THREAD-FIT FITTED SHEET FOR MATTRESSES
A fitted sheet for a mattress is disclosed. The fitted sheet comprises a fabric having a top centre portion and a peripheral skirt portion extending from the top centre portion for covering at least five sides of the mattresses. The peripheral skirt portion includes a head end panel, a foot end panel and two side panels, wherein corresponding corner edges of the head end panel and the side panels are stitched, and corresponding corner edges of the foot end panel and the side panels are detachably attached through two zippers. Further, the fitted sheet comprises a first elastic member attached to bottom side edges of the head end panel and the side panels to clip the fitted sheet at a head end of the mattress, and a pair of cross corner elastic bands configured at adjacent bottom side corners to clip fitted sheet at a foot end of the mattress.

TECHNICAL FIELDThe present disclosure relates to the technical field of mattress covers. More specifically, it pertains to a thread-fit fitted sheet for mattresses for ease of fitting on the mattresses.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONBackground description includes information that may be useful in understanding the present invention. It is not an admission that any of the information provided herein is prior art or relevant to the presently claimed invention, or that any publication specifically or implicitly referenced is prior art.
Fitted sheets are commonly used for fitting around mattresses for covering and/or protecting the mattresses. Generally, construction of such a conventional fitted sheet involves cutting and sewing a fabric/material according to a shape the mattress, and further sewing one or more stretchable bands/elastic bands around a peripheral bottom side edge of the material. These elastic bands help to secures the fitted sheets to the mattress.

Efforts have been made in past to provide solution to abovementioned problems of the conventional fitted sheet. However, these solutions/alternatives are either more time consuming in fitting and removal of the fitted sheet or more costly in the process of manufacture of the fitted sheet.
There is, therefore, a need in the art to provide a simple, easy to use and cost-effective thread-fit fitted sheet for mattresses, which can overcome the abovementioned drawbacks of the conventional and/or existing fitted sheets.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTIONA general object of the present disclosure is to provide an improved fitted sheet for mattresses, which can obviate the abovementioned drawbacks of conventional fitted sheets.
An object of the present disclosure is to provide a simple and cost-effective fitted sheet for covering and/or protecting mattresses.
Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a thread-fit fitted sheet for mattresses for ease of fitting on the mattresses.
Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a simple and cost-effective thread-fit fitted sheet that may be easily and quickly applied to or removed from mattresses, thereby reducing time consumption and manual efforts in making up beds, especially in hotels, hospitals and the like, where a large number of beds are in use.
These and other objects of the present invention will become readily apparent from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
SUMMARYThe present disclosure relates to mattress covers including, but not limited to, fitted sheets, and/or fitted sheet protectors. More specifically, it pertains to a thread-fit fitted sheet for mattresses for ease of fitting on the mattresses.
In an aspect, the present disclosure provides a fitted sheet for a mattress. The mattress can be selected from a group comprising a crib, toddler, twin, twin extra-long, full, full extra-long, queen, king, and California king size mattress. The proposed fitted sheet can include a fabric comprising a top centre portion for fitting upon a top surface of a mattress, and a peripheral skirt portion extending from the top centre portion to define an envelope for covering at least five sides of the mattresses. The peripheral skirt portion can include a pair of end panels including a head end panel and a foot end panel, and a pair of side panels. Corner edges of the head end panel can be attached to adjacent corner edges of the side panels, and corner edges of the foot end panel are detachably attached to adjacent corner edges of the side panels. The pair of end panels and the pair of side panels can be adapted for fitting over corresponding ends and sides of the mattress.
In an embodiment, the top centre portion, the pair of end panels and the pair of side panels can be made from a single piece of the fabric.
In an embodiment, the pair of end panels and the pair of side panels of the peripheral skirt portion can be configured for coveting two opposite sides, two opposite ends and at least a portion of a bottom side of the mattress.
The proposed fitted sheet can include a first elastic member attached to a bottom side edge of the head end panel and a portion of a bottom side edge of each of the side panels. The first elastic member can be a semi-circular boxer elastic. The first elastic member can be configured to clip the fitted sheet at a head end of the mattress. The proposed fitted sheet can further include a pair of cross corner elastic bands connected between the side panels and the foot end panel. The pair of cross corner elastic bands can be configured at adjacent bottom side corners defined between the side panels and the foot end panel. The pair of cross corner elastic bands can help to drag down the fitted sheet comfortably to a foot end of the mattress after the fitted sheet is clip at the head end of the mattress and further clip fitted sheet at a foot end of the mattress.
In an embodiment, the proposed fitted sheet can include a pair of zippers configured between the corner edges of the foot end panel and the corner edges of the side panels for detachably attaching the corner edges of the foot end panel to the adjacent corner edges of the side panels.
In an embodiment, the corner edges of the head end panel can be stitched to the adjacent corner edges of the side panels.
In an embodiment, the proposed fitted sheet can include a second elastic member attached to least a portion of a bottom side edge of the foot end panel.
In an embodiment, the fabric can include at least one of cotton, cotton blend, polyester, polyester blend, wool, silk, synthetic, nonwoven, quilted, felted, multi-layered fabric, and waterproof material.

Embodiments explained herein relate to mattress covers including, but not limited to, fitted sheets, and/or fitted sheet protectors. More specifically, it pertains to a thread-fit fitted sheet for mattresses for ease of fitting on the mattresses. The proposed thread-fit fitted sheet can obviate drawbacks of conventional fitted sheets.
In an aspect, the proposed thread-fit fitted sheet may be easily and quickly applied to or removed from mattresses, thereby reducing time consumption and manual efforts in making up beds. In another aspect, the proposed thread-fit fitted sheet can be used for a mattress that can be any of a crib, toddler, twin, twin extra-long, full, full extra-long, queen, king, and California king size mattress.
In an aspect, the proposed thread-fit fitted sheet can be made in such a way that fitting the proposed fitted sheet is a very easy and comfortable process. The proposed thread-fit fitted sheet can include a fabric comprising a top centre portion for fitting upon a top surface of a mattress, and a peripheral skirt portion extending from the top centre portion to define an envelope for covering at least five sides of the mattresses. The peripheral skirt portion can include a pair of end panels including a head end panel and a foot end panel, and a pair of side panels. Corner edges of the head end panel can be stitched to adjacent corner edges of the side panels.
The fitted sheet can be clipped at a head end of the mattress through a first semi-circular boxer elastic that is attached to a bottom side edge of the head end panel and a portion of a bottom side edge of each of the side panels, and then the fitted sheet can be dragged and clipped at a foot end of the mattress through cross elastic bands provided at foot end corners of the fitted sheet. Further, a pair of zippers provided at the foot end corners along height of the mattress are zipped to close the foot end corners and make the bed look very clean and neat around the corners. Thus, the proposed fitted sheet reduces the hazzle and snug fits on the mattress in less time.

The proposed fitted sheet 200 can be made from one piece of a fabric that may include multiple portions including a top centre portion (not shown) for fitting upon a top surface of the mattress and a peripheral skirt portion 202 extending from the top centre portion to for covering at least five sides of the mattresses 250. The peripheral skirt portion 202 can include a pair of end panels including a head end panel 206-1 and a foot end panel 206-2 (collectively referred to as end panels 206), and a pair of opposite side panels 208-1 and 208-2 (collectively referred to as side panels 208). The pair of end panels 206 and the pair of side panels 208 can be adapted for fitting over corresponding ends and sides of the mattress 250. The terms head end, foot end and sides correspond to the portions of the fitted sheet 200 which are adjacent to a head end, a foot end and lateral sides, respectively, of the mattress 250. As shown, a portion of each of the head end panel 206-1 and the foot end panel 206-2, and the pair of opposite side panels 208-1 and 208-2 tuck under the bottom of the mattress 250, thus the end panels 206 and the pair of side panels 208 of the peripheral skirt portion 204 can be configured for coveting two opposite sides, two opposite ends and a portion of a bottom side of the mattress 250.
In an embodiment, corner edges of the head end panel 206-1 can be coupled to adjacent corner edges of the side panels 208. For instance, the corner edges of the head end panel 206-1 and the corner edges of the side panels 208 can be stitched (indicated by an arrow 218).
Further, corner edges of the foot end panel 206-2 can be detachably attached to adjacent corner edges of the side panels 208. For instance, the fitted sheet 200 can be provided with a pair of zippers 210-1 and 210-1 (collectively referred to as zippers 210) that are configured between the corner edges of the foot end panel 206-2 and the corner edges of the side panels 208 for detachably attaching the corner edges of the foot end panel 206-2 to the adjacent corner edges of the side panels 208.
Further, the proposed fitted sheet 200 can include a first elastic member 212 attached and/or stitched to a bottom side edge of the head end panel 206-1 and a portion of a bottom side edge of each of the side panels 208. The first elastic member 212 can be a semi-circular boxer elastic. The first elastic member 212 can be configured to clip the fitted sheet 200 at a head end of the mattress 250. For instance, the first elastic member 212 can have a width of about linch.
The proposed fitted sheet 200 can further include a pair of cross corner elastic bands 214-1 and 214-2 (cross corner elastic bands 214) connected between the side panels 208 and the foot end panel 206-2. The cross corner elastic bands 214 can be configured at adjacent bottom side corners defined between the side panels 208 and the foot end panel 206-2. The cross corner elastic bands 214 can help to drag down the fitted sheet comfortably to a foot end of the mattress 250 after the fitted sheet 200 is clip at the head end of the mattress 250, and further clip fitted sheet 200 at the foot end and/or bottom of the mattress 250. The cross corner elastic bands 214 can have a width of about linch.
In an embodiment, the pair of zippers 210 are configured to close or open, based on requirement, the foot end corners of the fitted sheet 200 for, respectively, attaching or detaching the corner edges of the foot end panel 106-2 to adjacent corner edges of the side panels 208. In an embodiment, the foot end panel 206-2 may lay flat when the zippers 210 are unzipped. The zippers 210 can be sewn to the respective corner edges of the foot end panel 206-2 and the corner edges of the side panels 208.
In an embodiment, the proposed fitted sheet 200 can include a second elastic member 216 which can be attached to least a portion of a bottom side edge of the foot end panel 206-2. The first elastic member 212, the second elastic member 216, the cross corner elastic bands 214 and the zippers 210 can be configured to secures the fitted sheet 200 on the mattress 250.
In an embodiment, the fabric of the fitted sheet 200 can include at least one of cotton, cotton blend, polyester, polyester blend, wool, silk, synthetic, nonwoven, quilted, felted, multi-layered fabric, waterproof material, and the like.

Claims
1. A fitted sheet for a mattress, the fitted sheet comprising:
- a fabric comprising a top center portion for fitting upon a top surface of a mattress, and a peripheral skirt portion extending from the top center portion to define an envelope for covering at least five sides of the mattresses, the peripheral skirt portion having a pair of end panels comprising a head end panel and a foot end panel, and a pair of side panels, wherein corner edges of the head end panel are attached to adjacent corner edges of the side panels, and corner edges of the foot end panel are detachably attached to adjacent corner edges of the side panels;
- a first elastic member attached to a bottom side edge of the head end panel and a portion of a bottom side edge of each of the side panels; and
- a pair of cross corner elastic bands connected between the side panels and the foot end panel, wherein the pair of cross corner elastic bands are configured at adjacent bottom side corners defined between the side panels and the foot end panel.
2. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the pair of end panels and the pair of side panels of the peripheral skirt portion are configured for coveting two opposite sides, two opposite ends and at least a portion of a bottom side of the mattress.
3. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fitted sheet comprises a pair of zippers configured between the corner edges of the foot end panel and the corner edges of the side panels for detachably attaching the corner edges of the foot end panel to the adjacent corner edges of the side panels.
4. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the corner edges of the head end panel are stitched to the adjacent corner edges of the side panels.
5. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the top center portion, the pair of end panels and the pair of side panels are made from a single piece of the fabric.
6. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein a second elastic member is attached to least a portion of a bottom side edge of the foot end panel.
7. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first elastic member is a semi-circular boxer elastic, and wherein the first elastic member is configured to clip the fitted sheet at a head end of the mattress.
8. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 7, wherein the pair of cross corner elastic bands are adapted to clip the fitted sheet at a foot end of the mattress.
9. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the mattress is selected from a group comprising a crib, toddler, twin, twin extra-long, full, full extra-long, queen, king, and California king size mattress.
10. The fitted sheet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the fabric comprises at least one of cotton, cotton blend, polyester, polyester blend, wool, silk, synthetic, nonwoven, quilted, felted, multi-layered fabric, and waterproof material.
