BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to fingernail sanding device and more particularly pertains to a new fingernail sanding device for allowing a person to quickly file their nails while utilizing a flexible panel which will ensure only a small amount of material is removed.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to fingernail sanding devices that are used to remove uneven material from a person's nails.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a handle that elongated and has a first end, a second end and a perimeter wall extending between first and second ends. The handle has a bottom surface. A central area configured to receive a person's fingers is defined below the bottom surface. A plurality of posts is attached to and extends downwardly from the bottom surface. Each of the posts has a distal end with respect to the handle. A panel comprises a flexible material and a bottom side of the panel comprises an abrasive material. The panel has a plurality of apertures extending therethrough. Each of the distal ends is extendable through one of the apertures such that the panel is releasably mounted on the posts. The bottom side is abuttable against a person's nails to remove material from the nails.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a top isometric view of a fingernail sanding assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a bottom isometric view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a side view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is an end view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 4 thereof, a new fingernail sanding device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 4, the fingernail sanding assembly 10 generally comprises a handle 12 that is elongated and has a first end 14, a second end 16 and a perimeter wall 18 extending between first 14 and second 16 ends. The handle 12 has a bottom surface 20 and a central area 22 configured to receive a person's fingers is defined below the bottom surface 20. The handle 12 has a length from the first end 14 to the second end 16 that is between 3.0 inches and 6.0 inches. The handle 12 has an arcuate outer surface 24 and may include a plurality openings 26 extending therein to enhance gripping friction.

A plurality of posts 28 is attached to and extends downwardly from the bottom surface 20. Each of the posts 28 has a distal end 30 with respect to the handle 12. The posts 28 include a first pair of posts 28 positioned adjacent to the first end 14 and a second pair of posts 28 positioned adjacent to the second end 16. Each of the posts 28 includes an upper portion 32 and a lower portion 34. Each of the lower portions 34 is angled outwardly away from the central area 22 and each of the upper portions 32 is angled inwardly toward the central area 22. This forms a hook like structure. The posts 28 and handle 12 may be comprised of a resiliently flexible material such as a plastic, elastomeric or metallic material. Each of the posts 28 extend away from the handle 12 a distance between 1.5 inches and 4.0 inches.

A panel 36 is provided which is comprises of a flexible material. A bottom side 38 of the panel 36 comprises an abrasive material. The panel 36 has a plurality of apertures 40 extending therethrough. Each of the distal ends 30 is extendable through one of the apertures 40 such that the panel 36 is releasably mounted on the posts 28. The bottom side 38 is abuttable against a person's fingernails to remove material from the fingernails. The panel 36 may be what is known conventionally as fingernail paper.

In use, the assembly 10 allows for quickly removing material from a person's fingernails in such a manner that only a small amount of fingernail material will be removed. However, the shape of the handle ensures that persons who have disabilities will be able to easily sand their fingernails. The posts allow for quick attachment and disengagement with the posts. The bends in the posts help to retain the panel on the posts.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
