The disclosure relates generally to compression garments. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a compression fabric garment with storage compartments. In yet another embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment with a front having a double layer of compression fabric and a storage compartment. The disclosure also relates to methods of assembling and using a double layer compression fabric garment with storage compartments.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application is a non-provisional application of and claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 63/215,437 filed Jun. 26, 2021, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety.

FIELD

The disclosure relates generally to compression garments. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a compression fabric garment with storage compartments. In yet another embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment with a front portion or front side having a double layer of compression fabric and a storage compartment. The disclosure also relates to methods of assembling and using a double layer compression fabric garment with storage compartments.

BACKGROUND

Many women rely on compression fabric garments or “shapewear” to serve as undergarments or sometimes as an outerwear garment. The compression fabric, usually made from spandex or nylon blended fabric, smooths and shapes the body, reducing the appearance of bulges. The elastic nature of the compression fabric holds the body and any items tightly preventing movement.

Double layer compression fabric garments previously have been described. See e.g., U.S. Pat. Nos. 10,285,461 and 8,123,590. However, none of these garments create pockets or storage compartments from double layers of compression fabric. Women who wear compression fabric garments, such as tank tops, crop tops or capris, may be able to use the properties of the compression fabric to hold essential items such as phones, wallets, keys and other items securely throughout the day.

An advantage of the garment disclosed herein is that the items stored in the pockets of the compression fabric garment can be concealed from view when wearing an outer layer of clothing. Also, because the pocket is created from the double layer of fabric, the size of the pockets are large compared to a pocket constructed separately from the main garment. As a result, the pockets from the double layer of compression fabric are able to hold numerous items, relieving the woman from having to carry or wear a purse, belt, pack or other external bag. Placing the pockets in the front at the waist or hips also feels natural and less obtrusive when sitting or moving about, mimicking the placement of a pouch in marsupials. Placement of the pockets in the front also adds security from pickpockets or thieves.

SUMMARY

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment comprising: a front portion having an inner layer of compression fabric and an outer layer of compression fabric, a right side, a left side and a back portion with a single layer of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment comprising: a front side having an inner layer of compression fabric and an outer layer of compression fabric, a front right side, a front left side, a back portion with a single layer of compression fabric, a back left side, a back right side, and a neck opening.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment comprising: a front portion having an inner layer of compression fabric and an outer layer of compression fabric, wherein the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric are stitched together, a right side, a left side and a back portion with a single layer of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, the front portion of the garment has an opening between the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric on the left side, the right side, or both the left side and the right side. In one embodiment, the opening is rounded. In one embodiment, the opening on the left side is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening. In one embodiment, the opening on the right side is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening.

In one embodiment, the garment further comprises an upper stitch line above the left and the right side openings and a lower stitch line below the left side and ride side openings, thereby creating a storage compartment. In one embodiment, the opening of the storage compartment is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening.

In one embodiment, the front portion of the garment has a storage compartment between the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric on the left side, the right side, or both the left side and the right side. In one embodiment, the opening of the storage compartment is rounded. In one embodiment, the opening of the storage compartment on the left side is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening. In one embodiment, the opening on the right side is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening.

In one embodiment, the garment further comprises a vertical stitch line that goes through the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric and intersects the middle of the upper stitch line and the lower stitch line creating a right side storage compartment and a left side storage compartment.

In one embodiment, the inner layer of compression fabric and the outer layer of compression fabric are selected from the group consisting of spandex, elastane yarns, lycra, cotton, polyester, nylon, rayon, viscose, dry fit polyester and combinations thereof.

In one embodiment, the inner layer and the outer layer of compression fabric are the same color. In one embodiment, the garment is not a reversible garment.

In one embodiment, the left side opening and the right side opening are lined with a fastening mechanism.

In one embodiment, the garment is selected from the group consisting of a t-shirt, a tank top, a long-sleeved shirt, swim shirt, girdle and a dress.

In one embodiment, the garment is a tank top. In one embodiment, the garment is not a brassiere.

In one embodiment, the garment further comprises an elastic silicone waist band at the bottom inside of the garment.

In one embodiment, the garment disclosed herein is a double-layer compression fabric garment, with the front side of the garment having a double layer of compression fabric and the back side of the garment having a single layer of compression fabric. In one embodiment, the front portion of the garment having a double-layer compression fabric has an opening from the stitching on the left and right side near the front waist of the wearer.

In one embodiment, an upper stich line above the opening and a lower stitch line below the opening, both of which stitch through both layers of fabric, create a pouch between both layers of fabric that can hold a wearer's essential items, including but not limited to a phone, wallet, keys and other small items. In one embodiment, the openings are large enough to fit the wearer's hands so that the wearer can insert and remove their hands from the openings with ease. In some embodiments, a vertical stitch line extending from the middle of the upper stitch line to the middle of the lower stitch line creates two separate compartments for storage. The vertical stitch line stitches both fabric layers together.

In some embodiments, the garment disclosed herein is an upper body garment, a tank top, camisole, a tube top, a girdle, a short-sleeved shirt, a long-sleeved shirt, a swim top, or a crop top. In one embodiment, there is stitching above the pocket. In yet another embodiment, the garment has stitching below the pocket. In some embodiments the pocket is bordered by stitching on the bottom, top and middle of the front portion of the garment, with the top of the garment being the portion of the garment closest to the neck opening of the garment.

In other embodiments, the garment has stitching outlining the top of the pocket forming a pouch. In one embodiment, the pockets are located in the bottom portion of the front side of the garment and may cover the bottom third of the garment thereby allowing numerous items to be stored in the pockets or pouch, including but not limited to a smart phone, wallet, keys, cosmetics and other items.

In one embodiment, the pockets or pouch may be of any size. In one embodiment, the wearer's entire hands can slide easily in and out of the pockets or entry points to the pouch.

In some embodiments, the pockets may be secured with a fastening mechanism, including but not limited to a fastening fabric to prevent items from falling out when making more pronounced movements, such as when twisting, bending or jumping. In some embodiments, the bottom circumference of the garment may be lined with silicone gripping elastic or similar material to ensure that the garment does not creep up and items in the pocket or pouch remain secure when the wearer is in motion.

In one embodiment, the double layer of fabric of the front side of the garment is of the same compression fabric including but not limited to spandex, nylon or some other four-way stretch material.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a method of using the garment as an undergarment. By wearing the double layer compression fabric garment as an undergarment, the pocket or pouch contents, which will make bulges because of the compression fabric properties, can be concealed with a loose fitting outer layer. Wearing the double layer compression fabric garment as an undergarment adds to the security and safety of the wearer and the pocket or pouch contents, as the bulges from the pocket or pouch contents will be obscured from view and makes it difficult for thieves to access.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The apparatuses and methods disclosed herein will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which embodiments of the disclosure are shown. The apparatuses and methods disclosed herein may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein. Rather, these embodiments are provided so that the disclosure will be thorough and complete and will fully convey the scope of the invention to those skilled in the art.

It will be understood that when an element or layer is referred to as being “on”, “connected to” or “coupled to” another element or layer, it can be directly on, connected or coupled to the other element or layer. Alternatively, intervening elements or layers may be present. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being “directly on,” “directly connected to” or “directly coupled to” another element or layer, there are no intervening elements or layers present.

Like numbers refer to like elements throughout. As used herein, the term “and/or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed items.

It will be understood that, although the terms first, second, etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, components, regions, and/or sections, these elements, components, regions, and/or sections should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element, component, region, or section from another element, component, region, or section. Thus, a first element, component, region, or section discussed below could be termed a second element, component, region, or section without departing from the disclosure.

Spatially relative terms, such as “beneath,” “below,” “lower,” “above,” “upper,” and the like, may be used herein for ease of description to describe one element or feature's relationship to another element(s) or feature(s) as illustrated in the figures. It will be understood that the spatially relative terms are intended to encompass different orientations of the device in use or operation in addition to the orientation depicted in the figures. Definitions

The numerical ranges in this disclosure are approximate, and thus may include values outside of the range unless otherwise indicated. Numerical ranges include all values from and including the lower and the upper values, in increments of one unit, provided that there is a separation of at least two units between any lower value and any higher value. As an example, if a compositional, physical or other property, such as, for example, molecular weight, viscosity, etc., is from 100 to 1,000, it is intended that all individual values, such as 100, 101, 102, etc., and sub ranges, such as 100 to 144, 155 to 170, 197 to 200, etc., are expressly enumerated. For ranges containing values which are less than one or containing fractional numbers greater than one (e.g., 1.1, 1.5, etc.), one unit is considered to be 0.0001, 0.001, 0.01 or 0.1, as appropriate. As used herein, the term “compression fabric” refers to a high tenacity stretch fabric.

As used herein, a “reversible garment” is a garment that can be worn two ways, which differ by turning the garment “inside out.”

As used herein, the term “storage compartment” refers to an enclosure suitable for holding one or more items. In one embodiment, the storage compartment is a pocket. In another embodiment, the storage compartment is a pouch.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment having a front portion with a first layer of compression fabric and a second layer of compression fabric, wherein the first layer and second layer are stitched together, and a back portion with a single layer of fabric.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment having a front portion with a first layer of compression fabric and a second layer of compression fabric, wherein the first layer and second layer are stitched together, a front left side, a front right, a back portion with a single layer of fabric, a back left side, a back right side, and a neck opening.

In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment having a front portion with a double-layer of compression fabric, wherein the double layer of compression fabric creates a pocket or pouch and a back portion made of a single layer of fabric. In one embodiment, the back portion is made of a single layer of compression fabric. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a garment having a front portion with a first layer of compression fabric and a second layer of compression fabric, wherein the first layer and second layer create a pocket or pouch and a back portion with a single layer of fabric. In one embodiment, the first layer of compression fabric and second layer of compression fabric are made of the same type of compression fabric. In one embodiment, the first layer of compression fabric and second layer of compression fabric are made of different types of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, the garment is comprised of a front side with two fabric layers; an inner fabric layer in contact with the user's body and an outer fabric layer attached therewith and a back side made of a single layer of fabric. In one embodiment, the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer of the front portion of the garment can create a pocket or pouch.

In one embodiment, the inner layer and outer layer of the front of the garment are made of the same type of compression fabric. In yet another embodiment, the inner layer and the outer layer of the front of the garment are made of different types of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is created by leaving an opening between the inner layer and outer layer on either the right side or the left or both the left and right sides of the front portion of the garment. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is at the side seam. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is at the front left side seam. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is at the front right side seam. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is at both the front and left side seams.

In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located about three-fourths of the way down the garment from the neck opening. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located about at about the bottom one-fourth portion of the garment. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located at about the center of the garment. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located at about the top one fourth portion of the garment.

In one embodiment, the entry point of the pocket or pouch is large enough for the wearer's entire hand to fit inside the pocket or pouch. In one embodiment, seams around the pocket define the pocket from the rest of the garment. There may be a seam in the middle of the pocket that has an entry point on each side of the wearer's body, creating two separate pockets, one on the right side of the wearer's body and one on the left side of the wearer's body. Placing the pockets in a garment worn on the upper body alleviates the concern that pocket contents will fall out.

In one embodiment, the double-layer fabric compression fabric garment may be used as an undergarment to conceal pocket contents and relieve the wearer from carrying or wearing a handbag, or purse, or other external pack, belt or bag. However, the invention is not intended to be limited thereto as it may be worn and used as a supportive or shaping garment on a daily basis and/or for a variety of activities.

Materials or fabrics that can be used to construct a garment as disclosed herein include, without limitation: spandex, elastane yarns, lycra, cotton, polyester, nylon, rayon, viscose, Dry Fit polyester, bamboo, supplex, tactel, organic cotton, tencel, polyamide, Power Net, Power Mesh, leg elastic, Revolutional Slim (anti-cellulite fabric), or any combination thereof. A garment of the invention can be produced from fabric having the forgoing material at about the following percentages: 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 80, 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90, 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, and 100. A garment of the invention can be produced from fabric having spandex, elastane, Italian lycra, spandura, equestrian lycra, wicking lycra, cotton lycra, supplex lycra, super stretch spandex, Poly Net, Poly Mesh, and leg elastic at about the following percentages, for example: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 39, and 40.

In some embodiments, the garment comprises sufficient synthetic fibers to provide adequate compression on the garment wearer. In some embodiments, the garment comprises an elastomer. In some embodiments, the elastomer is spandex. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a spandex blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a polyester/spandex blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a nylon/spandex blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a rayon/spandex blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a nylon/lycra blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a polyester/lycra blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises a rayon/lycra blend. In some embodiments, the garment comprises 50% or less of spandex (e.g., 40% or less, 35% or less, 30% or less, 25% or less, 20% or less, or 15% or less). In some embodiments, the garment comprises 10% or greater of spandex (e.g., 15% or greater, 20% or greater, 25% or greater, 30% or greater, 35% or greater, or 40% or greater). In some embodiments, the garment comprises 90% or less of nylon (e.g., 85% or less, 80% or less, 75% or less, 70% or less, or 60% or less). In some embodiments, the garment comprises 50% or greater of nylon (e.g., 60% or greater, 65% or greater, 70% or greater, 75% or greater, 80% or greater, or 85% or greater). In some embodiments, the garment comprises 40% or less of polyester (e.g., 30% or less, 25% or less, 20% or less, 15% or less, or 10% or less). In some embodiments, the garment comprises 5% or greater of polyester (e.g., 10% or greater, 15% or greater, 20% or greater, 25% or greater, 30% or greater, or 35% or greater). In some embodiments, the garment comprises modal, rayon, and spandex.

In some embodiments, the garment can have a built-in shelf bra. In other embodiments, the garment can have removable bra cups. In some embodiments, the garment can have adjustable bra straps.

FIG. 1 is a representative illustration of a double-layer fabric garment according to the disclosure. FIG. 1 is a representative depiction of a tank top. FIG. 1 and FIG. 5 show a garment having a front portion comprised of an inner fabric layer and an outer fabric layer made of a compression fabric including but not limited to a polyester/spandex blend, and a back portion made of a single layer of compression fabric. The compression fabric of the outer layer and the inner layer can be made of the same compression fabric or different types of compression fabric. The compression fabric is any suitable fabric that has four-way stretching and retracting (compression) properties, non-limiting examples of which include Lycra, Elastane, Nylon and Spandex.

FIG. 1 is the front view of the double-layer fabric garment presented as a tank top and provides a cross-sectional view of the double-layer fabric garment 100. As shown in FIG. 1, the inner fabric layer (first layer of compression fabric) 102 and the outer fabric layer (second layer of compression fabric) 104 are overlaid with one another. Although overlaid, the inner and outer fabric layers 102 and 104 are not connected in their entirety.

In one embodiment, there is a curved opening on the right 106 and left side 108 of the garment. In one embodiment, the curved opening on the right side 106 and left side 108 of the garment is about three-fourths of the way down the garment. In one embodiment, the curved openings are large enough to easily fit an entire hand in between the two layers of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, a stitch line 110 extends just below the middle of the garment, but above the openings, which extends from the left to right side. This stitch line stitches the inner and outer layer together. A second stitch line 112 is located under the openings and also extends from the left to right side of the garment and is stitched through both layers of fabric.

In some embodiments, a third stitch line 114 extends down the middle of the garment starting from the upper stitch line 110 to the lower stitch line 112. This middle, vertical stitch line 114 also stitches the inner and outer layer of fabric together and in effect, forms two separate pockets. Without the middle stitch line, the left and right side openings form a pouch.

In one embodiment, the garment has a third stitch line 114 that extends down the middle of the garment starting from the upper stitch line 110 to the lower stitch line 112 creating a pocket on the front right side and the front left side of the garment. In one embodiment, the pocket is about 3 inches from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening. In one embodiment, the pocket is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening.

In one embodiment, the pocket is about 2 inches, 2.5 inches, 3.5 inches, 4 inches, 4.5 inches, 5 inches and greater than 5 inches from the top of the opening to the bottom of the opening.

In one embodiment, the pocket is at least 2 inches from the top of the opening of the pocket to the bottom of the opening of the pocket.

In one embodiment, the pocket is 5 inches or less from the top of the opening of the pocket to the bottom of the opening of the pocket.

In one embodiment, the pocket is from about 2 inches to about 4.5 inches from the top of the opening of the pocket to the bottom of the opening of the pocket.

In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located at about the waist of the wearer of the garment. In one embodiment, the pocket or pouch is located at about the hips of the wearer of the garment.

In some embodiments, the pocket or pouch openings on the right side, the left side or both the right and left sides of the garment may be lined with a fastening mechanism including but not limited to a hook and loop soft fabric fastening system, a zipper, snaps, hooks, button-buttonhole, magnetic fastener, a buckle, and a loop-tie. The fastening mechanism helps to close the openings for additional security when items are stored in the storage compartment between the inner and outer layers of fabric.

A conventional hook and loop fastening method is composed of a hook sheet and a soft loop sheet so that the hook sheet and the loop sheet are coupled and separated from each other, and is also called a snap.

In some embodiments, the bottom circumference of the garment may be lined on the inside with silicone gripping elastic 116 or similar material to ensure that the garment does not creep up and pocket or pouch contents stay secure when the wearer is in motion.

FIG. 2 is a representative illustration of the back side of the garment, showing only a single layer of fabric 202.

FIG. 3 is a representative illustration of a right side view of the garment, showing the right side opening 106 between the two layers of fabric that exist in the front of the garment, and the beginning of the upper and lower stitch lines.

FIG. 4 is a representative illustration of a left side view of the garment, showing the left side opening 108 between the two layers of fabric that exist in the front of the garment, as well as the end of the upper and lower stitch lines.

FIG. 5 is a representative illustration of the inner layer of compression fabric and the outer layer of compression fabric, wherein the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric form the front portion of the garment and the back portion of the garment, which is made of a single layer of compression fabric.

In one embodiment, the garment disclosed herein has a front side with a double-layer of compression fabric, with the double layer of compression fabric existing only on the front side of the garment. The back portion of the garment only has a single layer of compression fabric. The back portion does not have more than one layer of compression fabric.

The garment having a front side with a double layer of compression fabric has an opening from the stitching on the left and right side near the front waist of the wearer. An upper stitch line above the opening and a lower stitch line below the opening, both of which stitch through both layers of fabric create a pouch between both layers of fabric that can hold a wearer's items, including essential items, such as phone, wallet, keys and other small items. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a method of creating a storage compartment in an upper body garment comprising: sewing an inner layer of compression fabric to an outer layer of compression fabric to create a front of the upper body garment; leaving an opening at the left side seam and right side seam of the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric; and sewing a back portion having a single piece of compression fabric to the front portion.

In another embodiment, the method further comprises comprising sewing an upper stitch line above the left and the right side openings and sewing a lower stitch line below the left and ride side openings.

In still another embodiment, the method further comprises sewing a vertical stitch line that goes through the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric and intersects the middle of the upper stitch line and the lower stitch line creating a right side compartment and a left side compartment.

In yet another embodiment, the method further comprises inserting or attaching a fastening mechanism to the left side opening and the right side opening.

While multiple embodiments of a garment have been described in detail, it should be apparent that modifications and variations thereto are possible, all of which fall within the true spirit and scope of the invention. With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of the invention, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by the present invention. Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the invention. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the invention to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the invention.

Claims

1. A garment comprising: a front portion having an inner layer of compression fabric and an outer layer of compression fabric, a right side, a left side and a back portion with a single layer of compression fabric.

2. The garment of claim 1, wherein said front portion contains an opening between the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric on at least one of the left and right sides.

3. The garment of claim 1, wherein said front portion contains an opening between the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric on both the left and the right sides.

4. The garment of claim 3, wherein the opening on both the left and right sides is rounded.

5. The garment of claim 3, further comprising an upper stitch line above the left and the right side openings and a lower stitch line below the left and ride side openings.

6. The garment of claim 5, further comprising a vertical stitch line that goes through the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric and intersects the middle of the upper stitch line and the lower stitch line creating a right side storage compartment and a left side storage compartment.

7. The garment of claim 1, wherein the inner layer of compression fabric and the outer layer of compression fabric are selected from the group consisting of spandex, elastane yarns, lycra, cotton, polyester, nylon, rayon, viscose, dry fit polyester and combinations thereof.

8. The garment of claim 6, wherein the left side opening and the right side opening are lined with a fastening mechanism.

9. The garment of claim 8, wherein the garment is selected from the group consisting of a t-shirt, a tank top, a long-sleeved shirt, a swim shirt, a girdle and a dress.

10. The garment of claim 8, wherein the garment is a tank top.

11. The garment of claim 8, wherein the opening on the left and right sides is about 3.25 inches from the top of the opening to bottom of the opening.

12. The garment of claim 1, wherein the garment is not a brassiere.

13. The garment of claim 8, further comprising an elastic silicone waist band at the bottom inside of the garment.

14. The garment of claim 13, wherein the inner layer and outer layer of compression fabric are made of the same compression fabric and are the same color.

15. The garment of claim 13, wherein the garment is not a reversible garment.

16. A method of storing an item comprising: placing an item in at least one of the right side compartment or left side storage compartment located in the front portion of the garment of claim 8.

17. A method of storing an item comprising: placing an item in at least one of the right side compartment or left side storage compartment located in the front portion of the garment of claim 13.
