TAPE DEVICE FOR LACE WIG

A tape device for a lace wig having lace grids includes a tape and a release liner. The tape includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer. The elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the elastic layer. The release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer. The adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface is visible through the adhesive layer, and the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area look natural and making the lace grids less visible or conspicuous.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a tape device for a lace wig. The tape device includes a tape and a release liner where the tape is detachably attached to lace grids of the lace wig to give the lace grids a natural scalp look. More particularly, the invention related to a tape device, including a skin colored tape and a release liner, where the tape is detachably attached to lace grids of the lace wig from inside of the lace wig to give the lace grids a natural scalp look and enable application of foundation or concealer to the lace wig grids.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A lace wig is a type of hairpiece or wig that has human hair or synthetic hair tied to a thin skin-colored lace base. Hair strands are secured to holes of the lace base, and the lace base goes over the wearer’s head. The lace wig is attached to the head using glue or tape, which is usually applied along the front hair line.

The lace base is skin-colored to create a natural look, but due to the contrast created between the dark holes in the lace base and the skin-colored lace grids, the lace wig does not look natural or realistic especially in the parting area where the lace grids are conspicuous in contrast with dark holes. Even along the front hair line, the lace grids are visible, creating unnatural look. Furthermore, knots, created from the hair strands tied to the holes of the lace base, look like small dots and make the lace wig appear even more unrealistic.

To address these problems, a number of solutions have been introduced. One such solution is wearing a stocking cap between the head and the lace wig. A lot of get is applied to the stocking cap and the wearer’s natural hair, and the skin-colored stocking cap blends with the lace grids to create a natural look. However, it takes a very long time to apply this method and the gel starts to melt in hot weather, discomforting the wearer.

To hide the aforementioned knots, bleaching the knots has been introduced. A wig with bleached knots may look more natural, but the process is challenging and susceptible to mistakes, discoloring the lace wig. It permanently alters the lace wig and mistake or error is hard to be corrected. Alternatively, concealer may be used to hide grids or knots, but it has limitation in making the lace wig look natural.

Using a pre-made fake scalp has also been introduced to replace the stocking cap. A fake scalp was made to be worn between the head and the lace wig to hide the natural hair and make the parting area look natural. However, this method still has a limitation in providing a natural look since, for example, there is still a contrast between the lace grids and the fake scalp, which is visible. In addition, a wearer has to purchase an additional expensive item of the fake scalp.

Therefore, to solve the above problems, various embodiments of a tape device for a lace wig are provided, as there is a need for a device that accomplishes these goals. This invention is directed to solve these problems and satisfy the long-felt need.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention contrives to solve the disadvantages of the prior art. The present invention provides a tape device for a lace wig. The tape device includes a tape and a release liner where the tape is detachably attached to the lace grids of the lace wig for giving the lace grids a natural scalp look. The tape is constructed in a skin color and blends with the lace grids to produce a natural and realistic look.

The object of the invention is to provide a tape device for a lace wig having lace grids. The tape device includes a tape and a release liner. The tape includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer. The elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the elastic layer. The release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer. The adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface of the elastic layer is visible through the adhesive layer. The elastic layer has a skin-tone color such that, when the elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig, the parting area appears natural and the lace grids are less visible or conspicuous.

Another object of the invention is to provide a method for making lace grids of a lace wig look natural. The method includes the steps of: measuring a length of a parting area of the lace wig; cutting a tape device to the length of the parting area; removing a release liner of the tape device from a tape of the tape device; and removably attaching an elastic layer of the tape to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover the parting area. The tape device includes the tape and the release liner, and the tape includes the elastic layer and an adhesive layer. The release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer, and the elastic layer has a skin tone color to make the parting area appear natural and realistic. The elastic layer may be attached to a point of the lace wig which is a little apart from a hair line of the lace wig to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive along the hair line of the lace wig to secure the lace wig to the wearer’s head. In addition, the method may further include the step or steps of: tinting the lace wig before the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids; rounding off a front edge of the tape along a hair line of the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids; or applying foundation or concealer to the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

Still another object of the invention is to provide a tape device set for a lace wig having lace grids. The tape device set includes a first tape device and a second tape device, which respectively includes a first tape and a second tape. The first tape is intended for covering the hair line area of the lace wig for making the hair line area look natural whereas the second tape is intended for covering the parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area look natural. The first tape may be formed substantially in a rectangular shape with two opposing sides curved in the same direction, and the second tape may be formed substantially in a rectangular shape.

The advantages of the present invention are: (1) the tape device of the present invention has tape in a skin tone color which is detachably attached to the lace grids to provide a natural, realistic look; (2) the skin tone colored tape is attached to the skin colored lace grids to fill the holes of the lace grids, and thus, there is no contrast between the lace grids and holes; (3) the adhesive layer of the tape in the present invention is thick and creates a strong bond between the lace grids and the tape such that the tape completely and thoroughly blends with the lace grids to provide a natural look and make the lace grids less visible or conspicuous; (4) the tape of the present invention is detachable and thus, it is easy and convenient to remove wrinkles or creases between the tape and the lace grids by reattaching the tape or adjusting the attachment; (5) the tape of the present invention is elastic and detachable and thus, it can be thoroughly and seamlessly attached to the lace grids; (6) the tape of the present invention can be attached to the parting area or the hair line area of the lace wig to make these areas look natural and realistic; (7) the tape of the present invention allows application of concealer or foundation to the area of the tape and lace grids to provide an even more natural and realistic appearance; (8) a roll of the tape device according to the present invention can be cut to the wearer desired length and shape, and thus, it suits various needs to hide various areas of the lace grids; (9) the tape of the present invention is produced in various shapes such as a rectangle shape, a square shape, a “T” shape, etc. to suit various needs; (10) the tape of the present invention is provided in various skin colors to match a variety of skin tones; and (11) the tape of the present invention is provided only to certain areas of the lace wig, preserving the breathing benefit of the lace wig, and thus, the wearer can comfortably wear the lace wig using the tape even during a hot weather.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this disclosure. It is to be understood that this invention is not limited to the specific devices, methods, conditions or parameters described and/or shown herein, and that the terminology used herein is for the purpose of describing particular embodiments by way of example only and is not intended to be limiting of the claimed invention.

Also, as used in the specification including the appended claims, the singular forms “a”, “an”, and “the” include the plural, and reference to a particular numerical value includes at least that particular value, unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Ranges may be expressed herein as from “about” or “approximately” one particular value and/or to “about” or “approximately” another particular value. When such a range is expressed, another embodiment includes from the one particular value and/or to the other particular value. Similarly, when values are expressed as approximations, by use of the antecedent “about”, it will be understood that the particular value forms another embodiment.

FIG. 1 shows the lace grids 210 and FIG. 2 shows the lace wig 200 with the parting area 220 where the lace grids 210 at the parting area 220 appears unnatural due to the contrast between the skin-colored lace grids 210 and the dark holes 211. If the lace wig 200 is worn directly over the head, wearer’s natural hair may be visible through the holes 211 of the lace grids 210 in the parting area 220 and the parting area 200 would look very unnatural. FIG. 3 shows the inside view of the lace wig 200 illustrating the parting area 220, the hair line 230, and the hair line area 240. The hanging lace base 212 is supposed to be cut along the hair line 230.

FIG. 4 shows a roll of a tape device 100 according to one embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 shows the tape 10 of the tape device 100 being attached to the parting area 220 of the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200. As shown in FIG. 6, the tape device 100, for a lace wig 200 having lace grids 210, includes a tape 10 and a release liner 40 which is releasably attached to the tape 10. The tape 10 includes an elastic layer 20 and an adhesive layer 30. The elastic layer 20 has a first surface 21 and a second surface 22, and the adhesive layer 30 is fixedly attached to the second surface 22 of the elastic layer 20. The release liner 40 is releasably attached to the adhesive layer 30. The adhesive layer 30 is transparent such that the second surface 22 of the elastic layer 20 is visible through the adhesive layer 30, and the elastic layer 20 is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer 20 is removably attached to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 for making the parting area 220 appear natural and making the shapes of the lace grids 210 less visible or conspicuous.

The elastic layer 20 has a skin-tone color and the elastic layer 20 is attached to the skin-tone lace grids 220 to make the parting area 220 appear natural. In addition, the tape 10 may have a skin-imitating texture to make the parting area 200 appear even more natural and realistic. The tape 10 may be sweat resistant or water proof, or porous to make it breathable.

If the tape device 100 is constructed in a roll as shown in FIG. 4, it can be cut to the wear’s desired length and shape. The width of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches or 3.0 inches and the length of the tape 100 may be as long as 1.5 yards. Alternatively, the tape device 100 may be pre-cut in various shapes of the tape 10 as shown in FIGS. 7A, 7B, 7C, 7D, and 7E. The tape device may be in any other shapes to suit the lace wig wearer’s needs. The present invention is not limited to the shapes disclosed in the drawings.

As shown in FIG. 7D, the tape 10 may be formed in a “T” shape and a corresponding shape of a release liner 40 is releasably attached to the tape 10. The tape 10 includes a vertical part 15 and a horizontal part 16 such that the vertical part 15 covers the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 and the horizontal part 16 covers a hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200. The horizontal part 16 of the tape may be outwardly curved, corresponding to the contour line of the hair line 230. The two opposite sides of the horizontal part 16 may be curved in the same direction to conform to the curved line of the hair line 230.

The vertical part 15 of the tape 10 may meet the horizontal part 16 of the tape 10 at about middle of the horizontal part 16 as shown in FIG. 7D. Alternatively, the vertical part 15 of the tape 10 may meet the horizontal part 16 of the tape 10 at a point which is not about the middle of the horizontal part 16, depending on the location of the parting area 220. The parting area 220 may be located about the middle of the hair line 230, or toward right or left from the middle of the hair line 230.

In the alternative embodiment, the tape 10 may be formed substantially in a rectangular shape as shown in FIGS. 7A, 7B, or 7C. The width and length of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches and 5.0 inches, or about 3.0 inches and 7.0 inches. To cover 13×4 or 13×6 inch closure cover lace wig, the width and length of the tape 10 may be about 13.0 inches and 4.0 inches, or about 13.0 inches and 6.0 inches.

The tape 10 has a front edge 11, a rear edge 12, and two sides 13, 14, and as in FIG. 7B, the front edge 11 of the tape 10 may be outwardly curved such that the front edge 11 of the tape 10 covers a hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200. The curved front edge 11 of the tape 10 corresponds to the curved line of the hair line 230.

The tape 10 may be formed substantially in a square shape as in FIG. 7C. The length of the tape 10 may be about 4.0 inches or about 5.0 inches, respectively to cover the 4×4 or 5×5 inch closure cover lace wig.

As shown in FIG. 7E, the tape 10 may be formed substantially in a rectangular shape, but the two sides 13, 14 of the tape 10 may be curved in the same direction to conform to the curved line of the hair line 230. The width and length of the tape 10 may be about 1.5 inches and 5.0 inches respectively.

Preferably, the elastic layer 20 has a color of HD natural (tan) or HD clear (transparent). HD natural (tan) is a high definition color with a brown tine, which has a skin-tone color. HD clear (transparent) has a high definition transparent clear color. These colors produce a natural look of scalp skin color by dispersing the light near the lace grids 210. Lace wig wearers may apply makeup foundation or powder to the tape 10 to modify the tape’s color to correspond to their skin color. Alternatively, the skin color of the elastic layer 20 may be light beige, medium warm beige, natural beige, light warm brown, medium brown, medium dark brown, dark brown, cool deep brown, or darkest brown. In addition, the adhesive layer 30 may be made of silicone polymers, and a thickness of the tape 10 may be about or greater than 0.03 inches. The adhesive layer 30 is thick to cover the holes 211 of the lace grids 210 and well attach the tape 10 to the lace grids 210. It is easy to adjust and re-attach the tape 10 to the lace grids 210 for removing any wrinkle or crease in the attached tape 10.

The present invention provides a method for making lace grids 210 of a lace wig 200 appear natural. The method includes the steps of: measuring a length of a parting area 220 of the lace wig 200; cutting a tape device 100 to the length of the parting area 220; removing the release liner 40 from the tape 10; and removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the parting area 220. The tape device 100 includes a tape 10 and a release liner 40, and the tape 10 includes an elastic layer 20 and an adhesive layer 30. The release liner 40 is releasably attached to the adhesive layer 30, and the elastic layer 20 is constructed in a skin color. In case of covering the hair line area 240 by the tape 10, the steps may be modified to: measuring the length of the hair line area 240; cutting the tape device 100 to the length of the hair line area 240; removing the release liner 40 from the tape 10; and removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover the hair line area 240.

When covering the parting area 220, the elastic layer 20 may be attached to the lace wig 200 apart from a hair line 230 of the lace wig 200 to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive along the wearer’s hair line to secure the lace wig 200 to the wearer’s head. In other words, the elastic layer 20 may be attached to a point of the lace wig 200 which is a little apart from a hair line 230 of the lace wig 200 to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive along the hair line 230 of the lace wig 200 to secure the lace wig 200 to the wearer’s head.

The method may further include the step of tinting the lace wig 200 before the step of removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210. Tinting the lace wig 200 includes the step of choosing the right color and mixing the dye, and coloring the lace. Additionaly, the method may include the step of rounding off a front edge 11 of the tape 10 along a hair line 230 of the lace wig 200 after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210. The method may further include the step of applying foundation or concealer to the lace wig 200, more specifically to the lace grids 210 and the tape 10, after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer 20 to the lace grids 210.

In still another embodiment, the present invention relates to a tape device set 100′ for a lace wig 200 having lace grids 210, which includes a first tape device 300 and a second tape device 400. The first tape 310 is intended for covering the hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200 for making the hair line area 240 look natural whereas the second tape 410 is intended for covering the parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 for making the parting area 220 look natural. As shown in FIG. 8A, the first tape 310 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, and the second tape 410 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape.

As shown in FIG. 8B, the first tape device 300 includes a first tape 310 and a first release liner 340, and the first tape 310 includes a first elastic layer 320 and a first adhesive layer 330. The first elastic layer 320 has a first surface 321 and a second surface 322, and the first adhesive layer 330 is fixedly attached to the second surface 322 of the first elastic layer 320. The first release liner 340 is releasably attached to the first adhesive layer 330. The first adhesive layer 330 is transparent such that the second surface 322 of the first elastic layer 320 is visible through the first adhesive layer 330. In addition, the first elastic layer 320 is constructed in a skin color such that the first elastic layer 320 is removably attached to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover a hair line area 240 of the lace wig 200 for making the hair line area 240 look natural.

Preferably, the first tape 310 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape. The first tape 310 has a front edge 311, a rear edge 312, and two sides 313, 314, and the two sides 313, 314 of the first tape 310 are curved in a same direction.

As shown in FIG. 8C, the tape device further includes a second tape device 400 which includes a second tape 410 and a second release liner 440. The second tape 410 includes a second elastic layer 420 and a second adhesive layer 430. The second elastic layer 420 has a first surface 421 and a second surface 422, and the second adhesive layer 430 is fixedly attached to the second surface 422 of the second elastic layer 420. The second release liner 440 is releasably attached to the second adhesive layer 430. The second adhesive layer 430 is transparent such that the second surface 422 of the second elastic layer 420 is visible through the second adhesive layer 430. The second elastic layer 420 is constructed in a skin color such that the second elastic layer 420 is removably attached to the lace grids 210 from inside of the lace wig 200 to cover a parting area 220 of the lace wig 200 for making the parting area 220 look natural. As shown in FIG. 8A, the second tape 410 is formed substantially in a rectangular shape.

While the invention has been shown and described with reference to different embodiments thereof, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that variations in form, detail, compositions and operation may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by accompanying claims.

Claims

1. A tape device for a lace wig having lace grids, comprising:

a tape, which includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer, wherein the elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface and the adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the elastic layer; and
a release liner which is releasably attached to the adhesive layer,
wherein the adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface is visible through the adhesive layer,
wherein the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area appear natural.

2. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the tape is formed in a “T” shape which comprises a vertical part and a horizontal part such that the vertical part covers the parting area of the lace wig and the horizontal part covers a hair line area of the lace wig.

3. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the horizontal part of the tape is outwardly curved.

4. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the vertical part of the tape meets the horizontal part of the tape at about middle of the horizontal part.

5. The tape device of claim 2, wherein the vertical part of the tape meets the horizontal part of the tape at a point which is not about the middle of the horizontal part.

6. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, wherein the tape has a front edge, a rear edge, and two sides.

7. The tape device of claim 6, wherein the front edge of the tape is outwardly curved such that the front edge of the tape covers a hair line area of the lace wig.

8. The tape device of claim 6, wherein the tape is formed substantially in a square shape.

9. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the elastic layer is translucent.

10. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the skin color is light beige, medium warm beige, natural beige, light warm brown, medium brown, medium dark brown, dark brown, cool deep brown, or darkest brown.

11. The tape device of claim 1, wherein the adhesive layer is made of silicone polymers and a thickness of the tape is about or greater than 0.03 inches.

12. A method for making lace grids of a lace wig appear natural, comprising the steps of:

measuring a length of a parting area of the lace wig;
cutting a tape device to the length of the parting area, wherein the tape device includes a tape and a release liner, wherein the tape includes an elastic layer and an adhesive layer, wherein the release liner is releasably attached to the adhesive layer, and wherein the elastic layer is constructed in a skin color;
removing the release liner from the tape;
removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover the parting area.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the elastic layer is attached to the lace wig apart from a hairline of the lace wig to provide a sufficient space to apply an adhesive.

14. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of tinting the lace wig before the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of rounding off a front edge of the tape along a hair line of the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising the step of applying foundation or concealer to the lace wig after the step of removably attaching the elastic layer to the lace grids.

17. A tape device set for a lace wig having lace grids, comprising:

a first tape device which includes a first tape and a first release liner,
wherein the first tape includes a first elastic layer and a first adhesive layer,
wherein the first elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the first adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the first elastic layer,
wherein the first release liner is releasably attached to the first adhesive layer,
wherein the first adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface of the first elastic layer is visible through the first adhesive layer,
wherein the first elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the first elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a hair line area of the lace wig for making the hair line area appear natural.

18. The tape device set of claim 17, wherein the first tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape, wherein the first tape has a front edge, a rear edge, and two sides,

wherein the two sides of the first tape are curved in a same direction.

19. The tape device set of claim 18, further comprising a second tape device which includes a second tape and a second release liner,

wherein the second tape includes a second elastic layer and a second adhesive layer,
wherein the second elastic layer has a first surface and a second surface, and the second adhesive layer is fixedly attached to the second surface of the second elastic layer, wherein the second release liner is releasably attached to the second adhesive layer,
wherein the second adhesive layer is transparent such that the second surface of the second elastic layer is visible through the second adhesive layer,
wherein the second elastic layer is constructed in a skin color such that the second elastic layer is removably attached to the lace grids from inside of the lace wig to cover a parting area of the lace wig for making the parting area appear natural.

20. The tape device set of claim 17, wherein the second tape is formed substantially in a rectangular shape.
