Adjustable Magnetic Face Shield
The present invention relates to a face shield made of pliable plastic with metals pieces and plastic adapters with magnets, which the face shield attaches to. It is mainly designed for people who wear eyeglasses, allowing for the face shield to connect onto the eyeglass arms. The clear plastic is thin enough to be pliable and will be of an oval or oblong shape to guarantee full coverage of the face. The pliable plastic with the metal pieces attached to it, and the plastic adapters with the magnet pieces attached to it will have no contact to the wearer's skin at any point. The plastic adapters will allow the wearer to adjust the face shield accordingly as close or further from the face as they will feel comfortable wearing it due to it's ability to pivot, closer as a pantoscopic tilt if they feel the need to be more protected or as a retroscopic tilt, further away from the face which will allow the wearer either more air to circulate and be able to breathe better.
A face shield to protect one's face from small flying debris or small particles that may get into the eyes, nose and/or mouth while working close with other people or performing certain activities that might involve dealing with particles that could potentially fly into a person's face. It is not to protect a person from infectious diseases or viruses, although it can be used as an additional layer of protection if required when using a face mask.
A piece of light clear pliable plastic with metal pieces attached on each side that can be connected to the arm of the wearer's eyeglasses by connecting to the magnetic pieces that are attached to part of a plastic insert and is hooked to the arms of the wearer's eyeglasses, connecting the face shield to the arm of the eyeglasses. The wearer will simply align the face shield metal pieces to the magnets that are hooked to the eyeglass arms and allow the magnets to snap the face shield into place. Just as easily to remove the face shield by demagnetizing the face shield from the magnets that are attached on the eyeglass arms.
It can be worn at home while working on certain projects requiring protection or professionally worn in any work environment such as food facilities, professional offices, laboratories that require the face to be shielded from small flying objects, fragments, particles and/or splashes. Many professional environment require the usage of face protection and offer very little option for people who wear eyeglasses. The present invention allows the face shield to connect to the eyeglass arms and not the head or forehead of the wearer which in some instances will cause the wearer to become hot and perspire due to the contact of the face shield on the skin or body. Most important, it allows for the person wearing prescription eyeglasses to maintain having to wear them and not sacrifice their vision in any way. It can be worn in any weather condition, indoors or outdoors.
There are numerous face shields and the closest to this invention is in the following U.S. Patent: Cummings, et al., U.S. Pat. Ser. No. D7,599,005 issued Jun. 21, 2016. The detachable face shield in that particular patent is designed solely for the use of a helmet when out riding in the outdoors and not for everyday activities requiring the face to be protected from small flying debris and small particles that may come into contact with the wearer's face while performing certain tasks, nor can it to be clipped on to the arms of an eyeglass frame.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONThis face shield is designed for anyone, whether they wear eyeglasses or not and who do not like to have a face shield attached to their head or forehead, creating another layer or object to their bodies. This face shield will be attached to the arms of the wearer's eyeglasses allowing ease and comfort from having the face shield placed directly on the body and skin, working as one unit and not separate pieces. This face shield design's main function allows for the ease of application and removal, with a snap on and snap off effect which can be done and applied by using just one hand and even with the eyes closed. By simply aligning or guiding the face shield close to the magnets attached to the plastic insert, it will easily connect and detach with one swift move.
