BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention.

The disclosure relates to lounge chair devices and more particularly pertains to a new lounge chair device for comfortable face-down lounging.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98.

The prior art relates to lounge chair devices. Existing devices may have cutouts for the user's face but do not have a surrounding cushion in conjunction with a drop-down tray on the back side. Many existing devices have fixed arm rests or arm rests which are translatable to a lower position, but do not utilize a three bar linkage system to automatically move with the chairback.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a chair frame comprising a medial frame having a medial left portion and a medial right portion. The medial frame lies in a horizontal plane. A leg frame is coupled to the medial frame. The leg frame has a leg left portion, a leg right portion, and a leg distal portion. The leg frame adjustably pivots on the medial frame between a horizontal leg position and a declined leg position. A head frame is coupled to the medial frame. The head frame has a head left portion, a head right portion, and a head distal portion. The head frame adjustably pivots on the medial frame between a horizontal head position and an inclined head position. A pair of legs is coupled to the medial frame. A covering is coupled to the chair frame. The covering extends from the head distal portion to the leg distal portion and from the medial left portion to the medial right portion. The covering has a face aperture extending from a covering top side through a covering bottom side proximal the head distal portion. A face pad is coupled to the covering top side around a perimeter of the face aperture. A drop-down tray is coupled to the covering. The drop-down tray has a plurality of straps coupled to the covering bottom side proximal the face aperture and a tray body adjustably coupled to the plurality of straps to go from a proximal position adjacent the covering to an extended position in parallel opposition to the covering bottom side.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new lounge chair device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the face-down lounge chair apparatus 10 generally comprises a chair frame 12 comprising a medial frame 14 having a medial left portion 16 and a medial right portion 18. The medial frame 14 lies in a horizontal plane. A leg frame 20 is coupled to the medial frame 14. The leg frame 20 has a leg left portion 22, a leg right portion 24, and a leg distal portion 26. The leg frame 20 adjustably pivots on the medial frame 14 between a horizontal leg position and a declined leg position. A head frame 28 is coupled to the medial frame 14. The head frame 28 has a head left portion 30, a head right portion 32, and a head distal portion 34. The head frame 28 adjustably pivots on the medial frame 14 between a horizontal head position and an inclined head position. The chair frame 12 may have a set of four adjustment pivot points 36 joining the medial frame 14, the leg frame 20, and the head frame 28 to maintain the desired positioning until adjusted.

A pair of legs 38 is coupled to the chair frame 12. The pair of legs 38 is coupled to the set of adjustment pivot points 36 to allow folding for transport and storage. Each leg 38 of the pair of legs may have a pair of riser portions 40, a base portion 42 extending between the pair of riser portions 38, and a brace portion 44 extending between the pair of riser portions 40 parallel to the base portion 42 for improved structural support.

A covering 46 is coupled to the chair frame 12. The covering 46 extends from the head distal portion 34 to the leg distal portion 26 and from the medial left portion 16 to the medial right portion 18. The covering 46 may have a plurality of cutouts 48 to accommodate for corners and for the set of adjustment pivot points 36. The covering 46 has a face aperture 50 extending from a covering top side 52 through a covering bottom side 54 proximal the head distal portion 34.

A face pad 56 coupled to the covering 46. The face pad 56 is coupled to the covering top side 52 around a perimeter 54 of the face aperture. The face aperture 50 may be circular and the face pad 56 may be annular. The face pad 56 provides comfort to the user's face while lying face down.

A drop-down tray 58 is coupled to the covering 46. The drop-down tray 58 has a plurality of straps 60 coupled to the covering bottom side 54 proximal the face aperture 50 and a tray body 62 adjustably coupled to the plurality of straps 60 to go from a proximal position adjacent the covering 46 to an extended position in parallel opposition to the covering bottom side 54. The drop-down tray 58 may be used to support the user's head in the proximal position or to support a book or the user's arms in the extended position. The tray body 62 may be rectangular prismatic and may have a plurality of first attachment members 64 on a tray edge 66 thereof and a plurality of second attachment members 68 on a tray bottom 70 thereof. Each of the plurality of straps 60 has a strap attachment member 72 selectively engageable with either the first attachment members 64 to achieve the extended position or the second attachment members 68 to achieve the proximal position. Each of the first attachment members 64, the second attachment members 68, and the strap attachment members 72 may be, but is not limted to, a selectively engageable fastener such as snaps, buttons, hook-and-loop fasteners, and the like.

A pair of adjustable arm rests 74 is coupled to the chair frame 12. Each of the adjustable arm rests 74 has a pair of support bars 76 coupled to the head frame 28 and the medial frame 14 and a rest platform 78 extending therebetween. The adjustable arm rest 74 movie between a raised position above the chair frame 12 when the head frame 28 is in the inclined head position and a lowered position below the chair frame 12 when the head frame 28 is in the horizontal head position. A pair of spring-loaded pins 80 may be coupled to the head frame 28. Each spring-loaded pin 80 is selectively depressible to allow the pair of adjustable arm rests 74 to move.

In use, the apparatus 10 may be used like a traditional lounge chair for sitting. Alternatively, the pair of adjustable arm rests 74 may be moved to the lowered position and the drop-down tray 58 may be moved to the extended position. The user may then comfortably lie face-down on the apparatus 10 with his or her face on the face pad 56.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
