A covered infant swing, including a support frame, a seat detachably connected to at least a portion of the support frame to receive an infant thereon, a plurality of cables connected at a first end to the support frame and connected at a second end to the seat to suspend the seat from the support frame and facilitate movement of the seat with respect to the support frame, and a covering member movably disposed on at least a portion of the support frame to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended over the support frame and the seat in a second position, and move from extended over the support frame and the seat in the second position to retracted in the first position.

Description
CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application claims priority under 35 USC § 120 from U.S. Provisional Application No. 63/218,475, entitled “Covered Infant Swing,” which was filed on Jul. 5, 2021, in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein in its entirety by reference.

BACKGROUND 1. Field

The present general inventive concept relates generally to a seat, and particularly, to a covered infant swing.

2. Description of the Related Art

For many families, a trip to a pool and/or a beach are some of the most enjoyable activities to do. However, these activities are also extremely dangerous for children and anxiety-producing for parents and/or other caregivers. The beach and/or an outdoor pool exposes a child to harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation and excessive heat, which can result in a sunburn, heat stroke, dehydration, and/or death.

Conventional child seats provide comfort for infants by allowing them to be occupied within the child seat. However, the conventional child seats lack a covering and/or other means of cooling that would protect the infant from UV radiation and excessive heat.

Therefore, there is a need for a covered infant swing to protect the infant while sitting in an outdoor environment.

SUMMARY

The present general inventive concept provides a covered infant swing.

Additional features and utilities of the present general inventive concept will be set forth in part in the description which follows and, in part, will be obvious from the description, or may be learned by practice of the general inventive concept.

The foregoing and/or other features and utilities of the present general inventive concept may be achieved by providing a covered infant swing, including a support frame, a seat detachably connected to at least a portion of the support frame to receive an infant thereon, a plurality of cables connected at a first end to the support frame and connected at a second end to the seat to suspend the seat from the support frame and facilitate movement of the seat with respect to the support frame, and a covering member movably disposed on at least a portion of the support frame to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended over the support frame and the seat in a second position, and move from extended over the support frame and the seat in the second position to retracted in the first position.

The support frame may include a lateral bar disposed over the seat, a first leg disposed on at least a portion of a first end of the lateral bar to support the lateral bar, and a second leg disposed on at least a portion of a second end of the lateral bar to support the lateral bar.

The first leg and the second leg may each include a movable joint to move from extended away from the lateral bar in a first position to at least partially retracted toward the lateral bar in a second position, and move from retracted toward the lateral bar in the second position to extended away from the lateral bar in the first position.

The covered infant swing may further include at least one fan disposed on at least a portion of the support frame to blow air toward the seat in response to being turned on.

The covered infant swing may further include a plurality of shades disposed on at least a portion of a first side and a second side of the covering member to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended in a second position, and move from extended in the second position to retracted in the first position.

The covered infant swing may further include at least one sensor connected to at least a portion of the plurality of shades to move the plurality of shades from retracted in the first position to at least partially extended in the second position in response to the at least one sensor detecting a temperature level around the seat and extending up to the covering member exceeding a predetermined temperature level.

Various example embodiments (a.k.a., exemplary embodiments) will now be described more fully with reference to the accompanying drawings in which some example embodiments are illustrated. In the figures, the thicknesses of lines, layers and/or regions may be exaggerated for clarity.

Accordingly, while example embodiments are capable of various modifications and alternative forms, embodiments thereof are shown by way of example in the figures and will herein be described in detail. It should be understood, however, that there is no intent to limit example embodiments to the particular forms disclosed, but on the contrary, example embodiments are to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the scope of the disclosure. Like numbers refer to like/similar elements throughout the detailed description.

It is understood that when an element is referred to as being “connected” or “coupled” to another element, it can be directly connected or coupled to the other element or intervening elements may be present. In contrast, when an element is referred to as being “directly connected” or “directly coupled” to another element, there are no intervening elements present. Other words used to describe the relationship between elements should be interpreted in a like fashion (e.g., “between” versus “directly between,” “adjacent” versus “directly adjacent,” etc.).

FIG. 1 illustrates a top isometric view of a covered infant swing 100, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present general inventive concept.

The covered infant swing 100 may be constructed from at least one of metal, plastic, wood, glass, and rubber, etc., but is not limited thereto.

The covered infant swing 100 may include a support frame 110, a seat 120, a detachable tray 130, a plurality of cables 140, a covering member 150, at least one fan 160, a plurality of shades 170, at least one sensor 180, and a power source 190, but is not limited thereto.

The support frame 110 may include a lateral bar 111, a first leg 112, a second leg 113, and a plurality of wheels 114, but is not limited thereto.

The lateral bar 111 may have a predetermined size (e.g., length, width, diameter) to be larger than a size of an infant and/or a toddler.

The first leg 112 may include a first movable joint 112a, but is not limited thereto.

The first leg 112 may be disposed on at least a portion of a first end of the lateral bar 111. Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the first movable joint 112a may move (i.e. pivot and/or rotate) from extended away from the lateral bar 111 in a first position to at least partially retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in a second position. Conversely, the first movable joint 112a may move from retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in the second position to extended away from the lateral bar 111 in the first position.

Referring again to FIG. 1, it is important to note that each portion of the first leg 112 connected to the first movable joint 112a may be longitudinally disposed with respect to each other while the first movable joint 112a is in the first position. Referring again to FIG. 2, however, each portion of the first leg 112 connected to the first movable joint 112a may be angularly disposed with respect to each other while the first movable joint 112a is in the second position.

The second leg 113 may include a second movable joint 113a, but is not limited thereto.

The second leg 113 may be disposed on at least a portion of a second end of the lateral bar 111. Referring again to FIGS. 1 and 2, the second movable joint 113a may move (i.e. pivot and/or rotate) from extended away from the lateral bar 111 in a first position to at least partially retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in a second position. Conversely, the second movable joint 113a may move from retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in the second position to extended away from the lateral bar 111 in the first position.

Referring again to FIG. 1, it is important to note that each portion of the second leg 113 connected to the second movable joint 113a may be longitudinally disposed with respect to each other while the second movable joint 113a is in the first position. Referring again to FIG. 2, however, each portion of the second leg 113 connected to the second movable joint 113a may be angularly disposed with respect to each other while the second movable joint 113a is in the second position.

The plurality of wheels 114 may be disposed on corner portions of the first leg 112 and/or the second leg 113. The plurality of wheels 114 may facilitate movement across a surface, such as a ground surface.

The seat 120 may include a back rest 121 and a seatbelt 122, but is not limited thereto.

The seat 120 may be detachably connected to at least a portion of the lateral bar 111. The seat 120 may receive the infant and/or the toddler thereon.

The back rest 121 may be pivotally disposed on at least a portion of the seat 120. The back rest 121 may support a back of the infant and/or the toddler thereon. Moreover, the back rest 121 may pivot from upright in a first position to at least partially reclined in a second position. Conversely, the back rest 121 may pivot from reclined in the second position to upright in the first position.

The seatbelt 122 may be disposed on at least a portion of the seat 120 and/or the back rest 121. The seatbelt 122 may fasten the infant and/or the toddler to the seat 120. In other words, the seatbelt 122 may connect around at least a portion of a body of the infant and/or the toddler to prevent the infant and/or the toddler from moving (i.e. falling) away from the seat 120.

The detachable tray 130 may be detachably connected to at least a portion of the seat 120. The detachable tray 130 may be a planar surface to receive at least one item (e.g., food, beverages, toys) thereon.

The plurality of cables 140 may be connected at a first end to the lateral bar 111 and connected at a second end to the seat 120. The plurality of cables 140 may connect the seat 120 to the lateral bar 111, such that the seat 120 may be suspended from the lateral bar 111. Additionally, the plurality of cables 140 may facilitate movement of the seat 120 with respect to the lateral bar 111. In other words, the plurality of cables 140 may allow the seat 120 to swing.

The covering member 150 may include an umbrella, a shade, and an awning, but is not limited thereto.

The covering member 150 may be movably disposed on at least a portion of the lateral bar 111. The covering member 150 may move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended over the support frame 110 and/or the seat 120 in a second position. Conversely, the covering member 150 may move from extended over the support frame 110 and/or the seat 120 in the second position to retracted in the first position. Also, the covering member 150 may fold, bend, expand, and/or collapse (e.g., umbrella) based on a type of the covering member 150. Accordingly, the covering member 150 may prevent UV radiation from reaching the infant and/or the toddler within the seat 120 and/or heat stroke.

The at least one fan 160 may be disposed on at least a portion of the support frame 110. The at least one fan 160 may blow air toward the seat 120 in response to being turned on. As such, the at least one fan 160 may lower a temperature level around the seat 120. Therefore, the at least one fan 160 may cool down the infant and/or the toddler.

Each of the plurality of shades 170 may include a roller, but is not limited thereto.

The plurality of shades 170 may be disposed on at least a portion of a first side and/or a second side of the covering member 150. The plurality of shades 170 may move (i.e. slide) from retracted within a roller in a first position to at least partially extended away from the roller in a second position. Conversely, the plurality of shades 170 may move from extended away from the roller in the second position to retracted within the roller in the first position.

The at least one sensor 180 may include a temperature sensor, but is not limited thereto.

The at least one sensor 180 may be connected to at least a portion of the plurality of shades 170. Moreover, the plurality of shades 170 may move from retracted within the roller in the first position to at least partially extended away from the roller in the second position in response to the at least one sensor 180 detecting the temperature level around the seat 120 and/or extending up to the covering member 150 exceeding a predetermined temperature level. Optionally, the at least one sensor 180 may be connected to the at least one fan 160, such that the at least one fan 160 may turn on in response to the at least one sensor 180 detecting the temperature level around the seat 120 and/or extending up to the covering member 150 exceeding the predetermined temperature level. For example, the predetermined temperature level may be at least eighty degrees. Alternatively, the at least one sensor 180 may be adjusted to change the predetermined temperature level.

The power source 190 may include a battery and a solar cell, but is not limited thereto.

The power source 190 may be detachably connected to at least a portion of the support frame 110. The power source 190 may provide power to the at least one fan 160, the plurality of shades 170, and/or the at least one sensor 180.

Therefore, the covered infant swing 100 may protect the infant and/or the toddler from harmful UV radiation and/or overheating while seated in an outdoor environment.

The present general inventive concept may include a covered infant swing 100, including a support frame 110, a seat 120 detachably connected to at least a portion of the support frame 110 to receive an infant thereon, a plurality of cables 140 connected at a first end to the support frame 110 and connected at a second end to the seat 120 to suspend the seat 120 from the support frame 110 and facilitate movement of the seat 120 with respect to the support frame 110, and a covering member 150 movably disposed on at least a portion of the support frame 110 to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended over the support frame 110 and the seat 120 in a second position, and move from extended over the support frame 110 and the seat 120 in the second position to retracted in the first position.

The support frame 110 may include a lateral bar 111 disposed over the seat 120, a first leg 112 disposed on at least a portion of a first end of the lateral bar 111 to support the lateral bar 111, and a second leg 113 disposed on at least a portion of a second end of the lateral bar 111 to support the lateral bar 111.

The first leg 112 and the second leg 113 may each include a movable joint 112a/113a to move from extended away from the lateral bar 111 in a first position to at least partially retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in a second position, and move from retracted toward the lateral bar 111 in the second position to extended away from the lateral bar 111 in the first position.

The covered infant swing 100 may further include at least one fan 160 disposed on at least a portion of the support frame 110 to blow air toward the seat 120 in response to being turned on.

The covered infant swing 100 may further include a plurality of shades 170 disposed on at least a portion of a first side and a second side of the covering member 150 to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended in a second position, and move from extended in the second position to retracted in the first position.

The covered infant swing 100 may further include at least one sensor 180 connected to at least a portion of the plurality of shades 170 to move the plurality of shades 170 from retracted in the first position to at least partially extended in the second position in response to the at least one sensor 180 detecting a temperature level around the seat 120 and extending up to the covering member 150 exceeding a predetermined temperature level.

Although a few embodiments of the present general inventive concept have been shown and described, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in these embodiments without departing from the principles and spirit of the general inventive concept, the scope of which is defined in the appended claims and their equivalents.

Claims

1. A covered infant swing, comprising:

a support frame;
a seat detachably connected to at least a portion of the support frame to receive an infant thereon;
a plurality of cables connected at a first end to the support frame and connected at a second end to the seat to suspend the seat from the support frame and facilitate movement of the seat with respect to the support frame; and
a covering member movably disposed on at least a portion of the support frame to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended over the support frame and the seat in a second position, and move from extended over the support frame and the seat in the second position to retracted in the first position.

2. The covered infant swing of claim 1, wherein the support frame comprises:

a lateral bar disposed over the seat;
a first leg disposed on at least a portion of a first end of the lateral bar to support the lateral bar; and
a second leg disposed on at least a portion of a second end of the lateral bar to support the lateral bar.

3. The covered infant swing of claim 2, wherein the first leg and the second leg each comprise:

a movable joint to move from extended away from the lateral bar in a first position to at least partially retracted toward the lateral bar in a second position, and move from retracted toward the lateral bar in the second position to extended away from the lateral bar in the first position.

4. The covered infant swing of claim 1, further comprising:

at least one fan disposed on at least a portion of the support frame to blow air toward the seat in response to being turned on.

5. The covered infant swing of claim 1, further comprising:

a plurality of shades disposed on at least a portion of a first side and a second side of the covering member to move from retracted in a first position to at least partially extended in a second position, and move from extended in the second position to retracted in the first position.

6. The covered infant swing of claim 5, further comprising:

at least one sensor connected to at least a portion of the plurality of shades to move the plurality of shades from retracted in the first position to at least partially extended in the second position in response to the at least one sensor detecting a temperature level around the seat and extending up to the covering member exceeding a predetermined temperature level.
