worn on a user's head, the cap comprised of a flexible elastic and/or stretchable material;
a plurality of strips coupled to an outer surface of the cap;
means on an inner surface of the cap for grabbing onto the user's head such that the cap does not move while it is being worn; and
a plurality of hair members configured to be selectively attached to the plurality of strips while the cap is worn on the head of the user, the plurality of hair members comprising: a plurality of strip members that are configured to be attached to the strips; and a plurality of hairs that are coupled to the strip members.
