CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application claims priority to U.S. provisional patent application Ser. No. 16/878,695 filed on May 20, 2020. The entire disclosure is included herein in its entirety at least by reference.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The Baby Near Me Bassinet is a small bassinet for a newborn that sits on top of a standard mattress. The adjustable pole secures the bassinet on the bed, therefore Preventing the bassinet from falling off. What is clearly needed is a bed that offers safety for the infant and accommodating convenience for the mother.

1. Field of the Invention

Baby bassinet prevents mother from rolling over onto sleeping baby while baby is in bed with the mother.

2. Description of Related Art

The disadvantage of the bassinet as foreseen by the inventor would be the ribbon straps that hold the fasteners may become disconnected from the outer wall.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The Baby Near Me Bassinet is designed to be a sleep area for a young infant that would sit on top of the adult bed, beside the mother. The 6″ high walls would prevent the parent from rolling onto the infant should she fall asleep. The baby would not be in any danger of rolling, falling or being pushed off of the bed.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The Baby Near Me Bassinet is a rectangular bed, 23″×16″, that sits on top of an adult mattress. The surrounding walls are 6″ high. All 4 walls can open when fasteners are opened, allowing the mother to have access to the infant in any position. The inside of the bassinet, walls and mattress is padded with 1″ foam. The 6′ adjustable pole would be used to secure the bassinet on the bed. The use of the pole is optional, depending on the need of the parent. If the parent chooses to use the bassinet on the couch or on a flat stable surface, the adjustable pole might not be needed.

  • 1. Remove interconnecting feet from 101/4″×10¼″ squares of the solid play mat. FIG. 9a, 9b 12. Cut an additional 2″ strips to add to make the mattress foundation wider, making the foundation 16″23″
  • 2. Glue all pieces and squares with Elmer's Probond Advanced. Allow to dry.
  • 3. Cut 14″×20½″ from foam. FIG. 12 12
  • 4. Apply Fabric Fusion Adhesive and center foam onto the solid foam mat. Allow to dry.
  • 5. Cut 2 6″×16″ solid foam mat squares and foam, 2 15″×12″ 1″ foam for head board and foot board.
  • 6. Cut (2) 16″×24″ contact paper. This is for the top and bottom of the foundation of the mattress.
  • 7. Remove the back paper from the contact paper and lay the adhesive side up. Lay the two previous glued squares to the contact paper. FIG. 10 12
  • 8. Allow Elmer's Probond Advanced to outer edge of mattress foundation.
  • 9. Fold contact paper around edges. Turn over and apply second 16″×24″.
  • 10. Apply medium pinch clamps around edges insuring paper stays in place. Allow to dry. FIG. 11 12
  • 11. Cut additional pieces from remaining solid foam. (2) 5″×5″, 2 7″×5″, these extra Pieces will be added to the 4 walls as an extension. Therefore, the measurements of the head and foot board will be 6″×16″ and the 2 side walls will be 6″×21⅝″.
  • 12. Apply Fabric Fusion adhesive to 1 piece of 5″×14½″ foam, from step 5, to 1 6″×16″ wall, center the foam and allow to dry.
  • 13. Repeat step 12 for other piece of 6″×16″.
  • 14. Cut (2) 5″×21¼″ foam. These will be used as inner padding for side walls. Repeat Step 11.
  • 15. Apply Fabric Fusion adhesive an allow to dry.
  • 16. Cut 4 pieces of contact paper. 2 pieces 15″×12″ for head and foot board. 2 Pieces for side walls 21″×12″.
  • 17. Remove backing paper from contact paper, center each wall on contact paper and wrap each wall, closing the ends of the paper. Thus creating small flap at both ends.
  • 18. After all 4 walls are completed, lay walls around mattress closely.
  • 19. Cut (8) 22″ strips of clear tap 48 m×36.5 m.
  • 20. Place 2 strips of clear tap on each wall, 4″ apart connecting them to the foundation of the mattress. Repeat this until all 4 walls are connected.
  • 21. Cut (4) 20″ of clear tape. Apply tape parallel to the crease of wall and foundation
  • 22. Flip whole element over and repeat step 21.
  • 23. Cut (8) 6″ black ribbon FIG. 7 12 for (8) Whistle Buckle fasteners. FIG. 4 12a,b, FIG. 5
  • 24. Thread ribbon through fasteners and close each end with Elmer's Probound. allow to dry.
  • 25. From the edge of the flap measure 1½″, glue ribbon with fasteners to outside of walls. Apply second fastener 3″ from the first fastener.
  • 26. Repeat step 25 for remaining walls. Allow to dry.
  • 27. Apply Elmer's probond to 2 hole strap bracket and apply it to the outside of either end of the bassinet. FIG. 8 12. This will signify the head board. Allow to dry.
  • 28. Close all walls with fasteners and place on bed.
  • 29. Insert 6′ aluminium adjustable pole through the two hole strap bracket, in front adult head board, pass top mattress and box spring, until it stops on floor. FIG. 3a,3b,3c,3d,3e, 12.
  • 30. Open either side for feeding. FIG. 2 12

Claims

1. For many centuries, overlying by the mother was accepted as the cause of sudden, unexpected infant deaths. I have designed a product that would provide a safe sleeping environment that lays directly on the bed, secured with adjustable pole ensuring the bassinet on the bed.

With my invention, Baby Near Me Bassinet makes it possible for parents to see the infant and check on the infant from a semi-reclined position. Also, the mother would not have to rise from the bed to retrieve the infant during the night. The alignment of the adjustable pole through the two hole strap bracket, by passing the head board and box spring, until it reaches the floor.
