GOLF PUTTER WITH INTERCHANGEABLE FACEPLATES, IMPACT MATERIALS, AND WEIGHTS IN THE PUTTER HEAD AND HANDLE

A golf putter with interchangeable faceplates, impact materials, and weights in the putter head and handle is disclosed. The putter head is attached with one or more interchangeable faceplates at its front end. The putter head comprises a pair of countersunk heads at each corner of the faceplate. The faceplate is affixed to the putter head using one or more fasteners. A feel insert is placed between the interchangeable faceplates and the putter head using fasteners. A head weight is fastened to the putter head and a handle weight is secured to a putter shaft to adjust the weight on the putter head. Further, a grip is secured to the putter shaft. The golf putter provides the player the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate, look, and feel by interchanging faceplates, impact materials, and weights in the head and handle of the putter based on player’s preference.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A. Technical Field

The present invention generally relates to golf clubs. More specifically, the present invention relates to a golf putter with interchangeable faceplates, impact materials, and adjustable weights in the putter head and handle configured to provide the ability to completely customize the feel, look, and balance of the putter.

B. Description of Related Art

Golf is a game of precision and many golfers have to settle with the best equipment they can afford, rather than the economic strain of constantly changing equipment. The putters are designed to make relatively slow shots mostly to roll the ball into the hole. Each putter provides certain characteristics including smooth strokes, sweet-spot; bounce, less topspin, ball launching, shaft angle, and many technical advantages when it is hit by the putter.

Conventional golf putter designs have been made to enhance the performance of golf players. The golf equipment is manufactured to improve the quality of the equipment offered as well as to seek the latest advancements that can be offered to their customers. Typically, the putting performance is greatly dependent on a golfer’s ability to precisely align and aim the head relative to the ball path and hole.

There are a multitude of putter materials and are designed for the face of a putter. Many putters have replaceable weights in the head of the putter, but none of the putters on the market allows for the user to adjust the weight in the handle. Also, the putters have multitudes of weight available, but there is no putter on the market that affords the golfer the ability to change the face material, design, and weight in both the head and the handle of the putter. Other putters also don’t give the user the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate.

In light of the above-mentioned problems, there is a need for a customizable golf putter that gives the user the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate. Also, there is a need for a putter that has the ability to change the face material, design, and weight in both the head and the handle. Also, there is a need for a putter with the flexibility to change the feel, look and balance of the putter.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention generally discloses golf putters. Further, the present invention discloses a gulf putter with interchangeable faceplates, impact materials, and weights in the putter head and handle.

According to the present invention, a golf putter is designed and preassembled with one or more interchangeable or replaceable faceplates, impact materials, and adjustable weights in both the head and handle of the putter. In one embodiment, the preassembled golf putter allows a player or golfer to have the ability to completely customize the feel, look, and performance to match their personal preference. In one embodiment, the golf putter provides players with the opportunity to change the different aspects as the game changes over time.

In one embodiment, the golf putter comprises a base putter head or putter head connected to a shaft attachment or hosel at the top for receiving a putter shaft at least on any one end of the putter head. In one embodiment, the putter head further includes one or more fastening slots present at each corner on the front end of the putter head. In one embodiment, the front end of the putter head is attached with the interchangeable faceplates and the feel plates. In one embodiment, the feel plate is sandwiched between the faceplate at the top and the base putter head at the bottom. In one embodiment, the faceplate and the feel plate are completely customizable based on the player’s preference. In one embodiment, the feel plate is made of rubber or any other suitable flexible material. In one embodiment, the putter head further includes a back end having a cavity equally spaced between each side.

In one embodiment, the interchangeable faceplate includes a pair of countersunk heads at each corner of the faceplate. In one embodiment, the countersunk heads are configured to receive one or more fasteners. In one embodiment, the faceplate includes a front face or striking face and a back face. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises one or more interchangeable elements. The interchangeable elements are feel insert, performance faceplate, and weights for the head and handle of the putter. In one embodiment, the feel insert is placed between one or more interchangeable faceplates and the base putter head using one or more fasteners via one or more through-holes. In one embodiment, the feel insert is selected based on the player’s performance using feedbacks. In one embodiment, the player may select the performance faceplate based on the performance characteristics.

In one embodiment, the faceplate includes a dimension of about 139.46 mm in length and 2.5 mm in thickness. In one embodiment, the overall length of the faceplate from the central axis of the countersunk head is about 110 mm in length and the distance between the pair of the countersunk head is 12 mm. In one embodiment, the overall length of the faceplate including the countersunk head is about 115.5 mm. In one embodiment, the faceplate is about 400 mm in radius. In one embodiment, the thickness of the faceplate is about 2.5 mm and 32.04 mm in length at the ends. In one embodiment, the faceplate is inclined at an angle of 2 degrees or 2°.

In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises at least one head weight. In one embodiment, the head weight is fastened to the base putter head to adjust or balance the weight on the base putter head. In one embodiment, the player may select the weights to be fastened to the base putter head based on the preference. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises at least one handle weight. In one embodiment, the handle weight is secured to the putter shaft that is attached to the base putter head to counterbalance the golf putter. In one embodiment, the weights in the handle are selected based on the player’s preference. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises a grip. In one embodiment, the grip is secured to the putter shaft to relieve tension in the player’s or golfer’s hand. In one embodiment, the head weight is fastened to the base putter head and the handle weight is secured to the putter shaft. The head weight and the handle weight are interchangeable or replaceable, thereby providing the player the ability to completely balance the golf putter from head to handle. In one embodiment, all the modifications of the golf putter are selected by the player and the player uses the golf putter in their desired putting stroke.

In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises at least one handle weight. The handle weight is secured to the putter shaft to counterbalance the golf putter based on user preference. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises a grip. In one embodiment, the grip is secured to the putter shaft. In one embodiment, the head weight fastened to the base putter head and the handle weight secured to the putter shaft is interchangeable or replaceable providing the player the ability to completely balance the golf putter from head to handle. In one embodiment, all the modifications of the putter are selected by the player and are used in the desired putting stroke by the player.

It should be understood, however, that the detailed description and the specific examples, while indicating specific embodiments of the invention, are given by way of illustration only, since various changes and modifications within the spirit and scope of the invention will become apparent to those skilled in the art from this detailed description.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EMBODIMENTS

A description of embodiments of the present invention will now be given with reference to the Figures. It is expected that the present invention may be embodied in other specific forms without departing from its spirit or essential characteristics. The described embodiments are to be considered in all respects only as illustrative and not restrictive.

Referring to FIGS. 1-2, a perspective view and a top perspective view of a base putter head 100 of a golf putter, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the golf putter is designed and preassembled with interchangeable or replaceable faceplates, impact materials, and adjustable weights in its head and handle. In one embodiment, the preassembled golf putter allows a player or golfer to have the ability to completely customize the feel, look, and balance of the putter. In one embodiment, the customizable golf putter gives the player the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate. In one embodiment, the golf putter comprises a base putter head 100 attached with one or more interchangeable faceplates, impact materials, and weights.

In one embodiment, the base putter head or putter head 100 is connected to a shaft attachment or hosel 106 for receiving a putter shaft. In one embodiment, the putter head 100 further comprises one or more fastening slots 104 present at each corner on a front end 102 of the putter head 100 (as shown in FIG. 1). In one embodiment, the front end 102 of the putter head 100 is attached with the interchangeable faceplates 114 and the feel plates. In one embodiment, the feel plate is sandwiched between the faceplate 114 at the top and the base putter head 100 at the bottom. In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 and the feel plate are completely customizable based on the player’s preference. In one embodiment, the feel plate is made of rubber or any other suitable flexible material. In one embodiment, the putter head 100 further comprises one or more cavity 110 at its back end that are equally spaced between each side. In one embodiment, the putter head 100 further comprises at least one head weight 108 to balance the weight of the golf putter (as shown in FIG. 2).

Referring to FIGS. 3-5, various views of the base putter head 100, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the overall length of the base putter head 100 is about 115.50 mm and breadth is about 30 mm. In one embodiment, the length of the putter head 100 between the fastening slots 104 at each corner is about 110 mm. In one embodiment, the distance between two fastening slots 104 on the same side is about 12 mm in length. In one embodiment, each fastening slot 104 is about 14 mm in radius. Further, the height of each fastening slot 104 is about 8 mm. In one embodiment, the curvature at each end of the putter head 100 is about 400 mm in radius. In one embodiment, the putter head 100 further comprises a cavity 110 at the back end, which is present 5.5 mm away from the fastening slots 104. In one embodiment, the cavity 110 is about 50 mm in length and about 20 mm in height having a partition of about 2 mm in length. In one embodiment, the back end covers a length of about 10 mm (as shown in FIG. 3). In one embodiment, the thickness of the front end 102 of the putter head 100 and the cavity 110 is about 1 mm having a protrusion of about 2 mm in the center (as shown in FIG. 4).

In one embodiment, the putter head 100 further comprises one or more head weights 108 for balancing the weight of the putter head 100. In one embodiment, the angle of curvature between two head weights 108 is about 11.48 degrees. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 has a diameter of about 22 mm at the front end and 19 mm at the back end. In one embodiment, the height of the head weight 108 is about 14 mm. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 includes a plurality of threads having a dimension of M18X1.5. In one embodiment, the putter head 100 is further attached to a shaft attachment 106. In one embodiment, the shaft attachment 106 includes a length of about 31.45 mm. In one embodiment, further the shaft attachment 106 is inclined at an angle of about 9.5 degrees °(as shown in FIG. 3).

Referring to FIGS. 6-7, side views of the putter head 100, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the front of the putter head 100 is 9.85 x 45 °degrees inclined backward. In one embodiment, the backward inclined portion includes a radius of about 1 mm and 0.5 mm at the back end. In one embodiment, the through-holes of the fastening slot 108 include 4 x M4X0.7 mm threads (as shown in FIG. 7). In one embodiment, the shaft attachment 106 at the top includes an outer radius of about 5.50 mm. In one embodiment, the shaft attachment 106 further includes a small support 112 for holding the shaft. In one embodiment, the support 112 includes a radius of about 3.75 mm with a height of about 7.89 mm (as shown in FIG. 6).

Referring to FIG. 8, a perspective view of a faceplate 114 of the golf putter, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the golf putter is designed and preassembled with interchangeable or replaceable faceplates, impact materials, and adjustable weights in its head and handle. In one embodiment, the preassembled golf putter allows a player or golfer to have the ability to completely customize the feel, look, and balance of the putter. In one embodiment, the customizable golf putter gives the player the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate.

In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 includes at least a pair of countersunk heads 116 at each corner of the faceplate 114. In one embodiment, the countersunk heads 116 are configured to receive one or more fasteners. In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 includes a front face or striking face and a back face. The back face of the faceplate 114 is attached to the front end 102 of the base putter head 100. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises one or more interchangeable elements. The interchangeable elements are feel insert, performance faceplate 114, and weights for the head and handle of the putter. In one embodiment, the feel insert is placed between one or more interchangeable faceplates 114 and the base putter head 100 using one or more fasteners via one or more through-holes. In one embodiment, the feel insert is selected based on the player’s performance using feedbacks. In one embodiment, the player may select the performance faceplate 114 based on the performance characteristics.

Referring to FIGS. 9-11, various views of the faceplate 114 of the golf putter, according to one embodiment are disclosed. In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 has a dimension of about 139.46 mm in length and 2.5 mm in thickness (as shown in FIG. 9). In one embodiment, the overall length of the faceplate 114 from the central axis of the countersunk head 116 is about 110 mm in length. In one embodiment, the distance between the pair of countersunk head 116 present at each corner of the faceplate 114 is about 12 mm. In one embodiment, the overall length of the faceplate 114 including the countersunk head 116 is about 115.5 mm. In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 has a dimension of about 400 mm in radius. In one embodiment, each through-hole of the countersunk head 116 for receiving the fastener has a dimension of about 14 mm in radius (as shown in FIG. 10). In one embodiment, the faceplate 114 has a dimension of about 2.5 mm thickness and 32.04 mm width at the ends. In one embodiment, the through-holes of the countersunk head 116 is inclined at an angle of about 2 degrees or 2° (as shown in FIG. 11).

In one embodiment, the head weight 108 is fastened to the base putter head 100 at the top to adjust or balance the weight on the base putter head 100. In one embodiment, the player may select the weights to be fastened to the base putter head 100 based on the preference. In one embodiment, the golf putter further comprises at least one handle weight. Referring to FIGS. 12-13, a front perspective view and a rear perspective view of the head weight 108 respectively, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 is fastened to the base putter head 100. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 is a circular structure having variable weights. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 includes a top section 118 and a bottom section 120. In one embodiment, the top section 118 of the head weight 108 is bisected into three equal sectors having a gap of about 20 mm between each sector. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 further includes a protrusion 122 extending downwards at its center point (as shown in FIG. 12). In one embodiment, the bottom section 120 of the head weight 108 includes a plurality of threads 124 (as shown in FIG. 13).

Referring to FIGS. 14-15, a top and bottom view of the head weight 108respectively, according to one embodiment of the present invention. The head weight 108 has the protrusion 122 at its top section 118. In one embodiment, the protrusion 122 has a dimension of about 10.00 mm in diameter. In one embodiment, the protrusion 122 has a hexagonal center. The hexagonal center has a dimension of about 6 mm in diameter (as shown in FIG. 14). In one embodiment the overall diameter of the head weight 108 is about 22 mm. In one embodiment, the second inner diameter of the head weight 108 is about 19 mm (as shown in FIG. 15).

Referring to FIG. 16, a side view of the head weight 108, according to one embodiment of the present invention. In one embodiment, the head weight 108 comprises the top section 118 and the bottom section 120. In one embodiment, the top section 118 has a dimension of about 3.2 mm in thickness and it is inclined at an angle of about 45° i.e., 0.25x45°. In one embodiment, the bottom section 120 includes a plurality of threads 124. In one embodiment, the threads 124 attached to the base of the head weight 108 at the bottom section 120. The threads 124 has a dimension of about 20.5 mm in length and 5 mm in height. The threads 124 has a height of about 5.5 mm while including the bottom section 120. In one embodiment, each thread 124 is inclined at an angle of about 45° i.e., 0.45x45°. In one embodiment, each thread 124 is about 1.5 in length. For example, 18 threads have 18x1.5 in length. Further, the plurality of threads 124 attached to the bottom section 120 of the head weight 108 includes at least two ball support rings 126. In one embodiment, each ball support ring 126 has a dimension of about 0.75 in radius. In one embodiment, the overall length of the thread 124 including the ball support ring 126 is about 5.5 mm.

Advantageously, the golf putter of the present invention is customizable without the need to change the overall putter i.e., the putter dynamics are set to be unchangeable. Also, the golf putter provides an opportunity to change the different aspects as the game changes over time. Further, the customizable golf putter gives the player the ability to change the performance aspect of the faceplate, look and feel of the putter.

Preferred embodiments of this invention are described herein, including the best mode known to the inventors for carrying out the invention. It should be understood that the illustrated embodiments are exemplary only and should not be taken as limiting the scope of the invention.

Claims

1) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf, comprising a base putter head;

a putter shaft to connect to the base putter head and wherein the base putter head includes a first countersunk head and a second countersunk head wherein the golf putter head a corner and wherein each of the first countersunk head and the second countersunk head is positioned at the corner of the base putter head; wherein the golf putter further includes a interchangeable element; wherein the interchangeable element includes a feel plate and a performance faceplate at the top and the base putter head at the bottom.

2) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 1, wherein the first countersunk head and the second countersunk head are each configured to receive a removable fastener.

3) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 1, wherein the base putter head includes a front face and a back face.

10) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 6, wherein the performance faceplate is configured to be based on the performance characteristics.

11) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 7, wherein the weight for the base putter head is positioned at a top of the base putter head.

12) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 8, the weight in the handle is configured to be selected based on the player’s preference.

13) A golf putter for use in the sport of golf as in claim 8, wherein the base putter head includes a head weight and the weight in the handle are configured to be interchangeable and replaceable.
