BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to resealable bag devices and more particularly pertains to a new resealable bag device for facilitating the opening of a resealed bag.

(2) Description of Related Art including information disclosed under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to resealable bag devices. Known bag devices have various resealing mechanism. A common packaging technique includes a tear-off section above a press seal mechanism. Once opened and resealed, these press seal mechanisms can be very difficult to open, particularly for user's with weak or arthritic hands. Known devices do not include additional grip tabs and require the user to pull on the bag sides.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a first bag side having a first top edge, a first bottom edge, a first left edge, a first right edge, a first outer face, and a first inner face and a second bag side coupled to the first bag side. The second bag side has a second top edge, a second bottom edge, a second left edge, and a second right edge coupled to the first top edge, the first bottom edge, the first left edge, and the first right edge, respectively. The second bag side has a second outer face and a second inner face. The second bag side and the first bag side form a bag interior. A press seal closure is coupled to the bag body. The press seal closure includes a first track coupled to the first inner face proximal the first top edge and a second track coupled to the second inner face proximal the second top edge. The first track is selectively engageable with the second track. A pair of pull tabs is coupled to the bag body. The pair of pull tabs comprises a first pull tab coupled to the first outer face and a second pull tab coupled to the second outer face.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of an easy open resealable bag apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is an isometric view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a side elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is a top plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new resealable bag device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the easy open resealable bag apparatus 10 generally comprises a bag body 12 comprising a first bag side 14 having a first top edge 16, a first bottom edge 18, a first left edge 20, a first right edge 22, a first outer face 24, and a first inner face 26.

A second bag side 30 is coupled to the first bag side 14. The second bag side 30 has a second top edge 32, a second bottom edge 34, a second left edge 36, and a second right edge 38 coupled to the first top edge 16, the first bottom edge 18, the first left edge 20, and the first right edge 22, respectively. The second bag side 30 has a second outer face 40 and a second inner face 42. The second bag side 30 and the first bag side 14 form a bag interior 44. Each of the first bag side 14 and the second bag side 30 may have a folded portion 46 adjacent the first left edge 20, the first right edge 22, the second left edge 38, and the second right edge 38 to increase the maximum volume of the bag interior 44.

The first bag side 14 may have a first perforation 48 extending from the first left edge 20 to the first right edge 22 proximal the first top edge 16. The second bag side 30 has a second perforation 50 aligned with the first perforation 48. The bag body 12 may have a pair of tear notches 52 including a left notch 54 and a right notch 56 extending through the first bag side 14 and the second bag side 30. Once the first bag side 14 and the second bag side 30 have been cut or ripped along the first perforation 48 and the second perforation 50, or between the left notch 54 and the right notch 56, the bag interior 44 is accessible as shown in FIG. 5.

A press seal closure 58 is coupled to the bag body 12. The press seal closure 58 includes a first track 60 coupled to the first inner face 26 proximal the first top edge 16 and a second track 62 coupled to the second inner face 42 proximal the second top edge 32. The first track 60 is selectively engageable with the second track 62. The press seal closure 58 may have a zip or other press-to-seal mechanism. The press seal closure 58 is coupled below the pair of tear notches 52 to remain functional once the portion of the bag body 12 between the pair of tear notches 52 and the first top edge 16 and the second top edge 32 has been removed.

A pair of pull tabs 64 is coupled to the bag body 12. The pair of pull tabs 64 comprises a first pull tab 66 coupled to the first outer face 24 and a second pull tab 68 coupled to the second outer face 40. Each pull tab 64 has a tab inner face 70 and a tab outer face 72. An attachment portion 74 of the tab inner face is coupled to the bag body 12 and a grip portion 76 is flexibly extendable away from the bag body 12. Each pull tab 64 may have a plurality of grip ridges 78 on the tab inner face 70 and the tab outer face 72 to improve grip. Each pull tab 64 may be transparent to prevent obstruction of logos and designs on the bag body 12. The thickness of each pull tab 64 may be greater than the thickness of the first bag side 14 and the second bag side 30 to avoid breakage.

In use, the portion of the bag body 12 between the pair of tear notches 52 and the first top edge 16 and the second top edge 32 is cut or torn off. The press seal closure 58 is selectively closed by pressing on the first bag side 14 and the second bag side 30. To reopen the press seal closure 58, the pair of pull tabs 64 are secured and pulled apart.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
