Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention

This invention relates to tools used in the application of cosmetics onto the eyelashes.

Description of Prior Art

Mascara has been applied by wands or brushes with bristles with little innovation for centuries. While it is an effective method of applying cosmetics to the eyelashes, it leaves room for improvement as to the cleanliness of the application, wastefulness, and sanitation. Current mascara applicators on the market are some variation of a wand with bristles. Although there have been some devices seeking to use dual wands, sometimes on tongs, the mascara applicator is always within a tube of mascara and with bristles. One problem with these designs is mascara is covered along the length of and all the way around the applicator. This wastes mascara, and it causes the mascara to be applied to the skin around the eyelashes. This also causes a sanitation problem by soaking the part of the applicator that touches the face into the mascara. Although the bristles may help separate the eyelashes, applicators with bristles all the way around are hazardous around eyes and the delicate skin on the face. There is currently no mascara that comes separate from a wand on the market.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present disclosure relates to a mascara applicator comprising tongs formed by two arms. Each of the two arms includes a terminal end and a proximal end. The proximal ends are connected to allow pivoting of the arms with respect to one another. Each of the terminal ends is shaped to form a substantially flat tip with an inner side and an outer side, and at least one of the inner sides includes a polymer cushion or a crayon form of mascara.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS:

A more complete appreciation of the invention and many of the attendant advantages thereof will be readily obtained as the same becomes better understood by reference to the following detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein:

FIG. 1 is a view of a first embodiment of mascara applicator tongs including a cushion on inner sides of flat tips along with a tube containing mascara that is used to deposit mascara onto the cushion;

FIG. 2 is a view of a second embodiment of the mascara applicator tongs including the cushion with protrusions on the inner sides of the flat tips along with the tube containing mascara that is used to deposit mascara onto the cushion with protrusions;

FIG. 3 is a view of a third embodiment of the mascara applicator tongs with a removable crayon of mascara on the inner sides of the flat tips along with a magnet that is embedded within the flat tips and removable crayon of mascara;

FIG. 4 is a side view of an embodiment of an attachable mascara applicator that contains either the cushion, the cushion with protrusions, or the crayon of mascara along with the tube containing mascara that is used to deposit mascara onto the cushion or cushion with protrusions;

FIG. 5 is a top view of various possible shapes of the flat tips of mascara applicator tongs or attachable mascara applicator tips; and

FIG. 6 is a side view demonstration of how the attachable mascara applicator from FIG. 4 attaches to a stick or tweezers.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF INVENTION:

This mascara applicator involves tongs that can be made of all one piece that pivots so both tips are together. The tongs can also be made of two separate rods joined at one tip. An example of the mascara tongs is shown in FIG. 1. The moving tips of the tongs may be flat, may be made in various shapes, and may contain soft polymer cushion, soft polymer cushion with protrusions, and/or a crayon of mascara. For the applicator with cushions, the mascara will be contained in a squeezable tube separate from the applicator. The mascara may be squeezed onto one or both cushions of the applicator, then the tips may be closed together by application of manual force so that the cushions are touching in order to get the mascara on all or most of the exposed areas of the cushion. The tong mascara applicators may be used by closing the tongs over the eyelashes and pulling from root to tip of the eyelashes. For the applicator with the crayon of mascara, the mascara may or may not be on a removable base that can be put on and taken off the applicator. The mascara will be applied in the same way, closing the applicator over the eyelashes and pulling from the root to the tip of the eyelashes.

The mascara applicator can also consist of applicator tips with a hollow part that can be added to tongs or rods. An example of the applicator tips is shown in FIG. 4. The solid part at the tip of the tips are flat with a polymer cushion, a polymer cushion with protrusions, or a crayon of mascara on one side of the flat tip. If the tips are added to tongs, the applicator will be used the same way as the tong applicator: by closing over the eyelashes and pulling from root to tip of the eyelashes. If a single tip is used, it will be used by placing the polymer cushion on the eyelash and pulling from root to tip.

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of mascara applicator tongs with the cushion on the inner side of the flat tips. Part 1 is the pivot end of the tongs, part 2 is the outer side of flat tips, part 3 is the cushion that goes on the inner side of flat tips, and part 4 is a tube containing mascara. FIG. 2 is an isometric view of mascara applicator tongs with the cushion with protrusions. Part 1 is the pivot end of the tongs, part 2 is the outer side of a flat tips, part 3 is the cushion with protrusions that go on the inner side of a flat tips, part 4 is the protrusions, part 5 is the cushion as in FIG. 1 part 3 that is the base of the protrusions, and part 6 is a tube containing mascara. FIG. 3 is an isometric view of mascara applicator tongs with a crayon mascara. Part 1 is the pivot end of the tongs, part 2 is the outer side of the flat tips, part 3 is the crayon of mascara on a base that may or may not be removable, part 4 is the crayon of mascara, part 5 is a possible removable base that the crayon of mascara sits on, part 6 is an example of a magnet that will go inside the removable base of the crayon as well as in the flat tips in order to attach the base to the tip. The magnet will be in the center of the tip and the base as demonstrated in where part 6a and 6b intersect as well as where part 6c and 6d intersect. FIG. 4 is a side view of an attachable mascara applicator. Part 1 is a hollow end that attaches to rods or tongs and the dotted line demonstrates the tapered shape of the hollow part in order to attach to a variety of sizes, part 2 is the flat tip that contains part 3, which is one of a cushion, a cushion with protrusions, or a crayon of mascara, all of which can be found in FIGS. 1-3. Part 4 is a tube containing mascara to be used with the cushion or cushion with protrusions. FIG. 5 is a top view of various possible shapes of the flat tips of the tongs to separate tips. Part 1 is a circular tip, part 2 is a square tip, part 3 is a triangle tip, part 4 is a diamond tip, part 5 is an angled tip, part 6 is an eye-shaped tip, part 7 is a straight tip, part 8 is an irregular-shaped tip, part 9 is an oval tip, part 10 is a rectangular tip, part 11 is a teardrop-shaped tip, and part 12 is a crescent-shaped tip. FIG. 6 demonstrates how the attachable mascara applicator of FIG. 4 attaches to a stick or tweezers. Part 1 is the hollow part of the mascara applicator the part 2 goes into, and part 2 is the stick or tweezers that the mascara applicator attaches to. The mascara applicator is pressed onto the object until the pressure and friction of the tapered opening on the solid object holds it on.
