Lunch Bag

Abstract

A lunch bag has a cuboid main housing having an internal compartment and a handle. The lunch bag further comprises a wipe compartment formed on one of the side faces, the wipe compartment adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes into a wipe receiving space. The wipe compartment includes an insertion slot adapted to allow the wet wipes into the wipe receiving space, and further has a wipe access opening being large enough to enable access to the wet wipes, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes from falling out of the wipe receiving space. A cover flap is attached to the cuboid main housing, and extends to cover the insertion slot.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of the Invention

This invention relates generally to lunch bags, and more particularly to a lunch bag having a wipe compartment adapted to receive and dispensing a pack of wet wipes.

Description of Related Art

Insulated lunch bags having an internal compartment and a closure are well known in the art, having a variety of shapes, pockets, etc. However, few such lunch bags are designed to address potential germs, allergens, and similar threats that arise while eating or taking a medication in a shared environment. Medication containers, and wet wipe dispensers that receive a pack of sanitizing wet wipes are also widely produced, but tend to be single-purpose, and may require separate containers to transport.

The prior art teaches lunch bags, and wet wipe dispensers. However, the prior art does not teach a combination lunch bag and wet wipe dispenser. The present invention fulfills these needs and provides further advantages as described in the following summary.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention teaches certain benefits in construction and use which give rise to the objectives described below.

The present invention provides a lunch bag adapted to contain a pack of wet wipes. The lunch bag includes a main housing forming an internal compartment; an access opening for accessing the internal compartment; a cover face for removably covering the access opening; and a wipe compartment formed on the main body, the wipe compartment being adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes into a wipe receiving space defined between the wipe compartment and the main body, the wipe compartment including an insertion slot adapted to allow the pack of wet wipes into the wipe receiving space. A wipe access opening is formed through the wipe compartment, the wipe access opening being large enough to enable access to the wet wipes, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes from falling out of the wipe receiving space. A cover flap is attached to the main housing and extending to cover the insertion slot.

A primary objective of the present invention is to provide a lunch bag having advantages not taught by the prior art.

Another objective is to provide a lunch bag having a wipe compartment for receiving and dispensing a pack of wet wipes.

A further objective is to provide a lunch bag adapted to carry medical and sanitizing supplies.

Other features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following more detailed description, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, which illustrate, by way of example, the principles of the invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The above-described drawing figures illustrate the invention, a lunch bag 10 adapted to contain a pack of wet wipes 12.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the lunch bag 10 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 2 is an exploded perspective view thereof. As shown in FIGS. 1-2, the lunch bag 10 comprises a cuboid main housing 20 having a first face 24 and a second face 22 connected by a bottom face 26 opposite a top face 28, and two side faces 30 & 32, to form an internal compartment 34 within the cuboid main housing 20. A handle 36 is attached to the top face 28 of the cuboid main housing 20 for carrying the lunch bag 10. In this embodiment, a shoulder strap 37 is further attached to the handle 36. In other embodiments, the shoulder strap 37 may be attached to any part of the cuboid main housing 20, or the lunch bag 10 may have only the handle 36.

The cuboid main housing 20 further includes an access opening 38 through the first face 24 for accessing the internal compartment 34, the access opening 38 being covered by a cover face 40 removably attached to the cuboid main housing 20 with a fastener 42. In this embodiment, the fastener 42 is in the form of a zipper which allows the cover face 40 to open or close the access opening 38. However, in other embodiments, the fastener 42 may be in the form of any other type of fastener commonly used for this type of closure, e.g., hook-and-loop fasteners, buttons, clips, etc. The internal compartment 34 may be insulated, and may include a variety of features known in the art, such as inner dividers, pockets, holders, etc.

A wipe compartment 44 is formed on one of the two side faces 30 of the cuboid main body, the wipe compartment 44 being adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes 12 into a wipe receiving space 46. The wipe receiving space 46 is defined between the wipe compartment 44 and the side face 30 of the cuboid main body, and may be sized to receive any standard pack of wet wipes 12 through an insertion slot 48 of the wipe compartment 44. Once the pack of wet wipes 12 has been inserted into the wipe receiving space 46, a user may access them via a wipe access opening 50 through the wipe compartment 44. The wipe access opening 50 is large enough to enable access to the wet wipes 12, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes 12 from falling out of the wipe receiving space 46.

A cover flap 52 of the wipe compartment 44 is attached to the cuboid main housing 20, and extends to cover the insertion slot 48. In this embodiment, the cover flap 52 extends past the wipe access opening 50 to be fastened to the wipe compartment 44 via fasteners 54, but in other embodiments, the cover flap 52 covers only the insertion slot 48. The fasteners 54 may be in the form of press-studs, magnets, hook-and-loop fasteners, zippers, or any other type of fastener known in the art.

In use, a user would open the cover flap 52 of the wipe compartment 44 and pull out an individual wet wipe from the wipe access opening 50. However, alternative covers may be devised, covering just the wipe access opening 50. Other pockets or holders may be attached to the cuboid main housing 20, such as a pouch 56 attached to the other of the two side faces 32. In some embodiments, the user may also retrieve an auto injector 14 from an auto injector pocket 60, shown in FIG. 3 and described below.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the lunch bag 10, illustrating the auto injector pocket 60 located adjacent the access opening 28 on the first face 24 of the lunch bag 10. As shown in FIG. 3, the auto injector pocket 60 is adapted to receive the auto injector 14, and comprises a receiving space 62, an opening 64, and a closure mechanism 66. In this embodiment, the closure mechanism 66 is in the form of a zipper, but in other embodiments, the closure mechanism 66 may be any type of closure known in the art (e.g., a hook-and-loop fastener, buttons, drawstring, etc.).

For purposes of this application, the term “cuboid” is defined to include any three dimensional shape having six rectangular side surfaces that defines an internal compartment. The term “generally cuboid” is defined to include any three dimensional shape, regardless of the geometry of the sides, that defines the internal compartment suitable for containing contents (e.g., lunch, medical supplies, etc.).

As used in this application, the words “a,” “an,” and “one” are defined to include one or more of the referenced item unless specifically stated otherwise. The terms “approximately” and “about” are defined to mean+/−10%, unless otherwise stated. Also, the terms “have,” “include,” “contain,” and similar terms are defined to mean “comprising” unless specifically stated otherwise. Furthermore, the terminology used in the specification provided above is hereby defined to include similar and/or equivalent terms, and/or alternative embodiments that would be considered obvious to one skilled in the art given the teachings of the present patent application. While the invention has been described with reference to at least one particular embodiment, it is to be clearly understood that the invention is not limited to these embodiments, but rather the scope of the invention is defined by claims made to the invention.

Claims

1. A lunch bag adapted to contain a pack of wet wipes, the lunch bag comprising:

a main housing forming an internal compartment;

an access opening for accessing the internal compartment;

a cover face for removably covering the access opening;

a wipe compartment formed on the main body, the wipe compartment being adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes into a wipe receiving space defined between the wipe compartment and the main body, the wipe compartment including an insertion slot adapted to allow the pack of wet wipes into the wipe receiving space;

a wipe access opening through the wipe compartment, the wipe access opening being large enough to enable access to the wet wipes, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes from falling out of the wipe receiving space; and

a cover flap attached to the main housing and extending to cover the insertion slot.

2. A lunch bag adapted to contain a pack of wet wipes, the lunch bag comprising:

a cuboid main housing having a first face and a second face connected by a bottom face opposite a top face, and two side faces, to form an internal compartment within the cuboid main housing;

an access opening through the first face for accessing the internal compartment;

a cover face for covering the access opening, the cover face being removably attached to the cuboid main housing with a fastener;

a handle attached to the top face for carrying the lunch bag;

a wipe compartment formed on one of the two side faces of the cuboid main body, the wipe compartment being adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes into a wipe receiving space defined between the wipe compartment and the side face of the cuboid main body, the wipe compartment including an insertion slot adapted to allow the pack of wet wipes into the wipe receiving space;

a wipe access opening through the wipe compartment, the wipe access opening being large enough to enable access to the wet wipes, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes from falling out of the wipe receiving space; and

a cover flap attached to the cuboid main housing and extending to cover the insertion slot.

3. The lunch bag of claim 2, further comprising an auto injector pocket located on the second face of the lunch bag and adapted to receive an auto injector, wherein the auto injector pocket comprises a receiving space, an opening, and a closure mechanism.

4. The lunch bag of claim 2, wherein the internal compartment is insulated.

5. The lunch bag of claim 2, wherein the fastener is a zipper.

6. A lunch bag adapted to contain a pack of wet wipes, the lunch bag comprising:

a cuboid main housing having a first face and a second face connected by a bottom face opposite a top face, and two side faces, to form an internal compartment within the cuboid main housing;

an access opening through the first face for accessing the internal compartment;

a cover face for covering the access opening, the cover face being removably attached to the cuboid main housing with a fastener;

a handle attached to the top face for carrying the lunch bag;

a wipe compartment formed on one of the two side faces of the cuboid main body, the wipe compartment being adapted to receive the pack of wet wipes into a wipe receiving space defined between the wipe compartment and the side face of the cuboid main body, the wipe compartment including an insertion slot adapted to allow the pack of wet wipes into the wipe receiving space;

a wipe access opening through the wipe compartment, the wipe access opening being large enough to enable access to the wet wipes, but small enough to prevent the wet wipes from falling out of the wipe receiving space;

a cover flap attached to the cuboid main housing and extending to cover the insertion slot; and

further comprising an auto injector pocket located on the second face of the lunch bag and adapted to receive an auto injector, wherein the auto injector pocket comprises a receiving space, an opening, and a closure mechanism.
