MODIFIED TANK-STYLE VAPORIZER FOR USE OF DRY VAPORIZABLE SUBSTANCES, AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
A device that enables a user to use a dry vaporizable substance instead of liquid vaporizable substance with a liquid-based tank-style vaporizer. The present invention embodies a modification of existing components of the tank-style vaporizer thereby allowing dry vaporizable substance to be placed for use with the modified vape tank. This vape tank modification embodied in an inventive method that does not require affirmative installation and is immediately ready for use once the modification is complete.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to vape tanks and, more particularly, to a modified tank-style vaporizer for dry vaporizable substances.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of many identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants, along with tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and accounts for up to 40% of the plant's extract.
A vaporizer, colloquially known as a vape, is a device used to vaporize substances for inhalation, including “dry” plant substances (such as the cannabis flower) or “wet” cannabis concentrates or oils that have been extracted from the plant. Dry cannabis substances are commonly consumed using a dry herb vaporizer. Wet cannabis substances, on the other hand, are commonly consumed via a “tank-style” vaporizer. The “tank-style” vaporizer includes a heating element, a power source such as a battery, and a container such as a cartridge or “tank”. The heating element vaporizes a liquid solution (commonly called an e-liquid) housed in the tank. Specifically, a mechanism integrates the coil of the heating element into the liquid chamber/tank.
Wet cannabis consumption is generally much more potent than smoking or vaporizing marijuana flower due to the increased concentration of cannabinoids, wherein users typically report that the effects of wet cannabis vaporization are much more intense than dry cannabis vaporization, while also being shorter lived. More importantly, e-liquid formulations vary widely, and has many additives and chemicals to facilitate the vaporization of the wet substance; some of these chemicals may be harmful, such as formaldehyde and metallic nanoparticles have been found in e-liquids at trace quantities.
In short, current vape tanks only allow for use of liquid CBD or wet use such as oil. No present vape tank allows a user to utilize dry CBD, which is less fraught with the risk of unregulated additives.
As can be seen, there is a need for a vape tank modified, and a method of making the same, to operatively associate with dry CBD, thereby obviating the risk of harmful chemicals in liquid forms of CBD, while still able to enjoy dry CBD.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIn one aspect of the present invention, a method of modifying a pre-existing e-liquid tank-style vaporizer to a dry tank-style vaporizer includes the following: removing an absorbent operatively associated with the combustion chamber; and placing a filter screen between said combustion chamber and a mouthpiece of the pre-existing e-liquid tank-style vaporizer, wherein a tweezer is used to mechanically remove the absorbent, wherein the absorbent is a piece of cotton.
In another aspect of the present invention, a modified e-liquid tank-style vaporizer includes a combustion chamber wherein a pre-existing absorbent by a removable filter screen disposed between said combustion chamber and a mouthpiece, wherein the absorbent is a piece of cotton.

The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best defined by the appended claims.
Broadly, an embodiment of the present invention provides a device that enables a user to vaporize dry CBD instead of liquid with a vape tank. The present invention may be a modification of existing inner parts of a “tank-style” vaporizer to allow dry CBD to be placed for use with the modified vape tank. This vape tank modification (commonly called a “MOD”) does not require to be built from scratch but is immediately ready for use once the modification is complete, with the only requirement being changing of the screen/filter weekly or less depending on the use.

The present invention may be manufactured or built by modifying an existing vape tank. Interesting, the heating coiling and associated mechanism that integrates the heating coil into the e-liquid tank need not be removed. Only absorbents, such as cotton (which would combust if the dry CBD is used as contemplated herein), surrounding the heating coil within the currently used vape tank/combustion chamber need be removed. After placement of a filtering screen 22 between the mouthpiece 12 and the combustion chamber 28, use of dry CBD is enabled instead of a liquid CBD.
Referring now to the Figures, a presently available vape tank is modified by removing the absorbent 44 from the vaporizer's combustion chamber 28 (whose presence is to capture leaked liquid) and any related insulation, by way of a tweezer or the like, and inserting a filter screen 20 between the vaporizer's combustion chamber 28 and the mouthpiece 12. The filter screen 20 enables a user to utilize dry CBD 11, and its insertion completes the modified tank-style vaporizer 10.
Still remaining with the modified tank-style vaporizer 10 is the upper gasket 14 operatively associating the mouthpiece 12 and the upper chamber 16, as well as the upper chamber gasket 18 that operatively associates the upper chamber 16 and the lower chamber 24 or tank, as well as the pre-existing tank-style combustion chamber 28
Untouched from the pre-existing tank-style vaporizer, the following components may be present in the modified tank-style vaporizer 10: the lower chamber gasket 30, the resistance connector 32 for the combustion chamber, the port 36 for the lower portion of the combustion chamber and the operatively associated port gasket 34 and port damper 38; and the power connector 42 and its gasket 40.
As used in this application, the term “about” or “approximately” refers to a range of values within plus or minus 10% of the specified number. And the term “substantially” refers to up to 80% or more of an entirety. Recitation of ranges of values herein are not intended to be limiting, referring instead individually to any and all values falling within the range, unless otherwise indicated, and each separate value within such a range is incorporated into the specification as if it were individually recited herein.
For purposes of this disclosure, the term “aligned” means parallel, substantially parallel, or forming an angle of less than 35.0 degrees. For purposes of this disclosure, the term “transverse” means perpendicular, substantially perpendicular, or forming an angle between 55.0 and 125.0 degrees. Also, for purposes of this disclosure, the term “length” means the longest dimension of an object. Also, for purposes of this disclosure, the term “width” means the dimension of an object from side to side. For the purposes of this disclosure, the term “above” generally means superjacent, substantially superjacent, or higher than another object although not directly overlying the object. Further, for purposes of this disclosure, the term “mechanical communication” generally refers to components being in direct physical contact with each other or being in indirect physical contact with each other where movement of one component affect the position of the other.

Claims
1. A method of modifying a pre-existing e-liquid tank-style vaporizer to a dry tank-style vaporizer, the method including:
- removing an absorbent operatively associated with a combustion chamber of the pre-existing e-liquid tank-style vaporizer; and
- placing a filter screen between said combustion chamber and a mouthpiece of the pre-existing e-liquid tank-style vaporizer.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein a tweezer is used to mechanically remove the absorbent.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the absorbent is a piece of cotton.
4. A modified e-liquid tank-style vaporizer comprising:
- a combustion chamber wherein a pre-existing absorbent has been replaced by a removable filter screen disposed between said combustion chamber and a mouthpiece.
5. The modified e-liquid tank-style of claim 4, wherein the absorbent is a piece of cotton.
