Harness for restraining a child in a bed
A harness for limiting the displacement of a child without restricting natural movements is disclosed. The harness is one piece that is fastened to the lower body similar to a diaper. The harness is attached to a fixed point by any means to limit the displacement of the child.
The present invention pertains to devices like safety belts or body harnesses and methods for limiting the displacement of the human body.
BACKGROUNDPrior art on harnesses for children can be found with application mainly to avoid the child to roll over when laying on a bed. These prior arts include the mean by wish the harness is attached to the bed, which for the present invention is not specified and any means can be used. Harnesses usually are made of straps that are not appealing to the view and usually are associated with a physical or mental illness. The design of the present invention changes how a harness is seen by the child and parents since it offers a design that looks like a diaper that can be used with any prior art regarding restraining a child.
SUMMARYThe harness of the present invention overcome shortcomings of existing prior arts for restraining a child in a bed, such as disowned style, the use of plastic buckles of fastening, composed of more than one part, as well as the impossibility or discomfort to be worn before the child is put to bed.
The harness is just one piece that when fully opened looks like a T and it is worn like a diaper. It has pieces of hook and loop fasteners to adjust the harness to the waist of the child and a folding section as a safety mechanism to avoid the child to reach the hook and loop fasteners.
Once the harness is fastened to the child, a strip with a hook such as a baby safety pin clip can be used to restrain the child.
The harness of the present invention can be put to a child indistinctly if the child is awake or asleep. The harness can be used by both belly sleepers and back sleepers. Since the harness looks and is worn as a diaper, it can be put on the child before going to bed to avoid discomfort if the child is asleep.
The harness, as shown in
To put the harness to the child, the harness is placed on the mattress as shown in
Once the child is on top of the harness, the crotch section (200) is folded up and the hook and loop buckle section (300) would lean on the belly or back of the child and it will look as shown in
The operation of the harness is illustrated in
Claims
1. A harness to limit or restrain the movement of a child. The harness is made of one piece that looks like a T when fully opened and it looks and can be worn like a diaper when fastened to the child. The harness has two small loop fasteners (110) that are fastened to a large hook fastener (320) to adjust and fasten the harness to the waist of the child. As a safety mechanism, the harness has two small hook fasteners (120) that are fastened with a large loop fastener (310) to avoid the child to reach the pieces of hook and loop fasteners. The symmetry of the harness makes it to be used by children that sleep on their belly or their back. The harness can be used with any means to attach the harness to a fixed surface, such as a bed, to limit or restrain the movement of the child.
- Wherein the harness can also be used in a child to be seated.
- Wherein the position of the pieces of hook fasteners and the loop fasteners can be reversed without affecting the use of the harness.
- Wherein the harness can also be used by any person independently of the age.
