BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to punching bag wrapping devices and more particularly pertains to a new punching bag wrapping device for improving striking techniques. The present invention discloses a punching bag wrapping device comprising a flexible, reflective panel, which can be wrapped around and attached to a punching bag. The panel allows the user to see their own reflection while striking the punching bag.

(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to punching bag wrapping devices. Prior art punching bag wrapping devices may comprise housings, covers and wraps upon which indicia or figures are positioned to indicate target striking areas. The prior art also comprises flexible mirrors as wells as suntanning towels and suntanning mats having reflective surfaces. What is lacking in the prior art is a punching bag wrapping device comprising a flexible, reflective panel, which can be wrapped around and attached to a punching bag. The panel allows the user to see their own reflection while striking the punching bag.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a panel, which is resiliently flexible and thus is configured to conform to a contour of a punching bag. The panel is reflective and thus is configured to reflect an image of a user who is striking the punching bag. A fastener is engaged to the panel and is configured to selectively engage the punching bag. The fastener is configured to removably engage the panel to the punching bag. The reflective punching bag wrapping device, once installed on the punching bag, allows the user to self-train and to improve their striking techniques.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an isometric perspective view of a reflective punching bag wrapping device according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a front view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a rear view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is an in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new punching bag wrapping device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the reflective punching bag wrapping device 10 generally comprises a panel 12, which is resiliently flexible and thus is configured to conform to a contour 14 of a punching bag 16, such as, but not limited to, heavy bags 18 (as shown in FIG. 5), free standing heavy bags, uppercut bags, wall bags, and the like. The panel 12 is reflective and thus is configured to reflect an image of a user who is striking the punching bag 16. The panel 12 may be sized such that opposed ends 20 of the panel 12 are proximately positioned when the panel 12 is wrapped around the punching bag 16.

As shown in FIG. 5, the panel 12 extends from proximate to a top 22 to proximate to a bottom 24 of a heavy bag 18 and extends circumferentially around the heavy bag 18. This arrangement is optimal for training as it allows the user to circle the heavy bag 18, and to strike the heavy bag 18 at any level, while still being able to see their reflection. The present invention also anticipates the panel 12 being positioned more distally from the top 22 or the bottom 24 of the heavy bag. The present invention further anticipates the panel 12 not extending circumferentially around the heavy bag 18.

The panel 12 may comprise a first layer 26 and a second layer 28. The first layer 26 comprises elastomer, such as, but not limited to, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or the like, so that the panel 12 is flexible. The second layer 28 comprises reflective metal, such as, but not limited to, aluminum, silver, chromium, and the like, so that the panel 12 is reflective. As shown in FIG. 2, the panel 12 may comprise a third layer 30 so that the first layer 26 is sandwiched between the second layer 28 and the third layer 30. The third layer 30 also comprises reflective metal, such as, but not limited to, aluminum, silver, chromium, and the like. The panel 12 thus can be installed on the punching bag 16 with either the second layer 28 or the third layer 30 exposed to provide a reflection of the user.

A fastener 32 is engaged to the panel 12 and is configured to selectively engage the punching bag 16. The fastener 32 is configured to removably engage the panel 12 to the punching bag 16. The reflective punching bag wrapping device 10, once installed on the punching bag 16, allows the user to self-train and to improve their striking techniques.

The fastener 32 may comprise a first element 34 and a second element 36 of a hook and loop fastener 38. The first element 34 is engaged to a first face 40 of the panel 12 and extends along one of the opposed ends 20 of the panel 12. The second element 36 is engaged to a second face 42 of the panel 12 and extends along the other of the opposed ends 20 of the panel 12. The second element 36 is positioned to selectively engage the first element 34 to removably engage the panel 12 to the punching bag 16. The present invention anticipates the fastener 32 comprising other fastening means, such as, but not limited to, adhesives, straps, and the like. The present invention also anticipates the panel 12 being integral to the punching bag 16.

In use, the panel 12 is wrapped around the punching bag 16 and the second element 36 of the hook and loop fastener 38 is selectively engaged the first element 34 of the hook and loop fastener 38 to removably engage the panel 12 to the punching bag 16. The user then can strike the punching bag 16 while viewing their reflection to observe any deficiencies in their striking technique, allowing them to implement corrective changes to their striking technique on the fly.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
