DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The structure and technical features of the present invention will be detailedly described hereunder by three embodiments and accompany drawings. As shown in FIG. 1, a multifunctional sofa 10 in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention is composed of a base seat 20, a back supporting frame 30 mounted at a side of the base seat 20, a cushion pad 40 placed on the base seat 20 and the back supporting frame 30, and two support posts 50 mounted to the back supporting frame 30. For concise illustration of the structure of the multifunctional bed 10, the cushion pad 40 is omitted in FIGS. 2, 4 and 6.

As shown in FIG. 2, the base seat 20 comprises a rectangular hollow frame 22, a rectangular support cloth 24 located inside the frame 22, and a plurality of resilient members 26 connected between the frame 22 and the support cloth 24 in a way that an annular gap 28 is left between the frame 22 and the support cloth 24 and the resilient members 26 are located in the gap 28. The support cloth 24 is provided at an outer periphery with four edge strips 241 for being connected with the resilient members 26. The frame 22 is provided with through holes 223 through which the resilient members 26 are inserted, respectively. Specifically, each resilient member 26 has two ends connected with the edge strip 241 and the frame 22. For the resilient member 26, spring, resilient rope or another resilient component may be used. In this embodiment, the resilient member 26 is realized as an extension spring. The inner edge of the frame 22 is mounted with four wave-shaped retaining strips 221 having wave crests that are welded to the inner edge of the frame 22, such that the through hole 223 is formed between each two adjacent wave crests and adapted for being hooked by an end of the resilient member 26. It is to be understood that the structure of the through hole 223 is not limited to the one disclosed in this embodiment as lone as an end of the resilient member 26 can pass through the through hole 223 and connects the frame 22. For example, the retaining strips may be omitted, and in this case the frame 22 is directly provided with a plurality of through holes 223. In an alternate embodiment, the through holes 223 are omitted, and in this case an end of the resilient member 26 is directly fixed to the frame 22 by welding for example.

The back supporting frame 30 is pivotally connected with a side of the base seat 20, such that the back supporting frame 30 is swingable relative to the base seat 20 between a lifted-up posture P1 as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 and a lay-down posture P2 as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. The two support posts 50 are pivotally connected with the back supporting frame 30, such that the support posts 50 are swingable relative to the back supporting frame 30. When the back supporting frame 30 is swung from the lifted-up posture P1 to the lay-down posture P2 as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the support posts 50 can be swung and extended relative to the back supporting frame 30 in a way that the bottom ends of the support posts 50 stand on the ground. When the back supporting frame 30 is set at the lifted-up posture P1, the two support posts 500 can be swung and retracted relative to the back supporting frame 30 in a way that the support posts 50 are abutted against the back supporting frame 30. In another feasible embodiment, the two support posts 50 may be fixedly mounted to the back supporting frame 30. Further, one or more support posts 50 may be used in the present invention. It is to be mentioned that the lifted-up posture P1 used in the present invention means that the back supporting frame 30 is swung from the lay-down posture P2, i.e., horizontal position, to an inclined position at any included angle relative to the base seat 20, not limited to the one disclosed in FIGS. 1 and 2.

The cushion pad 40 can be directly placed on the base seat 20 and the back supporting frame 30, or be detachably mounted to the base seat 20 and the back supporting frame 30 by a detachable fastener, such as a loop-and-hook fastener.

When the multifunctional sofa 10 is set at the lifted-up posture P1, the multifunctional sofa 10 can serve as a chair for user's siting. When the multifunctional sofa 10 is set at the lay-down posture P2, the multifunctional sofa 10 can serve as a bed for user's lying. Further, if the cushion pad 40 is removed as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the multifunctional sofa 10 can serve as a trampoline, such that the user can practice jumping exercise on the support cloth 24. Under this circumstance, the resilient members 26 can provide the support cloth 24 an upward rebounding force to enable the user to repeatedly jump on the support cloth 24 up and down. In other words, the multifunctional sofa 10 of the present invention combines the functions of chair, bed and exercise equipment, such that the home living space can be effectively utilized so as to preserve more space for home activities.

Based on the technical features of the present invention, various modifications to the multifunctional sofa 10 may be made. For example, the edge strips 241 may be omitted. Further, FIG. 5 shows a multifunctional sofa 10A made in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention. The support cloth 24 is provided at the outer periphery thereof with a plurality of connection sleeves 243 and a plurality of wave-shaped edge strips 241′. Each edge strip 241′ has two ends inserted through two adjacent connection sleeves 243. With this structural design, one end of one or more resilient members 26 can be hooked on the wave crest of the edge strip 241′.

FIG. 6 shows a multifunctional sofa 10B made in accordance with a third embodiment of the present invention. The structure of the multifunctional sofa 10B is similar to that of the multifunctional sofa 10 of the first embodiment, except that the frame 22′ has a circular shape, the support cloth 24′ has also a circular shape and is located inside the frame 22′, and the resilient members 26′ are resilient ropes. Each resilient member 26′ is connected with the frame 22′ in a way that the resilient member 26′ is wound around the frame 22′, and the resilient member 26′ is connected with the support cloth 24′ in a way that the resilient member 26′ is penetrated through the support cloth 24′.

The way that the resilient members 26 are connected between the frame 22 and the support cloth 24 is not limited to the ones disclosed in the above-mentioned embodiment, and the shapes and structures of the frame 22 and the support cloth 24 may be modified. Further, the connecting way between the back supporting frame 30 and the base seat 20 is not limited to a pivotally connected way. For example, the back supporting frame 30 may be fixedly mourned to the base seat 20. In this case, the support posts 50 can be omitted and the cushion pad 40 can be placed on the base seat 20 without covering the back supporting frame 30. In another aspect, if short resilient members 26 are used, the support cloth 24 may be arranged to be abutted with the frame 22 without the gap 2. If the resilient members 26 are springs, the resilient members 26 may be arranged on the top or bottom surface of the outer periphery of the support cloth 24. When the user jumps on the support cloth 24, a gap 28 may intermittently occur between the frame 22 and the cloth 24. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
