Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a storage bag, specifically a storage bag for storing items for children. The storage bag has an organization mechanism located in the interior of the bag for organizing storage containers.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure relates to a storage bag, specifically a storage bag for storing items for children.

BACKGROUND

Parents and caretakers of children typically need access to a variety of childcare and entertainment products to appropriately care for and entertain children. It can be difficult to organize these products in an effective manner in a case or bag while also allowing ease of access and quick identification of products contained therein.

SUMMARY

The present disclosure relates to a storage bag comprising a front surface, a back surface, and a perimeter wall, wherein a top edge of the perimeter wall is adjacent the front surface and a bottom edge of the perimeter wall is adjacent the back surface, wherein the perimeter wall defines an opening configured to allow access to an interior of the storage bag, wherein the interior comprises an organization mechanism and at least one storage container selectively engageable with the organization mechanism, wherein the at least one storage container contains at least one child entertainment product or child care product.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention is directed to a storage bag for storing items, in particular items for child entertainment or child care. Many storage bags marketed to caretakers do not contain an efficient organization system. Many known storage bags contain a single, large compartment that do not allow for separation or organization of materials contained therein. While some storage bags may contain pockets or several compartments, these bags still do not contain an organization system that allows for caretakers to efficiently separate a number of different items in a thoughtful manner.

Referring to FIG. 1, one aspect of the present invention is directed to a bag 10 having a front surface 12 and a back surface 14. The front (or top) surface 12 and the back (or bottom) surface 14 are generally identical in size and shape and typically contain four sides or edges (e.g., top side 16a, bottom side 16b, left side 16c, and right side 16d). However, the front surface 12 and back surface 14 can contain three, five, six, seven, etc. sides and be any desired shape and size suitable for the intended purpose of the storage bag. For example, a travel storage bag may have smaller dimensions than a storage bag intended for home use only. The skilled person will understand that the terms “top,” “bottom,” “left”, “right,” and any other term referencing the relative locations of components and structures of the storage bag are described in relation to the orientation of the storage bag as typically used by the skilled person and as illustrated in the corresponding drawings.

A top edge 18a of a perimeter wall 18 is adjacent the front surface 12 and a bottom edge 18b of the perimeter wall 18 is adjacent the back surface 14. The perimeter wall 18 may be a different height h1 depending on the overall size of the storage bag 10. For example, a storage bag 10 intended to store more items or bulkier items can have a taller perimeter wall 18 (larger height h1) than a storage bag 10 intended to store fewer items or smaller items, or intended for use during travel. The perimeter wall 18 defines an opening 20 that allows access to the interior of bag 10. When the front surface 12 and back surface 14 contain four sides (e.g., are rectangular in shape), the perimeter wall 18 will typically define an opening on three of the four sides. By doing so, the bag 10 can be completely opened and laid flat on a surface (i.e., where both the front surface 12 and the back surface 14 contact the same flat surface and generally have parallel longitudinal axes). In particular, when the storage bag is generally rectangular in shape with four sides, the perimeter wall 18 comprises a top face 20a adjacent the top edges 16a of the front surface 12 and the back surface 14, a bottom face 20b adjacent the bottom edges 16b of the front surface 12 and the back surface 14, a left face 20c adjacent the left edges 16c of the front surface 12 and the back surface 14, and a right face 20d adjacent the right edges 16d of the front surface 12 and the back surface 14. The perimeter wall 18 defines an opening on at least one of the top face 20a, bottom face 20b, left face 20c, and right face 20d. For example, the perimeter wall 18 can define an opening 20 on two faces 20a, 20b, 20c, and 20d, preferably on adjacent faces (e.g., the top face 20a and right face 20d, the top face 20a and left face 20c, the bottom face 20b and right face 20d, or the bottom face 20b and the left face 20c). In various aspects, the perimeter wall 18 defines an opening 20 on three adjacent faces (e.g., the top face 20a, right face 20d, and bottom face 20b, the top face 20a, left face 20c, and bottom face 20b, the left face 20c, the top face 20a, and the right face 20d, or the left face 20c, the bottom face 20b, and the right face 20d). In general, the corners 22 of the perimeter wall 18 (where one face of the perimeter wall 18 meets another face) can be straight or rounded. When the corners 22 are rounded, the opening 20 can either extend through the corners 22 (as illustrated in FIG. 4) or can terminate before the corners 22.

A handle 24 or other attachment mechanism (e.g., carabineer, loop, etc.) can be coupled to at least one edge edge 16a, 16b, 16c, 16d of the front surface 12 and/or back surface 14. For example, one handle 24 can be coupled to an edge of front surface 12 and another handle 22 can be coupled to an edge of back surface 14. Generally, the handle or other attachment mechanism allows for easier transport and storage/organization of the storage bag.

The perimeter wall 18 can include a closure 26 to selectively close the opening 20. For example, the perimeter wall closure 26 can include a zipper, buttons, snaps, and the like. When both a closure and handles are present, the closure 26 can be located on the same side of the perimeter wall 18 as the handle 24. In the illustrated example, the closure 26 includes a zipper and the opening 20 is defined in three adjacent faces 18a, 18d, 18b of the perimeter wall 18 and onto corners 22. The handles 24 are adjacent the central portion of the opening 20 (i.e., are adjacent the right edge 18d of the perimeter wall 18 on right edges 16d of both the top surface 12 and the bottom surface 14). In this example, the fourth wall (i.e., left wall 18c) is free from both an opening 20 and closure 26.

Referring to FIGS. 2-4, when the closure mechanism is disengaged and bag 10 is allowed to open and lay flat, the interior of bag 10 is accessible. The interior of bag 10 generally contains an organization mechanism 30. In the illustrated embodiment, the organization mechanism 30 comprises a three-ring binder system comprising three closable rings 32. However, the organization mechanism 30 can comprise any suitable organizational component or combination thereof, for example, a carabineer, one closable ring, two closable rings, pockets, folders etc. The organization mechanism 30 generally holds at least one storage container 34. For example, when the organization mechanism 30 is a three-ring binder system, the storage containers 34 will contain one, two, or three loops or holes 36 to engage with the rings 32 of the three-ring binder system. Similarly, where the organization mechanism 30 is a carabineer or one closable ring, the storage containers 30 will contain at least one loop or hole to engage with the carabineer or closable ring.

Storage containers 34 can generally comprise a selectively sealable bag (e.g., zip-top bag, sliding seal bag, foldable bag, etc.). In the illustrated example, the storage containers 34 include a zipper closure 42 opposite the engagement holes 38. Preferably, at least a portion of the storage container 34 is transparent to allow visibility to the inside components. In the illustrated example, a portion 38 of the front face 34a of the storage container 34 is transparent.

The storage containers 34 can store a variety of products. Although the illustrated embodiments depict products specifically designed for child entertainment or care, the skilled person will understand that any suitable product can be contained in the storage containers 34. For example, and without limitation, the storage containers 34 can contain sanitary wipes, personal hygiene products, food products (e.g., snacks), food containers, eating utensils, crayons, pencils, markers, or other writing instruments, game components, videogame systems, toys, books, hair accessories, medication, first aid products, and the like.

Storage containers 34 can be easily changed by a user based on the current needs. For example, a longer outing may require storage containers containing food products or hygiene products, while shorter outings may only require storage containers containing entertainment products. In various embodiments, storage containers 34 can be sent to users on an intermittent basis. For example, the present disclosure envisions a subscription service that regularly sends filled or unfilled storage containers to a subscriber. The contents of the storage container may vary period to period and may or may not be pre-selected by the subscriber.

The interior of the bag 10 can also include one or more pockets 40 on the interior side of the front surface 12 and/or the back surface 14. The pockets 40 can hold the storage containers 34 or can hold a product outside of a storage container 34. The pockets can be made of the same material as the overall bag 10, or at least a front face of the pocket 40 can be made of mesh. In certain embodiments, the pocket can have a stretchable band 44 or zipper 44 over a top portion of the pocket in order to allow containment of smaller items that may be placed therein.

The interior of the bag 10 can include name tag 46 or other identifying marking to identify the owner or child of the bag 10. Alternatively, or in addition to name tag 44 on the interior of the bag, the front surface 12, back surface 14, or perimeter wall 18 can include a name tag or other identifying mark.

The bag 10 as well as the storage containers 30 can be made of any suitable material, for example, fabric (e.g., nylon).

As various changes could be made in the above products without departing from the scope of the invention, it is intended that all matter contained in the above description and shown in the accompanying drawings shall be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Claims

1. A storage bag comprising:

a front surface;

a back surface; and

a perimeter wall wherein a top edge of the perimeter wall is adjacent the front surface and a bottom edge of the perimeter wall is adjacent the back surface, wherein the perimeter wall defines an opening configured to allow access to an interior of the storage bag, wherein the interior comprises: an organization mechanism; and at least one storage container selectively engageable with the organization mechanism, wherein the at least one storage container contains at least one child entertainment product or child care product.

2. The storage bag of claim 1, wherein the perimeter wall contains a closure to selectively close the opening.

3. The storage bag of claim 2, wherein the closure comprises a zipper, at least one button, or at least one snap, or a combination thereof.

4. The storage bag of claim 3, wherein the closure comprises a zipper.

5. The storage bag of claim 1, further comprising at least one handle coupled to a perimeter edge of the top surface or the bottom surface.

6. The storage bag of claim 5, wherein the at least one handle comprises two handles, wherein the first handle is coupled to a perimeter edge of the top surface and the second handle is coupled to a perimeter edge of the bottom surface.

The storage bag of claim 1, wherein the top surface and the bottom surface are generally rectangular in shape and have a top edge, a bottom edge, a left edge, and a right edge, and wherein the perimeter wall comprises a top face adjacent the top edge of the front surface and the back surface, a bottom face adjacent the bottom edge of the front surface and the back surface, a left face adjacent the left edge of the front surface and the back surface, and a right face adjacent the right edge of the front surface and the back surface.

8. The storage bag of claim 7, wherein the perimeter wall defines the opening on at least two of the top face, the bottom face, the left face, and the right face.

9. The storage bag of claim 8, wherein the perimeter wall defines the opening on the top face, the bottom face, and one of the right face and the left face.

10. The storage bag of claim 9, wherein when the opening is defined on the right face, the storage bag further comprises at least one handle coupled to the right edge of the front surface or the back surface, and when the opening is defined on the left face, the storage bag further comprises at least one handle coupled to the left edge of the front surface or the back surface.

11. The storage bag of claim 10, wherein the at least one handle comprises two handles, wherein the first handle is coupled to the respective edge of the top surface and the second handle is coupled to the respective edge of the bottom surface.

12. The storage bag of claim 1, wherein the organization mechanism comprises at least one binder ring, at least one carabineer, or at least one pocket, or a combination thereof.

13. The storage bag of claim 12, wherein the organization mechanism comprises at least one binder ring.

14. The storage bag of claim 13, wherein the at least one binder ring comprises three binder rings.

15. The storage bag of claim 12, wherein the storage container defines at least one opening or contains at least one loop that is engaged by the organization mechanism.

16. The storage bag of claim 14, wherein the storage container defines at least one hole to engage at least one binder ring.

17. The storage bag of claim 1, wherein the storage container comprises a selectively sealable bag.

18. The storage bag of claim 17, wherein at least a portion of the selectively sealable bag is transparent.

19. The storage bag of claim 17, wherein the storage container comprises a zip-top bag, a sliding seal bag, or a foldable bag, or a combination thereof.

20. The storage bag of claim 1, wherein the at least one child entertainment product or child care product comprises at least one of sanitary wipes, personal hygiene products, food products, food containers, eating utensils, writing instruments, game components, videogame systems, toys, books, hair accessories, medication, first aid products, or a combination thereof.
