Abstract

A disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering is provided to be used specifically for the headrest of a barber-chair. The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering will be used to cover the headrest of the barber-chair before each service to prevent the cross-contamination of germs, hair debris, and infectious disease that can be transmitted from the head, scalp, or/and hair. The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering will also minimize erosion and damage to the barber-chair caused by chemical build-up. The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering will be made of material that is disposable, inexpensive, and flexible, with an elastic (or similar) band adhesive or sown in at the edges for flexibility. The elasticity allows the covering to hug the headrest of the barber-chair and be close-fitting. It can be applied by opening the elastic edges of the invention and sliding it onto the barber-chair headrest.

Description

The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering is used specifically on the headrest of the barber-chair to protect the barbershop environment and it's clients from the transmission and spread of grease, hair debris, germs, and infectious diseases when clients are being serviced in the barber-chair. The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering can be fabricated from a wide variety of different materials that is flexible and disposable with the edges sealed with an elastic band or similar.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

This invention relates specifically to disposable protective coverings and accessories used for a barber-chair headrest for the prevention of cross-contamination of grease, dirt, germs, and/or infectious diseases between clients while being serviced.

The disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering is intended to provide protection to the barbershop environment and it's clients. When a barber services a client for a haircut, shave, hot towel treatment, face cleansing, or facial the back of the client's head is set against the headrest of the barber-chair. A barber can service multiple clients daily which creates a high risk for cross-contamination. The scalp, head, and hair of the client can contain grease, dirt, germs, and infectious diseases.

Furthermore, the disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering will minimize the erosion and damage to the Barber-chair from wear and tear. The headrest of the barber-chair erodes and becomes damaged from the use of chemicals used from barber supply and product residue leftover from client's hair and scalp.

BACKGROUND OF INVENTION

Every barbershop in the United States is governed by the rules of that municipality. According to municipality ordinances, all combs, and hairbrushes must be sterilized by hair establishments after being used in grooming the client. Sterilization by ultraviolet rays or sterilizing antiseptic liquid cleanses the grooming instrument preventing the spread of another client's dirt or oils, disease or contamination to new clients' scalps.

There are no measures being taken at this time to prevent cross-contamination of the barber-chair headrest when it is an instrument that is frequently used by barbers for the service of clients.

Barber-chairs, upon which clients are seated for grooming service are each provides with a headrest usually comprising one medium size apparatus attached to the back part of the barber-chair that can be adjusted and taken off, made of hard material with cushion for the head of the client to be supported while being serviced. Since the headrest is frequently used by the barber for clients, there is a high risk for grease, dirt, germs, or infectious diseases that can develop in the scalp, head, and hair that can be transmitted.

It should be sanitary practice for the barber to cover the elements that constitute the barber-chair headrest each time they perform a service. There are no protective coverings for the headrest of the barber-chair. Each of the disposable materials is the size to fit the headrest member. The edge of the material will have elastic band secured thereto by sewing or adhesive means for adaptability with which the protective covering is retained on the headrest member in adjusted position.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

With this in mind, it is the principal object of the present invention to provide sanitary protective coverings for the headrest of the barber-chair to prevent the cross-contamination of tainted grease, dirt, germs, and/or infectious diseases.

It's further aimed at the present invention to provide a disposable protective covering for the purpose referred to which can be placed into its operative position quickly, effectively, and easily removed.

And a yet further purpose of the present invention besides in thee novel sanitary protective covering for the purpose referred to which can be used to prevent wear and damage of barber-chair headrest.

1. A disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering comprising: A 15 inch×12 inch sheet of non-woven polypropylene material, and a tape of elastomeric material, wherein said non woven material is folded along the edges and sealed by stitching or adhesion, and said tape of elastomeric material is inserted into or adhered onto the woven polypropylene material to hug tightly onto any headrest of barber-chair. A hygienic kit for a headrest is far different from a disposable barber-chair headrest protective covering. Moreover, a vehicle headrest is different from a barber-chair headrest.

Further, the claimed invention is not in public use for sale, nor is it available to the public. I am a licensed Cosmetologist/Barber, and I have been in the industry for thirty years. The claimed invention is not for sale to the public nor available to the public. Infectious diseases, and hair and scalp disorders are being transmitted from the multiple heads touching the barber-chair headrest attachment. This is a problem that needs to be solved and addressed.

The Examiner also referred to Mentz, in which the prior art relates to a roll of tissue being attached to the barber chair. A roll of tissue is not identical to the claimed invention.
