Upper Body Garment Assembly

Abstract

An upper body garment assembly for integrating a backpack into a garment includes a garment that has a body and a pair of sleeves. A pair of first mating members is each coupled to the body of the garment. A backpack is provided that has a plurality of storage compartments for storing objects. A pair of second mating members is provided each of the second mating members is disposed on the backpack. Each of the second mating members releasably engages a respective one of the first mating members for attaching the backpack to the body of the garment.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to garment devices and more particularly pertains to a new garment device for integrating a backpack into a garment. The device includes a garment and a pair of first mating members coupled to the garment. The device additionally includes a backpack and a pair of second mating members coupled to the backpack. Each of the second mating members engages a respective first mating member for attaching the backpack to the garment.

The prior art relates to garment devices including a garment to which a pair of backpacks can be attached. The prior art discloses a variety of upper body garments that include a backpack that is integrated into the upper body garment. The prior art discloses a backpack that includes a hood for wearing on a user’s head. In no instance does the prior art disclose a garment with first mating members and a backpack with second mating members such that the second mating members engage the first mating members for attaching the backpack to the garment.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a garment that has a body and a pair of sleeves. A pair of first mating members is each coupled to the body of the garment. A backpack is provided that has a plurality of storage compartments for storing objects. A pair of second mating members is provided each of the second mating members is disposed on the backpack. Each of the second mating members releasably engages a respective one of the first mating members for attaching the backpack to the body of the garment.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new garment device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the upper body garment assembly 10 generally comprises a garment 12 that has a body 14 and a pair of sleeves 16 such that the garment 12 can be worn on a user’s upper body, and the body 14 has a front side 18 and a back side 20. As is most clearly shown in FIGS. 1 through 5, the garment 12 may include a hood 22 that is aligned with a neck opening 24 in the garment 12 and each of the sleeves 16 may be elongated such that a cuff 26 of the sleeves 16 is aligned with a waist 28 of the garment 12. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 6, the garment 12 may include a collar 30 that extends around a substantial circumference of the neck opening 24. Additionally, as is shown in FIG. 6, each of the sleeves 16 may have a length that is sufficiently short such that the cuff 26 of the sleeves 16 is positioned between the waist 28 and the neck opening 24.

A pair of first mating members 32 is provided and each of the first mating members 32 is coupled to the body 14 of the garment 12. Each of the first mating members 32 is positioned on the back side 20 of the body 14 and each of the first mating members 32 is oriented parallel to each other. Furthermore, the first mating members 32 are spaced positioned adjacent to a respective one of the waist 28 and the neck opening 24 of the body 14. Each of the first mating members 32 may comprise a zipper, a hook and loop fastener or any other sort of mechanical fastener.

A backpack 34 is provided that has a plurality of storage compartments 36 integrated into the backpack 34 for storing objects. The backpack 34 has a front wall 36, a back wall 38 and an outer wall 40 extending between the front wall 36 and the back wall 38, and the outer wall 40 has a top side 42, a bottom side 44, a first lateral side 46 and a second lateral side 48. The outer wall 40 has a cut 50 extending into an interior of the backpack 34 to define a respective one of the storage compartments 36. The cut 50 extends along the top side 42 and downwardly along each of the first lateral side 46 and the second lateral side 48.

A first pocket 52 is positioned on the back wall 38 of the backpack 34 to define a respective one of the storage compartments 36. The first pocket 52 has a distal wall 54 with respect to the back wall 38. A pair of second pockets 56 is each coupled to the distal wall 54 to define respective ones of the storage compartments 36. The backpack 34 includes a panel 58 that is mounted to the front wall 36. The panel 58 has a top edge 60 that is spaced upwardly from the top side 42 of the outer wall 40 and the panel 58 has a bottom edge 62 that is spaced downwardly from the bottom side 44 of the outer wall 40.

A pair of second mating members 64 is provided and each of the second mating members 64 is disposed on the backpack 34. Each of the second mating members 64 releasably engages a respective one of the first mating members 32 for attaching the backpack 34 to the body 14 of the garment 12. Additionally, each of the second mating members 64 is positioned on the panel 58. Each of the second mating members 64 is coextensive with a respective one of the top edge 60 and the bottom edge 62 of the panel 58. Additionally, each of the second mating members 64 may comprise a zipper, a hook and loop fastener, or any other type of mechanical fastener that is complementary to the first mating members 32.

In use, each of the second mating members 64 is mated to the first mating members 32 to attach the backpack 34 to the garment 12. In this way the objects that are stored in the backpack 34 will be carried anytime the garment 12 is worn, thereby reducing the likelihood that the objects will be inadvertently left behind. Each of the second mating members 64 can be unmated from the first mating members 32 at any time to facilitate the garment 12 to be worn without carrying the backpack 34.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. An upper body garment assembly having a backpack being removably attached for transporting a plurality of objects, said assembly comprising:

a garment having a body and a pair of sleeves wherein said garment is configured to be worn on a user’s upper body;

a pair of first mating members, each of said first mating members being coupled to said body of said garment;

a backpack having a plurality of storage compartments being integrated into said backpack wherein said storage compartments are configured to store objects; and

a pair of second mating members, each of said second mating members being disposed on said backpack, each of said second mating members releasably engaging a respective one of said first mating members for attaching said backpack to said body of said garment.

2. The assembly according to claim 1, further comprising:

said body has a front side and a back side, said front side having a closure extending vertically along a full height of said front side for opening and closing said front side; and

each of said first mating members is positioned on said back side of said body, each of said first mating members being oriented parallel to each other, said first mating members being spaced positioned adjacent to a respective one of a waist and a neck opening of said body.

3. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein:

said backpack has a front wall, a back wall and an outer wall extending between said front wall and said back wall, said outer wall having a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said outer wall having a cut extending into an interior of said backpack to define a respective one of said storage compartments, said cut extending along said top side and downwardly along each of said first lateral side and said second lateral side;

said backpack has a first pocket being positioned on said back wall to define a respective one of said storage compartments, said first pocket having a distal wall with respect to said back wall;

said first pocket has a pair of second pockets each being coupled to said distal wall to define respective ones of said storage compartments;

said backpack includes a panel being mounted to said front wall, said panel having a top edge being spaced upwardly from said top side of said outer wall, said panel having a bottom edge being spaced downwardly from said bottom side of said outer wall.

4. The assembly according to claim 3, wherein each of said second mating members is positioned on said panel, each of said second mating members being coextensive with a respective one of said top edge and said bottom edge of said panel.

5. An upper body garment assembly having a backpack being removably attached for transporting a plurality of objects, said assembly comprising:

a garment having a body and a pair of sleeves wherein said garment is configured to be worn on a user’s upper body, said body having a front side and a back side;

a pair of first mating members, each of said first mating members being coupled to said body of said garment, each of said first mating members being positioned on said back side of said body, each of said first mating members being oriented parallel to each other, said first mating members being spaced positioned adjacent to a respective one of a waist and a neck opening of said body;

a backpack having a plurality of storage compartments being integrated into said backpack wherein said storage compartments are configured to store objects, said backpack having a front wall, a back wall and an outer wall extending between said front wall and said back wall, said outer wall having a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said outer wall having a cut extending into an interior of said backpack to define a respective one of said storage compartments, said cut extending along said top side and downwardly along each of said first lateral side and said second lateral side, said backpack having a first pocket being positioned on said back wall to define a respective one of said storage compartments, said first pocket having a distal wall with respect to said back wall, said first pocket having a pair of second pockets each being coupled to said distal wall to define respective ones of said storage compartments, said backpack including a panel being mounted to said front wall, said panel having a top edge being spaced upwardly from said top side of said outer wall, said panel having a bottom edge being spaced downwardly from said bottom side of said outer wall; and

a pair of second mating members, each of said second mating members being disposed on said backpack, each of said second mating members releasably engaging a respective one of said first mating members for attaching said backpack to said body of said garment, each of said second mating members being positioned on said panel, each of said second mating members being coextensive with a respective one of said top edge and said bottom edge of said panel.

6. The assembly according to claim 5, wherein said garment includes a hood being aligned with said neck opening, each of said sleeves being elongated such that a cuff of said sleeves is aligned with said waist.

7. The assembly according to claim 5, wherein said garment includes a collar extending around a substantial circumference of said neck opening, each of said sleeves having a length being sufficiently short such that a cuff of said sleeves is positioned between said waist and said neck opening.
